Came here with a group of friends for dinner awhile ago. The food was spicy and tasty and the service was good. We had a great time.
Great hotpot broth to choose from
The sauna beef was one of the best dishes. Great presentation as well as taste. The stone pot frog special is also recommended for anyone who wants a new experience.
They provided professional services, a very comfortable dining, highly recommended that everyone ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent! The food is exquisite!
Very tasty food and good price. The seafood platter is amazing! Loving this place. Def coming back

One of my fav cuisines for when I’m craving spicy food is Sichuan food. China chilli is a very busy place as it serves both hotpot and other dishes as well. Service is quick. We had spicy fish, eggplant, lamb ribs with rice for our mains and pork sliced with garlic sauce for appetiser.
The hotpot broth here is also very delicious. Would recommend this restaurant for authentic Sichuan food.
First time here as we frequently go to House Of Delight but today felt like giving China Chilli a go. It’s a tad bit pricier compared to House of Delight (both all you can eat hotpot), however, given the service & experience at China Chilli I’d say it’s worth it. Lesser cooked food options & desserts but equally good food!
This is one of our favourite place for authentic Sichuan dishes and spicy hotpot. Great private dining rooms for business dining or friends gathering. Live seafood cooked in Sichuan style worth a try.
I came there twice. The price is okay for buffet hotpot. Unlimited soft drinks if you pay $4~ which is neccessary when getting spicy flavour soup :) Good portion size of food. I like their fresh meat and seafood. Self- serve for drink and dipping sauce, rice, dessert.
Loves Sichuan food! Been here many years ago for hotpot and dishes. If you love spicy food also looking for a location in inner city, this place you have to try.
Delicious flavour, can’t fault it. Buffet is good value and good price. All the food was fresh. Been twice and both times the food was great.
The hotpot is average to good but the individual dishes you can order are mouthwatering. The spicy hot pot is really traditional and really spicy! If you dig spicy and authentic Chungking hotpot this is the place. It's only for the hardcore spicy lovers also you will find offals such as pigs brains which are not available anywhere else.

We had the A La Carte option today, there are many different Sichuan style dishes to choose from. The food is pretty enjoyable, very spicy but as expected from this type of food. I wish the waiters could communicate a little better in English. Otherwise, it's a really nice Chinese restaurant.
had a hot pot buffet here the other day with my friends. The price is good for hotpot buffet. No extra charges for the sauces, which I encountered now and then elsewhere. The spicy one is really a bit too much if u are not used to Sichuan dishes.
I came here last week on a pretty cold day for hotpot buffet. The soup base and food are really good here and you have a lot of choices on the menu makes everyone is suitable for any dietary requirements. I will bring my friends over here on a cold day for sure.

It’s really authentic Sichuan cuisine - reviewed by three authentic Sichuan ppl!
5/5 service
They are really nice ppl and quite efficient ~~~
5/5 ambience
Like the old chengdu Lane, the decoration reminds my of my second hometown, Chengdu.

