Review Nando's Flame Grilled Chicken - Melbourne

Worst Nandos experience so far, server was unfriendly. Asked for water but been told they ran out of water and no more glasses. “All water and glasses is with customers” Looked around there were only 2 glasses out with customer and one bottle. How the heck did Nandos became like this?? Quality of food and service has gone down so much… Been a loyal customer to Nandos all these years… but this is my last time coming back to Nandos, please save your money and just go to other place. Super disappointed.

The lovely team is highly well trained to burn 🔥 your chicken to CHARCOAL. The other time I had to return the chicken as I live around the corner. I’d say the Dark / Black in skin colour you’re the more they’d love to serve you Charcol burnt chicken ☄️☄️☄️☄️

I know Nando’s since its early days in South Africa, back in 2006, it’s been my comfort food ever since, reminding me of my childhood. I visit almost every store if I come across it for lunch or dinner, and I was disappointed in my visit to Nando’s South Melbourne. First and foremost, the most easily noticeable factor, the food was served COLD. I don’t understand how this is possible, I’m assuming they didn’t cook the food in the right order and let the food wait to serve them all together, but cold food should never be the case. We had halloumi sticks and dip and the halloumi was cold and chewy. Usually when Nando’s paella is served it’s smells delicious and it’s nice and steamy. Don’t even get me started on the burgers. If a food store cannot make their most simplest bun good, they’re not worth it. We’ve ordered two Classic burgers. The buns were not fresh, they were going stale. It was so gross biting into them. The aioli sauce and basting weren’t generous. The combination of cold chicken in the burger didn’t help. There is definitely an inconsistency between what I had in this store and anywhere else.

Zero star rating,,Horrible experience at Nandos south Melbourne, Food was ordered at 9:25pm and and was provided in table at 9:40pm and the waiter comes and tells shop closes in 10 mins, be quick, be quick …at 9:50pm. in very rude tone. Not a charity or free food is provided, treat your customers with respect or don’t take orders where you can’t fully service customers, Nandos was my go to place from years, unprofessional management along with their staff is ruining the franchise in recent time , please change your attitude towards running Business.

Beware you get charged for items that they decide not to pack. Then you’re left arguing with Ubereats just to get the money you paid for the items back. Not to mention the inconvenience of having to order and wait for something else at another shop afterwards because it never showed up. If it happened once it might be put down to a honest mistake but not multiple times and to different people. I also read it has happened on quite a few other reviews. It happened to me twice and I didn’t get it again after that, and it happened to a friend of mine too. Also delivery took way too long and when it finally did arrive my husband complained about it taking so long and the delivery driver gave him the middle finger and drove away laughing. Very disgusting customer service. The salad which they actually decided they would pack had one thin slice of advocado at the very bottom and was mainly just lettuce mix complete rip off merchants and theives here.

Been to this nandos afew times. Some times good. Sometimes average. Sometimes terrible. Very hit and miss. The service isn't as friendly and staff appear to come off as very rude. The food was average when ordered on this occasion, hence the two stars. A smile or hope you have a good day goes a long way.

Food is standard delicious. Although we came during dinner time and there weren't many tables that could accomodate 7 people, the crowd turnover was quick and the food came at a reasonable time. Sauces were all filled up and staff were helpful and friendly. Water to wash your hands are available on site with drinking water, cups and clean utensils. We enjoyed our meal.

I cant believe i just paid $20 for "half" a chicken a coleslaw and bottle of water. The chicken was 2 tiny drumsticks and one of the smallest wings ive ever seen. Little meat on any of the pieces. The coleslaw tasted off! Normally theirbl slaws a delicious but this tasted sour and like it had started to ferment. Hope this doesn't make me sick later. Here is a promise to you Nandos, I will never eat at your restaurant(s) again.

The staff at Nando’s South Melbourne do not wear gloves when preparing your food. I watched in horror as burgers, salads etc were prepared with bare hands. To make matters worse, the staff are texting/browsing on their mobile phones in between preparing orders so whatever germs are on their phones are going straight into the food.

Got a classic burger for lunch at this branch and was served up pretty quickly. The chicken was really moist and juicy and tasted great in the Burger with Peri Peri hot sauce.

