Review Meat In The Middle - Melbourne

Ali Abdo
The gyros meat was very nice and tender. The double cheeseburger meat was nice, but I think cooked for a touch too long. And felt it needed more sauce. Super fries were great though. Full of flavor and solid serving size. Beef brisket on top was cooked nicely. Staff were great and very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Worth checking out.

First time trying out this place and we are pleasantly surprised. The food is delicious and the price is very affordable. We had the Hellenic Snack Pack (HSP) and their Double Or Nothing burger. The fries in the HSP is crispy and the lamb is very tender and flavourlful. The DON burger is HUGE and comes with maple syrup glazed bacon which perfectly complements the saltiness. The bacon is fried very well and is crispy and tasty. The onion rings in the burger are also tasty, crispy and not oily despite being fried. The burger patty is good, too. The staff are very friendly and will help you with suggestions if it's your first time there. UPDATE: Went back for another visit and had their Souvlaki and it is superb. I had The Spartan while my wife had Just Meat. Both were juicy and seasoned very well. We also ordered the Crispy Fries with Jalapeno Aioli and it was one of the best fries we've ever had.

I had the trio of sliders and the mini doughnuts.. Burgers 2/10 the beef ones were cooked blue! The chicken one was average at best. Dessert 9/10 absolutely beatufil Greek doughnuts with nuttela and lemon curd injections on the side. Price 5/10 Atmosphere 4/10 no space and poor seats Service 4/10 English was quite poor.. If not for the amazing loukamades would have got 1 star.

I come here every so often to have lunch. Nice food and friendly staff but it gets a little cold inside. Other than that, great selection of food and the meat is always tasty!
Anita Harris
Almost always delicious. Absolutely delicious. But beware the very rare (pun intended) occasions where they're down to the end of the meat. Gristle is no fun. Thankfully it's usually fabulous.

I was exited to see real lamb turning, but it had no taste? Plus the "wrap" was very lose and wasn't filled properly. The wings were Just boring... unless you must have a meat fix, better to pop in one of the Malaysian places

Best burger place in Glen Waverley area. The service is little bit slow but you will not be disappointed in the end.

Burgers tasted amazing and were really good size. Will definitely be back again.

This place is nice and VERY accommodating. We came in with a group of 15 and they were very nice and let us take our time in ordering. So, thank you VERY much.
The chips here are good, meat is good, salad is good. I love the menu options.
The only reason this is not a 5/5 is just down to personal preference. I just don’t like meat all that much :/ but I can appreciate this place a lot and see why others would.
Would recommend and would come again.

Ordered The Ellina, a Pulled Pork burger and a Greek salad.

Food: 4/5. Slaw and pulled pork in the burger tasted great, but the balance was slightly off, with the sauce dominating a little too much (others will really like the though). The souvlaki was awesome, with char-grilled lamb and pork. Only thing would be that the chips' (naturally in most souvs) soggy texture detracted a little bit from the awesome sauce and pita.
Atmosphere and service: 4.5/5. Nothing really to fault here, just thought the place itself felt a little cramped.

Ordered the spartan in and open platter. I felt the pork was dry. The tzatziki was tangy. The feta salad was refreshing. It had all the elements of a good dish however the pork was the let down.

the restaurant is a little small but there’s more seating outside.
We ordered the gym pack with extra pita bread and Tzatziki.
The food tasted nice however I don’t think there was enough meat in the meal.

Grant Sheridan

Nice , juicy and tasty. Tried their both chicken and cheese burger. Quite impressed with both. All prepared fresh without waiting long. The girl at the counter and the boy who served us did an amazing job even though we turned up at the last minute.

Ordered The Battle of Troy platter, serve of crispy fries and The Spartan. The battle of Troy platter consisted of a mix of char grilled lamb, chicken and pork gyro, greek salad, crispy fries, 2 beef patties and maple bacon, warm pita and tzatziki. The platter was delicious, this could feed more than 2 people, the meats were delicious, the greek salad was fresh and delicious, crispy fries were seasoned well and crispy, beef patties were yum, maple bacon was delicious, pita and tzatziki was fresh and delicious. Couldn't fault the platter at all, this was top notch food. The Sparten had char grilled lamb, lettuce, tomato, fresh onion, feta cheese with tzatziki in a warm pita. This was also delicious. Friend of mine said this place was average however I think this place is quite good. Love this place

I dropped in to Meat in the Middle right on closing time on Sunday evening, and the choice was limited to a Souv. No problem! the lamb was still on the spit over coals and looked and smelled delicious.
The team were at the end of a long day but were friendly, smiling and happy to chat as they prepared the BEST SOUV I have ever tasted. The Spartan had a bit of feta and fresh onion which gives it a bit of bite and a bit of smooth, sweet flavour along with fresh salad and lashings of perfectly char-roasted lamb. In a combo with crispy hot chips and a drink for under twenty bucks it was an absolute win. Well done to the team for finding a smile and for making up a souv that was beyond my expectations. I will be back!

