I have always loved Market Lane coffee. The standard of brew has always been excellent so it's a no brainer to grab one of these cups when shopping at the Prahran market.
I love how friendly the staff are. Always happy to help you out with choices for take home beans, and their coffee is just so delicious. It's very convenient having this coffee available all across the suburbs and city.
Literally come here every weekend for this mushroom burger it’s honestly soo good! Coffee is always fail safe.
Visited Market Lane after hearing great things. I had a flat white, but I found it just okay. It was a little bit more milky than I would’ve liked, but it was still a good coffee - piping hot and smooth. We also bought some beans to take home to try.

great coffee, great service. I always order a latte with normal milk, very basic but never disappoints! I love the ambience of the cafe as well, I usually go to the one on collins street, very warm toned and a bit of a vintage vibe. Love it!

I come here so often that I don’t even bother taking photos anymore. A signature coffee cup is not just what keeps me coming back, especially since I moved here. It’s also the delicious coffee and good service. Strategically located at prahran market, I would have a cheese sandwich and stop by here for my caffeine. Please don’t change :)
They offer a great quality of coffee. The setting of the place is not like any other coffee shops in Melbourne as we can directly see the roasting process of the coffee. Because they roast the coffee in place, we can directly smell the coffee when entering the shop. The coffee was however quite bitter and strong in taste. Coffee lovers may love it.
Mushroom burger is better than what I thought! Seems like mushroom burger is available at weekends only, try it, you would know simple ingredients can also make impressive food. like their filter coffee, it’s smooth, first time I feel filter coffee tastes better than milk coffee
Much larger setting compared to other Market Lane shops.. Consistent quality coffee, market lane coffee is an iconic must try in Melbourne.. A bit on the pricey side ($4.80 for a latte)..
I really do like the coffee here. Strong, balanced, and with a smooth creamy mouthfeel. The absence of skinny milk or non-dairy option does not bother me too much, but I can totally understand how frustrating this can be for some.
The service is casual and friendly, and there's often a queue, due to the laidback vibe and also because there's really that many who come here for their morning cuppa before doing their shopping at Prahran Market.
A very spacious cafe and nice ambience! They were roasting the beans at the side of the cafe and found that very amusing. Coffee quality is great as usual, the gigantc chocolate chip cookie with a sprinkle of salt on top was perfect with a cup of flat white.
Came here for their weekend mushroom burger! Actually, the 4 rating was solely for it haha. The bun was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The portobello mushroom was perfectly seasoned and moist! It was a bit pricey for a snack, but gee it’s worth it!
Their coffee was okay tho. I had a hot latte, which like many coffee in Melbourne, served in tiny glass lol. But it taste good! And the waiter was really friendly :).
If I have to recommend one place for coffee in Melbourne, it's Market Lane Coffee. They were serving Mushroom Burger when we visited which was lovely. I have tried their flat white and it's superb 👌🏼 Must visit for coffee ❤️

It is absolutely delicious! The bun does not uses the regular burger bun and instead of soft bread, it is toasty and a satisfying crunch results from your first bite. The vegetarian mushroom patty with its juiciness eradicates any thoughts of meat - because it doesn’t need any to satisfy your appetite! It is also topped with sauce that compliments its taste. A definite must-try vegetarian burger option!
Had a coffee here on a rainy day and it really warmed me up. I fell in love with the atmosphere here, watching people busy shopping in the market and on the street. They only have coffee even if you are craving for a hot chocolate
One for the coffee purists - they serve a variety of specialty roasts in the typical formats, plus offering pour-overs which delivers the full expression of the bean.
Do note that it's one of the few cafes that do a standard 2 shots of espresso in a small cup, so if you order a strong, it will be 3 shots and you'll be smacked across the face with a bag full of beans.
Quite busy at times and getting a table may be tough, but it's worth to stay and enjoy the coffee in the rustic design of the café, with the market just beyond the doors.

Ok so I didn't like that they don't do decaf, skinny milk OR put the lid on take away coffees - but the saving grace... how damn good the coffee is!! Maybe just work on getting some decaf too though as it's excluding that part of the market that can't have caffeine but love the taste of coffee :)
Market lane coffee... hard not to stop! The smell of the coffee beans roasting, the nice large windows... very friendly staff and coffee which never disappoints. Would love if they had a large cup. Pastries are good too!
Late afternoon coffee runs when you're having a lazy weekend is a must. Quick moving staff and spacious with its seating, Market Lane Coffee is the place to grab a latte and sit down while you reply to those emails or whatnot.

