Lovely Chinese food!
Fish soup were amazing!
Lack of communication, staff speak usually Chinese... little bit English, but friendly.
My favourite Chinese restaurant.

- Seafood salad
- Pork ribs

Authentic northeastern Chinese restaurant. Refreshingly clean taste without too much oil, and no MSG in the dishes we tried either. Some reviewers complained about the service in other reviews, but it was fine when we were there. I just wish it was a little spicier as the chili lacked punch.

As a Chinese, I had a really bad experience just half an hour ago. First, after we walk in with our bubble tea, they said it's not allowed to bring in drinks. Like what? Should we throw it away before we enter the restaurant? Second, we ordered this Guo Bao Rou aka crispy and sour pork. It literally come within 2 minutes after we just ordered. Completely not crispy and tasteless. Taste like they make this longtime ago and just heat in the pan for a few seconds only after we ordered! Do not go to this restaurant!

Authentic taste. All signature dishes from north-east China are perfectly done. Price is decent. Will definitely return.

Food is great, the prices are a little high per dish but the portion sizes are big to compensate. A good style if you plan on sharing with a group

Located on level 1 is this chinese restaurant that serves up big flavours.

We would usually order a few dishes to share and my favourite has got to be the stir fried beans with mince meat and the spicy pork pancakes.

The pancakes are quite unique and different and we dont usually see them on the menu. They do have quite a few dishes that see different from the other chinese restaurants

Really enjoyed the food here and the dishes are good for sharing

Nice little place in Chinatown. Really nice atmosphere and a good selection of food. I had the fried seafood noodles for a quick lunch and it was great. You get heaps for your money too.

The manager should receive trainings on how to handle customer complaints properly. SERIOUSlY.

One of the old waitress has really bad attitude. My friend has like a drink with him and she just told him to “PUT IT AWAY” without saying please.

Food 3/5
Service 3/5
Environment 3/5

It seems worse than years before and only the price has raised. The big bone still good (need reservation day before) and the pork with lotus leaf cake is good as well. But the other dishes are under average level. Especially the duck and fish. Do not order it.

I’ve been here many times, tried many dishes and it never went wrong. Fish in hot chilli oil was a bit different from other Sichuan restaurants and it was so good. One of my favourites. Very authentic northeastern Chinese cuisine.

We came here 2 times so far and it is a good place for big group as you can order many dishes to try out.. the dishes served is “dong bei cai” meaning north eastern Chinese cuisine.. overall not as spicy as sichuan.. all the food that we ordered were delicious, especially the pork intestine, salted egg yolk pumpkin.. a bit let down by the prawn with garlic as it was over cooked.. we also noticed that many people ordered the huge golden bun & we decided to order one too to share.. there is no fillings inside the bun and it was sweet on top.. later on I found out from my colleague that most of the people from northern China would eat this bun (man tou) instead of having rice.. definitely will come back..

We order 3 dishes and take away 1 after finished. It is satisfied for me, a northern people from China, to eat my hometown food here. Very good.

Came here on a regular friday night but service was horrible. It says closing time is 10.30 and the lady was literally asking us to eat quicker at 9.30 - just shocked on how she communicated that to us. Food wise it was tasty and better than most chinese restaurants in chinatown

This is one of my favorite Chinese restautant. I always enjoyed pork bones, pork strips w/ pancakes and eggplant dish.
But I have to say I was soooooo disappointed tonight. A waiter highly recommended me a dish called “stewed pork with long beans”, it was basically beans with only 3 slices of pork belly which cost me $30. And those beans were tasteless. This dish is definitely not recommended.

When they give cups and bowls, there are lipstick on one cup. So disgusting! Never come back! If my order wasn’t processed, I would leave here without any hesitation! This would be my last time coming here!

Food was delicious and flavoursome. But we all know Chinese food can be oily. Despite the oily ness it was a enjoyable meal. Just the down side was some of the dishes were too spicy for me.

