Review Loong Palace - Melbourne

Fantastic value for money. Our family (4 ppl) had delicious food for about $70. Great Chinese and tasty Malaysian food - we devoured everything. Popular Wednesday night crowd of regulars were there but we managed to get a table. Service was courteous, prompt and quick.

Our favorite local take away Chinese food. Sliced fish with ginger and spring onion is quick and delicious.

Unfortunately, this restaurant has now closed. Looks like there will be a Japanese restaurant opening soon. Such a shame. Was a great local restaurant.

One of my favourite local haunts. The staff are incredibly friendly and accomodating while the food is decent considering the reasonable prices.

Great family restaurant. My family has been dinning here for the past four years. Friendly host with excellent customer service, they remember their regular customers. Food is great, we love the deep fried fonder, Loong special fried rice, Loong special bird nest, fried ice cream and many more!!

Delightful little place!. This is the best Chinese I have found in melb and thank god I found this little pocket of delight. We eat here on a fortnightly basis. Amazing service - always very friendly and obliging. The meals have always been incredibly fresh - The sweet and sour pork is worth a mention – it to die for. The prawn crackers are sometimes stale but that’s a small price to pay for all of the amazing food. Plus half the time they throw a bag in for free. Keep up the great work!

We have been here many times. Fantastic service. The staff always remember us. Food is plentiful and fresh and so cheap. This place is a treasure.

Neighbourhood Cathay. What a delight to find this place.

40 years ago my parents introduced me to the delights of Chinese Food at the Cathay Restaurant at the same location in Doncaster Road, and to find the tradition still being kept alive by Loong Palace brought back very many happy memories.

This place doesn't try to be anything other than a friendly neighbourhood restaurant, with honest fresh food and quality ingredients, at very reasonable prices.

Our Mongolian Beef was very tasty, with genuinely tender beef strips, and very generous portion which was a genuine sharing dish for 4 people.

Critics mentioning slow service, noise and being cramped are really expecting way too much.

Jennifer who managed the floor was a delight, and addressed most of the customers by name, the busy takeaways were impacting on the table service, but quickly forgiven once our food was coming out, with an additional plate of fried rice coming out "gratis" as an apology for the delay.

However this is a genuine family run neighbourhood restaurant, and a little gem in this location, Peter Sun the old owner of the Cathay Restaurant would be proud the tradition is continuing at the Loong Palace.

Ordered the Laksa, Fried Kheh Teow, combination fried rice. Have to say we didn't enjoy any of the dishes. Very friendly service though

If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, then this is not the place. Even restaurants in Box Hill have higher standards.

Interesting time warp. This place is interesting and despite it all, i will probably go back and see if i can order better. It has apricot colored plastic flowers, every dish came with a sprig of parsley...despite the balwyn democraphics this place was very anglo with a steady parade of takeouts all with those pink coloured prawn crackers. Most of our food was average but the beef curry was really very good and so we would probably give this very popular place another try

I'm a regular, would eat in or get take away once a fortnight. Love this place. Wonton soup is the best wonton soup I've ever had, A++

Cheap and cheerful. Our family often drops in to the Loong. Good food, good attentive service and happy atmosphere all provide for great value. Jennifer is a great host, always working hard to ensure everyone has a good time. Get there and try it out.

WE LOVE LOONG. Everything in Balwyn was closed so decied to get takeaway from this place. We got the Szuchuan beef, chicken and corn soup AND THESE BLOODY AWESOME DIM SIMS and some other stuff i cant remember. They fold their serviettes so it looks like a little hat and you dont really see that attention to artisitic detail anymore so i thought that was kind of cool. They also have a happy cat and a cool chinese ornament on the wall. When we left we forgot to pick up some food and the little chinese lady came running out and chased us up the street to give it to us, we even got a carry box and free prawn crackers, never had such extraordinary customer service in my life, THUMBS UP FOR MRS LOONG!