Nicely located on the edge of the Prahran Market - good coffee (as they should) but my one complaint is the lack of 'alternative milks'. I would think, especially given how competitive the 'coffee run' market is in Melbourne that they would have decided to be more inclusive but nothing has changed as of yet. It's one of their defining features almost as if they're making a point by only going cows milk, I think soy is on the menu but it's time for some almond!
Coffee here is top notch one of the best in Melbourne and if u like mushrooms u gotta try their burger. It is to die for. Very busy on the weekends but well worth the wait.
Had a nice filter coffee here. The order: a Dos Carlos (I believe that was the name) filer coffee. To takeaway. That takeaway was a good decision: it was very crowded here. Probably nice place for catch up with people but I wasn't in that mood today

We pretty much come here everytime we go to Prahran market. Coffee is consistant and service is really good. One time I didn't get my coffee and went up asking, the coffee came in a second and got offered the next coffee for free. Impressed by their customer service even I'm already a loyal customer. :)
I love Melbourne. We have a proud coffee culture that fortunately translates to boutique cafes satisfying patrons with quality coffee. It is not surprising that Market Lane Coffee has gained a significant cult following. The coffee is exquisite. Fortunately for its fans in the CBD, a new store opened last week in Victoria Market, offering the same service to the original store at Prahran Market. Don’t try ordering a skinny anything or a mocha. It is an insult to pure coffee. And more practically, they simply do not serve coffee in that fashion. They take their coffee seriously and for very good reason.
From all the places that serves coffee and I've tried, I think this place should be on the top5 best coffee in Melbourne. Very nice urban interior.

I always stop at Market Lane Coffee when doing groceries at Prahran Market. The space is cool and the coffee is consistently good. I have ordered both hot and cold coffees and both have been great.

Market lane coffee in prahran is the better ones compared with the Queen Victoria Market. Service is great and coffee aroma is wonderful. I always love the first sip of coffee there, depending on the coffee beans (the fruity aroma is my favourite).
Market Lane Coffee has infiltrated many pockets of Melbourne, with locations in Prahran Market, Queen Victoria Market, Carlton and the city. Like the Pied Piper of Melbourne, each outpost attracts regular hoards of the coffee-craving. The only downside to Market Lane Coffee is that they’re coffee purists, which means no soy or skim milk. This is great for those allergic to dairy (myself included). But what’s an occasional skin rash when you can have some of Melbourne’s best velvet-tasting coffee?
Got a coffee voucher from a friend and dropped by to order a takeaway coffee. Coffee was beautiful in aroma, texture and taste, one of the best coffees I've had in a while. 9.5/10 - will recommend and be back if in the area.

I absolutely love Market Lane. I was here almost everyday as on my trip to Melbourne. They are consistent with their coffee and food, and the staff there absolutely smash the busy rushes like it has nothing on them! The market next door is a big bonus too! See you guys soon!! Nice environment serving great smooth coffee.. Was after coffee beans for my coffee machine at home, the staff attended to us was really friendly and explained the taste between the diff choices of coffee blends they offered.. However, my friend's flat white was slightly sour, prob over extracted... Mine latte was close to perfect.. recommend to try if u're a coffee enthusiast like me :)
Lots of knowledge from staff helps you pick out a great coffee every time! They also sell coffee wares like filter papers, beans, etc to take home and make your own.

Always nice to grab a cup of latte here after/in-between grocery shopping at Prahran Market, Aldi, or Fujimart that surround this place. For a city which coffee shops are almost always very small in size, it's refreshing to sit down for awhile here, because the shop is large with many chairs and benches. Staffs are always exceptionally friendly too! I'd rather go to this one anytime compared to the one in QVM.

This little place next to Prahran Markets has THE BEST BURGERS I have ever had in my life - anywhere, ever! The two guys just outside setup on a Saturday and make the best mushroom burgers you will ever experience. They're heaven in a bun 👍😍
A nice cafe tucked at a corner right inside the Prahran Market. Nice decor & vibe. They roast their own beans here onsite, which is really cool to watch. Coffee was ok, there are better ones in Melbourne. Downside is they only serve one size with one type of milk, so I can't have a large skinny latte. The Escargot pain au raisin & the Almond croissant were amazing!

