This is one of my new favorite restaurants! It's unassuming but has some really impressive vegan yum cha dishes. The turnip cake is delicious and I was impressed that they actually managed to get some soup into the xiao long bao which made it feel more authentic. We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded, so we had absolutely no issue with the speed of service. In fact, the food all came pretty quick. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu, especially the yum cha.
Great vegan yum cha spot in the Eastern suburbs. I was happy to be able to have my favourite yum cha dishes veganised! They do all day yum cha
Definitely listen to the reviews and get the black vinegar spare ribs, they are absolutely outstanding.
Great service and the owner is very well informed about what is vegan (almost all the menu) and what is vegetarian (only a couple of dishes).
We're so happy that we just discovered this little gem! All the dishes we ordered had a lovely gentle flavour and doesn't leave you feeling greasy or a mouth full of MSG. We had the fried drumsticks, sweet corn soup, black vinegar ribs and the crispy noodles. I recommend all those dishes and we'd definitely be back again as a regular!
This place was so clean, beautifully presented and peaceful. The food had such beautiful flavours and service was so good! Mock meats could have had a better texture but otherwise couldn't fault anything about my dinner here! Highly recommended the black vinegar "ribs".
My favourite restaurant!! This restuarant is FODMAP and vegan friendly! I have tried nearly everything on the menu, and all of the food not only tastes delicious but you also feel happy and healthy afterwards. If you go you have to try the chan fried rice, the honey 'chicken' the butterfly bun and the spring rolls!!! I love this restaurant and the service is also amazing!!!
Add lunch here, the food was amazing especially loved the Honey Chicken, the Sweet & Sour Pork and their fried rice. The staff are very friendly and service was fast. I would highly recommend eating here, I will definitely be back and I'm lucky as I'm only 5 minutes away, so plenty of takeaway for me.
We love the food, delicious and heathy.
The restaurant is nicely set up, there is no echoes with noise, therefore its a great place to have yummy food and good conversation.
Highly recommended.
Very enjoyable dinner tonight. Standout dishes were the char kway teow and Sze Chuan eggplant. The pan-fried dumplings were very good too, with a flavourful sauce.
Chanhouse is easily the best Asian restaurant in Melbourne's East. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Ask for extra spice as some dishes can be a little mild.
amazing service, amazing food, really cute and clean place. definitely want to return. highly recommend this place !! my omni mum and I, a vegan, really loved our food.
We have eaten in several times and had take away. It has fantastic vegetarian food, loved by our very omnivorous family. A great healthy eat-out option.
Delicious food, heaps of vegan options, great service!
Vegan Chinese goodtimes. Excellent vegie/vegan Chinese joint within a very shabby food court off Little Collins. Stumbled on it about a month back and have dined there once a week since. Bain marie choices are all good, plus there's dishes they will make from scratch for you: noodle soups, stir-fried noodles, etc. Fair bit of mock meat stuff which is generally really well done. Today I had a ripper mock lamb curry plus roast duck which was really impressive. Shanghai noodles also v good. Plus it is all really top value. Could hardly be cheaper.
Value for your money. I'm not a vegetarian, but I love their made to order crispy noodles! A must try place. I've recommended my vegetarian friend there, and he goes there everyday now :-)
This place is exciting and refreshing. The food chanhouse offers is understandably limited as it is a foodcourt and lacks storage space. However the different rotations of the daily menu and soup noodle and the option of made to order noodles keeps everything exciting! My advice is to try anything and everything they offer like i have. They havent disappointed so far :)
It was pretty good. As a cheap vegetarian CBD lunch option, it was quite decent. The mock meat deep fried battered saucy chicken bits were delicious and the woman behind the counter was very friendly. Will definitely be going again.
Value for money. It is hard to find a vegetarian place to eat in CBD, and the price tag on the meal just made Chan House a hidden gem! It doesn't disappoint me even with a high expectation. The dishes is a bit oily but acceptable. My friend tried the steam bun, she said it is OK, not spectacular but for $1.8, you can't really ask too much!
Will definitely visit again.
Glad to see this restaurant is now serving proper restaurant hours and not just the little take away spot it used to be. Well deserved!

Love the 'beef'!. Try the beef noodle soup! Really tasty and yum! Also just tried their Nasi Lemak, first time having a vegetarian Malaysian dish, interesting and totally loved it too :) Also, try their home made spring rolls and dim sims! and lastly, Veggie Yum Cha!
Tasty Vegetarian food. Faux meat and fish, vegetarian spring rolls etc.
Try the Sweet sour 'pork', Thai 'fish'.
Free Wi-fi in this food court!
Very tasty dishes! They made the food look a lot like fish or pork, very interesting and delicious also. The owners are nice and friendly!
Currently, the restaurant is open for dinner only.
Delicious food and a wonderful host.
We enjoyed Dinner one of the dishes we chose “Malaysian Beef” was yummy had some extra “heat” that was a nice surprise!
Great little spot for vegan yum cha, they do all day yum cha! Wasn’t very crowded on a Sat night probably because they are out of the way but the food was great, esp vegan in the burbs!
My colleague speaks highly of this restaurant and strongly recommended me to try their food. I must say that they well deserve the good reputation. Yummy food and good service. Very tidy place with classic Chinese style decorations.
Love this place! These guys take traditional Chinese favourites and transform them into these amazing vegan and vegetarian equivalents without losing any flavour or texture along the way
Simply amazing :)
Try the honey vinegar ribs because they are without a doubt the only place that will do this and deliver it so well

I'm sure like many vegans... I read others' reviews and you become suspect if their experience will match yours but... how pleasantly surprised I was!
While the food may not be 'Heston Blumenthal-esque', if you're like me and you grew up going out for a family Friday dinner at the local Chinese restaurant (as well as being a former carnivore) then the lemon chicken, black ribs, thai fish, sweet and sour pork will bring those memories back.
The taste and feel is excellent and the prices are very reasonable too.
Definitely glad I found this place, will be going back again soon.
