What an underrated place for lunch. The curries here are flavoursome, wonderfully spiced and simply delicious. If not for the food court setting this store will be far more well known. Serves were generous, service was super friendly and price was affordable for what you get. What more can you ask for? A certain regular guilty pleasure spot for me for lunch for sure.
One of my lunch time favourites. Choose your combination of meat, veggies and rice, they are all delicious. My favourite combo are yellow rice, dhal, goat or lamb curry and eggplant! Their rice meal comes with papadum and yoghurt. They used to offer extra chilli oil for free but not anymore.
They serve really good Sri Lankan food at decent prices. Convenient food court location. It can get busy during lunchtime and there's normally a long queue but the service is fast.

My first Sri Lankan food experience, accompanied by a new Sri Lankan friend who heartily recommended Cinnamon's as authentic cooking. Excellent value for money given the generous nature of the staff. I'd say a meal for one would easily be a meal for two, so I would suggest you do the take out option! Public Service Announcement: Wear loose pants. :)
Wonderful, bright, bold flavours. Flavours to make me stop mid-mouthful and think "I'm coming back again and again." The cabbage curry was exquisite and the dal was up there with the best I've ever had. Dal in an Indian subcontinental restaurant is like gnocchi in an Italian restaurant for me - if they can pull this off, it's a sure sign of a good meal and enthusiastic cooking. Get the fundamentals right, and get them right well and I'm all yours.
I spoke with the manager at the end of the meal to thank him for the food because I was so impressed with the unusual, interesting and arresting flavours. He was so excited to espouse the virtues of his home country's cuisine and I was extremely grateful for his time. I'll definitely be back.
If you need a lunch full of flavour this is the place to be! Service is very quick, as you can imagine the lunch rush hour, this is ideal!

Delicious, great portions and excellent value for money. Been here about half a dozen times and each time was great. Only open Mon to Fri though which is a bit of a shame.
My first experience of Sri Lankan food and enjoyed it very much. The curries were reasonably hot and spicy which was nice. Disappointed in the desserts tonight, not sure if it was just an off night but they looked not very nice! The music was very interesting...lol, entertaining! Thanks for a good night.
Awesome srilankan food!!! Still i drool when i think of the food..chicken/goat of dfferent variety will be served along side saffron rice and believe me its really affordable for the great taste!!.i would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Melbourne!!

I usually have a group lunch here with colleagues and it's a great little place that tests your tolerance to chilli. Today, I was a little disappointed with the portion size as I usually get a bit more and not to mention my missing papadum. Usually they get this right though.
Come early to beat the queue and score yourselves a table to eat as they are shared with the other eateries there.
this place is amazing. best Sri Lankan food in Melbourne, anyone after actual Sri Lankan food should go here. If anyone's see the scene in Ratatouille where the food brings a tear of joy to the food critic's eye, that is how this place will make you feel. you must visit it.
The food here is wonderful and very cheap! My husband and I shared a fantastic lunch of a selection of Sri Lankan curries (spicy chicken, goat, eggplant and lentil) with rice and it only cost us $15!!
On the corner of Little Collins Street and Church Street is a small, but spacious indoor ‘food court’ style eatery. Cinnamon’s is one of the stalls serving great Sri Lankan cuisine. From the outside, there are no signs or displays, but the open glass windows allow you to see what is inside.
Cinammon's is a stall located in non-descript food court off Little Collins Street, in the quieter side of town. It serves Sri Lankan cuisine, which is spicy and coconut-based as opposed to the milder and yogurt-based northern Indian curries we are used to in Melbourne. Food is not cooked to order but served from the bain marie. I had the chicken biryani rice platter with a curry lamb, an eggplant curry and a sautéed onion curry - all for $13 or so. The serving for 1 was massive and definitely enough for 2 people. Whilst the curry lamb was a little on the dry and tough side, both the vegetable dishes were superbly spiced and very tasty. The biryani itself wasn't too bad either; a little dry but this was easily solved by asking them to scoop some curry gravy on the rice. In general, I was pretty satisfied with my experience, I recommend their vegetarian dishes in particular.
Yum yum yum! Can't say enough of good things about this place. I was definitely blown away by the quality and flavour of the food produced by the tiny kitchen inside this food court stall. Sri Lankan cuisine at its best, Cinnamon's has become my new favourite lunch spot in the city. At $12.9 (rice, 1meat, 2veg) you can almost split it with another diner, it's massive! Highly recommend it but get in early or you'll miss out on the goodies.
Fantastic Sri Lankan food. Been a fan of this place for a long time. I go here for lunch during the week days and its always busy. The standout of this small food court. I always go for the lamb/goat curry with 2 vegies and the flavour is delicious and aromatic with a nice touch of spice. Great for a lunchtime feed.
No 1 Sri Lankan restaurant in Australia I call it 5 star. Been to cinnamon many times for lunch and dinner. Food and service is excellent. The variety of mouth watering and tasty dishes is out of this world and their weekend buffets are a joy to behold. It is the one place where you can not only satisfy your taste buds but also enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and the service of the most courteous staff. The restaurant also provides weekend entertainment for your listening and dancing pleasure.

Authentic Sri Lankan Food. The food at Cinnamons is the real deal - authentic Sri Lankan flavours and the menu is extensive so you'll be hard pressed not to find some of the best Sri Lankan dishes. The service was ok, could be a little more polished but the overall experience was lovely. I'd definitely go back. I highly recommend this restaurant for affordable real Sri Lankan food.

