Quick and friendly service.
Very extensive menu and generous servings.
Food are ok tasting, not the best, but certainly not bad. Pizza base are quite thick and pasta can be lack in flavour.
Amazing restaurant with yummy food.
The waitress was so patient and kept a smile on her face. The bar guy not sure his name was really helpful.
Ordered the lemongrass chicken pizza , pasta, fisherman basket (I was a Lil disappointed the fish was as small a dessert spoon none the less it was good overall)
Thank you for a great night
Great food, just be prepared to wait... pizza was yum... some pizzas have more toppings then others... but can't go wrong with he lemon grass chicken or the Greek meat one!
There is just a delay with service friendly staff but be prepared to wait... with two out of the three times the wait times have been excessive!
My friends dessert (Belgian waffle) could be smelt with envy... great food friendly staff, just please find a way for efficiency :)
Had a wonderful lunch with my colleague here. Booking was straightforward and the environment is very quiet. The service is excellent and the Pizzas(Pork and Lamb) are of great flavour. The size and portion of the serving is huge. Not sure why it was not more popular at Friday lunch time, but we enjoyed the quietness, which is ideal for conversations. Will come back for sure with all above combined.
Not feeling too well today, I was looking for a venue where I could get a good feed with great nutrition - so glad I chose Wood 'N' Chimney!! The menu selection was extensive, with a huge variety of options available, and I was eyeing off the spaghetti bolognese immediately. My selection was tipped over the edge when the lovely waitress happily advised that the lunch special was still available (who served lunch specials between 12pm and 4pm? - this place does!!). Score!! :) And the meal itself - divine. Even for a simple meal but you could certainly taste the freshness of the ingredients and the size of the meal was perfect.
Service was spectacular, not only from the waitress, but also the additional waiter who also went to the trouble of asking whether everything was good with the meal and ensuring that my visit was exceptional, which it was. The desserts menu looks absolutely exquisite, and I look forward to savouring the choices in the future as well, but perhaps when I'm feeling a little better. :)
A must visit for a newcomer and also a must visit for someone who hasn't visited for a while.
I got some food delivered over and they were great! Especially the beef burger, must be the best seasoned patty I have ever had (and I have sampled a lot of burgers around here). Price is good for the quality and portion. Delivery time is ok, on time, not earlier or late.
Used a Groupon voucher stating the meal for 2 with drinks worth $90 ???...well according to my math I priced it at $74 worth going off the menu..not the restaurants error but misleading all the same
Found upon arrival that only 1 outside table was suitable for seating as the other 5 empty ones hadn't been wiped down...and they weren't that busy so what do you do?Â
Staff was friendly....starter platter wasn't big enough for 2...though it was tasty...drinks were fine...porterhouse steak in wine jus was ample enough at around 320 grams-but the side of roast potatoes only???...very boring...so it's over priced @ $25 ...but quaint all the same...overall I priced it around $64 worth...there r options around the area for nearly the same meal @ less $$$...the staff here were nice.
This is my go-to place for consistently good coffee and service in South Melbourne. I asked for my cappuccino to be strong and extra hot, and that's how it was.
With no expectations, we had the pizza with the lot and the gluten free pollo chicken and avocado penne.
The pizza was fantastic and made on your traditional pizza base. Nothing gluggy, perfectly light. The toppings were mostly placed ABOVE the cheese which brought out the flavours more. This is my new method of cooking!! I'm coming back.
The gluten free pasta was cooked well. The portion size was very decent. The chicken was tender.
The staff were all very friendly and were happy to accommodate for food intolerances.
Nice. Dropped in one day after south melbourne markets. Delicious pizzas. Would be a regular if I was from the area.
Festivus - Satisfactory. Would call this place a safe bet
My breakfast was good
Scrambled eggs with Salmon
The coffee was very good too which is the second key
Great service, food tasted good, good value too. Staff member had a great attitude towards his job. like it
Good value. The food was above average, but good value, and the staff were friendly, will be back!
I wood go here again. So although when I entered the restaurant it was dead quiet (perhaps that's what makes people walk on to the next restaurant), I found the food was above average compared to where I usually frequent. Sure, the pizzas could have used more toppings (never enough duck on the duck pizza) and they could correct some illiteracy on their menu (my favourites included 'bean shouts' and 'seafood basktet'), but overall, I didn't think the quality was that bad. If I ever go a whole day without eating, I would probably go here for dinner as portions are almost comparable to those in America.
Delicious Alfredo pasta and 'pizza a lot'. Good flavour in the duck risotto, but it'd be fair to say there's not enough of duck in it. Service is okay; delivery waiting times are quite slow.
Great service, food tasted amazing, good vibe. Staff member had a great attitude towards her job. Definitely he back. First time here :))))
Absolutely love this place! Get a coffee and muffin here almost everyday....great place to chill out... :)))
Fantastic!. Our first visit to woodnchimney in south Melbourne tonight (4/10/13) and it was a lovely experience from start to finish.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and portion sizes were very generous. Although we do not live close by we will definitely be coming back.
