Please order the chefs recommendation, these are the really tasteful one
The humble cumin lamb burger was a nice treat - very plain but really good - tender ! The little plate of sesame noodles also a nice and refreshing treat. Recommend this place for it’s authentic and quality servings.
Taste good, big portion, friendly staff, quick service, but small place. Overall, super good and will definitely come again with my friends, thanks
So comforting on a cold day (as winter is coming)!
FOOD: I ordered the tomato & egg biang biang noodles and the waitress was kind enough to make my dish less oily as just lessen the calories y’know? But oh my, it’s so good! There’s just something about tomato & egg that’s so good with any chinese dish and this really takes me back to feeling like I’m at my Asian home again. Also, for $12.90, it’s honestly worth it and even for someone with a big appetite like me, I could still take it away and have it for dinner the next day 🤪 (when it’s almost as good as it was fresh even with the microwave, you know its YUM).
With pretty good service, affordable and delicious food, Chinger Biang Biang Noodles is really a good place for us students when we’re just lazy and want something yummy and cheap!
Great foods, I come to this restaurant every weekend. This is exactly what noodle in Xi’an tastes! Small place and limited seats, better avoid rush hours
Plus point: the noodles are handmade
I ordered spicy chicken with potato biang biang noodle. The noodle is a bit tough but tasted quite authentic. The meat is super tender and flavourful. Not too spicy gravy with some szechuan peppercorn to slightly numb your tongue. The MSG taste was strong and made my mouth dry.
Holy moly the noodles here are next level! So chewy and fat! The service was fast and friendly, but there aren’t many tables so I imagine you would have to wait during peak dinner and lunch times.
We tried the spicy pungent beef noodle soup, the oil fried biang biang and the lamb dumplings in hot and sour soup. Massive generous serves, all dishes were flavoursome, oily, but light and fresh at the same time. Excellent use of fresh herbs and the perfect amount of chilli. I can’t wait to work my way through the menu.
A lovely, no-frills eatery specialising in authentic Western Chinese / Uighur cuisine. I recommend E2, E9, E10, H1 and H2. Keep in mind that because of the limited amount of indoor space available, queues are frequent.
This place is great. It is small and does get busy. I haven't had something at this restaurant that has disappointed me. The portions are big for the cost.
I highly recommend the Uyghur Yogurt and Chinese Burgers (I prefer the Lamb).
Will come back for:
+ Uyghur Yogurt
+ Mount Qi Beef Spicy Biang Biang Noodle
+ Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger
If you are craving for a bit of noodle but want to try something a little different, give this place a shot. The Biang Biang noodles are hand pulled and textural, and spicy. All very appetising. I particularly like the Mount Qi Beef Biang Biang noodle as it had a slight sourness to it that made the dish moorish. We also tried the spicy beef noodles and the braised beef noodles which were also good. Be warned though, serving size is on the generous side (which is not a bad thing if you love your noodles). The spicy cumin lamb burger was a delight. Crunchy outside, packed with cumin and well cooked lamb, and the yogurt reminded me of a mango lassi. And it all works! The place is not big, so you will need to try your luck getting a table, but it’s pretty popular with the students around the area. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely be back!
The biangbiang noddles are awesome but not recommend the rice noodle. biangbiang noodles are Tasty and delicious. also dumplings are nice as well
This place was much smaller than I thought but we were lucky to snatch a table for ourselves. It's a favourite of students and Chinese who crave for hand pulled noodles.
To start I got their spicy cumin lamb burger, a nice toasty pita that snaps when you take a bite. The lamb was nicely seasoned with cumin but for my preference I'd like it to be fattier so you get more bursts of flavour.
I also got their BiangBiang, one of their speciality dishes. A quick mix of ingredients and spices (I mixed in half at first in case I die from the chilli) and I take a bite into it. These were some damn chewy noodles and I say that in the best way possible, they were so satisfyingly nice to bite into. Paired with some stewed beef cubes and you're set for a mouth numbing experience.
Left full (those bowls were huge), the west are always generous with their portions and the noodles are unique to the Shaanxi region. I hope to see more restaurants pop up serving different types of Chinese cuisine (there's 8 Chinese cuisines in total, some hugely underrepresented). If you hadn't noticed, I do love my noodles and this is a must if you love them thick and chewy like I do!
I am ADDICTED to this place. I'm Chinese Muslim and from Malaysia, and the food here never fails to satisfy. I always order their Dolan Spicy Beef Noodles (but instead of the default Biang Biang noodles, I ask to swap with long handpulled noodles). Beef is juicy and tender, noodles are perfectly springy and chewy. And $13 for THAT portion size? I could eat it every day!!! Their dumplings are alright and their fried rice lacks flavour but their noodles are sooo perfect. 10/10 would recommend
Surprisingly authentic northwest/Xi’an cuisine. Love their lamb dishes and noodles. I believe many people from northwest China would come to this place to have a taste of home.
The best authentic Xian cuisines! Love their beef bao and oh my goodness, their pungent spicy beef noodle is my favourite of all time! Service was quick, location is very secluded but it’s kinda nice so we dont have to line up to eat!
Good place for noodles.
The Chinese burger is not good and the meat is cold only the outside bread is warmed.
Noodles were tasted similar to the noodles when I tasted in China before.
The noodles dishes were hugeeee.
I suggest two people order one main noodles and one small dish if you are not very hungry.
