Review Nhi Nuong 2 Sisters Restaurant - Melbourne

Steven Truong
Lovely fried squid. Also a decent stir fry flat noodle and beef with XO. They also do an amazing and legit fried rice.

Dishes came out fast and loved them all (ordered 5 dishes amongst 4 hungry men). Definitely will come back.

I'm sorry, I hate writing bad reviews, but I hate going somewhere that's highly reviewed and being disappointed or straight out lied to even more. We waited more than half an hour to be served after seating, then almost an hour to get our first dish, then another half hour for the next, my son's spring rolls never came, two fried rices were still coming after we had finished what was edible of our meals, so we cancelled them, Food was old, cold and not really what we ordered, when I asked them to fix it we were treated very rudely, and even charged for the stuff we didn't get like the rices and the spring rolls. I would be embarrassed and humiliated if I owned that business. Sorry but best avoid at all possible costs.

Ate today and the prawn spring roll was off. Not even have a chance to ask for 2small bowls as the waitress in white running straight away after putting the order in our table. Not gonna come back again.

Three of us came for dinner. Simple dishes were ordered, but only 2 came out. The third person was completely forgotten about,so had to settle for take away. Unacceptable behaviour by the staff on a quiet Friday evening. Wasn't very busy at all. Food that came was mediocre.

You've gotta try Quail w 5 spice an Chilli entree, then a whole fried flounder and pippies in x.o sauce oh so yummy

The Đậu hũ Xào tôm was enjoyable. The service was average. This area has very few street parking spots

Nice good place was quiet when we went Service is average cheap dining with an average quality

Very friendly staff. The owner also sings on occasions. I very much like their noodle drop soup. Especially the Bahn Chan noodles. Good serving size. Asian Music videos are on the video screens. Complimentary tea on arrival

Service was really poor and unorganised. We were asked if we were ready to order before we were given menus. Food was average at best and rice vermicelli which the SO ordered was a tiny portion in comparison to everywhere else. Really disappointing, won’t be going back.

It was past 8:30pm and we strolled around to see what was available for dinner. Restaurant was full and ambience was pretty good. We ordered corn & Tom yum soup, grilled chicken with tomato rice and chicken pancake. To start off Tom yum was disappointing, had no kick and literally taste less. However the grilled chicken was amazing. It had a charcoal bbq kick to it and very succulent. The pancake was 70% filled with sprout and few pieces of chicken. Overall the food was just ok.

I had pho here. Not bad. It was okay. It had relieved my hunger. I also had the three colours for the first time here. Flavour was quite odd at first but eventually I got used to it. I can eat here again when provoked. Totally not bad.

Love the portion and the food here! We got the thick noodles with crab and taste delicious, we also got beef and rice and finished off with fried banana with icecream. I like it here and will come back !

Ordered stew beef thinking it will be the traditional Vietnamese beef stew... But how disappointed I am... As it's only soup w a few small pieces of beef for $14! Not generous nor tasty... Please avoid if you want a good beef stew

what else can I say. there are heaps nice Vietnamese restaurants with good food and service in western suburbs. but definitely not this one.

Horrible experience. Waited an hour for the dish and staff weren't even apologise. Poor customer service and food just so average, you can get better food and service in any other restaurant in sunshine!

Came here especially for the Vietnamese pancake as I've been told that they were the best place to go for, went home disappointed. It was a decent size, however it lacked a lot of flavour - even with the dipping sauce which was way too sweet. Never order the avocado smoothie here, you're literally paying $5 for a smoothie with 1% avocado. All I could taste was the milk with the slightest hint of avocado, what a waste of money.
As for the service, it was meh. Lady only wiped down half of the table and left the other half dirty. They forgot a drink we ordered, didn't provide the table with chopsticks until asked among other things. Would not recommend.
Hello. Imnikki
It was still early in the evening and all the nearby Vietnamese restaurants were empty. Without customers to help us gauge the quality of the restaurants, we left it to luck. Seeing the bright pink sign for Nhi Nuong 2 Sister, we decided to try them out. It wasn’t our best move.