I thought the lady was just having a bad day, rude and sharp but it would appear from some reviews every day is a bad day. Foodwise, Brisket burger was great, pulled pork however was cold- not ‘re-heated’ properly! - and not pulled porked but rather cold fillet of pork!

Went because of Scoopon voucher. The staff didn’t seem to know about it, and we were almost not able to use it because the manager wasn’t there who has the scanning machine. Fortunately they allow us to use it after we recommended to take picture of our voucher and scan later. Their burgers look amazing. The fried chicken burger was really good. I had the pulled beef burger but it was rather bland for me, although beef was cooked well and very tender. It probably need some sauce. Chips were pretty good too.
Wintice
I had a Scoopon and as I had it loaded up on the phone, the staff sees it and I believe I heard her mutter "Oh God". I'm not 100% certain, so my rating for this place excludes this incident, otherwise it'll be lower for the customer service.
The burger was nice and big, bun had good texture. Onion rings was crispy and not soggy at all. They didn't ask/give me any sauce though even though the voucher states that it's included.

Just have to say OMG!!! as a coeliac, i can’t eat souvlaki but Meat in the Middle changed my life!!!!

i have been here a few times now and i am happy every time! literally have never tasted anything so good! they have gluten free pitta that actually holds together extremely well and not to mention how good the meat was inside!!!! they make absolutely amazing souvlaki’s and if you are gluten free/coeliac then this is the place to be, no need to miss out anymore!!! i had the spartan, with lamb!

staff are super friendly and can answer any questions really well! :)

Worst service I've ever gotten. After waiting 30 minutes in the quite shop, we finally received our food. My order and my friends order where somehow both done incorrectly, i ordered lamb and received a chicken sova, i took the plates to the counter, where then didn't apologize for the mistakes. After another 10 mins of waiting, i received a burnt, dry lamb sova which was the worst souvlaki i have ever eaten.

NEVER going back again, worst customer service and quality for price i've gotten in Victoria.

Good value Scoopon. Souvlaki was nicely charred, plenty of meat, thick , soft pita, nice sauces. Lamb was quite chunky, which was a little hard to bite through. Good qty of fries & onion rings, though onion rings were a little oily. Quick service.
Lynne Nguyen
So so, maybe it was unexpectedly busy Friday dinner time so quality dropped.
Souvlaki was decent, lamb cooked okay, could have been more chargrilled.
If you want burgers, head down the road to yomg or mocha Jo's burger bar. The meat tasted like smelly sausage and the bacon was super rubbery.

Took a trip to Meat in the Middle with some work friends, the menu it seemed promising. Service here was ok, the staff is quite friendly. It’s pretty spacious and there is lots of free parking.

The food here just wasn’t the best, given there is a lot of competition on that strip in Kingsway I was expecting a bit more. We ordered The Battle of Troy, The Chairman, The Spartan and Cheek-to-cheek with extra bacon. The Cheek-to-cheek was too salty, dry and hard to eat. The other dishes were very average. In terms of portion size the food was quite big.

Over all just wasn’t up to standard.

Service was great, fast and the meat was cooked nicely. Salad was also good, affordable price, came in a good portion for a group of 2-3 ppl. Worth going!

My partner and I always get a Spartan (open platter) and it is delicious. Haven't tried anything else on the menu the many times we've been there because it's a staple, tried and true. Recently we got two Spartans takeaway and they were very generous serves. One of my favourite local Greek restaurants!
Kath's Food Indulgences
Great burgers (my dad in particular said it was the best burgers he has ever had! - specifically for his tastes of course)

Chips were crispy and nicely salted too!
Grant Sheridan
Had heard about "The Battle of Troy" so a mate and I decided to try it after a gym workout.
It didn't disappoint. There was a generous serve of meat with chicken and lamb. It also included a salad, chips and bread.
Really tasty and enough for the two of us.