Thanks for the wonderful night!
Ps/ see you tomorrow night.
So Cheap... So Delicious. I came here after driving by and being desperate for food and for once we made a great decision!
I have now been twice and the food is just amazing. The place looks a bit daggy and there are a few interesting characters eating and drinking there yet I guess that's the whole vibe and appeal of South Melbourne.
I had the breakfast burrito and for $9 it's the best value meal I have ever had. Gorgeous scrambled eggs, no fat on the round bacon, yummy cheese, tomato chutney (mine minus the onion) and its superb.
My partner loves the Bircher Muesli and its a decent size. We also got a ham and cheese toastie and 2 delicious coffees and the bill was $29. Where on earth in Melbourne can you get 3 meals, 2 coffees for under $30???!!
We sit inside as we have a newborn baby in a huge pram and for me it's better as a non smoker it can get a bit stinky outside so inside is chilled, relaxed and has a great vibe.
The staff are all amazing - attentive, get everything right the first time and work hard instead of just standing around... this is honestly the best value breakfast in Melbourne. I can't believe that it only has 60% likes... !
Breakfast. Had a lovley breakfast and a fantastic coffee made by the beautiful Jodie.
Thanks guys
Impressed. We dined at WoodnChimney in Sth Melbourne on Sunday 18/08/2013.
4 of us arrived at 11.00am and sat down for breakfast.
We were slightly reserved due to some of the negative feedback, yet we were more than IMPRESSED.........................
How wrong they were ( those reviewers ) - shows you that some people are just out to critize.
Our breakfasts were beautiful, from the amazing Berry French Toast, the tasteful Fresh Fruit Salad - toped with fresh cream & icecream, to the hardy Full Breakfast, ( eggs & bacon cooked perfectly ).
Our pre & post coffee's were tasteful and well presented.
The highlight most definately would have to have been our Host - Mark and his amazing staff Bhav & Danika.
The place was extremely busy, yet nothing was any trouble for them.
They all made us feel special, especially our 2 year old son - Carl.
( he doesn't warm to many people, yet was so delighted with all the attention received from Mark and his crew )
Well Done WoodnChimney
Had dinner here recently and it was fantastic! We started with the trio of dips as an entrée which was huge and brought out shortly after ordering. For mains we ordered the pollo avocado, chorizo and prawn pasta and the weekly special tandoori meat platter. All were incredible, especially the tandoori meat which had chicken, lamb and prawns marinated in indian spices and served with tzatziki. All the meals were served with a minimum wait and the staff were very friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Omg. I'm visiting Melbourne and have just had my first and not last encounter with wood n chimney. IT WAS AMAZING. The food was delicious, pizza so mouth watering it was depressing to know I had finished it. When I come back ill be back to wood n chimney in a heart beat
I went here two days ago. I really liked it.theres enough on the menu for all taste types. I got the pumpkin pizza yumm and some dip and bread! they have lots of pastas and pub style mains. parma steak and
Nice restaurant! Food here is exactly what I expected, great flavours and great service!
Some of the best take away in south melbourne. I just love the duck risotto, can't get enough of it. Good staff, friendly service, good food. Thanks
Some people don't have good taste. Food here is exactly what I expected, great flavours and great service!
Excellent food and service. Myself, Fiancé and my two friends got vouchers from Ouffer for all you can eat for $25 for two.
We were so impressed by the service, both waiters were so nice and helpful. We all tried different pizzas and pastas and there was not one bad dish out of 8!! We will definitely return here for food as we live locally and will be recommending it to all our friends who also live in the area!!
Thank you Wood N Chimney South Melbourne
Loved the food! great staff! will b back very soon
Fantastic food and service by very friendly staff. Risotto is a must try! We went to the Melbourne Central restaurant but from what I can see on their website they are in South Melbourne as well.
Very good food in unpretentious surrounding , duck risotto worth a try, pizzas great ...meal sizes for hungry dinners ....
Excellent duck risotto, aubergine chips were lightly crumbed and not soggy, chips were crisp and service was good.
Walked into this beautiful restaurant last Friday evening and it felt good. We were welcomed promptly and the staff were warm and lovely. The menu here has something from every popular cuisine in Australia. We ordered a Souvlaki, Chicken Parma and Butter Chicken for mains and Buffalo wings, Onion rings for starters. They were all very tasty and the serving proportions were fairly large. It was great value for money and we left totally content. Well done and thank you. Will be back again..
Very friendly service, tasty pizzas and chicken wings. It has indoor and outdoor setting. Quiet and cosy environment.
Every meal was a hit with us - pizza gnocchi burger and risotto! The wine list was polite but good!
Awesome staff and bar. The pool table is in a bit of an awkward spot so be careful.
Really friendly service, and good happy hour deals.
