I had lunch here and I ordered a bento box w chicken sukiyaki. The service was friendly and the bento box was excellent.
The interesting thing was that you get to order a big plate, a small plate and a side dish. I really like this as you can pick what you want rather than being given everything.
In the bento box salad was fresh and tasty, the boiled rice was good, and the chicken sukiyaki was good but a bit dry.
Fort small plate I ordered pork gyoza and these were alright but again a bit dry.
The miso soup which was my side dish was delicious, and one of the best ones that I’ve had in a very long time.
Overall this was a really tasty meal.
I came to this Japanese Bento place with a couple of friends. Unfortunately the service here is very poor as there was only one person serving us. This may explain why every time I walk past this place, it seems quite empty compared to the bustling restaurants beside it. You order at the counter and they bring you your food, which took a while.
The food is very delicious. They have a deal where you can order your udon, bento, or whatever main you want, and add on a side dish and Koichi Yuzo for only $4. I really enjoyed the poached egg with the rest of the dish. I found the serving size very appropriate- it filled me up so I wasn’t bursting, but still left satisfied. The pork gyoza was really tasty- mhmmm 😋😋.
Ordered through the EatClub app and got a 40% off discount. Portions were generous and food was good (katsu curry udon was really good/although miso soup was lacking, tasted like instant miso). Service was really good & super quick (only waited around 5-7mins for 4 meals) Really worth it when discounted but may be slightly overpriced without.
Ordered donburi with katsu chicken curry and a side of ebi furai.
Unfortunately, was told curry is unavailable but instead the was teriyaki sauce. Truth be told sauce was very thick and very sweet, not a fan of the sauce. Chicken was crunchy and moist.
Ebi furai was good. Crispy and crunchy.
Definitely be back to try other dishes. Great prices.
Venue was very nice. Open, spacious and decorated well. Nice and friendly staff.
It was my first time to try Japanese food I tried the Bento was really really good the staff was very friendly then via meant a really nice good luck
Service was great, decor was bright and tasteful with quite a bit of thought gone into it.
Menu reminded me of many of the restaurants in Tokyo. Simple. Complimentary green tea.
5 varieties of protein Big Plates: (teriyaki chicken, chicken katsu curry, sukiyaki beef, chicken sukiyaki, Hamburg teriyaki)
small Plates and snacks.
With your choice of Bento $15.90, Donburi 11.90, Udon or Udon Curry $11.90.
I had the Bento with katsu chicken curry, and crab claw- loved the curry and the chicken. Crab claw was lovely and highly recommended.
The Udon curry unfortunately did not have enough curry in the dish - some may find it overwhelming and prefer this option though.
I think this is a great option for a good quality meal at this price. Downside is that being on Lygon St,where most people are hunting for Italian food, this may be a bit of a challenge.
The bento concept is a great idea for lunch. I had Donburi with chicken katsu and curry sauce. Overall I thought the food was served relatively fast (in 10 mins) and the bento was generous, authentic in flavours and delicious. Even the rice was definitely authentic Japanese rice and cooked perfectly. Overall, I couldn't fault the place much for the quality except that the service staff need to improve the tracking of food to customers, as they seemed unsure who ordered what. Maybe providing the customers each with a number stand might work? Also we didn't get any free green tea, that would have been nice if we were offered some.
We discovered this restaurant through the Eatclub app, and had a delightful lunch on a Saturday. We ordered two bentos, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The chicken teriyaki is particularly recommended - the chicken appears to have been grilled first before being stir-fried with the teriyaki sauce, which imparts a smokey tasty flavour on the dish. It would have been reasonable at full-priced, and great value when discounted...!
Japanese restaurant located in a string of Italian restaurants on Lygon! Ordered the Beef Udon and I enjoyed how it wasn't too salty like most places serving udon in Melbourne. They added fried garlic on top of the beef which was different? Not in a bad way I guess. Also got the Spicy Chicken Egg Roll donburi. Four pieces of rolls on top of rice. It wasn't crispy at all but at the flavours were alright.
This place is good. Delicious chicken cooked on the grill with charocal flavour. The miso is a bit weak but they have taken my feedback and are making it stronger 👍 the service is great and atmosphere is chilled. Definitely will come back.

Had the beef sukiyaki udon & the spicy chicken egg & hamburg, I loved it!!! Can't wait to go backkk! ;) delicious! Super cute design too!!
Shukufuku's Beef Sukiyaki is soooooo good I keep coming back for more. Love their Shoyu Udon, Ebi Furai, Crab Claws, and Tofu as well. It's just so hard to choose sometimes that I end up getting almost everything? :P
Aside from the delicious food, won't forget to mention the super cool interior. The kind of place that you'd want to sit and just chill while sipping Japanese fizzy drinks and green teas that they offer.
Overall, if you feel like having a hearty, clean, and delicious Japanese food, Shukufuku is the place to go! Nom nom nom ;)
Nice and fresh flavours and space. Had miso soup, chicken teriyaki and ebi fry bento. Pity the small salad in my bento was very old and withered. Rice was nice.
Amazing foods! I have been there several times. The food is sooo yummy and the portion is good enough! My favourites are spicy chicken egg roll and beef sukiyaki. They had lovely interior and the place is so comfortable. I will come back for sure!
This spot really stands out on lygon since it is just tooooo new... Good enough for a quick lunch, average bento with clean and nice atmosphere. I'll choose this as my daily lunch if it has a store in the Uni. Ps: spicy chicken roll is really nice

Comforting and filling. I had their beef sukiyaki & spicy chicken egg roll sides on bento. The beef sukiyaki is so soft and moist. The broth/sauce and the crunchy fried onion really complements the overall taste. The egg rolls are the best seller here! The bento box is great in portion but if you want something lighter, there is a donburi option.

Head down to Carlton cause you need to try this new place in town! Recently opened their door on Lygon Street, Shukufuku Japanese Bento will certainly catch your attention with its geometric and bold coloured theme. 'Lego Your Bento' is the motto and you will soon know why. Just like a Lego, you can create and personalise your own bento/ donburi and TwoPaperPen loves it!

I had the hamburg bento and add crab claw for extra sides. The beef patty was cooked medium to well done, which is perfect as the subtle pink centre. The patty was not dry and the seasoning really makes it tastier. Totally love the crab claw, too tasty to be described!
loved it! quick, v tasty, good mix of meat, veg and salad. Excellent service and very clean. Well done Shukufuku, ill definitely be back for more!
Very stylish new bento and dontori spot on the very busy Lygon Street, close to Melbourne Uni.
You can design your own bento or dontori with quite a few options and extras.

The food was good and came fairly quickly for a group of 5. The setting is bright and vibrant and can accommodate around 25 people.
Amazing place. Great food and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend
Shukufuku is one of my favorite restaurants in Melbourne. I often dine here or order it for delivery. I first ate here when it just opened. Ever since then, I come get quite often and never get bored of it. My favorite dishes are the curry udon and their spicy chicken egg roll. Their new drink, koichi yuzu is also very refreshing and different. I always feel welcome every time I come cause all the staff are very friendly. I really recommend people to go here.
I loved this! I ordered takeout. It was prepared and arrived in no time at all and was so tasty! They also wrote me a sweet note saying to enjoy my food which was so lovely.