9/10 burger job

Where is that half rating Zomato

The Sinatra 9/10 $15.00 ... yeap, they did it their way with pork crackles ... 5/10 $6.00 onion rings delicious but too oily.
Wholesome 9/10 the $16.00 the Chairman perfectly cooked med-rare porterhouse ... plus 8/10 $5.50 crispy chips.

Go and experience this burger job. JT-18/05/2018.

Always love coming here. Great staff, amazing food and good price for what you get as well!
Onion rings with the yuzu dipping sauce are some of the best i've tasted.

Actual Rating : 3.5

The place seemed to be fairly busy when i entered after 6pm on a Friday night and it kept getting busier. The charcoal grilled Souva smelled amazing but I opted for the safe option of going for the Cheek-To-Cheek burger with Chips & Drink as part of the Scoopon Deal i had come across. In hindsight i should have stuck to the Souva, as apart from me only one person seems to have ordered a burger while i was there, all the other orders were for their Souva. The lady taking the orders seemed to be disinterested in her job as she never smiled at any customers but was efficient at taking orders. It took almost 15-20 mins for my order to be ready. Coming to the burger it was fairly well cooked and had an OK taste but my issue was with the overall presentation and how it was packed. It seemed like it was just thrown in a rush as the filling was coming out of the burger. The chips were pretty tiny in size but it was still good value for money as part of the Scoopon Deal. Parking is plenty near the place but finding one can be quite tricky during the weekends. Card payment is accepted at the place as well.
Food_diaries
The bun was very sweet and tasty but the patties along with the other fillings were very salty to my taste. Inside the shop was quite cold and they did not have any heaters so we literally ran to the car as soon as we finished taking the last bite!

I really like the vibe of this place and wanted to try the food out. I bought the Spartan and their spicy chicken ribs and I did not regret my decision. Their spicy chicken ribs has to be one of the softest and juiciest ribs you’ll have. It compliments nicely with their spicy mayo sauce. I’ve gone back multiple times just for their spicy chicken ribs. The Spartan has been pretty good too, very filling, fresh meat.
The staff were friendly, place is quite busy and the location is quite convenient, I will recommend this place.

We came on the $7 burger (or $12 burger combo) Scoopon vouchers. Had the Sinatra and the Double or Nothing. Definitely a great value Scoopon and tasty meal! They definitely gave us the real deal and didn’t skimp on anything because we were on a voucher, the patties were huge and the Double or Nothing had 2 patties. If we had to order again, probably would go with the Double or Nothing and skip the Sinatra as the beef patty was more flavoursome and you got two for the same price as the single patty burgers. The toppings on the burgers were well thought out -maple bacon (great maple flavour), cracking was crunchy and not soggy at all even though it was smothered in sauce inside the burger and the onion rings were also a thick cut of freshly battered onion.

Our only negative was that we found the meat patty quite dense. The beef patty (double or nothing) and the pork and beef mix patty for the Sinatra felt like it was binded with a lot of flour or something because you could not really taste the texture of the meat inside (the little squiggle worm-shape of ground mince was missing). Instead, the texture was kind of like what I imagine putting beef into a blender would come out as. The patty was also heavily seasoned with (what we tasted) carrot, onion, fennel and Greek seasoning (oregano?). This may not be everyone’s taste but we found it quite nice and different to the standard patties we have had and the Greek theme is consistent with this being a Greek souvlaki + burger place.

Would definitely come back again and try their souvlaki! When I saw the guy shave the gyro meat into the pita wrap it looked juicy and very generous 👌
K.jones
burgers were practically raw. when i told staff they said thats how they are suppose to be... will not be returning if thats how they cook their burgers lol
FoodieMan
The souvlakis are pretty good but the girls behind the bar taking the orders are so unfriendly. The $15 minimum on eftpos is also questionable.
Vivian
Great place to eat on Kingsway. I love getting the souvlaki on a open platter , it makes it so huge and great to share with another person. The meat was quite tender and I love how they give you alot of salad and chips
Whenfoodsonpoint
Love this place, always has good food. Usually grab a burger but have also tried the 300 platter which is fantastic! It’s also right in the heart of Glen Waverley on Kingsway which is a banging location!
Lauren
The portions are so big!!!! The meat is always so great as well I always ask for our pork to be place to one side and they always put it in a separate container purely because I don’t like pork. Always such friendly staff! Will forever return!
Zomatofoodguide
This is as good as it gets. Greek food is on the top of our list. Try their soulvaki and you would certainly forget all their kebab shops. We tried the 300 it was as good as gets. A little expensive but worth all the money. Great on the taste buds and serving was really nice. Try this place out.

