When I’m up in the legal precinct and feel like a treat I can’t go past this place. Sadly Le Rare Roast Beef is so delicious I’ve struggled to taste many others. Chewy, crusty baguette stuffed with rare thinly sliced roast beef, lettuce, tomato and cornichons and finished with mayo and tangy mustard. I can’t eat a whole one... the service is just wonderful and they don’t mind if you practice your hack at French. Highly recommended.
Moderately priced for quick lunch.
Authentic baguette cafe in Queen Street. Tous les jours madeleines et waffles maison (every day madeleines and waffles house). The owner is Murielle and all the staff are French, super friendly and always chatting to customers in French. The soup of the day ranges from Mushroom to lentil and vegetable (+ you can get their half baguettes which are some of the best baguettes going around). Soup always runs out by 1pm - so get in quick!!! Best French spot in the city.
Most delicious baguette I had today that reminded me of being in France 14 years ago. warm bread and creamy mayonnaise with a vegetarian filling. Friendly quick service for my lunchtime snack. I will be back for sure!
A lovely space, lovely food and lovely service. I would recommend to everyone who enjoys fresh sandwiches and good coffee and french accents. I will definitely be back.
Ordered the Le Parisien, the baguette was a little hard for my liking but the simple taste of ham, cheese, mustard and pickle was good. For $11, the price is a little steep but considering all their other fillings with more ingredients are the same price, might try the others another time.
A bonus that the staff all speak French.

Had my first saucisson here. The lady was very sweet, good service. I thought the saucisson was much better compared to the ham. The toasted baguette made it an amazing meal - it was crunchy on the outside, balanced with fluffiness inside.
Been going here for nearly a year as my office is across the road. Staff are always lovely and friendly and now know me by name. The food is absolutely fantastic and the coffee is always made just right. Highly recommend the croque monsiuer for breakfast or a traditional ham and cheese croissant. I have even picked up some french with the owner speaking to me and teaching me each time I go there it's great!
This week place is consistently great. Some of the best baguettes in town and with friendly service. Standard items are all good but best item I’ve discovered from my boss is an off menu item he told me not to name. It’s butter, avocado, tomato, cheese, salt, pepper and a splash of their balsamic/EVO dressing. Dynamite
So good, there is a reason for the queue out the door. Do wish there was more roll combinations but what it there is also good. Ingredients are fresh, bread is amazing.
Absolutely love this place for a quick lunch when working in the city. The baguettes are delicious and the service is lovely. The owner (?) tries to remember everyones name and has puppy friends come by the door for chicken treats. She's so lovely! Highly recommend the 'Vegetarian B' which has egg, tomato, lettuce, and the tastiest Emmental cheese.
Small little French cafe with their main menu item being baguettes with select fillings. I couldn't go past their Le Lyonnais because I love a good saucisson, salty and fatty. The baguette itself wasn't as rock hard as it'd expect but it was nice and crusty, excellent. The pickles in it however were too sour for my liking and was overpowering all the other elements in my sandwich especially when you've got Dijon mustard in there also. I eventually took them out and it was fine.
I wish they had other cured meats for their baguettes, I guess I just love my salty fatty cured hams. Their soup of the day looked pretty darn good also complimented with a baguette.
Delicious baguettes and very courteous service. The roast beef with brie was amazing. Friend got a Normandy and she thought it was also amazing. Cafe was a little bit small but takeaway option is quick.
Went here two days ago and the experience here was amazing. The fresh baguettes was delicious and was only $10. I will defiantly be coming around more often and I recommend you do to
Best baguettes in the city by far! Amazingly fresh bread baked on the premises, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I've had the ham one and the roast beef one (the owner's personal fave) and they are both amazing. Try it, you won't regret it! They are huge and a bargain at $10.
Tasty fresh lovely warm bread and good fillings. Owner is french I believe and very nice. Definitely rate it over Kenny's or N Lee. Get the Parisienne or roast beef.
Yummy sandwiches made with fresh crunchy baguettes. The sandwiches reminded of my trips to France and one of my regular favs. The sandwiches are generously topped, very simple but very filling. I had the Le Perisien and Le Lyonnais. The gherkins were similar to the ones i had in France accompanied with delicious mustard. The lady who runs the shop is from France and she's an absolute delight!very nice and very welcoming.
Overall for $10 the size of the sandwich (for me at least) was enough to last me two meals. Loved the simplicity of the meal as well as the generous size and the yumminess of it. Definitely recommend it for those on a hunt for similarly authentic french baguette sandwiches!!
Just like in France! These baguettes are so good. You can tell that quality ingredients are used, baguette is super fresh and crusty. They bake them fresh in store so it's still warm when you get it. I had the chicken, beef and plain jam. Best breakfast ever. Great service too! I've been coming here for the past year and they are still so good!
