Really crunchy even when we got it home 20mins later. We just got the original flavour. My only suggestion for improvement is that they don’t give any kimchi as a free side and it would be nice with some kimchi! Also half of the flavourings such as wasabi, honey butter and cheese was unavailable when we went to order!

Crunchy and delicious boneless chicken, I especially loved the numbing mala sauce similiar to the chinese version. We also ordered the onion and pelicana loaded fries it was good to have different toppings especially with chicken skin. Will be back to order again soon and support this local business.

😱Lizzie’s first impression: better than most Korean Fried chicken stores, delicious menu but tight seating space.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I love that they have so many different flavours that you can choose from - think wasabi, soy sauce, honey garlic and sweet chilli. The chicken is deep fried fresh and is crunchy but chicken is tender.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: unfortunately I would have rated it a 5 had they not brought us with mushy and soft tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes) - however the taste was great and instant noodles was cooked al dente and should be credited.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: a great place but just needs more seating to cater for bigger groups!

Came here with the 40% deal. It was very worth it. The best flavour is their special pelicana sauce. The cheese one was decent.

Beef Bulgogi Rice Box $5 🍛 (Ordered via EatClub).

Comes with beef bulgogi, kimchi & salad + rice. Generous / decent portion of beef bulgogi in proportion to the rice. Overall, I enjoyed the meal - probably would come back & try other dishes.

Love the chicken. Freshly fried and made. I always keep on coming back to get them cause its cheap and delicious. However, recently they’ve always had their spicy sauces sold out. Bummed out by this but when they have it, they have the best spicy sauces in CBD that has a kick to it. Also itd be great if they could fix up their air conditioning. It would be unbearable on hotter days.

The girl serving us was excellent. Very friendly and ready to answer my questions. It was a quiet day when my friend and I went (Thursday). I ordered the 1/2 chicken snowing cheese and it came with 2 different types of coleslaw and daikon! Was not expecting that. The meal was filling and delicious, very good portion size. Would have loved if the bigger pieces of chicken had snow cheese all over. Might order the wingettes next time. The chicken stayed crispy the whole time (I'm a slow eater). My friend's kimchi soup tasted very nice, and smelled wonderful as well. Very flavourful and just the teensiest bit of spice. Lots of veg and some tofu in the soup so it's like a light meal. Walking in, the area for eating is smaller than I imagined, but since there were only 2 other people eating inside, it was enough room.

I am addicted to fried chicken. When I heard that Korea’s largest restaurant chain, Pelicana, was coming to Melbourne, I knew I had to visit.

They have over 2000 establishments in South Korea, China, Malaysia and America. Pelicana marinates the chickens for 48 hours, then divide it into...

This place is a great value for money, the servings are very generous and you can choose so many different sauces. Our group of 8 had chicken wingettes and drummettes. The chicken is juicy and mostly crunchy but it was definitely worth the price we paid!

I'm so happy to have been introduced to Korean Fried Chicken, as I think it's way tastier than the American KFC that I grew up with. Pelicana is a Korean chain chicken joint that recently arrived in Melbourne, so I was keen to try it out. In a small arcade on Franklin St, it is a small space and a little dark; but what it lacks in atmosphere is made up by the food. There are large barrel tables and comfy chairs, but it is a little pokey. A few beers in though and you don't really care.

The chicken comes in half or whole bird serves, and bone in or boneless. There is a large range of flavours, and we chose boneless pieces in original marinated and spicy chilli.

Service was great and the staff are really helpful in explaining the menu. It was a short wait before our deliciously crispy chicken arrived. The flavour was outstanding. So many spices are used, and the spicy version was seriously hot. The dipping sauce helped to cool it down, but I quite enjoy a bit of spice. The chicken itself still remains moist and tender despite the seriously crunchy coating. This really is finger licking good.

We also chose to try the kimchi pancake which was one huge pancake filled with the sharp kimchi. It was seriously addictive, particularly when dipped in the accompanying sweet sauce. I really enjoyed this savoury, thin pancake; and it's texture was fabulous.

Pelicana is well worth seeking out for a different spin on fried chicken, and lovers of spice will really love this place. The juicy and spicy chicken and great service will see us returning time and time again.