I headed here for a dinner with a friend the other day.

🍳 • F O O D • 🍹

I had ordered the the spartan- platter with a combination of chicken/lamb/pork accompanied by salad and Tzatziki sauce. My friend ordered the Old School burger. The platter was amazing. I recommend getting that over a souvlaki. I’d also recommend any meat lover to get this. It's so incredibly filling, flavorful and definitely worth the price. The meat is really well seasoned and cooked and the pits bread and salad add a balance to the dish. It's one of my favorite dishes ever!

My friend ordered the burger and she we quite satisfied. However for the quality v/s quantity ratio, I recommend it could be better.

A must-try dish for me was the :

🌟 Open Platter - The Spartan

👍🏻 • R E C O M M E N D A T I O N • 👎🏻

The staff are and always nice when I visit. It’s one of my go-to places. Highly recommend trying this one out !

When you have a restaurant with the word 'meat' embedded in it, it immediately sets the expectation that you'll end up with meat sweat. And this place actually delivers on this expectation. We had The Battle of Troy (meat platter) consisting of lamb, chicken and pork gyros. I have noticed pork gyros slowly appearing on the menu especially in the more authentic Greek establishments or at least Greek-influeced. It did bring back memories of my last trip there. Taste-wise it was pretty damn good. The accompanying bread was toasty and warm. Chips were crispy. However at times, I did find some pieces of undercooked meat. All in all, it was really good value for money.

Food was great, service was good but pleaseeee if the owners are reading this.. please change the seating! Hard small metal chairs aren't comfortable and the edging of the accutal tables digs into your arms when you're trying to rest them on the table as well. Just really uncomfortable. I understand the 'theme' and 'look' but your business could really benefit from a nicer dining experrince. Rating a 5 because everything else was great and I don't think my opinion about seating should effect their reviews 😁✌
Daniel
The chicken was tad too salty for my liking, but the salad was good. There was substantial food on the open platter, so definitely worth the price.
Charlie Daniels (Curious Charlie)
I'm amazed we have Deliveroo at the end of the line O.o from Meat in the Middle we ordered... + $5 for delivery (reasonable). . The Spartan Platter (Chicken w Tzatziki $2) $17 + Feta Fries $6.50. The total was $27 delivered ($22 for platter and chips), though the fries were huge! And the platter serves two. Fries were a hint soggy, pita a bit hard in the middle but other than that it was alright.
ChockLIT
This place is definitely one of the hidden gems in the busy Glen Waverley food scene on Kingsway.

The vibe of the place is very laid back- not for a restauranteer looking for a dining experience more so a place for a catch up with friends.

Big juicy burgers and massive souvs headline the menu. I would heavily suggest the "Cheek to Cheek" burger as the sweet apple coleslaw perfectly balanced the spicy aioli with crispy chicken.

Be wary though order yourself a side of feta fries because we made the mistake of assuming the burgers came with it!

Overall, top notch food!
FoodFoodFood
Was really happy with the Delicious seasoning used on the souvlaki meat. Cool casual vibe, friendly service and great food. Could not complain. Will be back.
James Chiu
Been here a few times and i must say i am pretty happy with the quality. The only thing that has perhaps stopped me from going here more often is the competition around.

Burgers, chicken wings, feta chips, saganaki are my favorites.

