Kristy (Kids For Dinner)

I’ve been wanting to visit this venue for sometime now and we finally made it in for lunch on a Saturday. The first thing I noticed was how much seating there was and that there were other families eating too. It’s a very casual venue and you need to order at the til.
The owner Paul and his staff member working were both very friendly! We sat outside in the spacious courtyard, where kids could quite easily stretch their legs and not be on top of the table next to yours. We were told the Italian Classic Double is the most popular, but opted to try the Clayton Classic (and Double) this visit. We ordered bacon & egg sandwich for the kids.
Despite a queue before us, our meals were prompt. The steak was tender and delicious! Even Esther enjoyed eating some. Every element in the sanga was delicious! This place is definitely worth checking out. We will be returning soon to try their Italian Sausage!
Can guarantee you'll never eat a steak sandwich like this in your life, this is on another level! Been eating here for years and cannot fault them at all. Yum!!
Friendly service. The steak sandwiches are tasty and good portions. Highly recommended and definitely will be back!
Simple menu, simple food, great food always

Been coming here since before it had a name or any signage at all. They've always made the most delicious steak and Italian sausage rolls I've ever had. They even make they're own chilli oil. The rolls are fresh bread rolls and they come with steak/sausage, egg, salad, roast capsicum and salami. With or without chilli. They taste amazing and they only miss out on the 5 stars because the prices have gone up quite a lot and it's not value for money like it used to be. Definitely worth the visit.
Seriously great tasting steak sandwich’s. Definitely try the sausage with the steak it’s a winning combo and don’t forget to add the house made chilli sauce to your order it’s straight up quality.
This was highly recommended from a friend so we decided to try it out ! The steak sandwich was sensational! Loved the homemade chilli sauce too . Shame they don’t do hot chips
After reading rave reviews of this unassuming little joint tucked into a back road away from the Clayton shopping strip, I felt that I had to give it a shot and was not disappointed. My order was the steak classic with the lot.
Admittedly, the place doesn't look like much at first glance, but the food more than made up for it; the steak was juicy, the salami, cheese and egg all added to a delightful combination of flavour and the peppers added a little zing to the roll that kept it interesting. Service was great and staff were plenty friendly - my only complaint, if any, is that the bread roll itself felt a little dry and noticeably detracted from the rest of the meal.
Is it the best steak roll you'll have in your life? Maybe, but probably not. But at $11 for a very filling meal, it makes a great lunchtime pickup and sharply contrasts most of the food available in Clayton, and for that reason it feels worth writing home about.
I'd give 4.5 but it seems that I can't! So, 4 it is. Thanks for the food guys!

Came across this place on Instagram decided to visit for some dinner. Most amazing steaks in all of Melbourne. Really juicy meat, everything is cooked fresh. There is a wide range to choose from and everything is made in front of you. The staff is extremely friendly also be sure to visit this place if your in Clayton!
Best steak sandwiches ever! Period. Old school goodness! Owners are really nice as well!
A true hidden gem! Meat is perfectly tender, flavours are completely balanced as well.
A hidden gem in the area. This place serves steak banh mis for $11 each which is such a steal. The steak was cooked perfectly and was well complemented by the other ingredients. The place was quite empty which was sad to see and the service was a bit unenthusiastic. However the food was as good as a steak sandwich gets.
Finally got around to trying out this place after seeing so many mouth watering pictures on instagram. And it did not disappoint I just ordered the Clayton classic and it was perfect in every way sorta reminded me of a good fish n chip shop steak sandwich but way better. All up costed $11 which I thought was a good price and only had to wait about 4 minutes and it really filled me up was definitely worth the drive out to Clayton and will be going back for sure.
I think my husband could eat here every day. He gets the sausage sandwich and i get the steak. Its very filling and it's a cheap meal. Dine in house to keep it fresh
Hands down the best steak sandwich in Melbourne. I don’t know how they do it but it is a flavour sensation. Thin but juicy steaks packed with flavour. This place is so underrated!!!!
Best steak sandwich around Melbourne. Great friendly staff, big venue with plenty of seating and the the food here is AMAZING.
@forheavenssteaks
Top notch rolls!! just the place i've been looking for. I will definately be coming back to try the other rolls on the menu. I had the Italian sausage with chilly and it was sensational!
Massive steak sandwiches/roll. I got a double and it was very filling. It got a bit soggy towards the second half of it because of all the juices and fillings but definitely worth your penny.
Just tried these steak sandwiches for the first time. Yum!! Bought one for my hubby and son as well. Im a fussy meat eater and rarely have steak sandwiches because of that. I liked that the meat was not too thick and cooked medium so nice and tender and took up the whole length of the roll. I was pleasantly surprised and my guys liked them too. Good opening hours, fast and friendly service. Will definitely go back again.
Old school spot that suprisingly opens until midnight every night given the locality. They serve up some hefty steak sandwiches with a lot of extras thrown in. The peppers and salami give it a little heat, fried eggs to give it some extra body and a toasted bread to hold it all together. The tender steak itself (singular) was a bit lost in all the commotion so I suggest you grab yourself a double.
I didn't really browse the menu properly before I visited but you can add all these extra ingredients such as bacon, prosciutto and artichoke. They even do milkshakes!
Just a solid spot for some comfort food.
I wanted to keep this as my secret go to…but too late. I love places that only do one thing, but do it well - You're here for the steak sandwich, it comes with lettuce, tomato, egg, salami, assiago cheese and chilli paste. To ask for anything like pineapple or sauce is just being a stronzo. (Though I did tried it with artichoke, it's good). Add a milkshake and I am transported back to the espresso bars of my youth.
Sick Sick Sick
I’ve been told that equates to “amazing”
Well
Just smashed (devoured) 2 rolls with the lot.
Simply irresistible
Yum yum yum
Need I say more
It’s a must try!!!!!

