Loved it here! Will definitely be coming back! I’ve always wanted to come here based on friends who’ve told me about it. Despite waiting an extra 20 minutes for my table, the food did its justice! The waiter who served me was very kind and offered to do the cooking, as well as recommending portions as it was my first time. Would highly recommend for you to come if you don’t mind doing a bit of damage to your wallet and love eating meat!

Fantastic dinner place! Absolutely enjoyed every bite I had in the restaurant. The kingfish appetiser were really fresh; the M9 short ribs were incredibly tender and juicy! The wagyu beef don bowl was incredibly tasty; the rice was cooked to perfection as well. If you’re big on truffle you will LOVE the truffle rice too. Will defs come again!

Been to this CBD location several times and very happy about the service, environment and the food overall. The dishes are nice both in taste and presentation, especially the deserts! Also recommend the M9+ oyster blade, which is super tender and just melts in your mouth.
High quality Wagyu meat, a little bit pricey but worthy. Will come back and try other dishes on the menu with a more formal dressing.
One of the best Japanese bbq place in Australia. I live in Sydney and this one I really love it. It worth flying down to Melbourne to try this place. Love the staff that were helping us. Love his professionalism, passion and energy. Great atmosphere, definitely will visit again when flying to Melbourne.
If I could give Niku Ou 6/5 stars i would! Absolutely amazing! This restaurant confirmed that Japanese is my favourite cuisine - big statement I know!
🍽 beef tataki - best tataki I have ever had. Meat sliced so thinly it just melts in the mouth. Loved the ponzu dressing. Delicious! Aburi wagyu nigiri - this was absolutely divine. Over far too quickly. I’d ordered many more if my bank account allowed it! Ox tongue steak - have never had ox tongue before. Was chewier than other meats however the flavour was very good. I’m now an ox tongue lover! M9 oyster blade - so juicy, so tender and damn delicious. Overall, wonderful experience and food.

Had a great time dining here. Quaaaality food, drinks through dessert. The oyster blade, truffle garlic rice and the buri carpaccio warranted a fair few mmm's. It's also worthwhile to try their rice wine cocktails. Great service and ambience. Looking forward to come back another time to try their fish and sushi.
The beef tongue was sooooo good oh my god juicy and crispy .but the boiled vegetables were just fine. It's literally water plus veggies lol. The dessert was amazing as well!!！！0 so fresh and tummy😃😃

Pros: all meats were of high quality. We went from m7 to the higher quality meats to compare and it was a satifying experience as you could actually taste the difference of the different qualities of wagyu. Sashmi was fresh but the highlight for seafood was the scallops! So so succulent. Cocktails were really nice also, my favourite being the Red Shiso Ume (tasted like candy).
Cons: the sashimi did not come with pickled ginger, we had to ask for it. Some tables were not spaced out as much, we were sitting a bit close to other tables.
We walked past this place and thought let give it a short. The restaurant was full, we had to wait for a little, however their team kept us companied and updated during our wait to make sure that we were find waiting. We got to our table not long later, we had no idea with the menu here, so we went along with the waiter’s recommendation. It turned to be one of the best meals we had for the year. Staffs were friendly and attentive which made the experience to another level. It was a little pricey but sure worth the money that we paid.
Third time here so far, we had a great time with family here, food standard is always up high, staffs are attentive and friendly. Highly recommended and will sure do our 4th visit soon.

Top quality Japanese food. Restaurant a bit small however the couches give you the cosy feel. Polite and friendly staff, quick service. Expect to pay for what you get.
Very fresh even it is not cheap but worth it! The waygu is fresh and must try the sashimi, the 🦐 sashimi is amazing! Love it! The only thing is they request finish a round within 90 mins (looks not that busy on Friday night and we order a bottle of wine so they extend 30 mins for us).

Very expensive but very good quality food. Average 220dollars/PP. Wagyu is real wagyu from Japan, however many of others serving fake wagyu. Only bad thing is the staff taking my phone call was very rude, has no proper manner of talking. Anyway this doesn't affect my love to this restaurant

Great experience, had a great time there, and A5 wayu was excellent. However, the limited M10+ was sold out, will check with them before going there next time. Price was acceptable for a decent dinner, had only A5 until full with a dish of rice, cost $140 per person.
Run out of uchi and M10 on Saturday lunch. Bit disappointed. Had M9 and M7 and salmon sashimi. All pretty good. You can tell the difference between M9and M7. The uchi Wagyu sushi is my first time experience. Very special,but not outstanding.
Exceptionally good meat and other dishes prepared with skill and creativity. Beautiful textures and flavours in all the dishes we tried. I really like this place but it is not a cheap night out. It is worth the extra though if you are looking for something special. Great place to bring a date for a romantic dinner.
So happy to be here and had a great dinner after work. Always love the wagyu and so surprised got half bottle of hibiki.Friendly staffs are all around.Highly recommend if you are big fan with Waygu.