Amazing eggplant. Just amazing flavors all around. Good value for money, however sometimes the food is not heated properly.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Owner Patricia and her son Michael were very helpful in accommodating a group of 22 of us ,at such short notice , last Saturday for dinner. Thanks to both of you, for being so helpful. We had a great time. Food was excellent. Retains the authenticity. Great ambiance, tastefully decorated . A wonderful find in the CBD. Wow! I do not know much about Sri Lankan food but this was delicious. The line for lunch was about 20 people long but it only took about 10 minutes to get through so the service is quite efficient. A friend & I shared the mild chicken, eggplant & lentil curry with rice and bread. For $10.90 this is a bargain in the CBD. I would struggle to eat a meal on my own here as the portion sizes are huge. I noticed they also had goat on the menu. Not sure if that is a regular thing but am looking forward to trying that next. Food is fresh and is packed with flavour. So glad to find something so delcious so close to my work!
Tasty, Authentic, Delicious & Cheap. Simply stunning authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Always crowded at lunchtime, great variety of meat & vegetarian dishes. Very friendly, the food is delicious and generous. We go often with our work colleagues and everyone loves it here.
Disappointed. On Saturday night four of us went to the 'International buffet' at the St.Kilda Rd restaurant at 8.45pm. When we went some of the food was finished and for the international buffet there was only spring rolls and fries. There were only crab legs left and no crab meat and they didn't put more crab out. This isn't the first time we have dined here. Lunch at the restaurant is good.
Mr. Sidath. This is my second visit with a few friends. The food here was excellent, very fresh and tasty.Great flavours and reasonable price. Service was friendly. Probably one of the best Sri Lankan food.
Fantastic. Easily the best curry I have had in Melbourne (and I eat a lot of curry).
Friendly service and great portion sizes all round great lunch spot.
Only slight negatives are the queues that can happen if you go at the wrong time.
Top notch family service. When I called to see if I can order something over the phone and dine in when I finish my meeting at 2, to my surprise, the lady who works there said they're happy to put anything I want aside if I want still want to stick with the lunch set, so to make sure the dishes I want will not run out by the end of lunch time.
That was the first time in my life to hear an eatery in a food court would do that. Obviously when I rocked up close to 3pm (store closes at 2.30), my plate was sitting there nicely cling wrapped, while all the hot plates over the counter were almost empty.
Food was very good, scrumptious and flavoursome. My favourite is the pumpkin curry and mind you Sri Lankan food is quite heavy, so if I am to get a set meal next time I will definitely have EVERYTHING in veggie dishes, and swap rice with rotti.
Delicious!. I head here twice a week for lunch and it's just delicious. The eggplant curry ands the pumpkin curry are my two favourites although they're all really good. Love the chutney too! Huge servings, fresh ingredients and incredibly flavoursome. Love it.

The negative reviews are rubbish, I have a srilankan background and have visited srilanka and this is place is nothing short of authentic.

So Far the Best SL Cuisine in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia. If you are craving for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, you need to visit Cinnamon's in Melbourne. We had dinner on Saturday at their St. Kilda Road location, the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The owner, Patricia de Silva takes pride in cooking the dishes herself and each dish we ordered was great. If you like spicy and tasty Sri Lankan cuisine this is the place for it. We just moved from the US to Sydney and we have visited many SL restaurants in Sydney but so far this is the BEST. Its worth taking a flgiht from Sydney to Melbourne to enjoy a delicious diiner (1 hour flight). Thank you Patricia for a wonderful job and we hope to visit you soon.
Not your average food court offering. Tip: try to get here before the 12.30-1pm rush, otherwise you will be queuing for a good 10 minutes. Not that the queue seems to put off customers. A wide variety of vegetarian dishes, and a more limited selection of meat dishes. The concept is you choose a particular combination (i.e. 1 x meat, 3 x veg; or 2 x meat, 2 x veg - priced accordingly) and choose from the bain-marie. Rice, naan and pappadum also generally included in the price. I tried the chicken tandoori with dahl and carrots in coconut milk. It was a massive plate for $10.50, including a generous serve of rice, plus chutney and a pappadum. I really enjoyed it but it's a huge meal for lunch so I probably wouldn't do it too often.
Everyone's tucking into it. Stunning. I couldn't believe the amount of food I got for $12.90 - the combo meal deal. She just kept piling it on and pretty soon the square plate was brimming. Yellow rice... beef curry... curried lentils... curried carrots... chutney... roti... papadum... and a can of Coke. $12.90.
Although one of three stalls in a tidy little food court in a nondescript office building on Little Collins St, Cinnamon's is not to be scoffed at. Their food, while limited in selection, is top quality. And the number of customers is testament to that. I've never been a fan of lentils, but I would have their curried lentils any day. The roti and papadum were fresh, hot and scrumptious.
Unlike some other establishments around the area attempting to pass bland food court style food as cafe fare and talking it up, Cinnamon's let their food do the talking. Stunning. Oh, have I said that already?

Best curry in Melbourne. I’d easily eat here once a week. Price is on point, servings are big. Staff are always lovely, even when they’re getting smashed at lunch hour! Opens at 12 and there’s usually a line waiting beforehand for good reason. Lamb, goat and eggplant are my picks.
Best Sri Lankan food in the city. I love all the dishes. Especially the eggplant when it's in season. I don't know why some people only rate it 4 stars. The prices are great for the quality fresh spices used. Great job guys! Keep up the tasty work :)
