Happy Tuesday Friends! Who needs a coffee? I do 🙋🏼‍♀️ If you’re ever down in docklands or south wharf this little coffee shop serves the goods in coffee, service and delicious petite savoury and sweets. One thing I’ve noticed that is a game changer for day time cafes and restaurants is what I call the green zen. Introducing plants, mini bonsai’s or a touch of table finesse. This place does it well. ..
+ Great Service, Delicious Coffee & Sweets
- Tiny Shop so not a lot of seating, very busy (which is great) but can be a little wait for coffee (worth it), need a few more savoury options
One of the best coffee shop in Docklands area for sure (just because I work in Docklands and have tried lots of different coffee shop around). One of my all time fav; the ice latte!
One of our go-to places for morning coffee. The staff are friendly and the lines move quite quick during the peak times. The muffins and treats are a bit on the expensive side though.
Best coffee EVER! Love my almond lattes from this place. So smooth. Won’t go anywhere else. Love that you can buy the coffee and keep cups from there too.
I queued for coffee at Code Black this morning. Staff were friendly and took you order while you were in the line so that by the time you were at the till and ready to pay your coffee. I was impressed by the variety of treats available and was drawn to the savoury muffins which there were two varieties of. You can go to dozens of cafes in Melbourne and there isn’t a single savoury muffin option and this place has two...Sold!!! Incidentally I opted for the pesto, feta and tomato muffin and it was very well made. Coffee was good too. Could easily be my regular coffee spot in Docklands.
Nice coffee (and soy is steamed perfectly) and great customer service.
However the price is a bit on the expensive side compared to other shops around in Docklands.
Code Black Coffee has always been raved about and recommended when within the area. Never had an issue with picking up a takeaway coffee - definitely the best in the area. Service is quick, and the beans used are quality.
What a great cafe! My friend Kodi recommended thsi place to me, and im so glad i went to check it out. It has such a nice fun and friendly vibe :) the coffee was yum and i loved eating this big milk chocolate cookie! The service was so friendly! And i enjoyed the cool rnb music being played! Such a nice way to soend the afternoon, especially on a nice spring day like today. They also have baguettes and stuff if you want something for lunch :)
Great amazing coffee for the price. Great prices quality and value. Hidden but very worth it! Super nice style and decor inside! Top friendly staff
Cute little store with cozy and modern decoration. If you're after decent coffee then it's the place to be. Staff is friendly and takes pride in making the coffees. If you're undecided on your afternoon caffeine hit, the friendly staff can give you some recommendations. Standard tea, a small menu selection, and with price a tad higher than other places in the area the cafe are often overlooked. The donut is great though; the caramel custard I had was not too sweet, had a slightly crispy dough, and loaded with creamy caramel custard.
Really good coffee - strong, well made. Not quite hot enough for my liking. Crazy busy at peak time for people on their coffee break from work, but service is quick. Staff are friendly. Cute, 'standing' cafe with modern decor.
I'm keeping this one simple... great coffee, awesome staff who go out of their way to remember you and fantastic service! I'll be back for sure!
It's not very often that you come across a good almond milk cappuccino - let alone a great one - however Code Black has absolutely nailed it. Creamy and frothy, not watery and not burnt. Brilliant!
See you again tomorrow morning.
[ A favourite in the financial district ]
Code Black is the best purely 'coffee and cake' place in Melbourne's financial district. The cafe is cosy and tucked away; a blessing considering how many people stream through it each hour! The small identity crisis they have can be solved by unifying all the different logos they have everywhere.
If you want to buy coffee beans for your filtered coffee in the area, this is probably your best bet. They sell many different kinds of beans for your coffee making, both filter and expresso roasts. They regularly change the beans they stock.
This is the best or definitely one of the best coffee in Docklands/Melbourne, no bitterness/acidity, fruitty cherry taste. I can smell the coffee taste after few hours while writing this. yumm
My preference is to come to this place for a good coffee when I'm visiting docklands. Quick take-away service and a efficient system in which you place your order. Runs very smoothly.
After having tried the pop store in Southgate, I was looking forward to trying this place out after realising that it was near my workplace. I've been there twice already and it does get really busy during the morning (around 10am) so expect to wait a couple of minutes for your coffee to arrive.
I ordered a cappuccino on my first visit and a latte for my second visit and both were great and not overly bitter. It's also priced decently (from memory it was $3.80 for a regular cup).
Best coffee in a 1km radius. The pastries and occasional doughnuts are great. Savory items are quite limited. Can get busy at peak times but worth the wait.
Love this place! The best coffee in docklands teamed with the nicest and employees! Also yummy treats! Open, casual, passionate, in demand and delicious!
one of the best cafe in docklands. if u work in this area should come to try the special doughnut on Fri. also tried the peanut buttercookie its not bad.
Yes!!!. This coffee is everything I've ever wanted. Everything is done right from firing up the roasters to delivering the cup to the table.
The team at Collins Street are fantastic. Such a happy and knowledgeable crew. Devastated to hear of Josie's passing and will miss that gorgeous smile. God rest.
Had the filter from Colombia and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well balanced and rich in flavour. Reasonable $4 price and made this coffee snob well satisfied.
Great coffee, mocha and cakes!
Solid solid coffee, super fast and always decent... but $7 for a savoury pastry is a little on the steep side
This Docklands Code Black is always full with staff from the offices near by. Coffee seems to be good but it would be better if it’s consistent on the taste. They also do decaf for feeding mom.
Little cafe shop in Dockland. Lots of people in line for a coffee - the line means something!
Smooth coffee and a couple of pastry/danish to choose from.
Very popular. Queues leading outside the door - a tribute to its service and quality in a city with lots of good coffee houses.
Nice and quiet place. Their coffee is good and the choc's cake is so yummy! friendly staffs as well.
My favorite coffee place in Melbourne! I usually get Mocha here which has a unique taste that I fell in love with coffee. The staff are super friendly and professional. My husband usually go there if we want a good coffee~ Love the place!
Consistently fantastic coffee! I love the strong piccolo latte; always smooth and well balanced, never sour or overly bitter. There is almost always a queue out the door; the coffee is that epic.
I’ve moved out of Docklands in search of a larger apartment but willingly drive to get my Magic here. An amazing place keeps you coming back. Code Black Cafe is truly the best example of what can be achieved with coffee today...and the tasty pastries/nibbles and service are good, one of their little window tables is a great way to enjoy the afternoon sun.