Not a fan of the souvalaki. Nothing special and its just not worth it.
Thebeardedone
Went expecting decent burgers, and left amazed. Wife and I shared a battle of Troy, and were blown away by the tender and flavorsome cuts of
Meat. The chips are wonderfully crunchy. Wife used the pita bread to make a chip, salad, lamb souvlaki wrap. Brilliant. Boy attacked a double or nothing burger which was almost too much for him. Staff are great, decor is cool, music was exclusively Bon Jovi.
ask to see the secret menu :)
Ray
Really good place for a souvlaki in Glen Waverley. the service was good, quite busy and the restaurant is a bit small so finding a table can be a bit hard. The food was a bit pricy compared to other places the souvlaki was a bit small for the price but the chips was a huge serving. The food was tasty and the meat was really nice, the feta chips was the stand out though.
Jude D'Souza
Great decor with a variety of menu items focusing on burgers. However the burgers themselves were original because of the different meat mixes they were using instead of the standard beef. It gives a different, but for me I prefer the standard beef.
Stephanie Papazois
Ordered the chicken platter, came out not too long after ordering at the counter. Nicely presented, and the sides were all really tasty, especially the chips, they were delicious but wasn't really a big fan of the meat. The skin on the chicken wasn't crispy and so was a bit chewy to eat. And could have done with a bit more seasoning.
TweeVy Ngo
Their lamb gyros is tasty and has a good radio of lean and fatty chunks. Their salads are large and is very generous in size. Definitely a good place if you need an iron and protein fix from kebab meats.
Espy Eats
The modern stylish interior or relaxed outdoor dining are your options at Meat in the Middle. The menu appealed and was both traditional and had some fusion and modern twists on the familiar greek gyros. I went down the traditional path ordering The Spartan in wrap form rather than open. It came out in a reasonable time with oodles of feta and tasty tzarziki. Choices were pork, lamb or chicken and I went for lamb because I ❤️🐑. Meat was coated in a herb rub and was plentiful. I liked the sound of the Asian pork and slaw gyro so something for another time. Some great sides as well but I had enough for lunch with just the Spartan.
Willtravelforfood17
Souvlakis are delicious and generous with filling. Salads are fresh and fetta chips are yummy. Problem is that this place is always packed!! I would love to go back and try more stuff.
Renegade
This place should be called RUBBER in the middle because that's what the meat was like in this so called souvlaki. My souvlaki was made up of Bland tough meat in large fatty clumps wrapped in a cold pita. Worst meal I have had I a while. Even after their second attempt the souvlaki was the same. They must source their meat from bob Jane. Do not recommend.
Jessica N
I love the open platter souvlaki and chips. In all honesty it's pretty simple, but done well 😋. Wish there were more inside seats! The meat platter is amazing if you're super hungry!
KLLYXNG
Tried the Cheek to cheek burger, sinatra with fries and onion rings.
The sides were good, crisp, delicious and wasn't lacking in seasoning.
Thoroughly enjoyed the chicken burger as I thought their sauce was different to your usual -'sriracha mayo' trend that's going around at the moment. Sinatra burger was also bang on, juicy and everything worked well together.
Nicholas Ball
Got the Troy which is a plate of meat and chips for a two. Meat very dry and stiff, chips were decent. The salad the came on the side was ok but it tasted like it prepared hours ago and had gone soggy.
Hien Pham
Mediocre at best. We saw the instagram posts of their meat platters and drove an hour to eat it.
Very small interior. Very much like a take away shop and the food was average.
Notevenpicky
It's not the best, sometimes it's better than others but overall for the price, portions , taste, is not worth. I know this is Greek style but you might as well go get a hsp or drive down to Oakleigh for some good Greek food.
Mathew Hnoudis
Fast service and even faster turn around of food. I had the spartan, open plate with mixed meat. I would have liked some more chicken but overall meat was very tasty. Tzatziki was nice and had a hint of mint or dill which was a nice touch.
Salad was fresh and tasty.
Feta chips are a must!
Melbourne Food Journey
I am glad my taste buds had the pleasure of experiencing the combination of NUTELLA + FRIES.
Seriously good pricing for such great portions, we went for The Spartan open platter and The Sinatra Burger.
Alma Klepo
Saw the rave about how good your sharing boards were on instagram so i thought id give it a try. The staff were very friendly and service was good. I drove 1 hour expecting to fulfil my meaty cravings but the food was average i guess. There are limited seats inside which is disappointing and the greek salad had mayo in it so i wasnt very fond of that. The food looked like it was just thrown on. I guess i would have given a higher review if there was a little more effort in presentation, more choice of meat, better salads and a better dinning experience.
Eating With Ebony
Yesterday went here with a friend. Was craving meat so bad so we got the battle of Troy. Been to ionio before for there meat platter but this is soo much better and for half the price. The chips were amazing and the meat was nice and tender. So tasty 😊
Emmanuel Foundoulakis
Me and my partner ordered a platter to share and have to say we were pleasantly suprised with the portion given to us. We couldnt finish the platter between us so we were able to get a take away container

The meat was flavoursome and juicy but there were a few pieces of meat that were overcooked, the feta chips were nice and crispy and the tatziki sauce wasnt a let down, the only thing i had a problem with was the greek salad. My father regularly makes a greek salad as he is from Greece and you can tell when eating the salad here that it has been in the fridge for a while, if they would make the salads fresh once they receive the order i would have no complaint.

