I had a great time at their dinner hotpot buffet. I love how you get individual hotpots with a choice of two different soups. I was pleasantly surprised by the 2 bonus abalone each person could get. The range of items available for the hotpot is huge. You’ll find all the usual suspects plus more. Some of the items aren’t of the best quality, eg seafood, but I’m happy to sacrifice quality for variety in this case. There’s a whole table dedicated to sauces - I couldn’t have asked for more flavour combinations.
The hot food buffet is however very uninteresting and the food is bland and over-cooked. But that’s okay when you’re not really here for that anyway. There’s “all-you-can-eat crayfish” but it tasted so unappetizing I didn’t bother eating more than one. Desserts are insipid, all except for a durian mousse cake which was surprisingly delicious. Thankfully there was also some good fresh fruit.

This is a good place to enjoy a Sichuan/Cantonese style dishes. Although compared to other Chinese restaurant it is a bit pricy, Its luxury decoration and delicious food will definitely make you a different night. I have been to this restaurant couple times and I would say this is one of my recommend Chinese restaurant.
Recommended dish: Shredded Pork with Garlic Source, Fish Fillets in Hot Chilli Oil, Sea Food and Buffet Hot Pot (This is seperate with ordinary dish ordering)
It needs to be mentioned that the Buffet Hot Pot has wide range of food chooses including entree, fried rice, sea food, meat, veggies and deserts.

Came here for the hot pot buffet.

Thought it was okay. There is a selection of hot pre-cooked foods as well as your usual uncooked fare. This was probably the difference between other hot pot buffets that don't typically include hot foods.

The hot pot options was decent, however.. nothing special.

The dessert bar was impressive though and we enjoyed the selection that was offered. (Most of them was yum!)

Would revisit this place if we were in the area but wouldn't make an effort to come here.

Hotpot buffet ($26.80)
⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Hotpot buffet at a reasonable price of $26.80 for weekday lunch/ $29.80 for weekend lunch. It comes with individual choice of up to 2 soup bases, plus 2 pieces of abalone/ beer/ plum juice. The #abalone was a bit tough & flavorless so maybe getting a drink would be a better option. We liked that there was a good variety of items, both cooked and for the hotpot, along with a sauce station, desserts & fruits. The spread also included various dim sum and dumplings and we all liked the #xiaolongbao. There are spicy and non spicy soup options and while they weren’t the most flavorful, it was still enjoyable. The quality of meat was also not the best but decent for the price of this buffet. Overall, would say it’s a good place to go if you’re missing hotpot/ Chinese food without having to make a hole in your wallet!

Very impressed of the selection for buffet AYCE hot pot. I had half Mushroom Soup and half Tasty Soup (which is just a vegetable soup) and added XO paste for extra flavour.
Pricing is a bit steep but service was pretty good.

Well let’s start with don't use google maps to find this place...it is not opposite Zara in the Bourke Street Mall at all!

After locating the restaurant which is actually above Tin Ho Wan we were suprised to walk into a very opulent restaurant with the gold trimmed furniture and comfy seating throughout.

The restaurant was split into the hotpot section and yum cha section. We were here for the 11.30am yum cha session.

We started with the traditional pork buns which were great full of flavour and fluffy too. Along with the pork ribs it was great start.

This was followed by the prawn won tons, a range of dumplings, asian greens, calamari and egg tarts which were all on point and very yummy.

We finished off with the mango pudding which were very little and cute but they did lack the evaporated milk. Despite this, they were the perfect size to end the meal.

For an all you can eat option for just over $30 this was great value. Thanks for the invite.

Yum Cha on a Sunday. We were late so the selection was limited to the basics that everyone loves (prawn toast, dumplings, bbq pork buns etc). Nevertheless, the kitchen was prepared to make some dishes for us (ie. salt & pepper calamari). Pretty good value for money approx $35 p/p. Only downside was that some (not all) of the waiters did not speak English so we had to communicate via others that did. We still can’t find a place that beats David’s in Prahan/Little Collins St but House is up there!

