At just 2 minutes walk from school, this was my go-to place for a quick bite. I love their banana bread. Its by far the best one I've had till date. Their coffee is decent but please try their banana bread if you happen to visit this place.
A hidden gem near uni.
Visited it during lunch time.
Options are similar to other cafes.
Tried their panini and coffee, both are surprisingly nice!
The host is very accommodating!
Services are prompt!
Will definitely visit it again!
Coffee here is always oustanding. It is easily one of my favourite places to go for coffee if ever passing the area. The food is mediocre here, however. The decor is clean and open, and the staff are always friendly.
I've never rated or reviewed any food online till date but I felt the need to leave a review on this one. Food was AMAZING! Especially the lasagna!

It was a really long hectic day and I was famished. So I chose Briscola for lunch. I ordered a Chicken Satay Panini and some juice. They served me toasted Panini, which I was glad about! It was yummy, not bland and too huge. I took all my time to finish it and I felt so better. :) The place is usually packed during lunch so try to reach early during your breaks.
I had a Tuna Melt which was to die for and also a fabulous slice of Fruit Pistachio cake. excellent, all of the food looked delectable and it was hard to choose. Stylish tasteful, geneous in portions and really good
I really like it's homemade frittata, salad, and banana bread. All food is fresh and always makes a little difference everyday so never get bored with it.
Great coffee, love the atmosphere and decor, but the blueberry bagel with cream cheese I ordered came with the smallest scraping of cream cheese I've ever seen. There was more bare bagel than area covered by the cream cheese dabs. It was pretty disappointing.
A quick stop at Briscola for a healthy brekkie of fruit salad. I usually come here for their gourmet salads and the variety of Phillipa’s items on offer, however, given that it was 8am I wasn’t really in the mood for something heavy. The vibrant cafe boasts a friendly brigade of waiters & is located just a step away from the ever-full Corkman’s Irish Bar. Not much to say other than the fact that the coffee here is reliable & the sandwiches are definitely some of the better ones around the area. Definitely a staple. .nrelate_related .nr_sponsored{ left:0px !important; } Trackback from your site.
Good. Located near Melbourne University Law library, Briscola is convenient for students to grab a meal and be satisfied. The food was delicious, although it would have helped if they had a menu to choose from. Food is displayed for you to order, mainly consisting of sandwiches, panini, calzone, frittata, salads and such. The pricing is mostly reasonable, and the service is great.
I had the lemon herb chicken, toasted, (~$10) and my friend had the pumpkin frittata (~$8). Served without cutlery, the lemon herb chicken was absolutely delicious. The pumpkin frittata, eaten with fork and knife, was slightly saltish to my friend, but was still delectable. Hopefully, the chef has taken that comment about the frittata and has made the frittata more enjoyable.
Drinks were self-serviced from a shelf in the dining area, where you could also find pepper, and even different types of spreads. Overall, it was a good dining experience.
I adore briscola. The coffee is always strong, the slices are heavenly and the staff, although rushed, are funky, polite and helpful. The poached chicken sandwich is worth coming again and again for, as is the roast pumpkin sandwich. The size of the cafe is quite small, so it can occasionally be a tight squeeze, however out door seats are available as are bench seats. Don't get the banana bread, it's dry!. My top cafe pick for the area!
Amy all wrong. Get over it Amy - Fancy bringing your own food to a cafe.
Standard but consistent. Briscola is a good, middle-of-the-road option for those around Pelham St who don't want to wait at Seven Seeds, don't feel like sushi at Momo or don't want to mortgage their homes for a meal at Porta Via (under Melbourne Law School). The coffee is alright - nothing special but perfectly adequate - and there is always a good selection of panini for herbivore and carnivore tastes. The cakes, although not by Briscola, are delicious and the soups rich and spot-hitting. Not mind-blowing, but this place delivers when you just want something quick with a minimum of pretension.