One of my favorite Korean fried chicken place in Melbourne. The service is actually pretty good. They are very friendly, polite and honest. They would tell you if you are ordering a little bit too much. I like the original flavour ones for the fried chicken. You could add or choose the sauce. Price is slightly cheaper compare with other Korean fried chicken in Melbourne. Been ordering and coming to this place few times now. Highly recommended to give it ago

Pelicana is a famous Korean fried chicken chain with stores all around the world, and it’s finally landed in Melbourne!

The store is tucked away along Franklin St - but it’s hidden location just makes it even more of an exciting adventure. The venue is small and cosy, with circular wooden tables and stools which create a really cool atmosphere.

We were so lucky to be able to try new menu items - japchae, kimchi pancake, army stew - as well as their famous fried chicken. The chicken is available in 11 different flavours (yep, that’s right!), and the hardest part is choosing which ones to get. In the end, we went for the Pelicana Marinated, Wasabi, Hot Smoky Chilli and White Cheese Dusting.

First up was the chicken - it came out on a big tray with plenty of coleslaw in the middle. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside, and coated with plenty of sauce. Each flavour was delicious, but my favourites have to be the White Cheese Dusting and the Pelicana Marinated!

The japchae was amazing too. It was sweet and salty, with plenty of veggies and chewy noodles.

The army stew was brought out when all the ingredients, and then boiling water would be poured in. It was definitely a sight! The stew was very hearty, warming, and just the right level of spice too.

We had such an awesome time at Pelicana filled with food, friends and fun. I would recommend going in a group so you can try more food!

Thank you so much for having us!

Pelicana may be a fried chicken shop but their vegetarian options are great. I loved the crispy mandu, which are quite large and served with a nice, sweet dipping sauce. The tteok bokki is another must-try vegetarian option, featuring rice cakes and noodles in a rich tomato broth. Just be sure to ask for it without fish cake! For something slightly lighter, the kimchi stew is really nice with a moderate level of spice. It pairs incredibly well with the superfood salad, which includes avocado, olives, apples, quinoa, goat cheese and greens - not exactly traditionally Korean, but a delicious combo nonetheless. The drink selection includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, of which I tried the latter. The corn tea is great if you don't want something sweet. Otherwise, I highly recommend you try the morning rice (sweet rice milk similar to horchata). This spot gets busy at lunch time (for good reason) so be sure to get in early or after the rush!

Ambience:
Good korean music vibes going but very small restaurant space; something that cant be helped but just to keep in mind, might be difficult for large groups.

Service:
Slightly lacking, service felt very fake, effortless and a bit sarcastic.

Food:
KFC - Quite good, the spice is quite intense for anyone who can’t handle their spice
Tteokbokki - Very spicy but yummy, would like if it were a bit thicker but overall very delicious with generous noodles and rice cake
Loaded fries (Bulgogi) - yummy but chips were low quality and not well cooked, lacked crispiness but the bulgogi beef was very good.

Overall I would return but only with the 30% off eatclub discount.

We were kindly invited to Pelicana to try their food. The restaurant is nice and cosy and the staff are friendly. After we ordered we were given a small bowl of deep fried chicken skin to snack on before our meal arrived. What a great touch! It was delicious!
We ordered a half serve of the fried chicken with bone and with Pelicana sauce. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sauce was perfectly balanced - savoury, a little sweet and a little spicy. I loved that they gave us gloves to wear to eat them so that we didn’t dirty our fingers. We also ordered the budae jjigae which is the Korean army stew. It was a perfect size for 2 or 3 people to share. The stew was really thick and spicy and packed with loads of ingredients. Perfect for a cold day.
We also ordered the seafood pancake. I loved the dipping sauce that came with it. The pancake on its own was a little bland but was otherwise crispy.
Thank you Pelicana Chicken for the delicious feed. I will definitely come back and try your other dishes!

I’ve been a fan of the fried chicken craze that has grown from Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) so was excited to be invited into Pelicana Chicken tucked away in a laneway just off Franklin Street in the CBD. Pelicana Chicken has over 2000 locations across South Korea and are open in a number of locations around the world but this is their first in Australia.

