Review Madame's Kitchen - Melbourne

Great food and atmosphere. Super friendly staff and excellent service! The Grilled Chili Lime Chicken salad was amazing. Great fusion of flavours!

Great place, super friendly staff. Amazing coffee and the food was great. Brekkie burger was super good, but super greasy and oily ( good hangover cure!)

First time dine-out since we are free on the street, so glad that Mellow Beans is still around; Great coffee as always; We tried two dishes from the new menu, they were amazing!! Friendly staff and comfy vibes definitely made my day for the first weekend post-lockdown.

Awesome coffee. The food was extremely good and huge portions. Super friendly staff. This will be my go to break spot when I come back to Melbourne.

I had potato and leek soup for lunch here on Tuesday. It was soooo bland. Tasted like water with a very small amount of potato and leek blended in. I could barely taste either and there was no other flavour. No stock, butter, cream, salt or pepper. Plus the bread was still partially frozen!

Food is fresh and they have Good breakfast deals ie. $6 - bacon and egg sandwich plus coffee. Both were decent. Okay for a quick bite (lunch or breakfast). Plenty of dining space inside and out.

Extremely friendly staff with a welcoming atmosphere. Fast service. Coffee is very bitter.

I had a lovely experience here at Mellow Beans during the week for lunch. The staff are so welcoming and seems like they know their regulars personally, loving the friendly atmosphere. In terms of the food, it's not extremely fancy but everything I tried is just so flavourful! The baos were so tasty and fresh, and the buns were nice and soft. The chilli scramble was light and fluffy. The chilli jam they served with it was absolutely delicious. They also have a range of sweet treats in the counters, I really enjoyed the danishes as they were so nice and fresh. Highly recommend the Passion Punch Smoothie too, it's just so fruity and refreshing. For more Melbourne food reviews, follow @diningwithash on Instagram :)

3.5. got the ricotta pancakes but it didn't really taste like it had ricotta, but more like blueberries as there were blue dots inside the pancake itself. It was matched with blueberries and strawberries and drizzled in Maple syrup. It was still tasty so it was a good breakfast.

Great salads. Great variety. Try the Teriyaki chicken salad or the Super quinoa. Service is fast and friendly and the salads change regularly.

This place looks healthy because its see greens everywhere in the restraunt. You get a very good range of fresh salads, Rolls, Paninis, Yummy Sandwiches, and a range of proper English lunch is served here...I have tried the coleslaw chicken schnitzel roll here and was fresh and very good!

An overall pretty standard venue to grab the office lunch. There is a solid range of hot food and sandwiches available.

Price: Moderate to Moderately expensive. Typically $10-$15 per meal without a drink

Food: Is hit or miss. The pasta dishes and roast are pretty good; anything fried should be avoided.

Overpriced regular ingredients..

14 dollar wasted salad for a small frozen soup bowl.

Salads nothing special. Cooked meal is more junky carbs and reheated meal

Highly not recommended

It’s a 3.4 in my humble view. This review is for my quick coffee visit this morning. You can only go on what you experience. I enjoyed my long black. It’s in the mid range of Melbourne coffees but that’s ok by me for a quick coffee on the run. I was served very quickly and the staff including the person who seemed to be the owner and/or manager was bright, animated and very polite. The fit out doesn’t inspire but neither does it appall. I quite liked its gentle ordinary ness. I liked it here and I would return to try food.

Fair Price Value equation considering its city location. Visited at 8.30 am last Thursday and the place was about 25% full based on seats at tables exc. their stand up take away business. Three of us ordered eggs for breakfast in various forms. Service was really slow and it took about 30-40 mins for our eggs to come out. Flavour and quality was good. I spent about $17 and had eggs with a large mug flat white with an extra shot.

I did enjoy the spinach ravioli with creamy pumpkin and walnut. It was very filling and price was reasonable though a little bit pricey. It was very busy but it was a good environment and good location.

I really like it here, the coffee is yum yum yummy in my tummy - although the barista said he wouldn't go on a date with me because he has a Bae , sad face

My review here is only for my quick coffee visit. Early morning got.myself a green tea latte which I managed to catch from their busy looking display board... The cafe itself had alot going on from tables and chairs everywhere to mixed of baguette and sandwiches on display. I saw a ham cheese tomato toastie for $7?? Whatt!! I thought working on st kilda rd was expensive but you could get a toastie there for max $5.50! My latte was $4 for a medium. Was very excited but was let down. Felt like i waa drinking green milk. No flavour of the green tea and no sweetner. Might try again and give them a second chance but for now.. meh..

