Having been fans of the original Co Do in Richmond for many years, we were looking forward to trying the food at their sister store in Springvale. It did not disappoint!
We had:
Banh Xeo - this was probably one of the best Vietnamese pancakes we have had in Melbourne. It came with an abundance of fresh vegetables to roll the crispy pancake in and the fish sauce was delectably divine. It could have done with slightly more fillings but the pancake itself was nice and savoury.
Bun bo hue and rare beef pho - both were very generous in size. The soup was not super hot which made it a bit difficult for the beef slices to be cooked. Both were tasty bowls of noodles though.
The young man serving us was really friendly and cheerful. This really added to the experience. A very nice weekend lunch was had by all.
I have eaten a couple of times here. It's not the cheapest in Springvale but worth the money since it is a good quality ingredients. Taste has never been disappointing. Extensive menu to explore
Clean and welcoming place. Staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations.
We had the #2 special, the broken rice and the Vietnamese pancake for two.
All were very delicious.
I definitely recommend this place.
I strongly recommend its herbal duck egg noodle soup. Was flavorful and duck was stewed long till its meat is so tender. I had its hoc plum juice which is sweet and rich of Vitamin C. Price is reasonable and lady boss is friendly too. Place is clean and confy
Best BBH ( Bún Bò Huế ) in Springvale!! They currently also have an oxtail version, where you get the oxtail instead of the pork hock! I didn't mind it. But what I love the most is the soup for the BBH. Full of flavour and if, like me, you can never have enough chilli, they have yummy chilli oil for you to add to your bowl.
Yummy pho! One of the better soups around. Do try the Co Do specials too. Serving size is spot on. Ice coffee is delicious. High chairs available, and friendly, quick service.
Marks are given for the smoothing music and nice interior decor for a Vietnamese restaurant in the Springvale area. It's less central too so it was less crowded here. The bun rieu and bun bo hue I had were both very well done and value for money. Only downside are the the staff who look like they don't want to serve you and not even a thank-you after payment. The food itself I would come back for though.
Co Do 2 is one of a few restaurants that specialise in the Vietnamese noodle dish known as Bún bò Huế. The noodle dish which uses rice noodles served in a spicy and fragrant broth made with beef, chilli, lemongrass and other aromatics has been gaining popularity around Melbourne for a while now.
Me and my small family had a weekend lunch here. We were lucky to get a seat inside, as during lunch time this place was pretty packed.
Ordered a crispy chicken with tomato rice, BBH, special beef pho, chicken pho, three colors and durian smoothie for dessert.
I had a bite on everything we ordered, and I have to say everything was delicious. The noodle was cooked beautifully, great broth and plenty of meat.
Crispy chicken had a good crunch on the skin. Hubby loved the durian smoothie. He said it was the best he ever had. I didn't try it as I don't eat that 'smell like hell but taste like heaven' fruit. 😄
But I can see the smoothie had a good consistency and looked pretty thick. And not to mention that pungent smell... 😉
Will definitely come back to try their other menu.
One of the best places you can go to for Vietnamese soups and specifically, bun bo hue. Broth has a great depth of flavour, perfect balance of spicy, meaty and herb flavour. Meat is always well braised and very tender. Great mix of herbs and condiments.
Order: Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet / Chili Beef Soup with Pork Hock. The best tasting Bun Bo Hue (BBH) I have discovered so far in Melbourne. Not far away from how they make it in Vietnam and definitely brings forth the authentic taste. Although the broth could have been more savoury. The portion is huge, includes a lot of meat, vegetables etc. You get a lot of food for what you pay. This time I ordered via UberEats, the food came well prepared, hot and on time. Highly recommended!Pro tip: Reheat the meat, noodles and soup in a pot (seperate the vegetables and add it afterwards when poured over to a bowl. This will for sure establish the same standard as in the restaurant.
Very authentic vietnamese dishes. A hidden gem in the busy shopping center quiet corner but the food are absolutely shining.
Fried prawn ball, vermicelli & bun bo hue are my favorites!
I really enjoy the bun bo hue here - the flavours are clean and they give you alot of meat and condiments unlike some restaurants . I had a few other dishes here and all very nice
This place was recommended by our Vietnamese friend and you know the locals recommendation can never disappoint you😇 Vietnam pancake was a new dish to us, and it was crunchy, healthy and fun to eat. We recommend you ask how to eat it since it might look quite confusing in the beginning! Bun bo hue was inexpensive and big🤤 clean interior and nice staff. I would definitely go there again!
Excellent food and customer service. We grabbed the bun bo hue and pho dac biet. Bbh tasted super authentic, noodles were cooked to perfection, broth was tasty and balanced. Pho was very much the same, very aromatic.
