Bumped into this amazing salad place for some light food. I had one of the best salads with grilled fish I’ve ever had. Super healthy with no compromise in taste. Very filling and satisfying. Just one minor hiccup in this place is the sitting place. It’s not that good as it should be. But still, I’d love to come back to this place when I’ll be in Melbourne next.
Really enjoy stopping in for my lunch in Tank Emporium. It's located upstairs in a nice and spacious food court with lots of tables which is great if you're meeting friends on a lunch break or eating on your own. My favourite for a Friday treat is the crumbed fish burger and chips. I also love that they have the option of ordering grilled or battered fish so if you want to make a healthier choice you can. The grilled calamari and rosemary potato cakes are delicious too!
One of my go-to places for seafood! Can never go wrong with flake, always fried to perfection! Fish gut the perfect size and fries are crunchy and not too small! Make sure you try their burgers too (especially the crumbed fish burger).
Servings are big and prices really affordable. Highly recommended!
Definetely one of the fish & chip shops around! The batter they have is amazing. Everything is cooked perfectly and the seasoning is never over done so you can taste how good their produce is. Don't go past the cheeseburger. IT IS LEGIT
Really enjoyed my Deliveroo delivery of Tank. We got the barramundi w chips and salad and salmon w chips and salad, plus haloumi.
The fish was beautifully cooked, absolutely perfect. The salad was fresh and the chips were nice. Haloumi on the other hand was a bit oily and a bit overcooked. Price-wise it’s a bit exxy.
When I feel like a healthy lunch..I head to tank! No salad no rice but just the grilled fish. They make a killer perfectly cooked and moist fish. Great and quick customer service!
The grill fish was sooooo fresh and yummy. So forgot to take photo. Fries is always my favorite.Tradition set was valuable Recommend!recommended!
Tank is great for a big, reasonably priced feed. The salmon is always perfectly cooked and I really like the slaw and brown rice side dishes. For the amount of food you get, it is really well priced and the quality has been super consistent over the past few years I’ve been coming here. This outpost is much better than the Lygon St one in my opinion. Recommend this spot if in the CBD!
Pretty good fish and chips. They are pretty much the ones serving it the CBD besides the one shop in the QV markets.
Ordered the $12 standard fish and chips (they do have a surcharge for card) and the fish was crispy, chips too.
The fish was a little too oily though, seemed the meat had absorbed a little bit too much, the tartare sauce (?) was good but otherwise if you're looking for F&C, this is a nice place!
Tank may not be very veg friendly at all, but their grilled haloumi is to die for. They also do a veg burger that sounds great, although I've yet to try it. Don't overlook this seafood joint for some tasty, fresh and affordably priced vegetarian offerings.

Got the old school fish & chips. The fish was beautifully soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Chips were well seasoned and the sauce, although small, packs quite a zingy punch.
The only negative is that it leaves you feeling oily and in need of some greens afterwards.
Fresh fish and dishes are made fresh. Ordered the fish and chips with the catch of the day being the blue grenedier. The fish has a crispy batter and no fish smell. Simply amazing. Chips are kinda of hollow and dry with minimal crisp. The chip seasoning in some parts tasted zesty.
Calamari and chips are decent although only a few calamari. Calamari is soft and tender.
Seating wise is just an open shared space.
Super fresh and delicious! Love this place so much! Must try the grilled barramundi :) the rocket fennel salad is also a must. The quality of the food is better than most fish and chip places out there 👌🏼
Fish is fresh and well cooked is served with great sides. The service is always fast and efficent. Great healthy option if you are ever looking for one
While I find the price is a bit high for fish and chips the quality of the food sort of offset with the price. The fish is fresh, crispy at the outside and perfectly cook. Although it’s a bit small. The chips is perfectly fried with seasoning and generous. Love the tartar sauce.
I was craving fish & chips after not having it for a few years so my friend brought me to this place. I loved it! Service was friendly and super fast.
I ordered the ‘Old School Fish N’ Chips’ which included 2 pieces of catch of the day fish, chips and sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly with crispy batter, the chips were nicely seasoned and I really loved the tarter sauce they had.
Overall really good experience, would definitely come back here! Price was very reasonable for a very large filling meal. Also I liked the way they presented the meal on the plate and the overall design of the place.
Got a soft spot for the salads here, especially the calamari one it's pretty filling when I needs cut the kcals n all dat.
I'm not gonna lie it's got a nice design and just looking at the fresh feel makes me wanna get all up in that fishy wishy!
Located up in the Emporium food court, Tank does good fish and chips. They use a somewhat unconventional salt on the chips with a sun dried tomatoes flavour. The fish was juicy on this occasion and their calamari was tender (needs a bit more calamari). I prefer the Tank on Lygon Street better.
Ok so I went into this store looking for a simple salmon meal with brown rice/chips. Though the salmon was cooked perfectly and though the salad was well dressed surprisingly, the customer service was poor. The lady serving me and my friend had a terrible bitchy attitude and asked us whether we liked our salmon pink or cooked through. So slightly confused we clarified with her the difference because we assumed salmon should be cooked perfectly in one way and her response was an arrogant "its just a matter of personal opinion *sigh" so we ordered a meal and she didn't even add that to our order and blamed it on us so we were forced to apologise. This may be a minor issue as we are here primarily because of the food, but the attitude of the staff here is enough to blacklist this place.