Went for breakfast this morning. Ordered the Mashed Avocado and added tomato and feta cheese ($14.50). Meal was nice but nothing spectacular. Other menu items seemed reasonably priced too with some healthy options that sounded lovely.

Service was adequate but my plate was left sitting next to me for over an hour while I typed away on my laptop. I also would have loved another coffee but didn't want to leave my laptop while I got up to order and pay for another one.

Nice place to come and grab a quick lunch during office hours. Variety of hot foods and they also have a choice of pre made or fresh sandwiches.
I usually get my chicken schnitzel and salad wrap for $9. Pretty reasonable for the city and the service is very fast.

There is heaps of seating in doors and outdoors if you choose to dine in also.

Been here a couple of times for lunch. There is a huge variety which is great for people who don't know what to get for lunch. They offer both hot and cold food. Whenever I've gone there, the roast is what I usually go for. Now, overall the food is ok. However, the price is too steep for the amount of food you get. I think it should be $10 for its serving size. I probably wouldn't go back there unless I was really desperate for a roast meal for lunch.

Bad customer service if you want something other than a regular coffee. Came to order a large chai latte, waited a good 15 minutes, but wasn't because they were flat out. In fact people that came after me all got their coffe and left. It is because they had to make all of the coffees, before they make my chai latte. Normally I don't mind waiting but it was their attitude about it: 3 sulky faces and no explanation, no apologies when I enquires about my order.

Excellent food and drinks. Ordered the ricotta hot cakes and veggie brekky. Both were well presented, fresh and delicious. Ice chocolate and coffee both excellent. Great service (prompt and attentive with a smile). Will return again when visiting Melbourne!

Worst Muffins ever!!!. I bought a coffee (Strong skinny flat white) and a muffin (raspberry white choc). The muffin was horrible; I would rather buy one from a super market. Never tasted anything so bad before. Coffee was good though. Never going back there for a muffin.

I feel like crap for eating that muffin where I could have gotten all those calories from a better tasting muffin. What's worse- I still got muffin craving after downing all those calories.

-----18 Feb, 2015-----

Worst Muffins ever!!!. Gluten Free/Ceoliac. MK provides excellent gluten free options especially if you are coeliac, they cook toast separately, and use separate breadboards etc. This is excellent! Only issue is that their gluten free bread is being cut thinner and thinner to the point that the bread is only a few millimeters thick. Staff also don’t fill the sandwiches like with their non-coeliac customers however still charge you a fortune when the sandwiches are considerably much much smaller, which is disappointing.

Reasonable Food, service could be better. I occasionally get breakfast here, generally it's ok, but occasionally you get served by a lady who is way too aggressive in taking orders and subsequently gets them wrong. If she took the time to listen to people she might get the orders right!

Don't try the hot food of Madame's Kitchen. it is awful. They do not have a "chef". If we can call it chef. The soups are pure water, no flavour... do you know that there is something called tomato paste? ... Terrible soups. The fried rice is is served completely black and burned. the vegetables are raw and not even fried.
Very expensive and second quality.
The staff is rude and stupid. They smile when they are serving all this bad food in your face. The clients are no stupid .. the food is awful!. They should be embarrased! Not sure why they smile?.

First and Last Time At MadM Kitchen. After dining in your Cafe today , I was disgusted by the bad service from your coffee maker , he obviously needs some lessons in customers service .
I asked for a knife and was told to get it myself.
Tea spilt onto table by waiter, not cleaned up and no apology.
Food - tasteless but could have been overlooked if he wasn't so rude.
I definitely won't be visiting your cafe again .

Incredibly overpriced, tasteless salads. It's basically stupidly priced shopping mall food-court food :-/

Good coffee but poor attitude of morning staff - not young guy but lady with dark hair can barely grunt a hello and if she makes your coffee is prone to an occasional stuff up. Need a ticket system to ensure coffee is given out in order in which its ordered - favourites played. After giving this place enough chances, I've had enough.

I am been coming twice a month from Sydney for my office meetings. Nice superfood salad. Great food definately coming back for Veg chickpea Tajine and Lamb Casserole.

