Review Roll'd - Melbourne

I used to go to this outlet a lot. But on today's visit I think it will be the last one. I had ordered the roast pork with crackling noodle salad as it's my favourite especially the crackling. But today it came without the crackling. When I asked about it the girl on the counter went to confirm with the chef and said that they had ran out of crackling. They just apologised and did not even look like they cared. If they didn't have the crackling they could have let me know and I would have changed my dish. Why would I pay a lot for a dish which has a key ingredient missing?

The worst experience ever. Cloakes of noodles stuck together in a bowl of pho with blooding raw meat.. Noodles seem like been made yesterday and the liquid was lukewarm when poured into the soup... After a couple of years always looking forward to a lunch from Roll'd that is quite a repelling experience!

Terrible experience ordering through Ubereats, had ordered for a location just a few minutes walk away, food for a group of people, quoted delivery time 50min later, all fine, I could wait. Order was listed in the app as confirming with restaurant all the way until the quoted delivery time. I got concerned and called the restaurant directly half an hour before, the staff told me that not only had they got the order, they had already made the food and it had been picked up. After more waiting, I called Ubereats 10min before to see what they could say, turns out the restaurant had canclled the order, seemingly without updating Ubereats, or telling me, leaving a group of people waiting for an order that was never going to come. Poor form.

Unfortunately, I think that Roll'd has gone downhill... They used to provide delicious food now, hard rice paper rolls constructed of noodles with the SLIGHTEST amount of flavours. There was minimal coriander, carrot and cucumber and a maximum of two inches worth of my chosen filling (barramundi, softshell crab and tofu). Really really disappointed.

Great food, good meal deal. Love the fact that they have cup size pho. Little seating available. Ideal for take away.

Excellent Pho noodle soup. Nice small container. Well priced. Tried both Chicken and SeaFood. Both are nice.

Efficient payment. Good marketing but a roll that is mostly bread and potent amounts of chilli. Very bland fillings at a 20% premium to unbranded alternatives. Felt rolled :-(
Jade Mills
Very tasty fresh good. Good price. Well worth the stop.

This place is a blatant rip off, and there's plenty of better Vietnamese joints within walking distance.
Avoid.

Quick, easy, reliable food. I like to get the bbq chicken rice paper rolls, they’re tasty and quite filling. I usually get three if I’m really hungry, otherwise two is enough for me. Sauce-wise I go with the chilli mayo. Although it is a little more expensive than other rice paper roll places, it’s not unreasonable and it’s in good proximity from my work, and the staff are really friendly.

Felt like rolls again for a quick lunch and got two of them. Got the barramundi and avocado, and prawn and pork roll. Had the chilli mayo and spicy hoisin, which wasn't strong enough so hot the Sriracha chilli sauce on top.

Yummy yummy! Pork was marinated well and went well with the prawn. The barramundi and the avocado was a great combo too, both soft and delicious.

Good lunch option but pricey, plenty of cheaper options close by. Food came out fairly quickly. The food could use more flavour and is quite pricey for what it is.

Super fresh and tasty. This is a regular lunch spot for me. Staff are also always very friendly. If you love Vietnamese food, give this place a go. Love Roll’d Collins.

At $4+ I do find these rice paper rolls overpriced because who could possibly be full unless you eat a minimum three and you are realistically shelling out for minimal fillings but today’s discovery was their salads which provide a much better bang for your buck and are actually quite flavoursome (lemongrass beef). Will keep this in mind as a healthy option going forward

Wasn't too impressed with the rice paper rolls. I and my colleagues tried quite a few and the general consensus is that they were quite bland even with the various sauces we had.

terrible pho, look what i got for mix beef and chicken pho
whole bunch of undercooked pho!
totally not recommend!
Used to love its rice paper roll but I will never visit this store again

Friendly, fast service and fresh Vietnamese to go! I have ordered everything on the menu - from the pho to the baos! There isn't much comfortable seating so I recommend you order take away.

I must admit I'm a bit of a wrap for Roll'd as a popular lunch venue (very close to work!), I usually opt for either the Lemongrass beef or BBQ chicken banh mi meal or Beef Pho, sprinkled with fresh chilli.

