Ordered the combination chicken, bbq pork and veggies on rice from Uber eats. Reliable, quick and actually not too bad.
The sauce on the rice wasn't too salty, the whole dish was average but very filling. Thank you.
The laksa noodle soup is amazing. This place is always quiet too and never crowded.
We've been ordering takeaway from here a few times and the food is surprisingly good. This time we had the combination crispy noodles as well as the fried rice noodles with beef. Both were really tasty. There was enough beef in the rice noodles and it was quite tender, though the noodles were quite oily if that's something that bothers you. I looked the other way and just ate it anyway. The crispy noodles was really delicious though. The sauce was tasty and the ingredients were quite fresh tasting. The noodles aren't really crispy at all as they are submerged in the sauce but I like it that way and the texture was soft, more like yee mee (which I love).
Prices are decent ($13-14 for a single dish meal). I'll definitely be ordering more of the crispy noodle dishes in the future.
Went here today for the first time as I was in the area. Had vegetarian Singapore noodles. They asked if tofu and egg were ok so they’re obviously hip to dietary restrictions. The dish was of a decent size and really good quality. Nice decor and atmosphere. Will happily return.
Was recommended to come to this place by a colleague so I thought I’d try it out since it was super close to my workplace.
My attention was drawn to the Fried Crispy Noodles with Seafood as soon as I saw it on the menu. Water Flames definitely does not play around with the portions of the dish- it was so huge that it probably could have been shared by 2 people! Consists of a bed of crispy noodles and an abundance of vegetables and seafood. The noodles are coated with a thick and flavourful sauce - making it crispy in the outer layers, but soft and tender in the middle.
Certainly enjoyed my meal here, would definitely come back to try some other dishes.
Open nice and late, fantastic high quality Chinese food with friendly staff. Cheap as chips for dinner if you're just chasing a bento box. Located next to games laboratory.
This is a friendly restaurant that specialised in steamboat. However, their Taiwanese-leaning noodles soups and rice dishes are delicious. I love any of the noodles that are served in the fish soup base. Note that the prices for dinner are $2 more than in the menu.
Absoultley amazing. Food was delicious and served within a great time. Pricing was cheap and the quality was tops. We had the popcorn chicken , Singapore fried rice, green beans and meat and everything was delicious
The best hot pot in Melbourne, hands down. Very tasty soup, large variety of food, cheap beers and prompt service. Come here if you want a good feed! Would recommend for anyone wanting to chill and have a feast
I loved the popcorn chicken on rice! It's nicely seasoned, and wasn't too dry. The fish soup of the round rice noodles was pretty good as well, and the minced pork and preserved vege went well with it.
Portions are really big, and there's a $2 charge per person if you're dining after 5.30pm. Even so, the prices are still reasonable for the giant servings.
I have been to this place so many times because it is so close to my apartment. Soup base is good, large variety of choices and decent price. Had the chicken soup last time and it was tasty. My fav dishes would be the stuffed Chinese donuts, fried fish cakes, fish noodle and premium grade beef rolls. I tried the popcorn chicken once and it was great too.
I love hot pot in cold winter's nights. Discovered this place whilst walking past. It offers wide range of stock for soup base. Also have interesting range of fruit flavored beer.
Salty Pork Bones Soup, 14.80AUD + Kurobuta Pork Rolls, 9.80AUD + Sliced Angus Beef, 12.80AUD + Udon, 3.80AUD. We need a good fix of heat in the tummy to keep us warm on a crisp cold night like this. The restaurant that we initially wanted to go to was temporarily closed so this was our second option. Boy was I glad that the first restaurant was not in operation, because Water Flame really satisfied our breadbaskets.
Never get disappointed with them... Hong Kong style hotspot is heavily rely on the soup base... They made authentic pork bone soup...band still have lots variety soup base to choose from... Food there is fresh. Although portion is relatively small but it's enough
Best hotpot in Melbourne. My friends and I have been visiting this place frequently for more than a year now. We love the high quality food they provide us with. It is value for money.
We highly recommend the clear soup base and the Korobuta pork set, which costs less than $25.00. The set is made up of high quality pork roll (thinly sliced) with vegetable, Enoki mushroom, udon, etc etc. Not convinced to give it a try yet? Unlike the usual frozen (fish)balls that are bought from an Asian grocer and sold to you at higher price in other hotpot restaurants, this shop offers amazingly bouncy HANDMADE (fish)balls that can't be bought elsewhere. Still not good enough?
The hotpot set comes with COMPLIMENTARY Chinese herbal drink. They alter it from time to time depending on what they have in stock. Rest assured, you will always get two options! It is extremely refreshing. Also, instead of asking you to fork out additional $6 for sauce, they allow you to have it for FREE - mix and match sesame oil, vinegar, Taiwanese Satay sauce, sesame oil, fresh chilies, spring onions and garlic. You can further season your sauce / soup however you like using their spices on the table or ask for a bottle of chili sauce.
The prices are stated very clearly in the menu and we usually do arithmetic when we order, once we hit around $20-25 per person (disclaimer: depending on what you order but we usually select a mixture of cheaper items and about 3 "balls", 2 dumplings / wontons per person) we know that we will all be satisfied after the meal.
Give it a try and I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I / we do.
Great service and fresh food. A very easy lunchtime retreat if you need a quick lunch or something social to share.
To Flame or not to Flame?. I say.... NOT TO FLAME!
This is an amazing place! And I love the whole fantastic small modern feel to this restaurant. The food has been neatly and strategically sliced up for eye-devouring presentation.
Yes, the portions may seem small, but I'm telling you, the food will fill you up!
I went there with a group of 5 people and we came out full and satisfied. Each spending about $32 after splitting the cost of the bill evenly.
For some people, maybe this is a bit dear for the size and portion that comes out, but I think it's quite a decent price. Given that most hot pots in and around CBD are usually $30 already, so.... why complain?
Service is fantastic, staff members are overly kind and accommodating. Try it out...and spare some time to write a review on this place if you like/or hate it.
I think this place deserves better reviews than some of the things I've read here.
Cheers
Never understood why people would say that this place is expensive? or they are just cheap people who cant afford a meal. This simply cheap to eat at, especially the hotpots and bites and the staff were never rude, please reconsider yourselves, best place for hotpot in CBD
This place is a must go for amazing Chinese food. I eat here at least once a fortnight. The prices are on the cheaper side, the staff are very friendly, the food is amazing and the restaurant has a very nice feel to it.
My favourite Hot Pot experience. My favourite hot pot restaurant in Melbourne!
They have a huge variety of high quality dishes (including home made prawn/pork/beef/cuttle fish balls) for the hot pot and the grill. The Pork Bone Soup base is YUM! Cuttlefish balls were amazing!
The grill really brings some excitement to a typical hot pot, and with all hot pot you get unlimited refill of ice teas (on the night I went it was Jasmine and Wintermelon).
If you love quality steamboat this is a must try! A little gem in Melbourne.
FYI: It's a la carte and not all you can eat, though I think in general you won't spend much more than one of those crappy quality hot pot places.
Excellent spot. Cheap food, that comes out hot and plentiful. Very yummy stuff, would recommend!
Really special steam pot. We went there couple of time, love the steam pot, fresh ingredients.and nice soup base!!!! recommend it!!!!!
Amazing quality, great price. Ordered the beans with pork mince on rice, Chicken with Taiwanese sauce on rice and dumplings. The quality was great, the staff were nice. Would recommend to everyone.
