They made great coffee. But the Shop is closed down now. The place has now re-opened as Viet Soul. Never tried food there. But it had the best Chicken Schnitzel sandwich in town
Monday lunch. Staff were welcoming. Beef Ragu Penne was hearty. Reminiscent of a homemade dish just like my grandmother would make. It didn't seem like a big serve but it was the perfect amount. A nice quiet place to escape the lunch rush.
This place is hidden away from the hustle bustle of Melbourne CBD. It's located in a quiet corner on flinders lane. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Nice place
To have coffee catch up in the morning. Breakfast was decent and reasonably priced.
Great cosy cafe for the cooler months. Quality food and friendly service. The Threefold burger and more recently the open steak sandwich were delish. Highly recommended giving it a go.
Being a Sydney-ite originally, I can't help but think of things in the context of home. Threefold would fit very well into The Rocks or Darlinghurst; they serve food that is a cross between what you would expect at an old school bar or upmarket cafe. Nothing offensive or risque but all very good quality and locally sourced.
The Good Food Guide has this place pegged as a destination for a working lunch, with main meals that have French leanings. There are ample home made cakes, tarts and pastries on display. A few rich and hearty salads (not fussy eater friendly), toasties, sandwiches and home made pies.
I ordered a tomato salami toastie with mustard and even though it came on very white bread (the bane of my life) it was still very good. Senor Gringo ordered a steak sandwich with relish and a side of green beans and salad (coated in butter and therefore off limits to the likes of me).
Good but not really what I seek in a lunch venue.
It was the perfect place to stumble upon on the way home after an overnight at work. The gorgeous window for passers by is the main signifier that there's a venue inside, which proves adorable from all angles. Despite being a bit squishy, the excellent soundtrack and relaxed staff make for a lovely atmosphere, just right for being wrapped up with a newspaper watching the rain outside. The staff were incredible to observe, it seemed they had plenty of regulars all who you could mistake for personal friends of each of the staff. Despite this, service to the table seemed a bit slow, and empty dishes were left on the table (that had barely enough room for them) for a bit of a time. The gluten free house made toast felt like it'd been freshly baked in a cottage that housed rocking chairs and tulips, and the house made preserves served in a jar proved to further the notion. The house blend of chai was a sensory experience, served at the perfect temperature which only further complimented the balance of sweet and spice. I'm eagerly awaiting a return trip (even just for chai and toast), but definitive conclusions about the service have yet to be made.
Favourite. I adore Threefold.. I think it might even be my favourite spot in Melbourne! The coffee is excellent and the lunch items are so much more than your average cafe. Great sandwiches and salads (better off the menu than the ones pre-made.. apart from potato which is awesome) that change frequently. Takeaway mini breakfast rolls are a fave aswell. Food is a touch on the expensive side but worth it.
Some people say the staff are rude but I don't agree. Most are quite nice and bubbly, just not in your face like a lot of places these days.
Highly recommend!
Been here a few times now when over for work from Adelaide. Coffee excellent as is service. menu items interesting and good quality - well priced accordingly
Great toasties. The toasties here are awesome & so is the coffee. The girls on the floor are super cute & helpful. Thoroughly enjoy this place.
This place should be awesome, the food is fresh, varied, high quality and delicious. The downside is the service is woeful. They are friendly but in a daze & don't appreciate the concept that people have set lunch times. Its at the higher end in price & the staff drag this place down. Fix the service and I'd be back in a heart beat (please)!!!!
Great CBD cafe. Had lunch at Threefold the other day & it was just great!
The food was sublime & the coffee so good I had to have another one.
Will definitely be back.
Nice vibe, nice food, worth a visit. I tried Threefold for the first time a couple of days ago, and really enjoyed it. Very friendly, laid back service. It's evident that there's great care and pride taken with the food, and coffee, and real integrity to the place.
I got the impression it's a place run by people who care more about the quality of their produce & coffee, than they care about their profit margins.
Had a friendly vibe, and I'd definitely head back next time I'm in that part of the city.
Nice environment, and a good deal of care seems to be taken with the food preparation and concept, resulting in some very tasty breakfast options. I do question the choice of slabs of "farmhouse" bacon with no option for regular strip bacon, though - it's not going to be to everybody's taste. Great coffee, too, and friendly, unpretentious service.
Threefold is situated in a cozy nook in a lesser known part of Flinders Lane. They serve great breakfasts and lunch and even take home dinner.
Melbourne came good with a tasty business lunch at a little corner shop in the CBD by the name of Three Fold which was turning out duck confit and Reuben sandwiches and venison lasagnes for the office crowd...
The Honey Granola with Poached Pears & Vanilla-Infused Organic Yogurt ($8.00) was absolutely amazing and to die for. Coming from an all only-bacon-and-eggs-breakfast kinda girl, you best believe me when I say this is good.
