Love this place. Great Cafe with creative menu, super friendly staff, and great burgers. I've have the smokey cheeks, the hello Bello, and the tres Carnes burgers... All were awesome. The sweet potato chips are probably the best I have ever had. They make great coffees too. We will frequent this place alot as our go to burger joint.

Had this place in my radar for a while but only managed to go earlier this week. It happened to be a Tuesday where they’re having a special deal ($16 for any burger with a can drink), talk about timing! Ordered the El’ Grande which was superb, generous portion of fillings and love the crispy onions rings that came with it. Perhaps the patty can be just a tad more rare and that would be perfect, anyway this is just my preference. Staff is friendly and available wifi tipped the rating from 4.5 to 5 stars. A great place to be.

Great place for burger and coffee. Bumped into this little joint today. Had to wait a little longer but the guy explained that they were short staffed due to COVID. Glad we waited for the food. Had the Hello Bello burger which was one of the best burgers I’ve had for a while. And the coffee was just as good. Friendly staff. I do recommend this cafe and I will definitely visit again.

Fried chicken and waffle 🧇 It's so nice to have this special set in Melbourne cuz it was one of my best memories of the Uni life in Toronto. And also the staffs here are so so so nice and you will see a little cute girl there also. Lovely place and lovely people here 💕

We ate in last night and tried a few dishes including the Japanese style chicken nuggets and cheeseburger. The flavour was phenomenal, especially the burger! The price was good, the owner was incredibly friendly and we will definitely be returning for that burger!

We had a delicious celebration meal for 6 tonight. A mix of special chip dishes, burgers, a salad and I had a lovely vanilla chai latte to top it off. Very friendly service too!

Today we both had burger cravings so took off for a take away burger run to Bamboo Bean in Malvern East. Between us we got a General Tso Chicken burger, Double cheeseburger, both potato and sweet potato fries and a blueberry smoothie (with so much more). The General Tso burger was very much the asian inspiration with a sake and ginger fried chicken, daikon, slaw, sriracha kewpie and a sweet miso sauce. Still with crunch despite the journey. I made my cheeseburger a double and was delighted by the chunky flavour filled patties and generous melty cheese. I am a pickles fan and them combined with that mustard mayo and smokey relish completed the burger. Would have this again in a heart beat. Both the fries on the side were substantial and well seasoned and made it home still hot although perhaps a little less crispy than when they started. Back to that smoothie. We were blown away with the combination of Blueberry, Dragonfruit, orange and ginger. I felt my body being recharged with antioxidants. If burgers ain’t your thing you will be pleasantly surprised by some of the other tasty offerings in their take away menu from brunch favourites to toasties, jaffles and salads

2nd time we have ordered burgers and fries. Had to throw burger out because it was cold and greasy. We ate the chips. Expensive chips at
Thirty bucks!!

Really lovely service and the General Tso’s Chicken Burger was interesting, unique and quite tasty (I definitely recommend it). The sweet potato chips were also great! The only thing I’d point out is that the Mac and Cheese Croquette burger was a little dry, but an interesting concept all the same!

From the minute we walked in we were greeted with friendly smiles. Fancy vegetarian burger options for me and various grain-fed beef and chicken burger options for meat eaters. We were both very happy. Brioche was shiny and smooth on the outside and smooth and fluffy on the inside. Toasted, lovely. Portobello mushroom and haloumi with pesto and rocket burger for me. Wedges were cooked well with a lovely spice on it served wirh sour cream, sweet chilli condements. My latte was delicious. A smooth delicious roast, made well. So we'll I scoffed it before taking a photo ;)
There is currently also a burger and drink deal for mon-fri lunch and 10% off for pick up.. We were very happy and we will definitely be back.

Bamboo Bean has been operating since March 2018 by Mark So. This shop has been managed well by Mark and shop has been converted in the first year from a hippy ambiance to a cosy and versatile spot for a family lunches and casual date night. Neighborhood loved to hang out in this case which is strategically located on 301 Waverley Road, Malvern East.

We were invited to Bamboo Bean on the weekend (to takeaway obviously) and I have to say my burger was quite honestly the most impressive burger I’ve had in some time. It was messy sure but oh so worth it. I thoroughly recommend you try the General Tso the amount of flavour they managed to pack into that chicken was truly phenomenal.

And such a unique option in a burger too being covered in ginger and sake, definitely something different. The carrot slaw and Smokey miso sauce were the ideal accompaniments and the sweet potato chips seasoned to perfection. I simply couldn’t fault it and it’s definitely going to be one of my first pit stops once this isolation nightmare is over.

We loved our food from bamboo bean. Fresh ingredients, generous portions and very reasonable prices. Now offering delivery given the climate, they really do tick all boxes. The Mexican salad with chicken added was definitely the winner and left us super full. We highly recommend checking these guys out and helping to #savehospo

Best burger I have ever had! The staff were very nice and friendly! Highly recommended 👍👍👍

Came here for a late lunch, arrived past 2pm to an almost empty cafe. We thought service would be quick but wasn’t the case. We waited more than half an hour for the first 2 burgers & the next 2 came when they were almost finished. Side of chips & onion rings were forgotten, got served when the meal was finished. The late burgers arrived the table just lukewarm & turned cold quickly. Just poor service with no care!

