Very poor since changed owners/manager my son ordered 1 mixed (with chilli)and 1 lamb souvlaki tonight 30/11 when he returned home and opened the bag 2 lamb souvlaki no chilli sauce both with very little meat and salad and only 1 little cheap paper napkin, chips we're OK .We've tried this place twice since the new owners have taken over and I'm sorry to say it's no where near as good as it was , such a shame as it was our favourite souvlaki. We will definitely not be going back .

Details: The portion size for the amount of money spent is not worth it... however when in need of a quick feed before the footy (or whatever you fancy), it is alright. The spanakopita was very tasty. Decor: loved the beautiful mykonos painting. Staff: very friendly and approachable.

My first HSP (because they don't make them in kid size servings, like that size at LOTF, but I hate fake meat). This one's $15 from Hellenic Bite, meat (chicken and lamb) on chips with garlic, bbq and chili sauce. It was delicious! We also had a $6 salad which was average and not particularly recommended with Coles on the same block (their potato salad is the best). It was very hot inside the eatery, oddly so.

The souvlaki here are even better than the ones in Oakleigh, my boyfriend and I drive all the way here just for the souvlaki because they are the best! So filling, so much meat and the bread is very soft and delicious! Yummmm! You must try these. The owner is really friendly and staff have great service.

This used to have great home style good quality Greek food. Poor health has led to change of ownership and unfortunately poor quality lacklustre food. The new owner is very friendly but the food I bought was horrible. The salads looked bad but tasted worse. Not sure if the beetroot was canned or a mixture of fresh and canned but it looked messy- diced mixed with halved pieces. Poor quality feta and not much of it. What a shame! Tasteless vine leaves. Will not return- sorry 😕

This place was okay. Not the worst burger and souvlaki we've had, but definitely not the best. Meat was dry with the open souva and bread was chewy with my burger. Lady behind the counter was very nice though. Perhaps people have rated this place highly after a bevvies at the bars on Swan, so everything tastes good while inebriated...?

This place is easy to review. Come here to get some of the BEST souvlaki in Melbourne. Also their burgers are kickass too. Finish everything off with a wonderful rice pudding. Easy to give this place a top rating. Check it out to see why

The lady, presumably the owner, who served at the counter was very friendly and lovely. And that was the highlight of tonight's dinner... Unfortunately the food was just okay. It's definitely not bad, but it wasn't great. I ordered the Zeus burger meal, apparently just like everyone there tonight. The burger was big, the chips were fat, there wasn't much seasonings or sauces, the bun was a bit tough but it was still good, and there wasn't any skewer to hold the big burger. Overall it was an okay experience.

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to try this place – it’s fantastic! The vegan burger is out of this world. Great quality patty (lentil/brown rice/veggies), chewy delicious bun, and flavour packed salads and dips round it out. It’s filled with delicious smokiness and flavours – plus it is huge! Hellenic Bite was packed at lunchtime, despite the new modern burger places encroaching on it from all sides - and for good reason. Fresh, delicious food. Great service. I’ll definitely be back.

I recently had a craving for a souva and chanced upon this place. Whilst the price was a dollar or two more than the usual, I was super impressed with the taste and quality of their ingredients. I would put them on par with my fave souva bar, Stalactites.

No frills, yummy food, great value, all with a friendly homely service, like being in your Greek mum's kitchen. $20 for the "small" mixed plate. You can see the amount of meat given in the metal container in the photo attached. It really could feed 2 people. The salads were fresh and tasty too, I especially loved the potato salad with egg.

I found myself in Richmond at lunchtime the other day, so I headed over to Swan St to check out Hellenic Bite, a Greek souvlaki and burger place. They won an Age Good Food Guide award for their food and came recommended from a couple of people on social media. A souvlaki joint is unlikely territory for a vegan, but they do a great vegan burger. The vegan patty is made in house from brown rice, small green french lentils and vegetables – I could make out at least corn and carrot. They were friendly and helpful and happy to answer the questions I had.

GREAT VEGAN BURGER. Went to Hellenic Bite for a late lunch and was surprised by the yummy and large serving of burgers. I had the Zeus Burger deal - Burger/ Chips / Drink and my daughter had the Vegan Burger. The Vegan Burger was a generous serving and looked very yummy and healthy, a must try in my next visit. The chips was golden, crunchy and mushy inside - perfect. The lovely lady that served us was informative and obviously very proud of the burgers served and proudly point to the Age Best Burger award sign 2014. I highly recommend this burger cafe.

Bloody Brilliant (with one wish). Everyone needs to eat here! I've been coming here for the past 3 years and have tried everything on the menu. Everything is always bloody awesome. Can't go past that broccoli & mushroom salad - ever! My wish: I would love to be able to get a souv in a box occasionally, rather than in bread. Every now & then I just want that amazing meat with the lot but I don't want the bread. Might be worth considering as I have been to a couple of other places that do it & they fly out the door (especially in this low carb/no carb world we live in) KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST!

Authentic Greek food at it's finest!. After reading the review in The Good Food Guide I finely had the opportunity to try out the souvlaki at Hellenic bite. Delicious mouth watering fresh meat. Salad was fresh and staff were friendly and polite. All reasonably prices. I will definitely be back.

