Fukutontei Ramen is a Japanese ramen restaurant located at the culturally diverse food area in Docklands. We are welcomed into their relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by the nice modern touch to their Japanese decor.

We had to try their RAMEN at Fukutontei RAMEN as well as other dishes. I highly recommend their pork katsu as well as their fried meats and seafood as their crumbing technique and flavouring on these are absolutely delicious and full of texture.

We shared a plate of Kaki Fry which were deep fried oysters (which I regret not taking a photo of). Oysters was the highlight of my Tokyo Fish Market experience and with the crumbed technique, it took this dish to another level. The oyster still had a nice creamy and squishy taste, and was balanced with the crumbly crunchy coating, topped off with a nice creamy and spicy mayo.

The Curry Udon was our favourite dish of the night - its presentation, aroma and taste was spot on. In addition, I loved the idea of the beautiful stone stove run on a natural burner which turns off around the time you finish eating to ensure your meal remains warm. The rich aromatic curry flows through the noodles which can make you drool unconsciously. The pork katsu was seasoned perfectly and had a nice crumbly crunch despite covered in a sea of curry.

I ordered the Fukutontei ramen dish, which had soft bouncy ramen noodles, with nice fatty slices of pork that were to die for, in a rich and nicely salted pork bone soup. I added some extra spicy chicken mince were interesting but was better if not added although it did offer the extra kick of chilli that I was looking for.

My friend ordered the Fukutontei Rosukatsu Set which is the crumbed pork loin that I will continue to praise for its delicious taste and texture. The process of grinding the sesame seeds and mixing it with their restaurant-made Tonkatsu sauce really brought me back to my experience at a fine dining traditional Katsu-specialised restaurant in Kyoto. The sauce was refreshing yet full of umami, and paired really well with the Katsu. The rice on the side was very fluffy, and nice to eat with.

I would give it a 3.5 if I could. Just not quite 4 ⭐.
The food was pretty good, but not remarkable. I would go back for more later.
Overall recommended if you are in the area and want to have Japanese food at modest prices

Nice experience overall with warm welcome when we arrived to quick service of our orders and yes most importantly very good food. Everything we ordered was really good, in fact we ordered extra helping of gyozas as they were really tasty.

Once we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff at this cozy restaurant. The spicy miso ramen with pork belly slice was a highlight for us - delicious for a cold night and generous in serving size. Tempura (prawn and vegetables of pumpkin, sweetpotato, okra, mushrooms) was cooked perfectly and the dipping sauce was fantastic. Overall a really nice meal at this Japanese ramen restaurant with reasonable pricing and helpful staff.

Ordered a lot of dishes here for a birthday and the food arrived really quickly and hot. The gyozas were really plumped and crunchy, with a generous load of meat filling inside.

The salad is also really tasty with the sesame dressing I think. The katsu pork cutlets were light in batter and crunchy.

I always love coming here. Service is very quick. Having different order slips helps pay separately if in a group! The menu has a very wide selection and I always love the bento boxes - for the price and comparing to other bento boxes ive received in the city they are huge! So filling. Soft shell crab dish is great too. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a no fuss and filling meal.

We're currently trying the new dining places that have opened in The Disctrict and so far, this is the best place we've been to. We ordered Takoyaki, Buta Ramen, Fukotontei Ramen, Gyuniku Don and a Banana Milkshake. The takoyaki had a bit of a crispy skin to it which we liked as we were not really a fan of the mushy ones we use to get from other places. The Buta Ramen had the right amount of spiciness to it and the soup was very flavourful. We'd say that the serving of the rice bowl, Gyuniku Don, was huge as I was not able to finish it in one go and had to take half of it home. The beef was soft and suprisingly, the noodles that was mixed with it wasn't bad. There's this orange vegetable, which I think were carrots, mixed with the rice bowl but I didn't really like it's flavor as it tasted too strong for me even I have already mixed it with the rest of the ingredients. I ended up removing it but I guess this is just a preference of mine. I wasn't able to taste the Fukotontei Ramen as it wasn't shared to me but it was finished really quickly without any leftovers. I was told the soup, meat and noodles were good. Overall, the place is good and we will definitely come back if we have ramen cravings.

Plenty of choices from rice to noodle dishes if one can’t decide at the beginning. The spicy gyutan don is yummy, on par with Menya’s if slightly better. The Katsu bento was nice too but if they could make it like how they do it at Tonkatsu by Ma Maison that would be gold!

The noodles were quite nice as they were not over cooked and still had a bit of chew. Meat was lovely. Soup was good but lacked a bit of maybe richness in the flavour.

On a visit to Costco with the better half decided to check out the latest improvements on The District. Decided to have a late lunch at Fukutontei and was very pleased with the food and service. Will be back when we catch a movie.

I'm so glad it's finally reopened after so long. This is now one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Melbourne. The food exceeds my expectations. Everything I ordered tasted perfect. The portion is very generous. The fried oysters and the katsu pork tasted amazing. Will definitely come back.

Decent ramen. It'd be good if we could dine in. Was wondering what it'd be like as we go past often during lockdown. I had karrage and my partner the spicy. Both delicious and left full.

After a long day, found this place. Firstly an iced tea made me calm and soothing. Coming to entree’s we ordered prawns and chicken skewers server with side salad. For mains we ordered chicken fried rice and signature ramen bowl with pork belly. Both are absolutely tasty. The quantities of the food is really good. Though the restaurant is busy, there is not much waiting for food. We ordered and within no time our food arrived. Staff are friendly and provided good service despite being busy.
