Review The Spice Dine - Melbourne

I tried few of Indian restaurants in Sydney and Gold Coast. But this is good Indian restaurant for lunch in Sydney. Myself and family members enjoyed with Indian food. The service is very quick and the food taste is very good.Restaurant ambiance and interior is good.

They have a lunch deal for 7 95 but the plate they serve in has a space for 2 table spoon, on top of that extra rice naan salad or raita is paid, and gst on top. So its better the owners should state these things on the menu first.

Ordered for lunch and the curry was very watery with no flavour... Don't know why they have such good reviews unless dinner is different but I don't know how it would change much. Also got overcharged $1 wouldn't of cared if the lunch was nicer but abit annoyed now since I didn't enjoy it.

Wednesday Buffett 18$/p. Reached there ard 7 45 PM.. food was getting ready. Fish curry n beef curry was very tasty. kerala porota was good. idiyappam and kadalacurry was ok but it can improve.u should change the plastic plates you serve buffet.A restaurant with good potential but lacks ambience.

Very bad customer experience. Had to wait for 20mins to get the order taken and then I walked out. Regarding food quality, they ruin the name of kerala food (from couple other occasions I had food from there). A typical nan and curry place which you get much cheaper in other places. Seating is decent, but staff ruin it all

One of the worst restaurants I've ever been, basically they loot their customers, no proper menu and pricing, it's all decided dynamically by the owner, Plates are utter small and even if you take just 1 paneer, he charges you like 3 dollars more. Never server you roti and make you wait for like 40 mins for it, so that you get pissed and go away.

Adequate work lunch option. Tables and plates could be cleaner. Seemed hygenic enough but there were stains on things. Service was quite slow. They are able to seat a largish group without bookings though.

Worst experiance ever in my life. I dont knew waht happen to this guy (manager on 16th june, 17). You dont knew, how to behave with your customers and thinking that your food is perfect in melbourne....not yet..one of the worst experiance i ever had in my life. If the food is not upto the mark .....its your problem. Dont blame customers not to waste food..bla bla bla.. Mind your words....we are not kindergarten kids. ....Service is good.....

If u r desp in need of some indian food then go here. But otherwise u can give it a miss. Wednesday has Kerala night but the food doesn't do justice to the cuisine. Never going back.

Been here thrice, only on Fridays as we ran out of options in other restaurants. One of the pathetic restaurant I have even been in Melbourne. Pathetic experience, never ever going here again. Unhygienic, arrogant staff, they make you wait for ages to give naan and retard pricing in the menu. The moment you touch another serving, the price will be raised exorbitantly. No proper naming conventions, small plates, small portions, tasteless food. If you are a vegetarian, never go here. To give an example for instance that occurred to me, I chose the 8 dollar menu and I went to the counter to pay, the owner was looking at me as if I like I stole his food and was giving a vibe that I'm in some kind of prison and he is the warden, he charged me 12 dollars instead of 8, when I asked the reason, he mentioned a paneer is on the empty side of the plate, which is considered as another portion. Yeah! that's true.

Found myself seriously short on time for lunch today so called into The Spice Dine for a very reasonably price curry in a hurry meal. For $7.95 they offer a single serve of curry with rice and a delicious naan bread. Add an extra curry for $3 and raita and pickles for $1. I chose butter chicken (of course I did). This particular Pre-made curry was well picked over but I managed to get significant meat still and scooped plenty of the sauce over the plain rice which really needed seasoning. The butter chicken was ok taste wise but perhaps a little watery. Naan was very nicely cooked with slight char. The interior fit out was nice and but didn't make you think Indian eatery at all... more western cafe/restaurant. There was a substantial bar with range or reasonably priced drinks. There is an a la cart menu for those wanting something a little more lingering with mains in the vicinity of $15 each and banquets to make deciding easy.

Having only just discovered this place, it is now the closest Indian eatery from work which puts it in a very enviable category for time poor me and my sometimes half hour lunches.

They could improve the dining perception immensely by getting rid of the plastic thali trays and replacing them with stainless steel.

Food was okay.

I am rating the service to low. The reason being they were rude. It was my first visit so I asked the waitress how it works and she told that I can have a 'one curry', lunch for 7,95. I took the plate, filled the curry in two blocks of plate (gravy in one and pieces in another with reasonable quantity off course) and put some gravy on rice. Now this lady tells me to pay for 2 curries. I was surprised and told I didn't know that this is how it works and also you should have told me earlier as you were standing right there.

