Walked in randomly, was greeted at the front ordering counter and gestured in to pick my table. Place is clean and spacious, and food delivered to my table. I had the duck & kelp soup, and pork knuckles with broadbeans on rice & greens that comes in a “wok-pot” that keeps it hot for a long time! I was pleased h surprised that it’s not oily or salty like most Chinese eateries, I wasn’t thirsty afterwards which I hope it meant there’s little or no MSG! Wish there’s more sauce, and it’s a big serving, could serve 2! This is not a place if you expect service - so I’m reviewing this within the expectation that it’s a “canteen style” Chinese eatery, so it’s pretty good! 🌟

My to-go to place when I crave for spicy food. I always order the spicy pork belly. They put a truck load of chillies in it so if you’re a fan of spicy food, this might be your thing. I also had the sticker pot buns and they’re pretty good too, although not all buns are equally juicy.

Been here a couple of times to settle my craving of clay pot rice - even though it’s not a traditional version of it. My favourite is the spicy lamb threads - always full of flavour. Added an egg to get that protein. The buns were crispy, different taste to the ones I’ve had before with a sweeter bun skin. The tomato and beef pot was super tender but average in flavour. Also tried the duck and seaweed soup - tasted like MSG but then again.. it was only $3.00.
Would definitely recommend if you’re after a simple lunch time meal or just have cravings like me.
The venue opened not long ago and it's got two floors but upstairs not yet opened.
Decor feel modern and spacious. Staff is overall attentive and friendly. But the waiting time can be long as they are make to order and especially during lunch time. But I don't mind the wait and Order tomato beef pot it's hot sizzerling and it's done perfectly.
I would come again to try a different pot

You'd never figure out this was a Dainty Sichuan place, they seem to disassociated that name with this restaurant perhaps to let customers know that this wasn't going to be your spicy and numbing fare. You pretty much order at the entrance, I'm not a fan of panic ordering. I need time to analyse the menu and strategise. They did run out of a couple of items by 12:00pm *shrugs*
We sit in the dining room waiting for our meal, a couple of waitresses wait for the food to be made ready. Not sure why they couldn't take the orders to be honest. Our entree version of dumplings came first, steamed cuttlefish and pork dumplings. It was difficult to resist as that's the first thing you see walking past this restaurant, a couple of chefs crafting dumplings. I'm guessing it was squid ink mixed into the wrapper, not sure if the cuttlefish was in the mince but it had a lovely bouncy texture to it.
It did take awhile for our pots to come but I can tell you now that these are the star dishes. I aliken it to Cantonese claypot rice but this version is the best I've had in Melbourne. I got the pork mince with fish flavour eggplant. Eggplant was creamy with just mild heat but the rice on the bottom was golden crispy and did not get stuck in my teeth. It was like digging for gold it was that good and plenty of it!
We left stuffed, they were sizable bowls. Although we thought service could be improved we soon forgot all about that when we tasted the food. Give yourself extra time to finish, the food is pipping hot.
Came in randomly as we passed the place. Eggplant pot for my husband, prawn cucumber dumplings for myself. The pot got almost a perfect score from my husband, and I think the dumplings were decent too 😊. Will definitely come back again.

Tried prawn dumplings and kongpa chicken they served in pot which is very nice appearance and ofcoarse it as delicious as it looks,I loved both of them there is a bit wait time and the restaurant is so big...

Wanted to try something new and decided to give this place a go. It can be quite daunting if you don't know how to read Chinese characters, or speak Chinese, food here is quite delicious. It can be quite spicy if you can't handle chilli. You basically order at the counter and pay for it, a d take your order number and seat yourself down. Just order what you feel like having, it's a one pot meal concept... just order the right combination... their meat buns are pretty good too.
Great food, great atmosphere, great value. Careful the dishes marked spicy are really spicy!