First time ever I had tried coffee spritz. Nice unique texture yet good aroma. I like how the tonic gas reacts to a creamier créma, it's like froth without dairy to some.
Nice specialty coffee located inside prahran market, nearly went to the wrong cafe "market espresso". Had a decent coffee smooth texture and clean finish. The staffs were nice and smiley. Good ambiance, definitely coming back!

Service with a smile, always busy, but never kept waiting too long. There is indoors, bench & outdoor seating. I have never eaten food here as it is very carb heavy, it's a coffee shop & th at is what they do best.

The Saturday mushroom burgers are absolutely amazing! A perfect balance of crusty bread, juicy mushroom, creamy chipotle mayo, Parmesan cheese and zingy onion, this is a menu item I've come back for time and time again. The guys set up a BBQ outside each Saturday morning and always draw a crowd. Unfortunately, I haven't tried the coffee so can't comment on it. Their shroom burger is top of my list, and it is just too difficult to order one of these outside, order a coffee from inside, while also trying to stake out a place to sit on a busy Saturday morning. Maybe they could also take coffee orders from the BBQ or vice versa?
Very nice coffee, sweet cherry taste! Nice atmosphere too and you can stroll into the markets and grab your good. Recommended for coffee lovers and also the lovely treats too, fresh and not stale like some other places.
In need of a coffee while we were entertaining our grandson (toddler) we headed for "Market Lane". His parents like this place and so do we. The coffee is terrific! Everything that we look for in a well made coffee rich and full of flavour. But while the adult coffee is almost without equal the "Baby Chino" had too much milk and not enough foam for my discerning grandson. He ended up chasing the birds and crawling under the table after spilling the milk all over himself.
I was never a coffee drinker until I moved to Melbourne, and this is something I'm grateful for. Coffee shops like Market lane really make quality coffee and explore the complete potential of the bean. They also offer cupping sessions, coffee making workshops and courses on roasting and brewing, and are situated within the gorgeous surrounds of the Prahran markets.
It's a bold claim but I'll even go as far as to say that they do my absolute favourite coffees in Melbourne!

I like the way they do my iced coffee and lattes, but I do agree with the soy issue - I can only come here myself since my partner cannot have dairy milk.
Wondering how Market Lane will resolve this since thousands of places plus the high-end cafes are okay with how they serve soy coffees themselves.
Very very good coffee! My only issue was the wait time, but as I was not in a huge rush, it did not bother me as much as it usually would have.

If you are in the Prahran area, skip the Huxtaburger nightmare and head to the Market – you should be doing this anyway because it is a joy and one of my favourite places in the cosmos – and follow your nose to the curious little stand outside Market Lane Coffee. Place was nice and quite spacious, serves coffee and a small selection of pastries. Latte's at $4, no extra charge for soy (great news for soy drinkers like me).
My favourite weekend coffee place is Market Lane. It’s consistently awesome due to their high quality beans and milk (Jonesy’s) and top notch skilled baristas.

This was the best coffee we had and I think it was attributed to the organic milk used and coffee bean sourced. However, the regular size seemed to be smaller than usual and the price was above average.
We also had the Guatemalan La Perla pour over that was very clear and juicy, with a sweet mandarin citrus flavour. After that, we even attended a cupping session that they run from Thursdays to Sundays at 10am (free) that lasts for an hour.
These guys are really serious about coffee. In this busy world of multi-tasking, instant gratification, and often way too many choices and options, it's actually really refreshing to see such a dedicated and single minded approach to the one thing that is important to them. And that, is coffee. I am the first to admit that I'm no coffee connoisseur. I appreciate a good brew, and all I look for in a cup is consistency, pleasant taste, and no bitterness. Coffee here is the main star. To the point that there is no mocha here, just pure coffee. (Well, there is tea for those who are less caffeine-driven) I must admit I started to drink mochas as they are more forgiving if the beans and the baristas are not up to the tip-top standards of
Since Prahran Market is my local market, I come to this Market lane shop more often than I do with the other shops that they have. I usually either order skinny latte or skinny flat white. My first experience was really good. The coffee was done so well I was craving for it the next day. Then I noted after a few more cups of coffee I had here, that it varies with the barista. I guess you might say that I am really disappointed because I'm expecting consistency. I really enjoy Market Lane coffee beans and if only each cup of coffee is made the same then that would be perfect. Staff has always been pleasant though.
Pour overs and esspresso at marketlane are a standout. And the smell of coffee is something else here. One of my favourites in melbourne.