Overall the meal was great, full of flavour and will meet anyones cravings
Bryna Puan
Great food great ambience! The feta chips is a must!!! However the food took a while to come out and the service wasn't exceptional. Andddd im just typing extra to get the word counts up to 140.
Dan.louey
This was absolutely the WORST souvlaki ever!!! The meat was fat and gristly. I should have known when I saw the couple sitting next to me who'd left their meal half uneaten.
Jennitals
LIT!: incredible food but I absolutely love the Battle of Troy. It's probably one of the healthier dishes in glen if you can resist to urge to feast on the chips. It feeds 2 👍

NOT SO LIT: n/a. Thanks for having us!
Cookielessvee
Good service and a pay first before you take a seat.
For the price you pay, the servings are quite generous. Crispy chips lightly dusted with salt and well battered onion rings. The burger was average but we'll presented.
Kat_Eats_Mel
Service 3/5 The service is average. You order at the counter and grab a table.

Food 3.5/5 We ordered the Battle of Troy and even though on the menu it says ideal for 2 people, the serving size more suited 3 ppl. It was huge! The mixed meats were good especially the lamb - well seasoned and not dry at all. Chips were amazing. But the only let down was the pita bread, it was not fresh (tasted like it was leftovers from the day before) we came right on opening time so maybe they wanted to get rid of the left over pita bread who knows.. but it was not fresh light and fluffy.

Ok place but had better.
Simone
Great souvlaki here, we tried the meat and chicken as well as the burgers. The presentation of the food was very pleasing. If you're craving for Greek food definitely come to Meat in the Middle, it's a cute place with good food.
Mandy W
Tried The Spartan when here. It's okay I guess. Nothing too great there. Not sure if I'll be back there again. There are a number of restaurants in the area. May try others.
Bob
If you want a burger dont bother. Overpriced, small in size and tasteless. Served on a small paddle, which is handy because it makes it easier to slide right into the bin. If in doubt just go to YOMG down the road. Much better serving size for the same price.
Sabrina Ip
Good fresh and tasty burger with juicy patty and hot chips, but a bit cold for meat in open platter souvlaki. Self service and satisfactory waiting time for food. Reasonably priced. Recommended for quick bite before movie. Just around the corner of cinema.

Taste: ****
Service:***
Environment:***
Price:***
Hunger Pains
If I was to come again I would try one of the burgers. The souvlaki were terrible. On the plus side it's a nice looking place and the service was really fast. But the fact that they were the only joint on Kingsway with more than half their tables available speaks for its self.
Akg88
Zero customer service. They yell at you because the music is too loud.
Want extra chilli flakes that's $2.
Minimum eftpos $15 was forced to buy a meal worked out to be expensive.
Didn't even ask for bun it was hard and tasteless.
Meat way over cooked.
Wouldn't go again.
Pam Emmert
Awesome food service and value. The souvlaki platter is amazing. Great atmosphere and location. Burgers and chips were also great. Juicy meat on beautiful brioche buns. Cant ask for more. Keen for another visit
Cassidy & Sneakers
Cassidy – we ordered The Rat Pack (The Sinatra, Cheek to Cheek and I Did It My Way sliders), feta fries, onion rings and spicy chicken ribs as takeaway. The onion rings were nice and crunchy, probably my favourite part of the meal. The fries I could take them or leave them. In regards to the sliders, I quite liked the Sinatra; the other two weren’t really anything special. I picked up the meal and can say that inside is nice and clean, a little loud, and service was good. All in all, it was ok but I probably wouldn’t make a special trip back here.

Sneakers – Unfortunately Meat in the Middle didn’t quite meet my expectations and that was because I’d read a couple of great reviews beforehand. The feta fries were quite tasty though would probably go better served in a small paper tray. The sliders were pretty good, as were the onion rings. The chicken ribs unfortunately were a disaster. Personally I prefer my chicken to be slightly overcooked so I’m not one to complain about a slight char but these ribs we were served were beyond burnt (as per photo), basically inedible. Now there's charcoal chicken, then there’s CHARCOAL CHICKEN haha!
I haven’t quite decided whether we’ll go back or not.