Their menu offers bone and boneless fried chicken with a huge variety of sauces to go with that crunchy coating.

We tried a half serve chicken serve of original with bones in ( am I the only person who prefers to eat chicken off the bone). We also tried a half serve of boneless with soy sauce and half serve of their signature sauce. I loved their signature sauce which was quite complex with elements of sweet and a mild heat. The soy sauce chicken was a sweet honey soy with a slight spicy heat to it.

For sides we ordered a serve of Kimslaw, and the Kim Chi Soup along with a seriously garlicky and saucy loaded fries... perhaps a little too garlicky for my tastes. Drinks wise there were plenty of beer options including locals and the more exotic but I was keen to try some of the korean soft drinks and fell in love with the ultra sweet Milkis soft drink.

Fried chicken is prepared fresh to order so expect to wait around 20 minutes for food to arrive. That said the service really impressed tonight and although invited in we didn’t see anyone else waiting too long for their food to arrive either.

Thanks so much for having us in.

3.5/5

I visited Pelicana Chicken which is an international KFC chain at their first Australian store.

My partner and I ordered some boneless wasabi chicken which was very nice but unfortunately for me it was a bit too dry.

We also order a half quarter serving of some original KFC boneless chicken which was delicious, w a crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Yummo

Then it was time for a quarter serving of some spicy KFC w green chillies ... phew lol and they were really good but the sauce was a bit too thick and sweet for me, especially the more I ate.

You’ve gotta try loaded fries right? So we had ordered some garlic and cheese loaded fries and they were great whilst they were hot.

The serves are quite big so I’d suggest that you order as up go. Thank you for having me.

Came here because there’s a liven promo and i think the chicken is not that bad. Price worth with the food. Actually, i paid around $26 for 2 people’s dishes but i think if you’re 3 person, its more than enough. I just want to give them a suggestion by increasing the size of the chicken because mostly all the chicken is bone. But, the sauce here is perfect. Recommended for budget Korean chicken.

They tasted so much better when we ordered through ubereats.

Their wasabi dusting kfc is the best. I usually like the kfc that has alot sauce covering the chicken but this is amazing without being too dry.

Their pelicana sauce chicken is a must try too!

Space is pretty crampy to actually enjoy there.

Bonus point for super friendly staffs too.

OMG Pelicana in Melbourne finally! I was in tears.
Pelicana (As well as Mexican) is the traditional old-school fried chicken style based in 90s and 00s.
These guys got the flavour, sauce and the style perfect! Exact masterpiece from its original home.
If you are not sure "original fried (plain like original recipe except crispy)" and "marinated (sweet slight chilly sauce - personally my favourite)" is the traditional go-to. try these half and half for extra $2.
I also ordered wasabi one as well today. very nice and creamy with slight hint of wasabi.
You may notice chips are less brown (although freshly fried and beautifully crisp) and not salty, this is old school Korean style. If you prefer more Aussie style ask them earlier on to brown them more with more salt on it.
I am almost scared to put this review, because people will start pouring in! Well done Pelicana!

Come for the food, not the service. Took 30 mins for them to serve our chicken or our beer. BUT! Best Korean Fried Chicken I’ve ever tasted.

Tried four flavours:
Soy - Amazing! (10/10)
Smoky Chilli - Amazing! (9/10)
Garlic - pretty good (7.5/10)
Pelicana - pretty good (7.5/10)

I love Korean fried chicken, and this is a nice place to have it.

The restaurant is small, only enough room to fit about 15 people seated inside and more seating outside. There wasn’t much ambience, and felt more like a take away type of restaurant rather than a dine in one.

The fried chicken itself was crispy. The chicken inside wasn’t dry but it was super juicy either. Some of the fried chicken flavours I got to try were really nice and some weren’t too good. The original flavour and soy sauce were my favourite, and very flavoursome. I wasn’t a massive fan of the cheese or wasabi flavoured chicken, just not the kind of flavour for my taste buds. The tteokbokki was tasty, with a good amount of heat.
The loaded fries were nice & full of toppings.

My group & I did wait a while to be seated because it was so busy. The waiters were polite when we could get their attention, but it was a little bit difficult due to how busy the restaurant was (and the hype around it)

For the Korean Fried Chicken lover, this is a place to die for.