Omg yas to the burgers!! Bamboo bean offers all your regular brunch items but what really stood out was their selection of burgers ❤️
Add on some truffle fries (portions are huge!!!) and strap yourself in for a food coma.
Pancake binge continues.. and this one was a very pleasant surprise especially for the eyes. We know we eat with our eyes and Bamboo Bean has played to that strength. Simple pancakes that I could’ve made at home but dressed with small blobs of ricotta cheese, berry coulis, fair floss and hundreds and thousands. Simple done brilliantly.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sat a couple of weeks back. Most of us had burgers and they were all delicious. Not sure what so many places obsession is with serving food on chopping boards but I wish it would come to an end! Serve cheese and cured meat on a board but not a messy burger. Flavours were great and service was friendly but a little haphazard.
Would go back.

Love the food that were served. Had pan-fried salmon that was delicious! The fish cooked the way I like it. Good value kids meal. Friendly staff. New management. Full of potential.

I have been walking past Bamboo Bean for a while now and have wanted to try for so long. The cheeseburger was full of flavour and tasted like good homemade cooking. However, it was stone cold. My “phat fries” weren’t cooked all the way through. Had to spit them out onto a napkin. Such a waste of food. Also we made specific requests for certain things not to be added as some coworkers have allergies. Still got cheese on the wedges when someone is allergic to dairy. Wedges were tasty but also slightly undercooked.

I call my experience: LOVE AT FIRST BITE.

Since the new management/owner has taken over, I realised that this place has a enormous potential to go far in the hospitality industry.

Working in hospitality for 7 years I love finding new places to eat, I came here just last week.

FOOD: Really refreshing to see food being made to order, with fresh and light ingredients that melt your hunger away. Let’s add the fact that the new head chef created a new menu and it will completely steal your heart every time. The food doesn’t just taste good but it looks like art.

INTERIOR: I’m guessing the previous owners were trying to save on money as seen from the furniture and decor however it’s still comfortable seatings. The vibe I got from this restaurant was really relaxing and it was a calming place to be.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Very friendly, understanding and energetic individuals!

We were here at Bamboo Bean on a Friday night where there's good food and live music. The place had a real quirky feel and very eclectic. Our favorite duo, Souled on You, of Josh & Paola were performing.

We had a burger each. I had the Mexican Mistress but cannot remember the other. The pattie was generous, cooked medium rare, great sauce, cheese, salsa in a brioche bun. Was a yummy burger. It came with potato wedges and sour cream.

Food was good, smiles behind the counter, good coffee, great music, we'll be back.

Looked interesting but wasn't. Being licenced ONLY did not make sense for a cafe - Malvern burger $14 - glass of Chardonnay $12. Service was below average. We were the only customers but took 40 minutes to get our meal - was told take away orders were in first so we had to wait. Had to ask for the wine list, sent back 2 out of 3 glasses for clean ones - 10 minute wait.
Burgers were just above average, one was medium, the others well done. Had to ask for more serviettes which we were told was normal. On leaving, I suggested that if it was normal to have customers ask for more serviettes, why not have some rolled in a glass on the table - reply - oh that could cause wastage and damage the environment. As they say "been there, done that" but never again

Really nice burger cafe. Coffee is great. They do struggle to keep up when busy, as the grill they use is very small, but the burgers were worth the wait.

The decor is very Melbourne and has a great atmosphere.

Try the mushroom burger for a change and loved it.

Also a great selection of hot sauce availble.
Recommend if not in a hurry and will come back again.

Bought groupon and used it today, we waited 40minutes for our burger, but we dont blame the chef as he was alone in the kitchen and the other guy that do the service as well as a barista by himself. I think the owner must be a bit more understanding and hire one more person to help out during busy hour as its definitely couldnt cope. the older couple in the other room kept looking at us as they were waiting for their meal as well, and they looked annoyed..
food-wise, it was okay, i ordered their portabello n haloumi and my partner ordered mexican, mine was okay but personally i dont like their burger bun, it was tasteless and dry, but the filling was tasty. My partner one was okay, just the meat is not marinated so a bit tasteless. Overall okay experience, if they hire more people and add more things on their menu like salad/soup, ill consider to go back..

We definitely enjoyed our meal at Bamboo Bean! The shop itself was quite cosy and decorated with heaps of green. The owner was really nice and accommodating to our requests!
I tried the Mexican burger with wedges. The burger was quite large and I definitely struggled to finish it! The flavours were great, I loved that it was spicy!
The patty however was a bit too cooked for my liking though; it wasn't as moist as it should be and I could taste the burnt bits at some parts!
The wedges were seriously outstanding! They were cooked and seasoned to perfection: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which heaps of flavour. I loved that they gave us the sweet chilli and sour cream sauces too. I really enjoyed it - just wished there were more!
Price wise it's typical for gourmet burger joints. The place also does brunch and coffee so I might return to try that next time!

