With the crazy heatwave on the weekend my friend and I picked up a take away Super Special pizza. Such an iconic restro and the pizzas are always great too
This is the original La P and by far the best. The chain gets a bad rap but I actually quite rate it for budget friendly Italian although I imagine some of the branches are better then others. On this occasion my BBQ chicken was delectable. They make it just the way I like sans onions and mushrooms and the delicious sweetness of the BBQ sauce and pineapple appeals to my dessert inclined palette. The garlic focaccia is a great sharing starter too
I give a rate 4 for their gelato. It's yum, generous, and cheap. 2 scoops for only $4 to take away (different price if you have it for dine in) .. If you go around this place, don't miss it! 😙🍦🍦🍦
Most times it's good and sometimes it's not. Food seems to be cooked too fast and often is not quite cooked. Pizzas can be really good but seems to vary upon who's making them, missing ingredients etc. Staff are friendly but some are untrained, beer served without glasses, cutlery without plates. You have to ask for coffee to be hot otherwise it is served lukewarm. Serves are generous. Parking is OK
One of my favourite restaurants. This is the original and the best La Porchetta .
Rocky the owners dad. Was one of the most successful restaurateurs I've meet. He had a strong focus to customer service. Provided customers a good value for money feed you can get. And the quality was excellent. His daughter continues the tradition.
Kids usually gets and colour in while waiting (not sure if you need to ask)
Galati from this place is excellent. I used to stop here on long drives just for the gelati.
Perfect to go here for lunch and after work. Weekends for dinner gets very busy.
Parking here is good most times.
The Boss took me to La Porchetta in Carlton early on in our romance. I thought she must have been about to dump me or else she had some crazy coupon deal because I had never, ever crossed the threshold of a La Porchetta franchise and had no plan of doing so. That is, until I spied through the front window the kitsch interior with its museum displays of old vespas hanging from the ceiling. Lightbulb! "Is this the La Porchetta? I immediately wanted everything, the garlic bread, the pasta, the gelati, the peronis and the faux-formica tables, pronto!
A stayer for good reason!. I love this place. The cheese to tomato base ratio is really top notch and the dough is just the right amount of thin and able to hold toppings but doughy and tasty.
Last Saturday I went to La Porchetta for the first time and it was absolutely fantastic! My family and I were greeted by a young waitress I believe was named Lizzie who served us for the rest of the night wonderfully. The food was affordable and rather good, fast service, polite staff. Definitely coming back for dinner again!!
Loved it. Loved it great pizza fine wine and great food will be back
Nat P, front of house :) absoulotly lovely. Great soup for lunch :) keep up the great work guys :) Andrew
Best pizza in Melbourne!. I'm a little surprised with some of these reviews below me. I always come down to Carlton La Porchetta every Friday after Uni and they have the nicest pizza out there. The people are friendly, the service is FAST and the value is good. Seriously, this is one of the best Italian restaruants around. You'd be hard pressed to find better!
Not a great fan of the La Porchetta franchise chain but, of the all ones out there this one it's the best of them all..shame about the pizzas, they're not the same as when Rocco was around but, generally food is ok, gastronomically not highly evolved, but ok nonetheless. Prices are also reasonable too. Good place to have a Sunday pizza with the kids before having a play in the park nearby.
I've had better. I am not a fan of La Porchettas in general but I would have too say out of all of them this is best. It's always busy and is the closest thing to Italian food out of all the other franchises. The service isn't great though and I don't think the waitors/waitresses even understand the dishes. Dirty cutlery and wet plates too.
Food was flavourful and fresh (Garlic prawns is a must try), wait staff friendly and fantastic. Would recommend this place for a bite to eat if you're in the area.
My husband, my sister & brother in law & I visited last night, 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. Unlike some restaurants they didn't make a fuss about the lateness of our visit, but welcomed & seated us efficiently & took our order, 2 pizzas, 1 pasta & a chicken Parma.
The food was served promptly &:we were all delighted with our meals but I want to make a special mention of my delicious anchovy pasta from the specials list. Perfectly cooked spaghetti with a fabulous sauce of anchovy, Chili, cherry tomatoes, onions & oil. Fabulous simple food beautifully cooked. Don't underestimate this amazing dish...,give it a try

Visited La Porchetta this afternoon with my Family. The food tasted like home cooking and the best part of it was the service. The young lady who assisted me was friendly, offered me wine options and looked after us really well. Excellent! I will be returning 💕
This Pizzeria takes me back to the belated Rocco who is a Melbourne Icon. Tributes and blessings to his family and friends for continuing the great hospitality and wonderful pizzas. I must also give credit to Brother Felice who runs his own Pizzeria in University Hill.
Warm Regards

Great pizza but because they are situated in a neighbourhood where it’s residents are predominantly old white boomers, the restaurant is forced to cater to their geriatric needs. This means that establishment is forced to close at 8 pm sharp or they will receive noise complaints from the cranky, old white boomers that live there. If La Porchetta was allowed to open late it would be a five star establishment. Such a shame how old white boomers ruin everything in this country
Takeaway 3 pizzas; pineapple, chicken and the lot. All were tasty hot and had good ratio of crisp and moist. Very good service swiftly made ready quick.
Good food and service except customers please note, split bills not accepted. Pay at the front before being seated. A good night for a small group.
