I was walking past and to my surprise this cafe was open.
So I had a latte which was quite good. There was some great milk froth, the coffee had a nicw flavour but for me personally I would have liked a stronger coffee as I thought all their coffees were double shots. That may have changed.
Other than that this is still a good cafe.

I had a piccolo latte here this morning. The service was lovely, really friendly people.
Nice flavoured coffee, but it was a bit gritty, as I ate ground coffee beans at the end of my coffee. First world problems lol
Other than that this was a nice little place and the till is close to the door which is why there appears to be a line out the door. Clever marketing!
They didn't offer lids on their t/a coffees which I thought was interesting and a great idea as I prefer not to get a lid.
I'll be back.
I don’t like the fact that Market Lane only serves dairy milk but overall, the coffee is generally good and pretty consistent and the service is nice, so I rate it.
I love the ethos of market lane, and the coffee is always great.
Great spot to grab your daily coffee. One of the most popular coffee shops in Melbourne and a must try! Beware only coffee is served. There is no mocha or hot chocolate.
This is a relatively new coffee house and it is always busy when I walk past. Today I took the plunge and the que was about 12 people deep, but seriously it only took about 5 minutes before I walked out with my
coffee, so I definitely can’t complain. The reason it probably moves so fast is that they only do one type of milk……full cream, so if you are lactose sensitive, you will have to opt for a long black.
I asked for a strong latte and that is what I got, it was very creamy and not bitter. I also had a sip after it had gone cold and it was delicious, I think a revisit for an iced coffee is on the cards and also grab a roll, they looked fresh and tasty.

I've been here a few times recently and the coffee has been consistently good (albeit strong, but still enjoyable). It's been busy each time I have visited and I've had to wait around 10 minutes for my latte (which I don't mind, but it's worth noting if you're running late for work).
Market Lane is a little different in that that you have to add your own take-away lid/sugar. Also - no skim milk or soy options, only "organic" full cream (whatever that means...)
The cafe is minimalist, they offer EFTPOS with no minimum and the staff are generally friendly.
Had a piccolo and a rhubarb crumble tart here after an appointment with the periodontist nearby (felt I deserved it). Service was friendly. When I asked for a fork with my tart because I can't use my front teeth, I got offered a knife as well. Picollo was good. Price is steep though, $4 for the coffee. Tart I think was normal with $4,80? I never take sweets so not sure.
Incredible coffee (probably the best I've had in Melbourne), with the perfect amount of coffee to milk ratio. I hate it when cafes give me too much milk in my coffee, which is where it loses it's bite. Market Lane does not fail in this department! They could afford to have friendlier staff though -hence the rating-, I don't think it'd hurt to hire genuinely nice hipsters if you insist on having hipsters working behind the machine.
Some of the best coffee served up in Melbourne by these guys. Staff are friendly, coffee is obviously great and you can even purchase all sorts of cool coffee related stuff... yum!
Oh Market Lane 😍 What's not to love?! Their coffee is consistently good, the baristas know what they're doing, the cafe has a nice interior (trendy and classy), even the take away cups are cool AND the staff ADDRESS ME BY MY FIRST NAME!! 😍😍 It is a tad more expensive then most places ($4.50 for a small) but we're talking cents now. Plus you get what you pay for. This place and its people make my morning ☺️ Cheers ☕️
Trendy and tranquil cbd cafe. The setting here is beautiful and the barristas seem to really care about coffee. However, I've had a pourover filter coffee here a couple times now and both times, while the beans were clearly flavourful, the coffee seemed to lack a depth to it that other quality drip coffees normally have. Not sure if it is the roast on the beans or or the brew method here though. Espresso based drinks however have been good here.
Gorgeous setting, comforting music. Beautiful crockery. The coffee you know as there are multiple outlets. Comfy booths x 3 inside, wire seats outside facing the pedestrians so u can pretend u r in Paris.
Excellent Seasonal expresso coffee, the dark chocolate and plum with a heavy mouthfeel, so good, best one I have had so far in trying so many great cafe, including Pround Mary, St Ali. I like filter coffee, and their Airuma w hazelnut fav doesn't disappoint at all. Love it. Giving you full rating. Victor Cheng
Beautiful. Incredible space. The coffee is perfect. Staff surpassed my every expectation. Will return again and again and again. Absolutely exceptional in every way
quite likely I get a dismissive laugh when i publicise my affection for franchise - coffee chains in Melbourne.
But can we make an exception for Market Lane? After all, its our standard that pushes Market Lane to be Market Lane, no?
Greeted with a friendly smile by a female staff, got my usual spritz on a warm day like today. I was so glad I'd made all the way up there and got exactly the coffee way i wanted. Thank you.
Lovely coffee shop in Melbourne CBD. The staff are really friendly and the cup of tea and Croissant I had were delicious. The staff give you a complimentary glass of sparking water. There are tables inside or outside the cafe to enjoy your drinks and food. I will definitely be back next time I visit the city.
✩ A staple cafe in the Paris-end of Collins Street.
✩ Really glad that it now offers oat milk for all of us non-dairy drinkers!
✩ Staff are very friendly and accomodating.
✩ If you're lucky enough to pop in during a quiet period, there's some indoor seating for you to sit and enjoy your coffee, pastry and "The Big Issue" magazine (which you can purchase from a friendly, nearby vendor).
What a great place. Went to find another coffee shop but it was closed. Decided to try Market Lane, what a good decision. Great service & the best coffee for a long time. Highly recommended.
Sat in this morning at the Collins St branch and aside from the amazing coffee the service was superb - after overhearing us talking about how you could really taste the fruity notes in our longboard blacks, the woman came over and gave us a free sample of another coffee - so thoughtful!
Nice little place at the top of Collins st. Lovely ambient music playing as I entered. One is given complimentary glass of sparkling water with their coffee, always an impressive touch. My coffee was silky strong and utterly quite faultless and gorgeous.
Service was quiet warm and lovely. I’ll return for sure.
Market Lane in Collins Street is same amazing coffee but with ample seating and a great location at the Paris end of Collins! First class!!
Absolutely loved the vibe of this speciality coffee cafe. The coffee was fantastic, a rich and golden blend. A delicious crusty croissant and friendly service delivered all with a smile. Bought a little take home pack of beans too. Images are copyright.
Good coffee, outstanding service. Nice if there's a table/booth available.