I go to nandoes a lot but never again to the south Melbourne store. It took three times for the guy to get the order correct then another two more to get the price right. If he wasn’t on the phone at the same time he might have got right.I asked for chips to be under cook and when I got them they were over cooked.Went in to ask if they could do it agin but said no only to look back to find my meal gone attacked by birds.wouldnt re cook another as if chips were done right in the first place it wouldn’t have happened. Asked for money back they said no with a lot of attitude, don’t go there they have no customer service skills.

Lovely restaurant, staff where nice and working hard despite me being the only one in the shop. Very clean also, service was excellent and the guys seemed happy to be there.
This would have to be one of the BEST NANDOS experience lve had. I had a fairly basic order of a whole Chicken with Lemon and Herb dressing and a bowl of PERI PERI chips.
Chicken was cooked to absolute perfection, the skin was actually chard which is what cooking on flames is about. The lemon and Herb flavours had been basted and cooked right thru, the meat was so juicy with all the marinates held in with the skin and chard coating. Peri Peri chips where perfectly cooked and had the absolute perfect amount of peri peri.
WILL RETURN 🐔🐥🐣🐤

One of the better Nando’s in Melbourne due to the superb customer service. The manager is friendly and welcoming, and actually made an effort to walk around asking each table how their meal went.

Food-wise, what you see is what you get. Nando’s doesn’t purport to be anything fancy, and it delivers on it promise of succulent grilled chicken. The peri-peri salt chips is to die for - hot and crunchy, and generously flavoured with peri-peri salt.

Not a fan of the burgers, nor the paella, but the pita wraps are decent.

The service is friendly and ambiance is spacious and decorative. The food is good as usual, but they have limited options for sauces for takeaway.

Great service, well-prepared meals, beautiful interior, clean and well-kept restaurant, feels like new! Loved the artwork on the walls. Cutlery and plates were very clean. Prompt service, friendly and very helpful staff

I have tried many Nandos and this outlet is easily one of the best Nandos in Melbourne. Service is excillent with very friendly manager and service staff. They also came in between our meals to check if everything was ok. Received Cheesy Garlic mini pita as serprise and it was totally delicious. Will have it again next time, thanks for this. They recommended me to try their meetbals and will surely try in my next visit.

Visited around 2.30pm and service was very quick. Asked for Crispy skin chicken and they delivered it. Yummy. Peri Chips were nice and super hot.

Will highly recommend others to try this restaurant.

Wow how exciting a vegan burger at Nandos!!! I thought as I was looking at the menu expecting to j
order just chips as usual. I decided to splurge a bit and get chips, the mushroom hummusphere burger and a beer (I was hungover after all) and I was not disappointed! The burger was delicious and the chips amazing as usual! The staff were also very friendly. I'm glad I went to Nandos on a whim yesterday and decided to actually look at the menu instead of just ordering chips.

South Melbourne is definitely the friendliest staff I have encountered at any Nandos. Clean, cozy, and yummy chicken. I particularly like the chicken paella with BBQ basting.
Gee
It's been so long since I've eaten Nando's but this just really hit the spot. I forgot how overpriced they are, but the chicken and chips really hit the spot!

As a Nandos fan, we tried the South Melbourne outlet for a change. So far, I can say that the South Melbourne outlet has the best customer service out of all the outlets we have tried. Our food was made quickly & during our meal staff asked how our meal was. This outlet is smaller than the standard Nandos, it was very busy and our only issue was that the they need better ventilation, it was smokey. We will definitely go back.

Not sure what possessed us to have a meal here. Nando's had always been passably passable. This outlet just as average. Chicken was overcooked (read:burnt) and mostly dry. Sauce bottles were seriously clogged up, like a blocked nose on a spring day. Rice and chips were ok.

Nando’s seems to have a funny reputation here in Melbourne, there’s so many around but people love to bag them and compare to the UK ones which apparently really, really good. Apparently. We had some Nando’s in New Zealand, but I don’t recall it having that much of an impact. Of my positive experience at this branch, I had an open pita with chicken tenderloins, African grain salad, tomato and coriander mint yoghurt. This was decent with a big serving and the salad was tasty. Chicken wasn’t huge (more like a glorified nugget) but I was happy with the dish.