Favourite: Braised pork intestine

Food: 3.5/5
Service: 3/5
Ambiance: 2/5

I don't normally dine in the city but my colleagues from China highly recommend this restaurant. I must say that the food is very delicious although some of the items in the menu I probably won't dare to eat such as pig's ears and duck heads. One of the highly recommended dish is the braised pork marrow which needs to be pre-ordered.

For the dishes that we tried, my favourites are the sweet and sour egg plant, braised chicken with tea mushrooms and the braised pork belly with toufu.

The portion size is and price is very reasonable. The restaurant is spacious and can cater for big groups of 10-12 per table as well.

As my office is located nearby, my colleagues and I come here for lunch quite often.

One of my fave Northern China cuisine in cbd. They prepares their foods really fast but the flavour remaining consistent. Many choices and all tasty. Been to this resto many times and came back again last evening to take friends from interstate. We ordered the sizzling prawns with vermicelli and garlic, pork intestines stir fry, pork strips pancakes and potato capsicum eggplants stirfry. All very tasty and we leave feel satisfied with one happy belly 😁😁😁

You can tell it's good when the place is filled with locals. The food is hearty and well-flavoured. Only annoyance is the place takes only cash.

They served meat to vegetarians and then argued when we asked to take the price off the bill.

I went here with a group of 6 people. Two of the people on the table were vegetarian, and we ordered vegetarian fried rice. After the rice had been half eaten, we noticed very small bits of chicken in it. After insisting to the waitress that it had meat, she took it back to the chef to check. She said that the chef had forgotten it was meant to be vegetarian. We asked for it to be taken off the bill, and the waitress kept arguing- saying that some non-vegetarians had eaten it as well. We had to request 3 times for it to be taken off the bill.

They're listed as "vegetarian friendly" on Zomato - not sure how they got that tick of approval!!

The food in Golden Delicious is yummy and great. It tastes like in the hometown's restaurant. The proportion of food is big, suitable for sharing. All the dishes I have tried are delicious. Will be back again.

The food was so yummy, very true Chinese taste, and food comes sooooo quick, maybe within 10 min only, very very happy for the food, we tried few recommended dishes, all satisfied. The service was ok too. Very happy to eat here
FOOD TRIP
Golden Delicious is a spacious eatery specializing in homey style Chinese dishes. Food is affordable and generous in quantity. Great flavor and perfect for sharing with big groups. Would recommend!. Golden Pork Bone $26. One of their signature dishes here. Super braised pork that falls straight off the bone. Great for munching on. They even provide gloves! Not my style of dish, but for those who like it, I would recommend. 8/10

One of the chinatown gem. All the dishes taste good and serve in big portion, suitable for sharing. We tried the pork, sweet sour eggplant, vegetables for the main dishes which are great. Substitute the rice with the bread and spring onion pancake, the bread was so big. The service was fast and friendly. Will try the other food next time.

Anytime if ou don't know what you want to have for dinner, just go there and pick anything from menu and you will enjoy it. Never disappointed.

Had lunch here with my friends and we all think the place was quite nice. It's huge, spacious, service was so so, and food came really quick. Food was delicious and we would like to go again.

You can get quite delicious and traditional Northern cuisine here. The speed of serving is very fast. The price is reasonable. I will be here another time~

This place is bloody awful. They charged me the broken tea pot lid for $15 which I accidentally broke, WITHOUT informing me and I only noticed after I paid and asked for the receipt. It's an illegal practice.

I argued with them with this, then the owners and staffs surrounded us and shouted at us with DEATH threats. Plus trying to start off a fight.

A staff even HIT my wife! My wife was horrified and asked me to leave.

Imagine what garbage they will put in your meal with staff and chefs like this!

I would really like someone from the Consumer Affair to help me with this because this is a serious issue to our hospitality scene in Melbourne. I have worked and lived in Melbourne for 2 years and this never happened to me before.

Was highly recommended by a friend, so I had lots of perspectives on it. After finally tried it, it let me down. The dishes are quite salty, even I am the person who normally prefer food with heavy taste. And the bones are very disappointed, this dish is one of my favourite dishes for Northeastern Chinese cuisines, but this just taste the flavour of soy sauce. Won't go there anymore.

