Small sized meals and coffee – POOR VALUE FOR MONEY!
They have just done “mail drop offs” to relaunch themselves however haven’t addressed the real problem which is:
1) way too expensive 2) small food portions and 3) small coffee sizes.
Coffee rating: 6/10.

• Scuttlebutts Large Coffee : which is a VERY SMALL MEDIUM (fake large) is $5.50
• Elsewhere: LARGE (true large) is $4.80
Scrambled Eggs:
• Scuttlebutts Scrambled Eggs: $10
• Elsewhere: $6.50
Other cafe's in the area have a "bacon & egg muffin" and "large coffee" special for $8.50

I used to work nearby and I miss the delicious soups in winter served with toasted bread. They do good coffee and also offer a great selection of focaccias and made to order hot food.

I had coffee here, a brownie and the delicious chili scrambled egg on bread with extra crunch. Staff take time and are very friendly.

Only ordered the porridge but it was just really nice with caramelised banana, caramel sauce, steel cuts oats and milk on the side. Served promptly with great coffee, so happy to rate 4 stars.

Staff are friendly and food looks good. But charging $4 for a coffee that is not close to perfect makes me sad. I get a coffee once in a while from here but often than not it’s not good. And now a small coffee is $4 I probably won’t go back.

Nice little cafe if you're in the area. But it is away from the main drag of South Melbourne. Nice coffee (they serve Bon Soy too) however at $5 for a medium soy latte - the same price as some specialist coffee places in the area (inc the amazing St Ali) - I was pretty surprised.<br/><br/>They usually have fresh muffins each day and some tasty paninis if you're looking to grab lunch.

New Owners -not so good. Regular haunt for breakfast. After being away for a week I returned to find new owners. Giving benefit of doubt I try twice for the usual. Service really gone off and food nowhere near as good. Patronage seriously declined too. Nowhere near as many customers anymore.<br/><br/>Used to be one of the busiest little cafe's in the morning. Now beginning to look like a ghost town!!<br/><br/>I won't be back.

I don't usually like banana porridge for breakfast but this one is exceptional - caramelized banana and a creamy texture. The poached eggs and bacon is delicious - top quality ingredients. Love this place!

AMAZING. I love Scuttlebutt. I work in the area and go in at least once a day. Their Chai brewed with the tea leaves is fantastic as is the banana porridge. Lovely staff, 5 stars.

Scuttlebutt is my local as I go to uni close by. The coffees always spot on, the food is always amazing. The apple cleanser on a hot day is so refreshing! All of that aside, the staff are super friendly and also deliver great service. More people need to know about this lovely cafe! 5 stars

This place has the best muffins ever!!<br/>Great coffee too. It can get quite busy but we had quick & friendly service, will defiantly be back for those muffins!