What a horrible experience. Southland Nandos, Cheltenham, give it a miss folks. Used plates, cutlery, glass, etc all over the place. I had to clear our table. Young, stupid, and inept staff. The girl taking our order was particularly thick, insisting on asking us every time we opened our mouths "do you want that it a meal like a flaming parrot(a hugely annoying copycat of McDonalds this). Hit and miss food. $30 for two burgers and a bowl of chips. My partners Vege burger was mistakenly made hot so it was almost too spicy to eat and she got half way into it before this hit. Her description, " Hot and bland, after heat blew away the taste and asked for mild". I went for the Supremo burger. "Supremo" must be a description of the price, because it could not have been describing any other aspect of the burger, except maybe the disappointment factor. It was small. The type of buns used was inappropriate. A $10 burger that has a piece of a chicken, a single slice of tomato, and two pieces if lettuce which didn't even cover the base bun is appalling value for money.
..
Never again Nando's, ever.

Is this a shameless effort to get some more "Level 9" Zomato foodie points? Maybe, but hey, I went there and ate. This was not planned, in fact, the night before I had two friends bagging hard the Nando's empire. Then, the next day, my other friend said to meet him and Nando's on Clarendon prior to our next appointment. I have to report, it wasn't too bad. Although I was expecting apocalyptic food. I had the open faced pita called the Tender Lover. Not too bad at all. The Mediterranean inspired lentil and parsley tabbouleh was fresh and well seasoned. I'm not in a rush tom go back, but in a fix, it was alright. Also, my chicken was just right, good char and super moist.

lovely burger! crispy chips!

Acerola. I just walked out from the Nandos on 270-272 Clarendon St South Melbourne, as a fun of Nandos, I think I should share this unpleasant experience with other funs. I have tried many Nandos Restaurants in VIC, and never found customer service was an issue in Nandos, besides I like the chicken in Nandos so so much that I recommended it to everyone in my life.

However, when I walked in the Nandos in South Melbourne today, I found its hard to communicate with the waiter. He has a strong accent, and act like a "wise" guy. I ordered a Pealla, but he gave me a Pita. When I tried to talk this issue with him, he insisted that Pita was my order without saying a single word "sorry" from the beginning to the end. He sounds like its all my fault, and since "my fault" was on the table, I should ate them all with no doubt.

I could understand this communication failure could due to many impersonal reasons, but his attitude was so bad, and he said he will not change it for me again and again. Actually, I just wanted to talk about this issue at first, and a polite apology is enough. Unfortunately, I didn't get it.

I tried to talk this issue with another man worked in this Nandos, but he left me with the first man. The first repeated the same words and attitude, which really pissed me off. Since then I really wanted my dish to be replaced by Pealla. Nevertheless, he refused to replace it by a very rude "No", I was so angry, and then walked out of this Nandos Restaurant without having my paid lunch, and felt really bad.

I still love Nandos, but I will never go to this Nandos Restaurant again. I will also suggesting my friends don't go to this one, in case they might have similar experience.

NEW MANAGEMENT. I visited nandos at south melbourne this saturday after hearing that the management has changed. The food was surprisingly delicious and it was served to me fairly quickly (much better than last time). I was also greeted by happy staff members which was a rare site when the restaurant was under the old management. I would definitely go there again!

Terrible food and awful service!

A quiet dine. Ok, so I can't see anything topping my first ever dining experience at this Nando's franchise.
It was the spicy rice and chicken tenderloins that I ordered. Although I did walk in rather late, my order was taken care of pleasantly with a smile and served to my table as well. It was tasteful and freshly-made.
A return visit and I tried the supremo chicken wrap recommended by the assistant behind the counter. Usually, where possible I prefer to 'fork n knife' my meals, but I knew I had to 'man-handle' this wrap cos it was a surprisingly large wrap packed with filling and flavour, and I was hungry-like-a-wolf.
On my third visit, I again went for the chicken tenderloins and spicy rice which was richer in flavour and spice compared to another SE suburbs branch. The chicken was tender and the meal was piping-hot and fresh, and the staff checked with me, and politely cleared my table once I had finished.
With each visit I enjoyed a quiet dining experience, with several other patrons coming and going, dining and ordering take-away, so they must certainly be doing things right to be so busy, especially with what seems to be regular customers.
If what you are looking for is a quiet dining experience, whether by yourself, or with someone dear, or even with friends, it certainly 'hits the spot'. It may not be fast like McDonalds, or poshed up like an up-market restaurant, but it's that quiet dining experience in-between, and this is my drop-in spot when I'm in town.