Other than a table of 4 who came in much later than us, we were the only other customers waiting for our food. Yet the waiter managed to give my partner’s meal to the other table, even though I had been served mine quite some time before. He didn’t realised his mistake, but we noticed that another waiter did and he went into the kitchen to sort it out. More time went by before someone actually came to let us know what happened, apologised and informed us on how long more we had to wait. Not happy!

We ordered the Bun Bo Hue and the crusty rice with diced beef (aka claypot rice). The broth of the Bun Bo Hue lacked richness and flavour, but the pork loaf and pig’s blood were quite tasty. The crusty rice was decent. I enjoyed the slightly crispy bits of rice stuck to the pot and the well-seasoned diced beef, but other than that, it was nothing exceptional.

We did however enjoyed the custard apple smoothie so at least one good thing came out of this.

We ordered the below and everything was nice.
Pork spring rolls
Sugar cane prawn
Special broken rice
Seafood fried rice
This place lacks attentive service and we came at 6pm for dinner on a Sunday night and they claimed that all pancakes were sold out - waitress said all sold out, we tried another waiter and he took the order but note that it will be at least 30mins wait for this dish, but later waitress returned to say not available, so this makes me doubt whether it was sold out or that they couldn't be bothered in the kitchen! Understand it is a complicated dish but if one is not prepared to make it then take it off the menu 😒

It costs me $17 and it was tasteless. Very terrible. I asked for a pork and chicken pancake and I emphasised that I am allergy to prawns and yet they served prawns in my pancake.

When I went to 2 sisters restaurant the decor was inviting and well lit. My friends and I shared special fried rice, pork and bbh. The service was fairly quick and there was also traditional music playing while we ate. Thanks 2 sisters!

Great service and cheap food in central location. My partner ate salt and pepper chicken with tomato rice and I had spinach water and special fried rice. Would 100% recommend!

WE GOT RIPPED OFF!!!!

Me and my girlfriend came here for dinner, We always have goat hotpot in small size, they usually cost around $30-$35 at max everywhere for 2 peoples, here at 2 bloody sisters, they charged $55 for a small hotpot 😏 we couldn't believe it! It didnt taste that great either

Also very bad customer service, We asked the waitress to come clean the table after we finished, she never came , we waited after 15 mins and yes, still, no one came! Lol

I would not recommend anyone to come here.
Will never come back. What a rip off!

it's okay. used to be better. after they changed the kitchen chefs, they no longer serve good pho anymore. the canh chua is good, but the wait is so long (i waited about 50 minutes despite ordering over the phone first and it being something frozen.. ). the drinks here are not bad, but i wouldn't really recommend. the bubble tea here is not that good and the boba doesn't taste so good either. the food here is great, (except for the pho, which isn't really). staff are friendly but seem to mind their business a little too much.. they need to be more alert to the customers.. good place though. the manager and her sister are both very kind and beautiful women.

Wanted to give this place a go as we often frequent other restaurants in Sunshine. Located in a popular restaurant area in Sunshine is this purple-colour coded restaurant with a very lovely modern Vietnamese interior and an abudance of TV screens all around the place.
We just chose a place to sit and were attended to with menus and such. I ordered a Rice Noodle Soup with Pork and Prawns (something I like to order at other Vietnamese restaurants too). The service was efficient and quick and didn't wait too long for our meals.
My meal was okay.... it didn't have a lot of flavour, the pork was chewy and dryish, there were only two small prawns in my bowl, a bit of bean shoots on the side and a lot of rice noodles. Meh, is what I can say. And for the price, it was definitely not worth it. Could go to another place with alot more prawn and tastier pork slices and a more flavoursome broth for a cheaper price as well. Sorry, but I would not recommend coming here as there's a lot of better places to go to in Sunshine. If curious to see picture, it's uploaded on my profile. :)

TLDR; Service was efficient, prices more expensive than others in the area with very average to lack of flavour for the meals, interior was very nice to sit in and look at. Would not recommend and won't come again.

I figured I'd come back to this place after a year or 2. It has gotten worse.

The vermicelli styled dish lacked any flavor, the flat white noodles dish was exactly the same as the vermicelli one which they were both next to each other on the special menu. (They named the dishes in viet to be interesting.)