Reasonably priced for what is expected.
Great steak sandwiches. Anytime you need a quick bite, this is perfect.
Recommend the double meat. Been here several times and always leave happy.
Unreal, best sandwich in Melbourne. Very clean, quick service and terrific price point, plus the food is fresh and tasty as hell, will be coming again.
Best steak sandwich I've ever had! Under $10 and it took less than 5 minutes to arrive at the table. The salami and capsicum makes this a stand out experience!
The best steak sandwich in the neighborhood hands down! It's a seriously loaded steak and they don't skimp on the fresh salad that goes into the sub.

Fast and friendly service !
Tried the single Italian sausage and the double steak rolls. Pricing is middle ground similar to a burger. Italian sausage is the pick of the bunch while I must say the steak was soft and of good quality no sinue fat! Eat in to avoid the roll going soggy from all the juices. Some options for sides would be great too
The steak sandwiches here are unbelievable, the steak is melt in your mouth, size is generous and rolls are crusty on the outside and soft on the inside (as every roll should be!). Customer service is spot on! Great find!
My work team rally every Friday afternoon for a family lunch and we are old hat in the Clayton,/Westall,/Mount Waverley/Syndal area. When I discovered "FHS" on Zomato and the fact that it had been around for years I felt like a chump.
Anyway, this joint became first cab off the rank this week and boy oh boy what a complete work lunch. Fresh AF, tasty, super convenient and serious value. The Italian Double is dead set incredible.
Well done guys, this will be a monthly venture for the team!
Found out about this place from a mate who's been coming since he was young with his family! Newly rebranded he showed us!
Great little spot, cheap and delicious for the price!
An old school feel to the place due to it being there for over a decade!
I got a Clayton classic steak sandwich ($9) the first time I went there! With a tender scotch fillet with roasted peppers, lettuce, tomato, cheese, chilli, egg & salami. (Suggest the Double steak ($14) if you got a bigger appetite)
It was great little spot for cheap and healthy meal!