I work on Swan St & come to this place for lunch/dinner at least 3 times a week & have been doing so for the last 2 years. I love the quality of meat & the fact that no matter what dish you purchase, there is no doubt that you will definitely be back. I've recommended this place to colleagues, friends & family & they have the most positive response every time they dine at this place too . I have no idea why "Don't-Tread-On-Me" has written the most outrageous, negative & false accusations deliberately "treading" & trolling on this great food establishment & the fact that you claim there was CURRY in your lamb souvlaki is beside the point. Maybe you've mistaken this Greek place for a Middle Eastern or Indian restaurant on Swan St. Lol.

Disgusting. How on earth do you have a 94% rating? You have offended me as a Greek with this sad excuse for a lamb souvlaki. An oily, gristly, curry flavoured mess. Poor quality meat which I discarded half of. Where the curry flavour came from bemuses me. If your itching for a souv go elsewhere. Double thumbs down.

This time, I didn't eat a giro (as they spell it). I was in the mood for a meal that was heavy on the veggies, so I turned down my temptation to order a giro (as Hellenic Bite spells its souvlaki-style sanger) and had a spanakopita plate instead. @ $10.50 for a decent serve of spinach pie, my choice of salad and some chips -- hey, they're vegetables! -- it was a good feed for the money. The spanakopita portion was two square pieces, so it had some heft. There are two main schools of spanakopita recipes, as far as I've observed in the world. One variety, like the kind my X used to make, is heavy on the spinach. The other style is more spinach-and-sweated onions with a vinegary undertone. That's how Hellenic Bite's tastes. I prefer the spinach-y, but Hellenic Bite's filling was good too. It had a lot of feta cheese mixed in, so it wasn't like eating spinach puree in filo. Some Greek places cheap out by doing it that way. The Greek salad I picked had big chunks of feta too, along with wedges of tomato, cucumber and a scattering of Kalamata olives. It was just the sort of healthy food I had in mind. Its goodness helped balance out the wicked hot chips that I was snacking on as I took the 70 tram back home. Man cannot live by virtuous food alone, eh?

I was so hungry today and looked up and down Swan Street for a late lunch. I stumbled across Hellenic Bite and I was so glad I did. I find with all the fancy and expensive burger places popping up that they just don't satisfy me. I would look no further if you too crave the burger of your childhood with Greek flavours. I had the chicken burger which was spiced and had bacon, guacamole, crispy shredded lettuce all on a fresh toasted bun. The service was also really great and very friendly. The salad and dips looked fresh and I look forward to trying them on my next visit. Thanks Hellenic Bite for such a yummy and satisfying lunch.

I've been here several times and have always had the lamb gyros souvlaki. Nicest souvlaki in Richmond by far! Good quality lamb, tender and juicy, and chips seem freshly homemade, served with tzatziki and tomato sauce on the side. Definately going to order platter next time as they looked impressive!

Well cared for. Was blown away by the above and beyond caring nature found by the staff here. My friend who has a wheelchair was catered for by moving our table reservation to the front of the restaurant, I walked in with freezing hands and was given a pot of hot water and asked if I needed a heater to go under the table. Food was delicious, portions very generations. Highly recommend!

Beautiful toubela in the window....had chicken tabouli tzaki and chilli...what a combo....as someone who doesn't like Greek food normally....it is lean tastes awesome and they use great quality chicken....I was shocked to say the least.......the food is amazing......next time I feel like chicken salad I know the place . Souvs or burgers. Have eaten there many times and always prompted to try the burger well today i did not your average burger if you want that go to fish shop the roll did not overtake the meat pattie and the flavours amazing as with there souvs Big Burger love love definitely will have again

I use to go to Lambs on Chapel for my souvlaki hit, never ever again. Hellenic Bite is worlds apart. Best Greek Food and Service in Melbourne. I highly recommend it to all you Greek lovers out there!

Great for lunch... in the office. Had the mixed souvlaki, along with chips and a selection of salads to share with the crew at work. Firstly the souvlaki was very generous in the meat department - and like my go to souvlaki Eurobites not too greasy, the obligatory lettuce, tomato and onion were there and the sauce was lovely yoghurty and not over powered by garlic. Salads were really nice and fresh standouts were the greek, tabhouli and the beetroot with baby spinach one (great idea that). Chips were fat and salty, but from a frozen bag they're not the best around. I know I make a big deal of souvlaki not being greasy, but if you like most Melbournians grew up with the Souvlaki Bar, Lambs and Satactites you know gristly, greasy (albeit delicious) souvlaki with overpowering garlic sauce and sticky marinade on the meat. This new breed are a refreshing change with their meaty, charcoally with nice tatziki and fresh salad.

Swan Street Gyro Hero. For a long time, Swan St lacked a good gyro option... then these guys showed up. Even with the addition of a Lambs up the street, this place remains the best place to get a quality bleating-eating. The partner and I like to get a large takeaway meal and cart it home to have with a bottle of red. The service has a true family feel is always appreciated. Also- they have a burger on offer for about 3 bucks cheaper than the rapidly declining Urban Burger next door and while I haven't tried it, it is on the list. Great chips too!
