Not bad coffee...nice staff. Yet to try lunch, but a toastie was nice!

Good place to get away when you need to and have a good value meal. Coffee is one of the better ones round the area. They could be a little more creative with the menu and mix it up a bit more. It can be a bit repetitive sometimes despite it always being very good quality I find.

After moving back to Melbourne recently one of the first challenges was finding a good lunch spot. Having worked in Sydney CBD options were abundant but coming to Southbank initially showed some cause for concern.
Enter Pellaroma.
Now I'm only on my third meal there but already it's a favourite. They seem to serve a wide variety of meals but I feel they differentiate themselves by premium service and quality food.
As a Chinese I've eaten a tonne of rice in the past but honestly there is something magical about the steamed rice coming out of Pellaroma. It's simply better than most places I've eaten at as it was perfectly white and fluffy. Couple that with their delicious butter chicken or chilli con carne and it was a fantastic satisfying lunch.
Sure their prices cost a little more ($11 instead of sub $10) than the rest of the cheaper lunch spots, but was it worth it? Yes.
Now you CAN put a price on quality food and friendly service; it's only $11 at Pellaroma.
Give it a try if you're ever around Freshwater Place.

Came here as part of AMEX Shop Small promotion. Unlikely to come back regularly. Experience was fine but nothing special. Above average food but held back by poor service a little slow.

Paid more for the bigger container only to get less portion of food than the smaller cheaper container. Food is overpriced for how much they charge.

The food is great but not worth having to deal with the people. I don't know if they are all high or what, but it is like talking to zombies.

Good coffee and decent breakfast - friendly service to go with it too!

Great eatery. Unfortunately, it's hidden away and doesn't have a shop facing the main road.

A nice selection of subs, sandwiches and hot food from curries to chicken parmas. This place has a lot of options for a quick lunch on your break. The set out is nice and gives you the option of dining in or taking away

Skip everything else and go straight for the salad bar! They have every ingredient under the sun and hand toss everything together to create your masterpiece. I’m a regular for falafel with everything!

Pellaroma is more of a hidden gem at Freshwater place. Not consistently busy which I find surprising as the coffee is awesome and reasonably priced. Service is very friendly and while we haven't tried too many items on the menu, those we have tried were yum. Thumbs up for the perfectly poached eggs on the Gone Fishing breakfast meal and the pancakes. We will be back for more!

Very good cafe. Great service, great food, great drinks. Would come back. Very good atmosphere, love the music. Favorite cafe around the city area.

A male staff member was extremely rude to me. He is the most offensive wait staff I have ever come across in the hospitality industry. I will never ever go back to this cafe and none of my friends or work colleagues will either.

Disappointed. I have visit this café many times over the last couple of years and had no problems. However lately I have found the staff unfriendly. I have witnessed the young gentleman behind the counter be rude to customers. Not sure if he was joking but it doesn't come across very nice.

Nice little cafe. Dined here for lunch today and I had Fish and Chips. I was pleasantly surprised that the fish tasted quite delicious even though the chips were not that fantastic. Still, we get to choose between a few different types of pasta salad (got the Salami pasta) and it was value for money.

The ambiance was great too; we sat on the upper level which looks down below and is quiet for a good chat with friends.

Exceptional Service. As you would expect in freshwater place - this cafe primarily services take away coffee and lunch crowd with plenty of space for local workers to enjoy a meal away from their desk.

We purchased a meal voucher to Pellaroma planning to treat our young sons (2&4) to breakfast in the city.
Given the business of the venue we did not expect our needs to be so well catered for.
WOW - our boys were so SPOILT - staff were attentive without request - moving tables - extra napkins - serving the pancake stack we ordered for them to share in spectacular fashion on individual plates - a parting gift of lolly bags (quiet permission sought.)
I’ve never seen my busy four year old clean a plate so quickly – delicious.

George and his team really exceeded all expectations - thank-you.
axdn12 - if you don't have time to do a little research before you buy a voucher don't buy it.

Loved it!. 16 March 2012 What a pleasant surprise...lovely service, big portions, nice choices, pleasant surrounding. Prices are especially surprising for the city. I want to go back.

Waste of money. I bought a voucher for a meal for two people in november. Unfortunatly I was not informed that this restraunt is only open until 5pm on weekdays. I was even told I'd have to book well in advance to get weekends. Well it'll have to be really far in advance because they are not open. Because I dont have long leasuirly days to spend at southbank, I am unable to use my voucher. What a waste of money!!!

Great range of hot meals that change daily. Good flavours, variety and prices. Also a wonderful range of fresh salads to choose from. Good service from George and his team!

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from Pellaroma. I was thinking it was going to be a typical Southbank tourist trap, a huge barn that just churned people through, like Blue Train . But I was totally wrong.