Cold dishes: wow, my parents said it’s much better than some local restaurants in Sichuan! The chef must know Sichuan dish so well. The red chilli 🌶 sauce is not so spicy but bears the aroma of the spice.
Kong bao chicken~~~ excellent but too sweet I think ~~
Friend recommended me to try out this place. So i did and it didnt disappoint. Ordered the dan dan noodle and some side dishes. Its very spicy but i loved it.
Came here for hot pot buffet during lunch time 🙂 the service was good and food came out in a jiff! Ordered the mixed soup (more spicy) I definitely preferred the normal bland fish soup though it was delicious 👍 I'd definitely go back for their main meals next time, looking forward to it already 😍
I finally found my favourite Sichuan from Sydney !! I had the hot pot here years back and I was not ready to go back.. until recently my mate was telling me how nice their dishes were.
I thought why not, no harm checking it out . We ordered the right dishes.. the fried chicken with roasted peanuts were numbing hot but was so delicious . The fish was great too, well soaked in the tasty marinade. The vegetables were cooked in a lovely salted egg stock and it was tasty and appetising. We had the delicious fried cauliflower with bacon. No pictures as everything was snapped out fast. Prices seems to be more reasonable than a famed chain here in Melbourne. Portions were sizable too.
Keep up the good work! And I be back soon.
Best Sichuan food in Melbourne CBD.The service is very good and all the waitress are very friendly.Especially Lili one of the waitress ,she is very kind.Portions are very generous. We visit there often. Our favourite dish is "Sichuan style sizzling chicken"
A very classic Chinese hot pot restaurant. The price has gone up to 33.8 per person plus the base soup. So total around 40 dollars per person. And they introduce membership rule. The taste is good. And you can have unlimited sauce and small dishes and fruits (just oranges and bananas at that time though).
All you can eat hotpot. Okay food.
Deductions for price (buffet+soup+drink = $45pp), the buffet did not include the price of the soup base which ranged from $18-25 per table and slow service even though there was a 2hr limit.
We though the Tom Yum soup base would be a good idea between the 4 of us - unless you want your soul to be lit on fire it is not. One soup base is also definitely enough for four.
All you can eat food and one soup base came to $40pp overall but considering you get 3 rounds to order however many and which foods you wanted, it's definitely worth coming hungry.
Notably, you do get penalised for leaving, I think, more than 200/250g so don't go too wild.
In regards to the subpar service that many reviews have mentioned, it's a very typically Asian where you can go to the bar or wherever they are and let them know you need them. They're very efficient in getting what you want to you - whether it be another round or more water.
Decent place for all you can eat hot pot with a large selection of good food with your mates.
My friends and I had an amazing hotpot experience! The cost is at the higher range (around 40$ each), but there's unlimited sauce refills. The quality of food is really good too.
We had the spicy soup and I really loved it!! My mouth was on fire and I had Kylie Jenner lips. hahahaha. I know I'll suffer in the washroom the next day but it's totally worth it!! haha. 😂😂
I don't know why there are so many complaints about bad service etc. The waitresses were so friendly towards us. One of them even asked if we enjoyed our meal and they didn't rush us off.
Also I have no idea why people are complaining about the 2 hours sitting limit. Seriosuly 2 hours more than enough. 😂😂😂

Solid hotpot, it was quite expensive for what it was. The soup base shouldn't cost you extra. Disappointed in the serving size of what you order. Loved the variety of the dipping station as you don't get that option at other hotpot spots. The drinks will cost you extra, however could choose the $3.8 per head for unlimited soft drinks. Also the first hot pot place that actually gave you an option to order a raw egg. Granted that every time a waitress tried to talk to me they thought I was chinese which was kind of awkward. Was very full from what we ordered and were all satisfied. Would definitely come back again.

It is a very nice place but the price was a little too expensive since we told them that we were 12 but they still calculated us as full price. The soup was very nice but it took quite a while to come out but overall it was yummy.
We had competition that who would eat more fried pork with dried chilli, so funny! We drank a lot of water and scare of chilli because this manu haha. Very tasty anyway :))
Best tofu curry in melbourne and a great range of delicious options. Tasty food with great atmosphere and excellent place for hot and spicy food
Absolutely value for money all you can eat spicy hotpot compared with most Chinese restaurants offered in Melbourne. If you need to fill up a stomach with a tasty chilli Sichuan soup base hotpot for a day at around $40, this is definitely the place for you. Hotpot is a regime for me in every region I have lived and this is a must try in Chinatown
。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。
My go to place for hot pot besides Dainty Sichuan. The all-you-can-eat hot pot at China Chilli has an excellent variety of dishes you can choose from. Each dish is generous. There’s a range of sauces and condiments you can have as well near the front of the restaurant. I usually choose to have a spicy and non-spicy soup on the table to cook the food in. You have to use an iPad to order your food and drinks. Service is prompt and wait staff are usually friendly.
Wow! If you want all you can eat, good quality and moderately priced Hotpot than the hunt is over. China Chilli Sichuan Hotpot is definitely my go to for hotpot cravings. We normally like to order the half/half soup getting half chicken & fish and the other half as chilli(extremely chilli). I really like the chicken and fish soup it's kind of simple but delicious, the chilli is nice but a little hot for me. Best part about their all you can eat is that you order through an iPad which is great if your not familiar with the food names. Overall I think the food and service is great. The place is nice and clean. Would be back for sure!
I know very few restaurants in Melbourne that do hotpot so I was quite excited when I found out about this one. Overall, it is not a bad place. I love that you can order 2 types of broth since I can't handle the spicy one but my friends like it so much. Basically, they'll give you a sheet to fill in and you choose the broth and what you'd like to have in your hotpot, as simple as that. There're many things to choose from. Given it was my first time here, I went for quite a few things. However, next time I come back, I'm not gonna choose from the seafood section because last time none of us like the seafood here. That's the only down side of it. Very attentive staff indeed. I don't know if this happens to you but it had to me on several occasions where staff are not so friendly and attentive in Chinese restaurants which is a shame because their food is brilliant. One thing though is that they keep talking to us in Chinese but we did not find it offensive, we took it very lightly so overall, a very good experience.
A lot of people come here for their hotpot, and it is justifiably not too bad.
I prefer their menu dishes though as I would rather have my hotpot fix at Pot Lonsdale or Dainty Sichuan. Their dishes are tasty and most are well-flavoured. Especially love the salivating chicken and the garlic pork belly cold dish. Even their tomato with egg (a chinese staple) is well cooked and really good with rice.