Tank Fish and Chips nestled right on the corner in the Emporium food court, next to the impressive floor to ceiling window view of Melbourne city.
The menu is simple to understand, no fuss, no frills. You can have your fish grilled for healthier options, with four different salads to choose from, simple. Old School Fish n’ Chips is delicious and fresh, the chips is lightly flavoured and definitely good compliments for the classic battered fish. That tartare sauce is to die for!
A fish and Chippery with fine dining quality! I was so impressed with my beautiful grilled fish, rice and salad - and all for $15! I love coming here for a healthy yet satisfying lunch. The varied menu also includes classics such as battered fish and chips, dim sims and potato cakes.
Today I went to Tank Fish & Chippery after my exam. My meal for today was grilled salmon with quinoa salad, chips, and tartar sauce. First off, the chips were seasoned well and had just a tiny bit of lemon juice throughout. They were also crunch and slightly filling. The quinoa salad also had spinach and roast capsicum. The salad was lovely and had a slight sweetness to it. I love my salmon pink in the middle, and they did that perfectly. The issue I had that there was a fair amount of bones left in the filet.
Overall, $20.50 for the meal was definitely worth it. I'll probably go back here again, but I'll try something else next time.

Its been too cold to go to the beach late, well most days, flip a coin to predict Melbourne weather. Fortunately there's fish and chips in the city, uptown and downtown. The later is more of a takeaway joint, but the prior is within the Emporium's lvl3 food court, nice and warm. The Emporium Food Court is often where we choose to dine as we all order from different restaurants and still sit together. Tank is all about fresh seafood cooked passionately, every time. There's something for everyone, kids and adults, those who prefer salads and brown rice. Classic, burgers and tacos too.
It's a specialized fish and chips place and there fish and chips are perfect. We went for the family pack of four which included fish, potatoe cakes, French fries, garden salad and dumplings. It's simple and straightforward. Interior gives you a beach house vibe. Lovely to say the least.
Try the salmon. The grilled salmon is amazing. The rice is a bit oily and the food is pricey for food court food...but id be happy eating that at a restaurant
Tank Fish & C was featured as the top 10 Melb's best fish and chip 2016 on Goodfood.com.au. Went to Emporium food court and ordered their value for money kid's pack $7.50(crumbed calamari and battered fish w chips) together w grilled calamari and battered tiger prawn and scallop. It was fresh and portion was generous. I enjoy their grilled and crumbed version more than battered. Chips was average and you need to have patience as it is made to order. I still prefer The Atlantic's fish and chips... My favourite still.
Wow! Have never had such amazing Fish & chips. I had the burger with a side of rice. Friend had grilled fish with salad & chips. All was amazing. Will definitely be back.
Got the one in the set. Not too bad, decent fish and chips that you'll get in the CBD area I would say. Probably need to up their game a little more?
Items ordered: grilled fish of the day + 2 sides: chips; walnut and rocket salad with rosted sweet potatoes
A generous serve of a Blue Grenadier fillet grilled to perfection. Fresh and crispy potato chips with a touch of vinegar and salt. The rocket salad was delicious but there was no trace of any walnut that I saw when placing the order over the display counter. I would give them 5 stars if they served the walnuts in the salad (perfect companion with rocket leaves). Also the tartar sauce had a thin layer of curd on top, it gives the impression that it was not too fresh, however it was tasty so I was okay with it.
17/Mar/2015 – Back again as one of my favourite go-to spots for a quick meal that I know will be good. I’m slowly working my way through the menu and today I settled for the calamari & chips cone. It literally comes in paper cone stuffed with chips and calamari. It’s a good portion size and very well seasoned and not greasy at all. It’s a great meal for just over $10 – you can’t go wrong! Back again, this time with a couple others that were impressed my first visit. This time I opted for the Atlantic Salmon Fillet with rocket and spinach salad. Again the meal looked as if it came from a restaurant, very well portioned, well presented, it really looked terrific. The salad was great and the Salmon was cooked perfectly – no complaints. Keep up the great work guys, see you again soon!
September/2015 - I liked it! Surprisingly good food for a food court even if it's at the Emporium. I had the Calamari and Salad meal for $15 – it contained more Calamari than salad (first good surprise) and the calamari was well seasoned and was very tender to eat. There's a choice of salads, I chose the mix of sweet potato and baby spinach that was light and refreshing and went well with the calamari. Another surprise was the presentation on the plate, it wasn’t simply dumped on the plate, they put some effort into the plating it looked great and others in our group were surprised at how good the meal looked. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and added a bit of banter to the ordering process with me for a bit of fun. I will definitely be back as it's good value and there’s a lot more to choose from ranging from fresh fish to burgers and everything in between.
If you like Fish and Chips you'll love this plaice!!!! Sorry for the pun!!! Best fish and chips ever the portions aren't huge but the quality is ten out of ten!!! Service is highly professional and friendly - a real gem of a place and I've eaten here about four times in the last four months!
We really loved our grilled fish and the chips are really good. Definitely better than your usual food court fish and chips!
The service is quick and really friendly too.
I would visit again if I have a fish and chip craving!
Great meal tasty fresh blue granadier, brown rice with crumbed scallops and calamari, delicious healthy and always fresh, if your at emporium ita great food and nice clean food court
By far the best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. Juicy grilled flake and my potato cake wasn't oily and it was very crunchy. The chips flavouring on top was addictive and the king prawn I ordered was succulent and tasty. So impressed with this hidden gem! :) great service as well!