This place is TINY, we walked in at around 7pm and had to queue to order and after that stood around waiting for a free table. But it was worth it. The rainy winter weather called for hand-made noodles. They took a while to come out but it was nice. The price is reasonable for how much you get in the bowl. The noodles were chewy and the soup was just right, not too salty. And I were full and satisfied afterward. The wontons were nice too. Definitely recommend trying this place out.
P/s: the photos did not do this place justice
Really tasty and authentic noodle. Reminds me of those that I tried in Xi'an.
Close enough to rmit and unimelb, easy to catch up with friends.
Though its insufficient space makes the shop a bit crowded during lunch break, I didn't wait long for the food to come and the service is not bad.
Overall I recommend this shop and will come back again.
This place is not vegetarian friendly. The chicken noodle is purely salty, with lots of tasteless Sichuan pepper corn. I can even do better at home than this. I ordered the E8 the vegetarian noodle for my vegetarian partner, however the staff give me a bowl of noodle with meat mince. I questioned him why there is meat inside. He said this is what you order and left the bowl on my table. I have to bring the bowl back to the casher to explain that all I want is a vegetarian as it says and shows on the menu. Later I heard the chef maybe also the boss yelled at this guy. Then he came back to me if I want to change to a tomato egg noodle. I said ok. Then I heard the chef/boss yelled at him again saying if they want vegetarian I just make one without meat. So the guy came and said: Oh we don't give you tomato and egg noodle...... the rate 3.5 is for the yogurt. The service is 0. The quantity is large, we can only finish less than half of them. When I looked at the menu I thought I would come here to try them all. But now I don't think so.
Ordered the spicy beef soup with hand pulled noodles. It was full of flavour and spices. It contains some herb or spice which actually makes your tongue numb and tingle at the same time. Very strange but in a good way. An hour later and my tongue still feels a bit numb and tingly. I'll come back next time to try the meat bao and lian pi cold noodles. Only negative is that it's tiny inside. No prams.
Edit. Have been back here about 3 times and it’s always busy. One negative is they are cheap and add water to the soy sauce and vinegar. The condiments on the tables. When you use it them they make your food taste watery. We can all tell so stop doing it please. 😂
we have tried the spicy chicken biang biang noodle, dumpling soup, and lamp burger.
the spicy chicken biang biang noodle is really very hot, but delicious.
lamp burger is good too, very juicy.
dumpling soup is ok.
YUM YUM YUM! I really love the handmade biang noodles! Chewy and so good. 🖒🖒
The spicy cumin lamb burger tastes good too. The lamb is tender and full of spice. 😋😋
The only downside is there's limited space so avoid lunchtime if possible.
Cheap and delicious, don't understand why the mark is low. And the service is fine. I have been this place at least 5 times starting from this year
Positive:
Best !!!! Worth for money and tummy. Authentic Chinese North West cuisine
Negative:
Tight space, probably not the ideal place for pram/stroller.
Apart from the place being tiny, the food is delicious. My fav was the dried beef chilli hand pulled noodles, so many flavours going on. We also ordered a lamb noodle soup which isn't my favourite only because I'm not much of a lamb lover.
Chicken dumplings were soooo yum!!you could tell thst they were freshly made and served by ingredients inside and not frozen .Definately recommend it to my friends who works in the cbd and wants a quick lunch.
Full Time Wholesomeness
+4
Got recommended about this place. The food is very good and the portion is over imaginary. We ordered a two people combo but three of us ended up getting overloaded. There were a lamb soup with bread crumbs, biang biang noodles (home made) topped with broth and veggie, and chilli sauce! Together with two appetisers (meat burger with chilli & onion and rice skin salad) and a sida drink. This cuisin is from my hometown, i like its flavor and would say it is quite authentic. Should be a must try for people who are interested in chinese noodle food culture and a bit of a spicy food addiction!
Our usuall place was closed for the day so we took a chance on Chinger and very happy we did! The noodles were perfect and the flavours were complex, interesting, and balanced. I'm excited to go back and try other things on the menu. We picked a couple 'chef's specials' and think that was a good place to start. Pic is of goat dumplings in spicy and sour broth.
The noodles are amazing. The quantity is also very good. Staff is very accommodating
This is the first time I have biang biang noodle, and I have ordered their 3-in-1 biang biang noodle (hot oil + tomato and egg + braised beef).
When the waiter first presented the noodle, the first thing that I noticed was the fragrant aroma of the braised beef, garlic and spices. My first bite of the noodle had a strong, hearty flavour of braised beef elevated by the crushed garlic, and it was able to give me the rollercoaster of flavour every bite. The noodle may look thick, but it was perfectly cooked to give a very pleasant texture, roughly al dente.
However, as braised beef and garlic produced such a strong hearty flavour, they completed overpowered the flavour of tomato and egg. If they want to have this dish to provide more layers and complexity in it s flavour, they might need to rethink how to match them up. Furthermore, this restaurant also have an issue with a lack of complexity and aroma from their chilly paste, which is also seen in many other restaurant.
It will be great if they can solve those two problem, and at which point, they may create a bowl of biang biang noodle that is close to perfection.
Noodles tastes great and portions are promising. The noodles are homemade fresh and the topping are tastes great as well. But the prices has increased 20% these years (price is around 16-18 for a noodle now). Have to scan code to order. Has 50c surcharge on card and no receipt is provided.