Been here a couple of times and it never fails to dissapoint. The hotpot is average to good but the individual dishes you can order are mouthwatering. Highly recommend the Lobster and Pork slices in Garlice. Customer service here is exceptional! Staff are very attentive and helpful.
The spicy hot pot is really traditional and really spicy! Maybe the best one in Melbourne! Like the vegetables best, my friends and I ordered like 10 plates of vegetables and we just love it!
Been to this place twice! Really like their hot pot which you can order unlimited dishes (and of course, just don't waste food). Price is decent I guess since we can keep ordering meat and stuff!
Lovely food, lovely services, and lovely atmosphere!!!! If you are looking for authentic Sichuan spicy food or hot pot, I highly recommend this restaurant!!! Remember to pop up earlier especially during the dinner since it could be really busy haha...
It's not a good hot pot unless you're sweating during your meal. In our case the chilli soup base had us in sweat and tears. I dare you to try! (But do order two types of soup, if you can't handle).
Great for groups as it's a base rate of the soup then buffet style.
China Chili is definitely my no.1 pick if I feel like eating Sichuan food in the CBD. Although the food serve can be a bit slow as it is very busy in the evenings, it's still worth the waiting. Food is lovely.
If you dig spicy and authentic Chungking hotpot this is the place. It's only for the hardcore spicy lovers also you will find offals such as pigs brains which is not available any where else.
A work colleague was visiting and we stumbled upon China Chilli where we saw a multitude of people waiitng. Despite it being a weeknight and closer to the end of normal dinner time we still had to wait 15 mins, as it was THAT popular. China Chilli is essentially all you can eat hotpot goodness, sichuan style! You choose from a variety of base soups (which is not included in the advertised all you can eat price btw.. tad misleading, though overall still worth it) and order your meats, veggies , starches etc, all from the convenience of an iPad. The service is what you'd expect from a traditional Chinese restaurant (i.e. lacking) so luckily there is an iPad you order from and also helped that my colleague speaks mandarin (im sure the English would have been fine but the mandarin made it easier). You then self-serve, choose the array of sauces available to go with your hot pot. Just note the soup is legit crazy hot sichuan style if you do venture there, but u can get half and half to mix it up. The hot pot ingredients itself were on par, they are generous and the quality was on point: beef, chicken, pork, basic seafood etc.. all of which you can select from. It's everything you'd expect from an all you can eat joint in Chinatown. Doesn't disappoint; so dont let the outside atmosphere put you off as it can seem intimidating if you're not used to it.
definitely the place to go for group dinner on a winter night 😍😍😍 hotpot buffet is definitely my thing 😅 variety of meat and vegies dishes to choose from. But i wish there staff were more helpful 😏
Nice place to eat especially during the cold nights. Service was great and food was lovely. If you don't like hot food, you can choose hot pot, however if you don't mind the chilli, go for it! Goes down nice with a bowl of rice!
I ate here on Friday and was instantly impressed with the iPad to order with. We ordered a la carte and the food was good. I will be back for the buffet.
Very tasty hotpot! The buffet Has a good variety to choose from but occasionally they miss out on your order. The hotpot buffet is on the pricier end but for the quality, I will definitely be back!
Best Chinese restaurant visited possibily ever. The Mrs. and I went last Saturday after we came across it once by chance and wanted to try it out for some time.
very first impression even before the meal: the environment was amazing, very cultural, traditional, warm, and the waiter was attentive helpful patient and spoke to us as if we were his friends.
