I go here for a coffee + muffin deal occasionally, and love both. I recently tried out the $10 steak sandwich deal for lunch with some friends from work, and we all really enjoyed our food.
The service staff, in my experience, have always been friendly, smiling and respectable.
There are plenty of tables, and there's plenty of room in the place as well as outside. It's not too noisy but certainly not empty, either.
Everything I've experienced so far is good, and food options (depending on day of week and time of day) range from very inexpensive up to mid- $30's. There are some better options really close by for that higher end of the price range, but Othello has a much more relaxed, cafe-style atmosphere as opposed to the dim-lit classy bistro + bar options in the vicinity.

Thank goodness Greek food has returned to Southbank! It has been a long time since I have had such delicious smokey eggplant dip, and the taramasalata was subtle and fluffy - delicious. The meze platter was spectacular, and the saganaki, gyros and baclava very tasty - a truly Greek experience - I will be back!
I liked the decor, it was relaxed and the timber furniture felt familiar and comfortable, with a lovely view out to the trees and the city skyline above them.
My only issue was they were a bit slow with service, but I think they suddenly had a lot more people for lunch than they had expected. The staff were very friendly.

Dined on a Living social voucher and unfortunately was very lack luster.
The dinner started off well with a lovely mezza plate with dips (the smoked eggplant in the baba ganoush was amazing), but it was down hill from there.
The calamari were ok, but the fish piece had clearly been frozen and didn't have a nice texture at all nor flavor.
The meat plate was very boring, lacking flavour.
And didn't make the greek coffee properly - could see where we were sitting they just used hot water from the coffee machine rather than slowly heat on stove top so it tasted like dirty water.
So many better options in the area and doesn't represent good Greek food at all.

I have just eaten a take-away Gyros Plate and I was extremely disappointing. It was overpriced ($28.00, $22.00 mentioned online) the 'greek salad' was lettuce, 3 cucumbers and tomatoes. No feta, olives or sauce!! Called to complain and the woman said "it will be better next time". Will not be going back and do not recommend.

Had Sunday lunch seafood baskets prawns, calamari, greek salad. Tasty nice change of not having a mountain of chips on top with some little seafood hiding. $32.00 for seafood a little pricy but I guess it is a Sunday and wages are higher then

Had brekky here and I loved it! Their bacon & egg pita with relish is amazing - what a great mix of an Australian classic with Greek pita. I'll go back to Sydney craving it now :)

Stumbled upon Othello on a trip back to Melbourne. The mezze platter was amazing! The prices were very reasonable, and the mains certainly did not disapoint. Would definitely come again.

Neat place but nothing fancy. The food was nice but not quite amazing, have definitely had better Greek food. The staff were nice but not all that attentive, I think they wanted to be somewhere else. Was OK overall.