My favourite is the original. Because this KFC is so damn crunchy, I do not need sauce to enjoy this at all. However, you can add sauce on the side, or go for their other flavours as well.

Their most fav is the Pelicana Marinated. However, sadly its out of stock. I am not sure why but it has been out of stock for some time. This is probably they only thing I dislike from this place. Their best selling is out of stock most of the time.. so sad rite?

Other than this. Definately my go to KFC.
Give it a go and let me know what you think!

I have tried heaps of Korean Fried Chicken but nothing like 'Pelicana Chicken' the famous chicken place makes an appearance from Korea. I was really impressed! The chicken was well cooked, the batter was wasn't too thick and it was nice and moist. The signature pelicana sauce a huge stand out! I'll be back Pelicana! ***Disclaimer: although the restaurant has generously invited me to their restaurant this review is still based on my genuine opinion.

Pelicana would come in my top 3 fried chicken places of Melbourne at the moment.
So i got the 6 wings with Hot Smoky Chilly as my sauce which as per the menu is level 1 spicy and holy moly, it was so damn spicy ( and i am a regular spicy food eater). But i did complete my way through al the six wings.
And even with the sauce on the outer layer was crispy enough.
I am planning to come back to Pelicana to try their hottest sauce sometime soon.

I have already visited this GEM of a fried chicken place three times since it has opened, and it has not disappointed so far! Chicken is crunchy and delicious, service is friendly and it is the small touches like the bucket with the gloves and wet wipes and freebie water while you wait that make it a really easy, chilled place. Great if you want somewhere nice for Friday chicken and beer or to grab on the go!!!! Will be back!!! My fav - original and soy/garlic combo ❤️

To satisfy our Korean fried chicken cravings, we had decided to try out Pelicana Chicken.

We had ordered the wasabi dressing and hot smoky chili (half and half) flavors! The best part about the fried chicken was the non oiliness which made it very enjoyable to eat! The wasabi dressing on the fried chicken was great as it gave a mild spicy kick to it! The hot smoky chili was also good with a different sort of spicy kick - this is good for those who can’t take too much chili!

We had also ordered tteok bokki or in other words traditional rice cakes stir fried mixed with vegetables, fish cake and Korean style sauce! The rice cakes were chewy and soft and the hot sauce had added a spicy flavorful kick to this! I would recommend eating this during a cold day!

Overall, we had a fun time at Pelicana Chicken and would visit again to try their other fried chicken flavors!

Had a chance to visit this Korean fried chicken place that is tucked away inside this walk-way on Franklin street.
We had the full chicken with 1/2 Hot smoky chilli 1/2 Wasabi dusting along with a bowl of Garden salad with Korean dressing and Tteokbokki (Korean rice cake).
The fried chicken looks golden and fried to perfection, the chicken itself were still nice and juicy with just the right amount of coating sauce or dusting.
Pelicana also hold this chicken challenge of finishing 2.2kg boneless chicken in 15 minutes at the time we were there which were fun to watch and there were so much fried chicken, probably be the most I’ve seen in my life.
Definitely give this place a go when you’re in the city!

Their fried chicken was so good! It had the perfect light & crispy batter on the outside & it was SO juicy on the inside!! I throughly enjoyed the chicken.

This has become my go-to guilty pleasure Korean Fried Chicken. Some of their sauces are pretty spicy without being too sweet - delicious! Only reason for marking down a star is their pick-up is really hit-and-miss. Sometimes the app works great, but most of the time you have to guess it'll be ready with it sometimes the food's been hanging around for a while or it's not ready. Otherwise, service has always been good and the chicken and sides are great.

This place is fricking amazing! I’ve ordered from them countless times with no issues, I’ve had the chance to dine in recently. The staff were very friendly and the food was simply delicious. My mouth is watering thinking about it. I recommend trying out the special Pelicana sauce chickens! Their tteokbokki is my all time go to. Can’t wait to order from here again. My only issue was the amount of mess in the dining area. Even though it wasn’t busy the tables and chairs weren’t packed up and cleaned and they stayed like that for a while. Regardless I’m glad the staff paid extra attention to us, making sure we were satisfied with the service.