One-off kind of a place .....

That's what we like as Melbournians ...... a converted old house in my old stomping ground, Malvern East, they were just old houses back then, now many interesting foodie joints. A bit of Reggae, hippy, happy, layback, colourful (green predominantly) combined with vintage and travelling global stuff, music was at the right volume, we can converse, thanks guys.

YES, lots of bamboos everywhere, hence the name.

On the food side, we've ordered four different kind of burgers; 2 beef patty and 2 chicken breast, stick with the beef. Chicken were tough, lightly marinated, not much immersion of those marinades and just didn't gel well. Beef burgers were just right; Modestly Malvern is good and Mexican Mistress is a standout.
Guys, easy on the sauce and a bigger Brioche buns please, those buns are flat and tiny, didn't do justice to those patties, weren't attractive and too hard to hold while eating them without making a mess and it slides everywhere.

Wedges were magnificent, just easy on the seasoning. Great presentation and good service too.

Good coffee, friendly staff and have had burgers here. Staff always willing to help and up for a chat. Burgers were large and had a great home made taste!

Great tasting burgers, much better than Mr burger haha. I would suggest more sauce for the wedges, and please do something about the cooking fumes. It stinks out the whole place.

Just wow! The burgers are to die for, super juicy, everything cooked to perfection. Chris, the owner, is lovely. You can tell he puts his heart into the place. The vibe is really chilled with a cool den style dining at the back, a courtyard and seating out the front. We came with a voucher for two burger meals but it's definitely worth paying full price for, hands down. It's a whole new world when you discover a great local eatery! We can't wait to try the brunch menu! And the milkshakes!

By day Bamboo Bean serves up traditional breakfast dishes, but after 4pm (Wednesday to Saturday) the cafe switches into Bamboo Burger mode. With this cafe, Chris Jackson the blonde bombshell wanted to re-create the relaxed and friendly atmosphere he experienced during his travels around the Americas. The cafe has been around for a year, having recently celebrated their birthday in August, with the burger menu a new addition, made with ingredients that are high quality and locally sourced as much as possible.

I read a review on Facebook so decided to stop past here for lunch.

We didn't know that the burgers were only a night time thing, but Chris politely and kindly agreed to make us some. I had the double beef burger. It was absolutely sensational. The bacon was superb. The patties were fresh and cooked to perfection. I was recommended a terrific stout, which turned out to complement the burger perfectly.

The wedges were nice too and didn't taste like frozen ones (even if they were!)

My partner had a portebello burger. It was nice too but honestly the mushroom was a big soggy. Apart from that, awesome!

We honestly couldn't have asked for better service or a better meal. The price was on the mid to high side but well worth it considering the excellent quality

Stop by, these guys deserve to succeed.

Went there for a quick cocktail while waiting for some Thai. Great service and great drink. Best courtyard in the area. Looking forward to summer beers here.
Had lunch at the bamboo lunch yesterday with 3 others.Owner away but owner's mother is running the place. Some locals who were paying their bill said the minestrone soup was to die for. Ignored recommendation and had the gourmet brekky roll which was excellent. The owner's mum was very friendly and made our visit a very pleasant one. The waiter was very amusing and entertaining. Great coffee. Will definitely return and highly recommend to others. Doug.

New local cafe on Waverly Road. Coffee is excellent and the new burger nights and to die for! We have tried both the Beef and chicken burgers and both were fantastic! (As were the homemade wedges!). Great owner and staff and recommend highly to all

Stopped in on a whim... Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the coffee! Had a soy cap and a skinny latte... Both nice and smooth and creamy. Will definitely pop back in again to try some food.

Really impressive ambiance, super friendly service and strong dish presentation. The food was tasty...however I have definitely eaten better brunch dishes. Coffee however was a standout!

Amazing coffee and friendly staff! We had a wonderful experience and came back many times on our trip to Melbourne. Highly recommended! :) Thanks!

Great antipasto dish for 4. We were having a blast. However, the brunch is average. My friends' toasts were a bit soggy like mine and they tasted fine but not that good.

A much-needed place where you can have a drink and relax in the sunshine! Great for kids during the day (they can't escape the beer garden), excellent food (try the breaky roll) and great coffee. The owner is super-friendly - just a few minutes talking to him makes you want to support his new venture. Haven't checked it out on a Friday night yet (is open later on Friday nights, despite what it says on Zomato) but will be doing so soon.

This place will rock your socks!!! The best owners, the best vibes and the best coffee ! I had the queen Egyptian and it was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious!! Will deff come back!

Great service. Really good modern food & coffee. A hidden gem in malvern east!
They have a lovely little beer garden out the back too. The owner is super friendly and is the chef.

Love this place. Great antipasto dish for 2. Licensed for those alcoholic beverages you may desire. Live band Friday night with ample space plus the joys of a beer garden