We had the hotpot buffet for dinner. We were seated promptly and the service was great and also friendly. Empty food plates were cleared frequently. There was a variety of soup bases to choose from. Unfortunately they only had 1 soup base per pot so we couldn’t try 2 soups at a time. I like that they have individual pots so people could eat they wanted and it was also more hygienic. The choices of food for the hotpot was good. There was also some cooked food - the spicy soba noodles and sichuan chicken was my favourite. There was also some fruit, cakes and black glutinous rice soup for dessert. The sauce selection was great too. The only problem was that people were unhygienic and inconsiderate - I saw people take cooked food, drop it on the table then put it back onto the board. I also saw kids putting the tongs used to take dessert in their mouth then put it back into the dessert. A staff member needs to be around to watch these things for hygiene purposes. Otherwise 2 hours to enjoy the buffet is plenty of time.

I highly recommend seafood and especially the young tofu dish. I am a seafood lover, i had the best lobster. Actually its funny how i decided to check it out because of the vast difference in rating, but from my very own experience, its worth it as a frequent dining place. Satisfied !!

They had a great variety of food, seafoods such as mussels, clams, cutlass, huge prawns, squids, fish. They also have meat such as lamb, beef, chicken. My favourite cooked dishes are the fried prawn, spicy chicken, clams, crayfish, egg tart, mocha cake, strawberry cake, especially mango pudding which were picked out quickly.
These are all good with great service: plates were changed frequently. Anyways, it's really worth it. I’ll go again.

Just went there for a team lunch, wow!!! The food and service were beyond my expectation for a $25.8 buffet. Hot pot soup was nice and authentic, a lot of choices of the food and dipping sauce to choose from, there were a number complimentary of pre-cooked cold dishes and fresh-cooked hot dishes and asian street food like fried dumpling, spring roles, chickens and noodles... it also provided free dessert, no bad if you don't compare with some fine dinning places. I will definitely go back.

We went there for Yum cha buffet recently. The cost of the Yum cha buffet at $32.80 per head was really good value.

The food was excellent except one or two dishes were cold when they should be warm but this can happen anywhere depending on how a trolley has done its round. We also have to ask for some of the accompanying sauces such as mayonnaise and sweet and sour sauces.

The service was attentive. Empty dishes were removed promptly. Tea pots were filled regularly. Trolleys stopped at our table frequently.

The decor was excellent probably a bit more opulent than other restaurants serving yum cha.

Up the escalators from Tim Ho Wan (don't Google Maps "House of Delight") is a Chinese eatery hidden in plain sight. It has three major offerings, buffet yumcha, buffet hotpot and a la carte. We went for their early session of hotpot buffet which was from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, of course I'd recommend that everyone rocks up on time because time is food in your belly!

The space itself is divided into the buffet section and down the back is the a la carte. The place looks luxurious for hot pot in Melbourne from the lobby right down to the dining areas.

When seated we were offered some complimentary plum juice as well as scallops for our hotpot (we had to scan some QR code). We then chose our soup base, all individually as we got our own little pots to cook in. I got the mushroom soup as to not kill myself with spices. While they were preparing our soup base we equally went to prepare our table. Although I didn't get to sample everything the produce available was amazing, seafood you had sliced abalone, crab, baby squid, razor clams, prawns and more. Meats ranged from sliced lamb and pork belly to offal such as liver and congealed blood.

Then there was the huge sauce station with over 20 items to choose from all part of the buffet. They have some suggested sauce combinations (in Chinese) but I made my own whacky concoction which was pretty darn spicy.

There was also a small selection of cooked items available to snack on if you wanted something to snack on or you just want variance. I enjoyed the crunchy squid legs and spicy pig ears, I know some people were going crazy for the tiny crayfish in Sichuan sauce but the effort to meat ratio just wasn't worth it.