At last I paid for 2 curries as I didn't want to waste my time for 3 dollars.

This dodgy boss doesn't pay the workers properly. 12 bucks an hour cash in hand is not OK. The boss actually thinks his staff should live in poverty. Disgusting. This is wage theft! Bullies international students with threats over visas. This business is scum.

Planned to eat here tonight. Booked for 6 people at 6pm. Unfortunately didn't get to try the food as they had no idea we'd booked. The waitress stared at us blankly and looked around the room, vaguely pointed at a 4 person table. No checking of a booking book. Just said sorry, no, can't fit you in. She didn't even seem to know there was a bookings system. It's not easy to find a restaurant to seat 6 people at the last moment on a Friday night. Would never go back.

A group of us dined for lunch and had the buffet. For $15 there's a selection of meat and veg curries plus rice and naan. There was no naan when we got our food however it came out later then ran out again quickly before I could get any. By the time I was nearly finished eating they brought around some fresh naan for me, it was hot, fluffy and delicious but very late. Curries were flavorsome and the paneer was good. Service was friendly. I was hoping for home made lassi but it's the bottled stuff. Not bad, not great.

If there was an option for giving -1 .. I would have selected that. Pathetic and sloppy service and overpriced substandard food

Went for dinner. Ordered rasam as starter and rice. Only to be told by a staff after 5 minutes that chef who cooked rasam has left for the day.. In my entire life I have never heard that reason in any of the restaurant that I have visited. After another 10 min the waitresses came to say that choley and poori which we ordered can't be served.

I ordered dal and rice . Dal was served after 10 min without rice. And they forgot to serve rice. I had to remind them . By the time rice came .. I had already lost my appetite .. Not to forget the quantity . Of dal for which they charged 16$ came in a really small bowl..
Absolute waste of money

Most of the dishes in the menu was not available to order. Reason which they gave was chef isnt available which cook those dishes . Finally I have ordered Aloo Ghobi & Aloo in aloo ghobi dish was not fully cooked. Overall service was very slow .

Had aloo parantha and paneer tikka and they were really tasty! Though I think the gulab jamun (dessert) could be made a little better. I love how the staff is very friendly here, this simply makes one want to visit this restaurant again!

This place has definitely improved a lot on food in last one year. My previous visits were not so great but yesterday was good!
Paneer tikka masala was rich in taste, and the cheese was juicy...Loved it!
Chicken Vindaloo was great and had the spicy taste that I had expected. Spice alert on this one!!
Service is as good as before and they treat you really well.
We regularly take away food here and the paneer dishes and naans are spot on. Have not dined in but would highly recommend the food. The portions are generous as well and really like that there is variety on the menu.

Went here for a lunch with some team members, everyone went with the $15 buffet so I did too. Good if you want a big feed and are looking for value, didn't love the plastic trays. Good mix of meat and vegetarian dishes, some of the food was not as hot temperature wise as I would have liked but the spices and flavours were good. Naan was very good though. The also have Bollywood movies playing on the tv!

We came here using a voucher which allowed 2 mains, some naan and 2 desserts. The mains are quite small on their own but if you order an entree like we did and desserts, it's the perfect size. Service was OUTSTANDING, very friendly and the food was yum! Looks very clean and well kept. We will be back.

Have been to this place twice, first time on voucher and 2nd time without. If you are after a work lunch in Docklands and love Indian food, this is one of the recommended restaurant. Food is very tasty, the $10 lunch special is just about right in terms of the size of the meal. Don't have any issues with the service( Lunch does't require too much service anyway)

Wont go back again. Served the wrong order and after informing the management about the wrong dishes been served he change it to the correct one but charge me for the wrong dish as well !!!!
It was a terrible experience overall. We were moved from the initial table as they told us that it has been reserved. We went for dinner and the last to leave the restaurant and I noticed that no one used that table!!
I will not recommend anyone going there.

Best Indian food ever. We had a dinner at the spice dine Docklands, the best food and service, the chicken pistachio Korma and paneer chilly fry is really too good. We highly recommend this place, don't bother bad review all are fake.

All the dishes we ordered were very tasty & the garlic naans were to die for. The service was excellent & we enjoyed our dinner.

Terrible terrible terrible. Loudest music (like nightclub loud at 9:30pm) would not turn it down at patrons request. Small servings, horrible service. No cutlery or serviettes given until we asked for them. Would never recommend.