My dining companion told me Northern Chinese cuisine is very meat-heavy due to the harsh cold climate that doesn't allow a lot of plant based food to grow. I was instantly sold. Their specially is the golden pork bones, which they serve with a plastic glove to protect your manicure and a straw so you can access the delicious marrow while still looking like a lady. We also had the "Bafu duck" and "pork and tofu cooked in presser (pressure?) cooker". Much tasty. Many yums. Very recommend. Wow.
The service is unexpectedly fast and attentive. I say unexpectedly because I have a negative perception of the quality of services in Asian restaurants, unfortunately.
They don't serve tea here, only refreshing sweet plum juice, which happens to go well with the pork bones.
Do not believe the waitress when she says the small sized layered pancake is not enough for 4 people. The large size is big enough to feed 8.

A friend who came from North East China brought us here last week. Is in a hidden corner on china town but inside are packed!!
I have to say this is the best North East i ever had. we used to go another place in Flemington but now this place will be our new regular for sure.
Me and my partner are both vegetarian, the floor staff and kitchen are very helpful, they allow us to change the fish dish into tofu dish. we had tofu cooked in chili oil, bean sprout and black fungus. really really good! love the spicyness!
Their SHIJIN salad so yum too. TeaTree mushroom dry hotpot.
All food are impressive and yum!
My friend had their pork strips with pancake, look impressive, should be taste really good as i can see so many of other tables having the same.
have to mention their floor staff are amazing and super friendly.

Serving traditional Dong Bei (North East China) cuisine, here you can find very authentic dishes from the region. A strong emphasis on hearty meat dishes, particularly pork and poultry, commonly flavoured with dried chilli and sichuan pepper, pickled vegetables, or cumin, served either dry or in soups. Portions are plentiful and designed for sharing, and staff are from china so they will ask if you want a vegetable and a bread/noodle/rice dish. Staff are quick and quiet, speak multiple languages, and have a traditional attitude to restaurant service - they may come across a little cold to a westerner, but the intention is to provide a good meal with minimal intrusion so you can reunite with friends and family - in china, politeness is shown through behaviour, not language. Expect an authentic chinese experience at this cheery restaurant and enjoy time with friends and family over a delicious, traditional meal very far from North east china.

Best North East Chinese Food in Melbourne! I originally came from this part of China, so I am very attached to this place. They serve good quality food, the amount of food they put on each plates is enormous. They serve food in a fast pace, incredible considering how busy it can be during dinner hours. A great place to go with family and friends, if you love to eat good Chinese food.

Great food, not so friendly service.
Menu is authentic chinese and many interesting dishes that you cannot find in every corner of Chinatown. Compare to standard Chinese food they use really less MSG. Massive portion, beware when they suggest you to order more. Their Sweet sour pork and fish soup with pickles are delicious.

during exploring the city with our school we were in teams of 8 ish and we got to choose where we wanted to have lunch so we chose Golden Delicious because it was in the perfect location.
The lunch servings are huge (which is good because you can take them home and have it for dinner that night)
service was perfect. BUT we count split the bill and we had to work out the money ourselves.
I would deferentially go there for dinner or Lunch and you can have your dinner then go ans see a show at Her Majesties theatre or Princess Theatre

This place is sooooo good! Cheap and amazing food. Best Chinese outside of China. Don't listen to any of the negative reviews, they obviously have no idea what they are talking about.

This restaurant is very popular among Chinese people. So before you go, you better make a reservation. The food is quite good, especially the traditional duck! I like the design of the restaurant as they put a mirror which makes you think the it is double-sized.

All my colleague, loved this place after I brought in a new dish introduced by the restaurant to the office. The place is usually busy on the weekend and night time. So best time to taste the great food is at lunch time :), if you want to skip the waiting time

Located at corner of little Bourke and exhibition street , this Chinese restaurant is my all time favoriate for Chinese food. At this place, it's not which dish is good , it's all the dishes are great ! You can't order anything wrong in this place . And the price are very affordable (cash only ) !