Closest to a French baguette I've had in Melbourne. The owner is French and she knows her stuff. So delicious, so French, and such friendly service - definitely deserves a higher rating!
The roast beef baguette is delicious! Owner is freench and always nice to chat. If you wanna go for great baguette, this is great option. Thus place deserves much better rating!
Baguette menu pretty much the same as Waffle On In Degraves St, both $10 for baguettes. Had the vegetarian egg baguette which had Eggs, cheese, pickles, tomatoes, salad, pickles and mayonnaise. Salad was standard mixed salad mix which is a bit bitter, pickles are miniature in size and are more of the typical pickles you get instead of the sweet and sour variety. Baguette was freshly baked and had a good crunch. Overall, a good baguette but could do with some pepper seasoning for the vegetarian egg baguette. Service was fine. They also have a small selection of pastries including belgium liege waffles (deep pockets) that waffle on, the waffle club and waffee also sell. The waffle($4)was a nice portion, larger than waffee and waffle club which is justifidied given it's slightly pricier. Give this place a try if you're a fan of waffle on, personally prefer waffle on though.
Delicious authentic French baguettes. They are crispy, fresh and have very French fillings. $10 each and warm out of the oven, they are a winner! Homemade soup and coffee are definitely the best on Queen Street. I highly recommend this place. The staff are very welcoming and quick to serve with a smile.
This is a must try. The bread is so nice and fresh, and great ingredients make this an amazing baguette. Frequent nearly every week since I've discovered it.
How this place only gets 2.9 I have no idea. Amazing French baguettes made with freshly cooked bread on site. $10 each. I am a regular here. They are so delicious!
Just discovered this place recently and love it as a quick lunch spot. The two vegetarian options (cheese/tomato/butter and egg/pickles) are both delicious. The baguettes they use are wonderfully crispy on the outside and soft inside. The owners/staff are also super friendly.
The only thing is that the baguettes are huge - I wish they did half baguettes, because with a full baguette I'm always tempted to eat the whole thing and then spend the rest of the afternoon in a bit of a food coma.
What a delightful little spot! It's Queen Street's response to Waffle On (on Degraves), however the staff at French Fix are far more friendly! They go out of their way to greet you with a smile regardless of how busy they are, and light up when you use your (in my case limited) French. Lunch is reasonable at $10 for any baguette, and they're happy to split it in two if you're looking to save some for later. Ingredients are simplistic and spot on, exactly as it's done in France. Plus, extra points for being open the first week back after Christmas, unlike every other outlet on the street! I hope they find their groove in this new location because I don't want them going anywhere :)
Fab little French fix. A new baguette and crepe place has popped up recently on Queen St, amidst existing Italian restaurants. It's a welcome addition and French twist to the fine local eating establishments.
With whip precision, fresh warm baguettes are sliced open and generously filled with high quality ingredients. All are $10. I chose the Roast Beef, the photo of which is only half the serve. Great flavours, complete with tasty tomatoes and salty cornichons (called French pickles for the uninitiated). I took my baguette back to the office but there's a few seats in this small place. I really enjoyed my lunch, and hope this place flourishes.
What I assume to be the owner, was so friendly. He was so polite and the coffee was one of the best I’ve had in a long time! Will definitely come back ❤️
Great coffee, great pastries, small but cozy environment. Best of all great staff and professional barista. I think their magic is one of the best in CBD. It makes me feels like I’m having coffee in Italy 🇮🇹. Couldn’t ask for more!
A small cafe, but the taste of coffee is amazing!
Located in Melbourne CBD, convenient place, so worth visiting!

Great little cafe with sensational coffee. Visit in the morning and you are sure to overhear some interesting conversations between legal barristers discussing their cases. The cafe is the legal precinct. Service was a little slow as they were flat out being prime breakfast time. Certainly worth a visit.
Food is always great here, especially eggs in the morning or freshly made pies for lunch. But the coffee is what I always head to Speck for. It’s just Michel doing the coffee and Catherine making all the delicious food. In particular, I am partial to the croissants and biscotti that is made there. Great for takeaway or dine in. Wonderful atmospheric Italian cafe.
Comfortable and peaceful mood.
Staff is very kind and made me coffee with soy milk that is the most fantastic coffee that I've had until now. Thank you
Michael was an absolute gentleman, celebrating an engagement tonight. Michael is highly professional and made everyone feel at home. The food was immaculate, overall we were so impressed with the service and qualith of the food, will definitely be back! Would give 6 out of 5 stars if i could.
Best coffee in the town, the man brews it with pride and passion.
The almond croissant is my favourite snack, if you like that kind of coffee snacks you will not regret trying it.
The service is second to none in the Melbourne cbd.