Cleanliness of the restaurant - 8/10

Cleanliness of plates/cutlery/glasses – n/a

Cleanliness of the menus – n/a

Service - 9/10

Wait time for food - average

Food overall – 6.5/10

Ambience - 6/10

Value for money - 4/10

Poor services and staff
Long waiting time
Food has no charcoal favour and cold
Overall poor performance. Very disappointed. There are plenty of good places to eat nearby.

I came here with a couple of mates and I tried the Sinatra burger which has Pork Crackling and Kebab Meat inside it. Very unique! Pretty tasty too.

If anyone is looking for real souvlakis and platters, then this is the go to place! The battle of troy platter is to die for!! Really fresh and crunchy chips, meat was just so juicy and flavoursome and the pita bread were so soft! You definitely have to pop by this place
T
Details: I think it was because it was the end of the day but I really wasn't happy with the meat tonight.. very chewy and dry.... quite tasteless. However, my brother had the same meat over the weekend and absolutely loved it.... I guess it is hit and miss!

Service: so quick to come out and amazing staff!

Venue: typical cute Greek restaurant!

I don't know what say except whoever decided to put pork crackle on a burger is a genius!! Other than being married to my wife, it's the closest to euphoria I have been. I took a little bite when it was first placed down in front of me and it was like the heavens opened up and the angels sung a sweet tune. I don't think I spoke through the whole burger. I vaguely remember everyone else enjoying their meals but that feels like a dream to far away to bring back. I think I was so wrapped up in my pork crackle on a burger experience that I didn't take notice of my surroundings. It has consumed my thoughts today and no doubt will for a while yet. Thank you for providing an experience that I will drool over for years to come.

Burgers are quite small but extremely filling! However, if you are looking for a burger the size of a Hungry Jack whopper then don't go here! Overall the burgers are good!

First night staying near by at the ibis, i had just arrived late at night when a guy got into the lift with the nicest smelling food. Asked him what it was and he said Souvalaki from meat in the middle up the road.

I went there for 3 out of my 4 nights, and enjoyed everything.
Had 3 different souvalakis, some of the feta fries and the chicken ribs.

All of it was good, and shame I have since returned back to New Zealand. as feel like it again for dinner.

the staff are friendly, and the food is good. dont know if its a good price or not, but seemed what i would expect for something like that.

quick and easy too, even though they were busy, the wait wasnt too long

Nice quick greek food place. Service is self-service and food is good. New menu is good with burgers or gyros to choose from.
would I return - probably yes

standard burger = pretty good, got one with the bourbon sauce which was tangy and nice 3.5/5
standard fries = good and matched well with the burger 3.5/5

Not great. Kebabs were greasy and meat was full of gristle. Onion rings were really disappointing. Service was decent. There's too many other options on Kingsway for me to consider coming back.

Environment is too simple and cold for dine-in at winter night, and they should provide with warm water for a better service. The food is good, meat is juicy.

Not expecting a Greek inspired kebab and burger shop in the middle of glen waverley but I'm not complaining! Good variety and healthier options included - plus their secret menu of big dirty burgers 👏

Huge servings at decent prices, lots of meat. Vibes were good although it was slightly crowded. Parking was terrible, I would recommend this place for many guys to eat at.

Meat in the Middle are an interesting burger / souvlaki combo. We ate the Sinatra burger, the Sammy, onion rings and chips. The onion rings were a bit too oily but chips were fantastic. The Sinatra burger was good, but maybe a bit too much going on - the pork crackling in there was crunchy and weird, I didn't really "get it". And for someone who usually loves a good feast, I found the meal here to be a bit much, to the point where I almost felt a bit uneasy having eaten so much... Definitely go hungry or else just get a burger since the portions are generous.

Greek food is probably up there with one of my favourite cuisines to eat.
Whenever there is a gyros option that is what I'll order, and I was not disappointed when I ordered it from meat in the middle. Very generous servings, the meat was tasty and the chips were delicious as well, will be back to try a burger and the donuts!

Went there with for a simple take away sandwich, but asked for garlic sauce instead of tomato. Got home and found I had been given a different sandwich. Called the shop for a resolution. They were to call back in 10 minutes. 45 minute later I had to call back. They say do you want another sandwich? No, I don't want to go back. No offer of a refund. They have no clue about customer service. Sandwich was mediocre. Not going back.