It's a high turnover take away place that is reasonably priced (you can get a side of two pork spring rolls and a peach iced tea for around $12-$13).

A workmate did order the Pho though recently, and the beef was literally raw. We went back and the manager was genuinely surprised and apologetic. These things happen, but probably cost it a .5 or so here!

Negatives: Over priced, always stuff up orders and a very rude manager.

Positives: Quick serving, rice paper rolls, amazing range of sauces.

Gone very down hill. Rice paper rolls always dry, roast pork very dry and pho is very bland and tastes horrible. Won't eat here again

Worst dried out rice-paper rolls. I went to this roll'd store for lunch and ordered 2 BBQ chicken soldiers and 1 Barramundi soldier. They were hands down the worst rice paper rolls I have eaten. The outside casing was dried out, hard and chewy and the inside had barely any meat and no greens.
I threw the third roll in the bin!
Do not go here - worst lunch ever.

The Worst Pho Around. $10.90 for tiny bowl of bland pho with undercooked noodles and no chilli (despite it being on my order). I could go anywhere else, have a filling bowl of pho for less and not end up with a mouth that's scratchy and dry from crunching through some noodles and a that has a dishwater after-taste.

Always haphazard service in Collins Place. Second time in a row in busy weekday lunch hour the Indian lass making the Banh Mis forgot to put chilli in the order - or front reception cashier staff (who asked if I wanted chilli specifically as I always do with pork roll), made the error.
Pretty poor form for a simple add-on, no?

Mixed. I was bitterly disappointed to be told that the 'Sloppy Roll' - meatballs in a tomato-based sauce (it sounds rather Italian-ish, but it's not) - has been discontinued. If that's the case, then I suggest you take it off your menu!

Anyway, the bbq chicken roll I had instead was pretty good - the sauce was like a blend of bbq and gravy.

A lot of people seem to be complaining that it's inauthentic and lacks freshness. What do you expect folks, it's a chain? If you want pate on your roll, I suggest you go to N Lee Bakery or Victoria St.

Bad Pho. Ordered the meal menu with small pho, 2 rolls and a drink.

everytime i went there, the beef was still raw (not even cooked!!) and the soup was warm not as hot as the one that you will find from other pho restaurant.

went back to the counter and the lady was nice to offer me a replacement. again, the beef slices were still raw, the kind of raw meat that will make you sick and i ended up throwing it to the bin.

on the upside, the prawn + pork and soft shell crab rollls were delicious.

Staff ill prepared for lunchtime rush- told me that they didn't have the soldiers I wanted, so I ordered others, bring it back to the office and they've chucked the wrong order in :-/ get it sorted- on a Friday you're going to have lots of customers. I used to love going to roll'd- now it's like another fast food chain, with mistakes and poor service. Disappointing.

Soft Shell Crab Rolls. Love the rice paper rolls or roll'd soldiers. Try the soft shell crab. The food was a lot better when they first opened, but love the sloppy roll banh mi as well.

Total let down!. I was very excited for the arrival of Roll'd Collins Place. I hadn't tried it before but from all the hype online, it sounded like an absolute winner. Oh what a complete an utter let down! Really dry rolls, filling was sparse and really lacked in any flavour that one would generally expect from a Banh Mi. I speak with some authority on the matter of Banh Mi as I live off Victoria St in Abbotsford. I sampled the Pork roll(roast pork) and I tried the BBQ chicken. Both we're uninspiring and boring. Most frustratingly of all is the bloody line at this joint, I waited in a line at least 15 deep to place my order, waited at least 20 minutes for something that in the end was completely sub-par for what is it touted as. People of Collins St we can do better than this. And the owners should take note and fix this: flavour first and people making the things! 1 person making Banh Mi whilst at least 20 people wait! Total joke. Forget about it

6.60$ for banh mi that was so dry and unauthentic. Defs will not be coming back. Really disappointed as I've been hanging to try this place...
The World Loves Melbourne
Roll'd is taking all before it in terms of its expansion across Melbourne with some 8 stores. Things have developed so quickly in the last couple of years. Vietnamese convenience food that's full of flavour is a hit, and appeals because of its fresh and healthy features.