Have been here a dozen times , never disappointed . Look at those pictures , dare you tell me you don't think they truly look fantastic! ;)

Rip off- bad service & Definitely won't be back. Asked for a pot of tea and the waitress rudely pointed to the drinks menu and said 'how many cups' we charge per cup. It was $4 per cup.. Ridiculous. The first trolley that came out contained soggy and heavily salted edame, some gross looking meat dishes and spring rolls and other fried things that looked like they had been sitting in a beau Marie for hours. There are hardly any vegetarian options, the wait was extremely long between trolleys. Left after one trolley. It was $25 for one put of tea, edame and 3 pork dumplings. WOULD NOT EVER RETURN. I recommend this place to NO ONE.

Awful experience. We got a little kid with only a drop of coke in her hand, and we are not allowed to get in before she finishes the coke. During the meal, when we request another disposable gloves for the braised pork bone, we were told no extra gloves were provided! It is not even worth 5 cents! Food is average, poor service, stingy boss.
Livetoeat
Disappointing. Had heard good reviews about this place but after dining there still can't really find a good thing about the restaurant. Service was sloppy and pretty much non-existent. One wine glass had a crack in it and when touched to tell the waitress, it snapped off. Worst thing was that for that dirty cracked glass - we had to pay for it. Chinese vegetables with oyster sauce - when we asked the waitress what vegetables, we were told a mix of green vegetables. So we were very surprised when only lettuce came out. When we asked our waitress she ignored us. From the start to the end it was really quite average. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone, which is such a shame when I'm sure it used to be good.

Love it every time. We were introduced to this restaurant by a friend from Hong Kong who says the food is "just like home". It is not targetted at tourists, it is upstairs, and you have to know it is there to find it. Hubby has had the duck and loves it, I can take it or leave it. But the sizzling beef is yum, and recently a family member wanted to try the sweet and sour pork. Now I am not usually a fan of sweet and sour pork, but this was amazing. The batter and pork were well cooked, but the stand out component was the sauce. It was light and delicately flavoured, and I could have had a big bowl of it as a soup! The staff are always friendly, and it is quite well priced, although be warned, you have to pay in cash. My daughter had lunch today with a travel blogger from europe who was visiting Melbourne, and they were both happy with their meal and the prices. Lovely place, I am looking forward to my next visit!
Detty
Little bit pricey. But large meals. Easily could share between two. Full bodied and exciting flavours. Not very good English. Unsure if this is due to there Chinese heritage or that the restaurant was quite noisy. All in all 6.5/10 :)

Food was excellent. rather pricey and pathetic there were no eftpos facilities whatsoever. had to pay completely in cash. disappointed.

Lovely and interesting Sichuan food. Many choices on the menu, but don't be afraid to try something new as it will most likely be amazing. The dumplings are flavor some and in general the food is spicy but never extreme like many less skilled Sichuan restaurants.
The service is not brilliant, but it is what you expect from this kind of restaurant which is made for the Chinese more than the Caucasian Melbournians.
The dishes are large so take some friends, order as many dishes as you can fit on the table and some large bottles of Harbin to share and enjoy Sichuan food as it was meant to be.

Yum Cha on a late Sunday afternoon. Quick friendly service. Lots of variety. Steamed buns were delicious. Will dine again.

Oily and salty dishes. They said it better than no 1 delicious. But i dont think so. The fish is overcooked. And eggplant is not fried perfectly.

Flavours are amazing! Loved the beef pancakes!! I will be visiting this place each time I'm in melbourne!

Impressed. Having dined at many Chinese restaurants In the past with varying levels of satisfaction as to the quality of food I was impressed with the dinner service I received at Golden delicious. Easily the best duck dish I have ever encountered in a restaurant..cooked to perfection. All other dishes were excellent quality and great value. I am a visitor to Melbourne and will be sure to revisit Golden Delicious during future visits.
