Review My Sushi Japanese Cafe - Melbourne

It's not a really clean place, there are dust everywhere and rubbish next to the tables. The food is fine but not awesome. I tried a bento for $15 it was fine but my friends didn't like their kimchi soup and veggie ramen.

had the avocado rolls very nice and good ratio, rice had nice flavour :) and was not icy cold like other sushi joints

Bought sushi and nigiri combo. Taste okay. Bought extra ginger for ¢50. You should ask for cutlery and serviettes if you need to.

Nice food for a quick lunch. Broth was not so full of flavour and the beef tasted more like a western roast (also quite salty), Bento had nice presentation and lots of food but very sweet. Katsu chicken was a little tough. Portion sizes are decent.

Tofu Don was amazing, generous and served quickly. The price was so cheap. Honestly unbelievably good. From the outside it really is easy to walk past. I did for almost a year. I went in and it was not what I expected at all. It's Japanese style is obvious. A very very good humble restaurant. The best restaurant in that group of shops IMHO. Enjoy.

Didn’t have a good experience with the food and their service today. It took more than 35 mins to receive three hot dish orders (Katsu Don, Kimchi Ramen, Gyu Don). Foods came so bland. Also the food ingredients were quite old. When we were at the place to place the order, the lady who served us was a bit rude to us as well. The price on the board menu are different than what they charge you for (ex: Seaweed salad on the menu $4.5 they charge $5.5).

Sushi al dente! Unfortunately, the rice was undercooked and flavors are hardly there. To me it didn't taste fresh.

I really enjoyed this cheap and cheerful eatery in East Melbourne. I had the chicken katsu meal that came with 4 spring rolls and a can of Coke for $12. It was a nice meal and I’d happily do it again.

Came here with my colleague for lunch. The place is small. They have varieties of the menu including don, bento box, curry and salad. We had beef bento and teriyaki salmon don. The service was quick and food was average.

We stopped here for a quick bite before heading to St Vincent's Private Hospital. The isn't much food around the hospital, but if you walk two blocks down heading to the MCG. This place is just opposite the train station. The food was great. The customer service is great. Thank you so much for looking after my gluten free needs.

Really enjoy my sushi. order two platters to share with my family and friends. They all love it. My office is nearby ,come twice a week , sometime I roder the chicken salad ,healthy and yummy and if I'm really hungry ,I order chicken or pork bento, comes with miso soup and can of drink!! <br/>Btw their staff are all very friendly.

Cheap eat good and tasty Healthy foods ,try lunch special chicken salad, it comes bbq chicken, green cabbage,purple cabbage,cucumber,avocado, carrot,cherry tomato, and surprising brown rice with creamy sesame dressing.

Not pleasanr. Worst sushi/japanesive ever had. Greasy and soggy. Tough prawns. Yuk....couldn't even eat it all

The food was not fresh at all and nothing special. Not worth even the cheap price.

Great fresh food....BUT!. This is my local sushi place (during work hours) and have always found the food to be fresh and tasty.<br/><br/>BUT! I can't help being so angry about the owner/Manager of this establishment. I don't think there is anybody that should NOT be interacting with customers. He lacks any customer service skills. There is absolutely no smiles or connection with customers and never ever establishes eye contact. He can also pass you in the street and never ever acknowledge you or the fact that you contribute to his rent and profit throughout the week. I have made a decision today to cease going to this place because of this guy. Perhaps he should never interact with the general public. EVER!

Sushi Nazi. If you love that episode of Seinfeld with the soup Nazi and you get off being yelled at when buying your lunch, then this is the cafe for you!!!. Take note of the young girl behind the register who screams prices at you as you order, but don't you dare think about ordering just one sushi roll because the "MINIMUM ORDER IS $5 FOR TWO ROLLS!!!!" <br/>The photographs posted here are very inaccurate, the hot food is drenched in oil, the steamed rice is great although the steam rice is stored in tubs on top of the fridge......the brown rice salad was pretty good to be fair. <br/><br/>Overall, It is cheap and nasty if that's what you are into. NO SUSHI FOR YOU!!

We had a quick dinner here before the footy. Fast friendly service and food was amazing, best sushi and bento I have had in a long time!

Mediocre food, mediocre service. For lunch we tried some sushi, a sashimi platter, and the gyoza (dumplings). The latter were the best of the lot, although they were burned on the outside, undercooked on the inside, and greasy. The sushi came from the same factory as everyone else's -- not terrible, but very average. I'm not sure what the intent of the sashimi platter was -- it came with salad, onion relish, and brown rice, and the fish itself was undistinguished. This all came to $30, quite a lot for the quality and quantity received.<br/><br/>This is an order-at-the-counter place, and the order takers had lots of trouble understanding what we wanted (OK, we are both Americans, but I don't think it was our accents). Quite a number of items on the menu board were not available including, amazingly, green tea. Actually, green tea is available, but only after 1:30 -- not during the "busy lunch period". At 1:30 one serving of green tea arrived. We were told that this was the only one the restaurant had, and I was offered ordinary black tea plus a refund. A Japanese restaurant that does not serve green tea with lunch, and then runs out??<br/><br/>We had to ask for everything -- wasabi, plates, etc -- and several attempts were made to clear our table when we obviously had not finished eating.<br/><br/>In short, this place has a long way to go, both with regard to the food and with regard to the delivery. <br/><br/>I intend to give it another go, and this time try one of the soups or perhaps the bento box -- these might be better value and less demanding on the staff.