I wish the food was a tad less salty, but not a huge issue, very common in Vietnamese restaurants.
I was getting bored of Vietnamese restaurant food in Springvale but co do 2 has reignited my love for it! Thanks guys, we will be back.
Came here for their bun bo hue which is their signature dish. It was loaded with all types of meats, slices of beef brisket and pork, blood cube, pork hock and a variety of cha lua. Very generous and satisfying. The broth was decent but lacked what a lot of people enjoy it for, spiciness. Although you get a dab of chilli oil on top which made it fragrant it lacked intensity and I'm not usually a chilli type of person.
'Cleaner' outfit for Springvale and I was suprised it was so busy for that side of town. Could do with some sort of serviette dispenser because our table wasn't properly serviced.
Things have begun to settle at this place, when we ate there when they first opened the food was delicious. Imfamous for good Bun Bo Hue, it has slowly become the norm. Still packs a punch, however we miss the days where it was really good Bun Bo Hue!
Haven't tried their other dishes on the menu beside from Viet coffee and bbh but I got to say they still lack the original Richmond co do which I put as one of the best in Melbourne or probably Australia. For the time being they are a lot better then most of the other bbh in springvale.
Very nice Bun Bu Hue, I have tried other dishes, Pho, Broken rice or the cold dish vermicelli, not worth trying.
This is the place to eat Bun Bu Hue, don't order any other type dishes
The spicy beef noodle soup is so yummy, it makes me come to enjoy it every week, soup is hot enough and beef slices are thin and fresh, taste yummy !
Normally I'm not a bbh person but this place does it well that makes me always want to go back. They have other dishes as well but bbh is their specialty. Check out their durian smoothies. In love with their banh canh cua!
Been here four times. Very happy with the service, interior design and food. My favourite is the bún bo hue. Yummy, good portion and well priced. Planning to eat here often.
Came here for dinner tonight as we always feel like something soupy. We ordered bun rieu and bun bo hue both of which were very delicious. The servings were substantial and both soups were very flavoursome. Service was good. Would come back to try other menu items.
Co Do 2 is easily located on Springvale Road with plenty of street parking nearby. Springvale is home to quite a few Vietnamese restaurants and Co Do 2 is much the same. While they have a wide variety of vietnamese dishes, Bún Bò Huế is their specialty dish, as noted in the signage.
Check out the review of Co Do 2 in the blog post below.
Order Number 77. BANH CANH CUA - Dropped rice noodle soup with crab meat. The best vietnamese noodle dish i have had in Melbourne. So delicious, thick, filling & flavoursome. Quite a popular dish here. WILL DEFINITELY RETURN!
To me, this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Springvale. Nice place, very clean, a plenty of dishes and very tasty. The Vietnamese dishes are exactly style of Vietnamese. The desserts are very yummy. There are also have Chinese dishes as well. Finally, the staffs are very nice.
Delicious comfort food, especially on a cold night. Loved the fragrant bun bo hue. Definitely would encourage more people to go and check it out because you're missing out on this amazing broth. Definitely deserves more attention, so don't let the location and road works deter you from giving this restaurant a visit. My go-to for Bun Bo Hue!
Great Vietnamese noodle shop. I had on a of their special spicy noodle soup with the lot (jelly, fish cake, pork, sliced meat)
Can't go wrong with the selection.
Very accommodating as well. We turned up with 12 people and the owner is happy to shifted the table to fit us.
I always order Banh Xeo and Ba la lot here
The only restaurant in Springvale where I really like the ambiance and feel.
Out of all the vietnamese restaurants I've been to, they serve the biggest portion of fresh lettuce and herbs (dishes that come with it)
DO try their banh xeo.
Don't get their beef skewers (nothing flavourful, just stir fried beef)
GREAT PLACE 👍
The restaurant offers an extensive menu. Their signature dish is 'Bun bo Hue' served with broth which comes with authentic flavours and full of toppings. Very reasonable prices, big serving portions. The dining space is not too big but tidy and cosy. What I particularly like about this place is their wonderful friendly staff.
Ordered takeaway crispy chicken spare ribs with rice - the chicken was so crispy and well seasoned, it also came with a side of sweet chilli dipping sauce. Rice was also compact. (Shredded pork not included)
Ordered for takeaway. Their bun bo hue is nice. The noodles that they use is very authentic and can’t find from any other Vietnamese resto so far. Feel a bit thirsty after finished though.
Busy, popular lunch place. Ordered the pho with tendons and beef. Generous serving. The soup base itself could do with more flavour. Would definitely come back again when not as noisy as menu has quite a number of yummy options.