Never ever fails to impress! Best place for a hearty steak sanga with all the trimmings! Staff are lovely to chat to and they work incredibly hard, Signage and name have been updated which are catchy and clever and the new colour is awesome! Love the place!!
High steaks. The wilds of Westall / South Clayton are not exactly where many people would find themselves on a sunny Saturday morning. But for those who do, there's a great food payoff from this unexpected treasure - as well as Marciano's Cakes a few doors up.
The non-descript sports bar has been pumping out huge steak or sausage buns for years, but it's only since a rebrand with large photo advertising that it's had wider attention. For $9 you get a toasted french style roll with either steak or good Italian sausage, plus a fried egg, bacon, fried onions, fresh tomato, heaps of crisp lettuce and slivers of grilled red peppers - the kind that comes in a big jar which you find on an antipasto platter. For $14, you get double meat, for people who might find the steaks on the slender side.
I like that there's both plenty of protein and vegies in this treat which is very big on size and taste - these guys really know what they are doing, focusing on a small but strong repetoire. You can with eat in, as l did, or take away - l saw at least 3 people walk away with bags full of these sensational sandwiches in about 20 minutes - at 11.30 in the morning. FHS is open long hours everyday and I'm told by my Dad who brought me here that there can be lines out the door and 30 minutes waits just to order.
Other things to know - it's all about the food not the ambience or decor, unless you find aluminium tables and chairs with Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali & Lionel Messi posters important. Plus these steak babies are messy to eat so you want to be among friends. You'll also be with a wide range of other patrons, which is another thing l love about FHS - migrant families, construction workers in high-vis gear, groups of older Italian & Greek men who hang out here for the chit chat over a drink from the bar, where you order your lunch /dinner, which is then brought out to you.
So go walk on the Westall wild side - before all the new houses are built on the former Sigma Pharmaceuticals warehouse site nearby. Come early, come often.
The "wog bar" as its know to all the locals around clayton! It has been around for years; and it's never failed to deliver! This is the first time I've been since it's changed it name "for heaven's steaks"; and it still didn't disappoint! The steak was cooked to perfection; just melted in your mouth! The bread was fresh as well as the salads! It also comes with egg... Pretty standard steak sanga you say? No way! They add these Amazing fresh roasted peppers and a beautiful salami and you have a classic Italian steak sandwich! Absolutely to die for! The 'wog bar' as it'll be forever know as will always deliver a steak from heaven!!! Great work!
The only place to get an Italian (US style) sandwich in Melbourne. The sausage is amazing and the cold meats is great, just make sure you get prosciutto and mozzarella. Great value as well.
Real old-school joint, in the best way possible. Good people, nice open space. But that doesn't matter - the food is incredible.
You don't expect much from a steak sandwich, and what you get isn't fancy - just simple good ingredients that play off each other so decicously well, and are cooked just right.
I was full and wanted another right away.
Sensational Steak Sandwiches! Quality ingredients, and so well priced. I've been coming here for years and it's never faulted in quality. Love how easy and casual it is.
We tried this place for the first time and were quite surprise. Good place, quick, friendly staff and non greezy sandwich. Taste like home sandwich :)
No fuss , no pomp or ceremony here , just steak sandwiches in a few formats , or the open plate that I prefer , when I need that meaty hit !!! Roasted peppers , and chilli sauce ,wholesome and pure to compliment your steak or sausage rolls or the many combinations available !!
Signage that reads “Coffee Lounge Entertainment” doesn’t exactly advertise the fact a place serves up a remarkably good steak sanga. They’ve been serving this sensational steak roll at the location for well over a decade, but who knew? Thankfully this surreptitious spot has now been reborn as For Heaven’s Steaks and the installation of bright signage on the shopfront will make it a lot easier to locate.
Easily the best steak roll you’ll find in the South East! This joint just used to make them on the side causally until it became so popular they changed their name and started pumping them out daily. Highly recommend the steak or sausage with the lot, extra chilli! Seriously delicious, you’ll leave very satisfied.
Steak sandwiches were amazing!! The steak was soft and tender. My partner and I also ordered a milkshake and the gentleman was kind enough to give us the extra milkshake in a separate cup as well. I would highly recommend a visit here!
Exactly what you're looking for. Home style steak sand which's that is fairly cheap, non pretentious and just damn tasty good food. Prefer the steak sandwich over the sausage version but going to go back and try the cold meats ones. Fantastic little places
If you're looking for an absolute gem then look no further! This place has the best reputation for a reason. The Italian double with a little chilli is a go to favourite for me and if you're on the hungry side you may even go a second steak sandwich.
Along with amazing steak sandwiches they also have a range of their own chilli oil that you can buy and take home.
Can't praise this place anymore!
Great food and fair price for what you get.
The food was tasty, but not mind blowing. I had high expectations based on the reviews! The sandwiches felt a bit dry and underseasoned. However, after adding the chilli oil they tasted much better. The chilli oil is flavourful and great.
I would probably prefer to take away to dine in. Nonetheless, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
I went in after a long day for the Italian Double, and by the gods it was amazing. Large serve, tons of meat and filling, just an all round great roll. I'm not normally a steak sandwich/roll kinda guy, but I'll definitely be back if I'm in the neighbourhood!
Hands down some of the best steak sandwiches in Melbourne,
I highly recommend getting the Italian classic double with the house chilli.
Portion sizes are great and the taste is consistently great, don't be afraid to dig in and get messy you won't regret it.
Best bacon and egg roll I've ever had by far... Have to include the roasted peppers and the chilli of course... Took the family with me to try their menu and no one left a scrap... Love this place.