Yesterday morning was the dry vermicelli spring rolls & marinated beef - was ok, beef poorly marinated.

The yellow pancake which use to be good years ago was absolutely crap! 20 minute wait. The shrimp and pork none were sticking to the pancake no fragrance from the yellow pancake it self.

The was no love in these dishes,

Oh and the entree prawn spring rolls lacked any prawn in it! Basically the pastry! Lucky the waitress took it away!

Ashame really this place was good in its first year

This place is the worst. The meals are average and take over an hour to arrive. And when you ask where you food is the staff tell you you're wrong and that you haven't been waiting long.
Also when the meals arrive they're wrong.
Never come here.

The lunch specials are great for those wanting to grab a quick bite. My favourite is the beef satay with rice. The beef can be a little rubbery sometimes and I think that's due to the cut of the meat they use. Flavour wise it is tasty. Service is quick.

Been here a few times now & food is phenomenal!
On my list for good tasty Asian takeaway. Extra points for delivery.
Try their lemongrass and chilli chicken & Honey Chicken 👌

Our favourite little Vietnamese restaurant that we visit every weekend. The pork on rice is the best I've had and the pho is delicious. Staff are friendly and efficient, our food arrives in a timely fashion and we always leave the place satisfied and happy.

The menu from this place didn't really have enough pictures as a result we pretty much picked dishes from the dark without good visual guidance. We ordered spicy chicken on rice which was rather disappointing as well as pho, which was slightly better but not super good too. I like the honeydew milk though , it was smooth and sweet (or maybe too sweet for some) . Overall it was just an ok experience.

Salt & Pepper Calamari was our favourite. Chicken Stir Fry with Snow Peas was unavailable. Had Chicken with Seasonal Vegetables instead.
Mongolian Sizzling Beef had lots of ginger. Wouldn't order entrees next time.
FOOD TRIP
Colourful and bright outside this restaurant while the inside is full of décor and feels very welcoming. Drinks are not bad but food just didn't taste quite right. Would not come back or recommend. Three Colour Drink $4. Came in the ideal glass and tasted great! Liked how the ice was shaved nice and thin. Worth it and would recommend. 8/10

Got here around 8pm and ordered Bun Bo Hue. The service was fast and the noodle was good. I do wish there was a bit more noodle and meat though.
My Babes And I
My babes and I were looking for something to eat for lunch. I told my babes that I felt like having some Banh Xeo (Vietnamese Pancake) but we couldn't be bothered going all the way to Footscray just for that. We were driving on Ballarat Road near Sunshine so my babes suggested 2 Sisters on Hampshire Road.
We've been to 2 sisters a few times together in the past, as its close to my babes house and she knows the area, but we've never had Banh Xeo there. I was a little worried as I've had some bad ones in the past and I was just hoping that the Pork And Prawn Banh Xeo I ordered wasn't going to disappoint. My babes ordered Combination Crispy Fried Noodle as she knew she'd enjoy that here.
I was told that the Banh Xeo would take around 15 minutes to make, which is a bit longer than usual for Viet food, but I didn't mind as it's the normal waiting time is expect from other restaurants. In the meantime, I ordered a Honeydew Milk Tea with Jelly.
My Milk Tea came after 5 minutes. I usually get an ice blend with pearls but was pleasantly surprised with the milk tea. About 10 minutes later, our meals were served. Both dishes were presented beautifully and we couldn't wait to get started!
My babes crispy fried noodles resembled a nest topped with the stir fried baby corn, mushroom, broccoli, carrot, beef and chicken all covered in a thick sauce. The meat and veges were well cooked, the oyster-based sauce was flavoursome and the noodles crunched with every bite.
My Banh Xeo was massive, highlighted by the way it has to overhang the large white plate it was served on. It definitely looked impressive but what about the taste?! The freshly cooked Banh Xeo was crispy, delicious and well worth the wait! Unfortunately the bean sprout, pork and prawn filling was lacking flavour. Overall, it was nice but doesn't compare to other Banh Xeo's I've had in Richmond and Footscray.
2 Sisters is a convenient place to eat, as my babes lives 10 minutes away, but there are much better Vietnamese restaurants around Sunshine and the surrounding suburbs. We would come back to 2 Sisters, not only because we know what to expect food wise, but their efficient and very friendly service.