the food: was most certainly to the standards it boasts..the mild dish was indeed MILD,however not for people who do not like spicy at all, this was spicy with a strong fresh spiciness, fresh ingredients pork, rice, vegetables very tasty dumplings and a dipping sauce of which one could literally taste every single flavour in it: ginger, soy sauce,garlic,vinegar..it was all equally balanced and danced on your taste buds.
the price: what seems to be a slightly small share plate can be deceiving..with a small barrel of rice (and unlimited extra rice serves for just $2 for the first serve) the main dish we had after the dumpling entree was almost too much for us to finish. with soft drinks included, don't expect to pay much more than around $45,depending what you choose. we will be going back again and i strongly recommend this place to everyone who loves traditional REAL Chinese cuisine, and likes some fiery spice!
Pretty good. All my families liked it, acceptable price with a good taste. i would choose here rather than Danity Sichuan.
Great restaurant, spicy beef ribs were offthe hook! If you like spicy Chinese food that eclipses that boring typical "Chinese" food sold everywhere in aus. Come up the escalator to chilli heaven!
Ok but not great. As other reviewers have said, the servings are enormous, the service is fairly good but it somehow just doesn't hit the mark. The beef and black pepper was probably our favourite. Glad we had a Scoopon voucher to use.
China Chilli is absolutely MENTAL and will very much appeal to those who have a large (huge) appetite. What strikes you the most about the place, other than the great food are the serving sizes, they're nothing less than mammoth. So much so we took home more than we ate on the premises. Overall CC comes highly recommended!
China Chilli. Went there to this place with a Scoopon. Excellent spicy Chinese food. Much better than regular Australian Chinese take away places. If you love spicy food with awesome flavours, check this place out. I highly reccomend the Iron Plate Black Pepper Beef and the Kung Pow Prawns. The waitress also said that there are many non-spicy offerings, or you can ask for less spice if there are kids or people who don't like the spicy. I loved this place.
Great!. It's not often that we go to a restaurant twice, even less likely that we would go twice in a week, but China Chilli has actually made it to this pinnacle.
China Chilli's food is authentic Sichuan Chinese, coming from years of experience operating in the Sydney suburbs, and now establishing itself in Melbourne.
Whilst the restaurant is still in its infant stages, the staff should be greatly commended for their cheerful nature, natural smile and dedication to the business. Though it was strange that the staff were cleaning tables and wiping windows in front of clients at 7.30pm on a Monday night, the staff did it with such effort and glee that it prompted us to look at them with admiration. One particular staff wiped a window spot so intently to the point that her eyebrows frowned until she could remove the stubborn stain.
The tea smoked duck is extremely succulent with very subtle, but sufficient amount of smokiness. The skin is crisp as well, making this a must order.
The other Sichuan dishes are also packed with heaps of flavour, though their chilli ratings are not as high as other Sichuan restaurants. i.e. 3 chilli's here = 1 chilli in your other average stores. If you like heat, remember to request for more.
The receptionist was also very diligent in her duties and asked for all our feedback when we paid for the meal, to the point that she circled each dish we ordered on the bill and wrote down all the comments we were making. Comments would be passed back onto management for adjustment to the Melbourne community.
This is the longest review I have written here. I assure you I am not a staff member nor am i under commission to do so.
Cost-effective Chinese Hot Pot. Worth the Penny.
China Chilli Melbourne is a Sichuan restaurant in the Rainbow Complex on Bourke Street, which is home to many Chinese restaurants. I discovered it while heading up the escalators to the CBD branch of Dainty Sichuan a few weeks prior and added it to my list of “places to try”.