There's not much to comment on the food other than the produce looked fresh and tasted fresh. A few items were frozen or pre-cooked but nothing to to put a red strikethrough. The hot pot items were always topped up, our plates were frequently changed and our soup base was continually topped up to keep it from getting too salty. The mushroom soup was more of a base soup which I didn't mind as I dunked my food into the sauce anyway. A couple of people struggled on our table with the spicier soup bases haha. Our table was a bit tight on space but we managed by sharing plates. The only enemy of this place is time, you come here for the business of eating so time management is key! I didn't get to try everything I wanted to because I had to help my friend finish his plate of food (he loaded up way too much what a damn rookie). Last thing you'd want to do is waste food.

Pretty much in the last 10 minutes I squeezed in as much desserts and fruit as I could, it was quite a sight. The desserts were cycling in and out often so be sure to make more than one visit.

We dinned for $42.80 which is a July 2018 promotion which is slightly higher than some other hotpot buffet spots within the CBD. I'd say this is several notches above it's competitors in regards to ambience, table service and quality and variety of produce.

Not sure how this venue compares to their Glen Waverley establishment but it does look promising if it's on par.

Went there for their yum Cha and very pleased with the quality, taste and variations. They have selections of dim sum which you don’t usually gets in the city.

If you are after old school skin for the dumplings (I mean the ones that are springy, transparent and doesn’t break apart when lifted) go to this place.

Service wise is good and quick although they have a few staffs looks like they wasn’t sure what they were suppose to do. Gave this disorganised feeling but I don’t care as long as the dim sum is good and I am being served.

In terms of their high chair, although it looks fancy but safety wise is lacking a bit at the harness. I hope they will upgrade the safety feature of the highchair.

Will definitely return and really want to try their a la carte menu.

4.5 Over the years, we’ve become be rather sceptical of All-You-Can-Eat dining offers, as its only natural to prioritise quantity over quality.
Fortunately House of Delight has definitely buckled the trend and puts on an absolutely amazing AYCE Yum Cha experience that undoubtedly delivered in quality. We found that the dumplings on offer were well executed in the most part. Freshly made and steamed, plentiful and delicious. They’ve shown Melbourne how Yum Cha should really be like!

Really surprised me positively in the standard of buffet food. It's good for those who want to try hot pot and also have a mixture of other chinese dishes. I really like the decor of the place is large and grand like what you see in china. I would take my friends who have not experienced hot pot to Delight as it doesn't seem as daunting as other hotpot places.

House of Delight is now in the area that Shanghai Dynasty used to be, right in the heart of Melbourne’s China town on little Bourke Street. I’m a huge fan of Melbourne Asian food, particularly Chinese food – and in a highly competitive Melbourne restaurant district, House of Delight will certainly be a tough one to beat. With high quality and range of traditional a la carte Chinese cuisine, to a delicious range of Cantonese-styled yum cha options – which they also offer a lunchtime buffet for, I wouldn’t hesitate coming back here for an authentic Chinese meal with family or friends.

Great yumcha place! We certainly ate a lot of food. Besides their fried food is a bit cold, everything else is superb. No trolley skipped our table, and service is attentative, filled our tea a few times throughout the meal. Highlights are the stired fried pipis, durian crisp, spiced black fungus. Something a bit different from other yumchas. For the price, it's certainly well worth it. We usually end up spending about $60-70 for two in yum cha anyway, you get more variety in buffet style. Glad that I decided to give this place a go, not disapointed, will be back.

I am extremely impressed with the food and service of House of Delight. It was my first time booking a group dinner in the private room for a birthday last weekend. The room was booked a week prior for a group of 14 people. Upon arrival, the restaurant was slowly becoming filled as it was a Saturday evening. I was shown to the private room towards the back on the left. The private room was beautifully decorated and cosy, fitted with its own toilet. The table was set for 14 but an arrival of an extra few guests was accommodated to by the kind waitress who looked after us for the duration of our stay. Service was prompt and efficient. Food was delicious. There is not a single fault in the service or food. I could not recommend this restaurant enough. Definitely worth a visit.