South Melbourne Nandos trendy restraunt always offers a welcoming experience with great friendly service even at the busiest times.the food is always fresh and delicious sticking to the true Nando experience.

Good food. I went with my friend to this nando's, really loved their supremo wraps and chips ;) the chicken wasn't dry and was satisfied with the meal. The restaurant also had a good atmosphere to it.

Sth Melb nandos has very ordinary service i ordered rice and they told me it would take 10 minutes. After waiting they showed up with chips. And the owner told me they sold out of rice fair enough but don't continue to sell rice in front of me and serving it out to other customers. The chicken is
Ordinary also wouldn't recommend it.

OK food but HORRIBLE SERVICE. The chicken pita I had fell apart after picking it up, but my main gripe with this store is the HORRIBLE customer service I received. The woman services was EXTREMELY rude and abrupt - and rolled her eyes when I told her that she had chosen the wrong account for me on my debit card. I've complained to Nando's head office to her previously and they gave me a meal voucher to shut me up - but it seems like her attitude has remained the same.

WORST WORST WORST nando's EVER!!!!!!!. It was the worst experience you can ever get in a fast food restaurant!!
we went there after work hoping to just get a quick meal and go home.
cashier was an old guy (i think he is the owner), we ordered a whole chicken and a side to share. For 2 ppl I don't think this was too less to order, but he gave us a very mean look as if we were not ordering enough!!
Chicken was really really dry!! it was like they precooked the chicken ages ago and microwaved it with some sauce as people order... Worst thing is whenever you walk to get a sauce or plates or napkins, the old guy at the counter will stair at you like you are going to steal something.
We couldn't finish our chicken as it was too dry and tough, I really wanted to just leave it there and go, but my partner didn't want to waste it so we went to ask for some takeaway boxes. There were a couple of other customers at the counter so I lined up to wait for my turn. But the old guy ignored me and served the guy after me even when it was my turn!! I guess he figured that we've already ordered and will not going to make anymore money out of us so tried to avoid any extra costs by giving out takeaway boxes. Overall very very unpleasant experience and will never ever visit again!!

NANDO'S SHOULD NOT LET THIS KIND OF OWNER RUNNING THEIR FRANCHISE!!

Worst Nando's Franchise. First of all, it was the worst Nando's chicken ever had in my entire life. Thought they were franchise but the taste of those chickens were just shocking, my guess was that they were probably not fresh and they were over-cooked and burnt.

When I was on my way to get more napkins, I felt the owners eyes on me for how many sheets of napkins I was going to get. As soon as I turned around he looked away.

The worst part was, we didn't finish all the chickens (1st time in Nando's as well, usually we couldn't have enough) so I went to ask for some boxes to pack them home. We had half of a chicken left and he gave me 2 paper bags, when I said those won't fit he asked one of the boys to pass me a box. The poor waiter went to get those normal ones but he got stopped, because the owner wanted him to get me those smaller boxes (in an attempt to save cost?). I saw the boy went 'f**k' from his mouth without a sound, apparently for what an absolute ahole his boss was and had been, to maybe all customers as well as his staff members.

Worst experience Nando's ever, they shouldn't be offered the chance to have that franchise, absolutely disgraceful.

Rude cashier. Last time ive been there they were so busy and i was fully understand they couldnt serve their best. but i was pissed of with the female cashier. she was rude and bossy, keep yelling at the staffs like she owns them. later i passed their restaurant, she served customer as a cashier while sitting. what kind of attitude is that?
im a never-coming-back customer.
Maurice Lim
Not going back. Saw the owner of the restaurant yelled at his workers when we were dining there. I felt he was really rude to them and it really disturbs us. Chicken is too dry, over cooked. Spicy rice is too thick. Definitely not going to go back there.
Hara_hetta
Good food but bit rude. The food is usually fine, service was rude, impatient and unfriendly.
Gin
It was disappointing. Perhaps I have ordered the wrong item on the menu or my expectations were too high but I will not be stepping into another Nando's here. Expensive but nothing special about the food.