Coffee Dilemma. My office is in one of the buildings to the side of the Madame Brussels laneway, so it is natural that I venture in to the laneway for a coffee every morning. Babbo was my favourite for coffee but it just became too busy and the wait to get coffee too long. We then sampled Mummums, and while the coffee here was the cheapest in the area, my coffee was pretty terrible when I switched to soy so I decided to try somewhere else which lead me to try Urban Deli. While the staff are not the most jolly, the coffee is usually consistently good. It does surprise me that the guy that serves most days seems to have zero recollection of your coffee order and asks me every single day whether I want sugar and my answer is always 'no'.

Not that that is a big deal, what irritated me tody is that after having 30 coffees stamped off my loyalty card I went in for my 'complimentary breakfast' when I asked about it I was told that actually its a complimentary muffin NOT a breakfast. A muffin is definately not breakfast!

With soy at $4 for a small coffee and the service being so-so I'm planning on going somewhere else for my regular coffee, Trunk and League of Coffee seem like good options.

Most of the staff who've served me and my colleagues here have been extremely rude. If you want a sandwich with a side of attitude and impatience then this is definitely the place to go. Rudeness of their staff is becoming a theme in our office!

Not Happy Jan.... I'm a regular lunch time customer here, and usually its great. Sandwiches may seem pricey but when you see what is packed on to them it is great value. However, of late I have noticed major inconsistencies in my sandwiches. I regularly purchase a roast chicken sandwich with salad. I used to get a mound of chicken and salad. In the last 2-3 weeks (and with noticebly newer staff) the amount of chicken has shrunk down to barely there. Today was especially bad. Not only did the girl not smile, greet me properly, give me correct change and was generally rude through the whole transaction, she squashed the slivers of chicken onto the bread and upon asking for a small amount of salt and pepper proceed to virtually pour it on.

Unfortunately, it is virtually the only place to purchase a healthy sandwich from without having to walk a number of blocks, otherwise I would have taken my custom elsewhere. But it would simply be great to have consistency and a smile.

Hi Emmeline What a nasty li.... Hi Emmeline
What a nasty little thing you are. If you had any idea the effort these people put in everyday to get your coffee and nourishing food you would be disgusted with yourself. Get a life!

-----27 Feb, 2013-----

Thank you for your feed back Jan.
Urban Deli has a money back guarantee. If anyone is unhappy with their experience please ask for the manager/owner. We apologies for the inconsistency - we are working, always, to improve.

-----19 Nov, 2012-----

Owners Response. Made up my mind never again. I work close by and I only go here when I have to be honest. Why do I keep going back? One because I think I might be swayed away the growing negative perception as the experience is so inconsistant tilting more toward disapointment, the majority of the time. Too may time I wait way to long for food in the morning . I’m not a coffee drinker however have to line up in the same long line as I’m pretty much ignored unless I successfully happen to catch the unwilling eye of someone who’s working the food bar ...Once I got told they were too busy......many times my food has been cold after the wait....Lunch seemed ok for while, dependant on who actually serves, you can get a reasonable portion fit for price at $13 for a takeaway hot meal....Although today of all days I have decided I won’t ever be going back. Not only did the insincere young fellow who served me, give me a VERY small portion of roast lamb, when I got back to my desk it was 80% fat..... seriously it just gets me. I work hard enough and went out (in the rain) to get a good meal only to be extremely disappointed. We go out for group \team coffees...There’s 8 of us and sometime we have breakfast....I once recommended this place and was given a downright No....now I have to agree 100% Never again.

Skinny latte, never consistant.

Awesome coffee, focaccias, and suprisingly dumplings!. Work nearby and come across here for coffee and some lunch every few days. Exceptional quality for the price you pay. Interior decor is nice and quite a good selection of beers and house wines.

On a Friday there's live music which creates a great atmosphere after work. Also they serve some dumplings which are suprisingly good, awesome with the beers, so easy to smash a full plate.

Good coffee & food. I work nearby and this is a great cafe with lots of variety, good coffee, ample seating and quick service. The foccacia's are very nice and reasonably priced for the CBD including a decent salad (garnish).

Lovely friendly staff, good food at good prices. Highly recommend the "performer" juice- pear, apple, pineapple and ginger. Best cure for a sore throat! My new lunch spot.

I like the vibe. Bustling cafe with standard cafe food offerings. Long blacks are strong and not bitter at all.
This cafe doesn't really have a point of difference in terms of its food and drink offerings, but the space is nice and easily the type of place you can waste an hour reading the paper and enjoying a couple of coffees.