Very high quality beef that melts in your mouth! The food was cooked right in front of you and the waiter is very knowledgeable about the types of meat and how long to cook them for. Definitely a place to try if you like to try some good quality beef

The rice was so good we got 3 servings. The meat is on par with the price and I would definitely be back for more (esp the rice). The service could be improved, because I think it took a while for waiters to notice your needs, but otherwise a nice place for Japanese bbq at high quality.
#BMAfavourites 🤤 Niku Ou sister restaurant to Wagyu Ya boasts a modern and sleek interior, which is fitting for one of the only establishments in Melbourne serving up the highest grade beef - true A5 wagyu that will melt in your mouth, and leave you wanting more! Pair it with a foie gras truffle rice (I could probably have this dish 4 times over) and this is a splurge meal worth every cent!
The Wagyu quality is definitely above what's out there, excellent marbling and high grades beef. M9+ Chuck Roll Slice is a must try! The only thing is prepare to pay premium if you want to eat full.
WOW amazing selection of wagyu meat, everything we had was delicious. The A5 mixture was brilliant. Service was great, friendly and knew what they were talking about. Best BBQ meat in Melbourne. Can’t wait to go back.

Niku Ou is the sister branch for Wagyu-Ya. If you’ve never been to any of these branches, you’re missing out! I mean their both very similar to each other but I like the atmosphere of Wagyu-ya a lot better. Niku Ou is famous for their meats. Their meats are probably one of the best quality in Melbourne.
We came here for my birthday dinner and you definitely need a booking for this place cause it’s packed even on a weekday! I’m not the hugest fan of the seating area. It’s very clammed. I was seated near the entrance where if I stood up, the person next to me had to move their chair in for me to get out which I find so inconvenient. Anyways, the menu is very very similar to Wagyu-Ya or it could be the same. We ordered salmon belly sashimi which was delicious. It was fresh and melt in your mouth worthy. It had such a tender texture and perfect for an entree dish.
We ordered a foi gras fried rice because it was recommended to us and everyone said it was amazing but tbh, it was quite average. It was very fragrant, creamy and slightly oily. I wouldn’t say it’s worth the price because it’s super expensive.
The meats were delicious as always. The only thing I didn’t like was they put so much pepper on the meat which kind of overkilled the meat for me. Definitely try out their Hida beef, it’s sooooo good and flavoursome. It was definitely my favourite of the night. It’s expensive but very much worth it. Tbh, all the meats were good quality so you can’t go wrong with any of them. You can choose between different grade and the higher the grade the more juicier and tender the meat. I also love the oyster blade as well!
Also, for my birthday they arranged for a little complimentary creme brûlée for me which was so sweet, thank you so much :)
Overall, delicious dinner and I highly reccommend this place if you want good quality Japanese BBQ meat and dishes. Its quite hefty but I really do think it’s worth it and on par with some Japanese BBQ in Japan.

The staff here are welcoming, attentive and inquisitive. We were unsure what to order but with their support we enjoyed a delicious meal. We tried the truffle rice and it is definitely a must try.
The drinks are also delicious I had the lychee ice tea.
Will definitely try again, hoping I get more time as it was allocated timing.
It’s the best Japanese BBQ in Melbourne. They have the best Japanese beef for BBQ, for sashimi and sushi. Nice and polite service, will defiantly visit again.

We had a rice bowl foie gras dish that blew our mind. Apart from that mind shattering dish, the buttery and melt-in-your-mouth dream that these beef pieces had once they were cooked was an unreal dream.
Niku Ou is lot more fancier than your typical kbbq because the quality of meat is incredible. Notably, the small detail of labeling of the meat was a great help. We actually knew what we were eating for once!!
Service was great. They take their time to cook the meat, and for the 4 of us they were happy to portion the food out. Interior is very intimate, with each seating in it's own little section.
Would rate for a close celebratory meal, or a fancy date night!
The sashimi is so fresh, Niku Ou and Wagyu Ya have the best sashimi I’ve tasted in Melbourne so far. All the beef we ordered were very tender and immediately melt in mouth once you start to chew them. Will love to comeback here again.
My absolute favourite restaurant in Melbourne, the food is AMAZING. The wagyu yukke is simply stunning and the chirashi don is one of the best I’ve ever had. The rice is seasoned to perfection, the wasabi isn’t that made from the powdered paste and the seafood is fresh!
Amazing quality and reasonable price. Highly recommend M7 chunk roll and A5 Wagyu. Worth the money. A5 wagyu were amazing. Would definitely go again for A5.