Great food at a good price. Great customer service. I've order the pork and prawn rolls. Pork and prawns were spread evenly with a well balance dipping sauce.
Pho is okay. The noodle were over cooked for me. But the good broth makes up for noodles.
Avocado and apple custard smoothie is a must try.

Finally got around to trying 2 sisters earlier in the week, quite impressed with the bun bo hue, i'll definitely be back for another round! The flavors are amazing, though i did remove the hunk of shrimp paste.
Quiet when we arrived, though filled very quickly - staff were adequate and friendly enough.
They do bubble tea also, try the grape flavor with pearls.
priced slightly higher than others in the immediate area, but still quite reasonable

Great dinner at Nhi Nuong tonight. Prompt attentive service, fresh ingredients and great live Vietnamese music/singing. Will come back.

Really bad. Waitress was very disinterested. Seemed like she did not want us there. Meal portion was small compared to other similarly priced Vietnamese restaurants. Ordered a chicken option and was served tofu. Ended up waiting about half an hour for the meal. Other guests at my table had long since finished their food.
Steve
Great food!. Yeah I like this place. Very friendly and consistently good food. It is my favourite choice of place in Sunshine for a quick lunch snack (rice paper rolls as pictured) or a full dinner with friends after the Cinema. Always fresh ingredients and well presented. Great!

Great Pancake. I've been coming here for a couple of years. Great food and service. My favourite is the Vietnamese combination pancake. Lightly crisped base and fresh ingredients. A definite winner. Crispy chicken is very good as are the sizzling plate dishes. I've eaten at most places in sunshine, many in footscray and Richmond and this place should have much better rating. I like the family vibe especially when the singing starts. Very friendly atmosphere.

Foods are not tatsy and my partner had wait too long for his serve, I almost finished my dish until his meal was served. I dont think we come back next time.
Chris
Don't waste your time and money. And most of all, don't let the nice decor fool you, the food here is just terrible. The salt and pepper chicken ribs were fried to death and were so dry, they were almost fossilised. Worst ever eaten.

Nothing was good. And to top our terrible dining experience off, We were also overcharged.

Best place for everyone!. Very nice for asian foods! with cheap deal.

Fantastic Food and Service. I have been eating here for over 1 year. Great service and delicious fresh beef Phô. Have never had a bad meal. The fried dishes are great and served with the freshest ingredients. Best part is the karaoke if you go at night, the 2 sisters are lovely to listen too. Have tried every Vietnamese restaurant in Sunshine and hands down this is the best.

Worst pho I've ever eaten in my life. Would not even recomend to my worst enemy.
Cristian
I came to this place late on a sunday night after a fishing trip. We were all cold and were craving some pho, the place that we wanted to go to was closed and we decided to give this place a go. Wow were we impressed , a charming little establishment with karaoke and a lovely hostess accompanied by a great guitarist and some delish pho ! Huge servings for bottom dollar. I was so impressed i took the wife the following day.

Good find. Dropped in tonight while out in Sunshine, the food was great and at a good price. Very friendly and attentive waiters and place had a nice atmosphere and vibe.

Snail in my friend's food, food isn't good.. Disgraceful... I ordered an egg noodle combination stir fry, and there was literally a snail on her vegetables.

Also the spicy beef vermicelli noodles there taste as though it was just boiled water with Vietnamese fermented shrimp paste and a touch of spicy beef soup stock. It was just plain and worst than mi goreng.

The third and final stop on the Sunshine Pho Fever tour was actually just a short hop next door to the Nhi Nuong - 2 Sisters restaurant, which relatively recently replaced a previous pho eatery on the same site. The décor was definitely Asian themed, After a brief and passionate introduction to the restaurant we were treated to a couple of songs from our hosts, which was a welcome surprise.
MEL: HOT OR NOT
They were so excited to welcome us into their restaurant, even festooning our central table with balloons, that it was all quite humbling. As for the phở, the broth was rather oily and was too strong in anise flavour for my taste. Still good, but not as good as Phở Hien Saigon.