My boyfriend spotted Meat in the Middle on the way to the movies one day and was very interested in giving it a try. A few days after, he took me here and the outside of the restaurant really succeeded our expectations - it's a very modern exterior and it does really stand out!

We ordered one of the share plates. It came with a Greek salad, pita bread, chips, tzatziki sauce and lamb. Usually they also have chicken however it was unavailable on the day unfortunately!

When our meal came out we were amazed! The presentation was fabulous, everything looked delicious! We were sitting on the seats positioned by the windows and I swear everyone who walked past, glazed their eyes to our lunch and stopped to look at the menu!

Although I'm not a massive fan of souvlaki lamb, I was so amazed at how juicy and full of flavours it was. The chips were crisp and seasoned perfectly & the Greek salad was one of the best I've had, it was so crispy, fresh and a great edition to the plate to break up the rich flavours that from the lamb!

This place is fabulous for those who love a good Greek cuisine - it's affordable and the servings are massive (especially the share plates - we had a lot of leftovers)!

Food took forever then arrived cold and had to be sent back. Poor quality lamb gyros, tough and fatty. Definitely won't be back again!!! Disappointing!

Awesome greek food in the heart of Glen Waverley. Serving up burgers, souvas and some platters there's so many yummy things to choose from! Love the meat on the spit, so flavoursome and is delicious alongside the dips and the flatbread. Burgers are pretty decent too!

A very interesting concept for a restaurant serving Souvlaki& burgers .
The spartan souvlaki & the Sinatra are lip smacking
The meat is juicy succulent but char grilled leaving a lively smokey after taste

Good food, good service. Not so good plastic cups.

Awesome lamb souvlaki! Tried it with my sister and was pleasantly surprised. Quite expensive for the amount of lamb in the souvlaki to be honest but the lamb was nevertheless tender, juicy and full of flavour. Should put more lamb on the wrap and lower the prices. Overall, I would go again.

Friends have recommended this place over and over again and I finally came to try it out! Ordered The Battle of Troy to share and a side of onion rings. Generous portion and very satisfying when you love your meats! The only let down was the dessert we ordered, Greek donuts, they were too hard for my liking. But definitely will be back to try their other meals!

A sneaky find in Glen Waverly amongst the hustle and bustle. A nicely set up place but very small. The chips were fantastic with the crumbled feta. My souvlaki was great but not to die for. My partner had a tough time with his burger as the pork crackling in it was very generous and he couldn't even chew it, he ended up pulling it out. Otherwise not bad.

Lamb was tough. Why the mustard with my lamb?! Chips were good (when they are served hot). All in all, would have prefered YOMG+Burger #sozmate #goodtry

The burgers here are really yum!! Reasonably priced and the quality was really good! Definitely the best place to eat in the Glen IF you are after a burger.

This place is great, I had the Spartan souv, and the b/f had Double or Nothing. He was one happy boy, and my souvlaki was great. We also ordered some chips with the ouzo aoili. Not usually a fan of ouzo, but the taste was subtle and quite tasty! Definitely will go back again.
Pepper's Food Adventures
Good service. Good food. Convenient location. Would go back.

Ordered:
Spartan in an open platter which was nice but not adequate for two people (my bad). On the side, we ordered the Apple Slaw which sounded nice in the description but it was okay...

Great food for my meat eater and an amazing vegetarian burger. After seeing a movie I took my carnivorous boyfriend here to spoil him. It wasn't too busy when we arrived but certainly popular. There was a lovely diner esthetic mixed with the hipster Melbourne we all know and love (complete with people next to me talking about the best Italian coffee). My boyfriend ordered the 'Double or Nothing' and I 'The Sammy' (being the only vegetarian option.). The staff were busy but still lovely, even refilling my drink bottle for free! A short wait later and my well sized burger and my boyfriend's monster arrived. He adored that thing so much and described it as "mouthwatering and succulent with perfect serving sizes". The Sammy had the best felafel patty with a good flavour but excellent texture, unlike many which are squishy and soggy this was crisp on the outside with soft inside. Tomatoes and spinach complemented the burger as it was so spicy, next time I'll be ordering with a little less chili. The prices here were very good with around $19 for both, we would defiantly return.
