Thomas Findlay is a fish and chip shop in the heart of the city on Elizabeth st. Here they serve gourmet fish and chip cones for $10. But I bought a Scoopon for $6 where it also included a drink. But because I am giving up sugar for a month I could not have the canned varieties. I gave mine to a homeless person as there are so many of them on Flinders st. Oh yeah and I ordered a potato cake and gave mine away to someone homeless.

Not many fish and chip joints in the CBD so this is a great idea. We used Scoopons and got the fish bites and halloumi cones with chips which we were both stoked on yet couldn't finish - huge! The store is aesthetically presented well in an authentic way. Service friendly but a little slow, most likely due to it being fairly new.

Had chips in cone with fried Haoumi. Omg!!!!! So good. Best take away halloumi I've ever had.
Amazing for the price. Friendly team, really great vibe.

Fellow Poms, this place has opened close to the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth. ...its bloody good replica of Fish & Chips from home. They even have Tizer. If you get Maddie serving you, its even better

Loved this newly opened fish and chip store located at the prominent Elizabeth st next to Starbucks. Freshly cooked chips and pepper squid/garlic prawn and generous portion with various sauces and UK drinks to choose from. I was glad to see that they also offer south Melbourne Dim Sum which was closed recently at the same place. Will be back regularly to try their value for money menu, especially the $10 seafood cone.

One of the best grilled flakes I've had in a long time. Hard to find decent fish & chips in the city. Will be visiting again. Very reasonably priced too.

Fish and chips not bad, chips slightly too salty. However, the basic pineapple fritter was really bad, I mean really really bad. Very thick batter with a tiny slice of pineapple, even though the outside is overcooked to a dark brown color, the inner part of batter is still very doughy.

I had the "Rule Brittania Pack," which was very delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and the wait time was extremely reasonable for freshly cooked fish & chips. Chips had a nice crunch without being too dry or soggy.
The gravy accompanied the chips well and had a very good consistency. For the amount of food you receive, $14.50 was extremely sensible especially considering competitor pricing.
I will definitely return try some of their salads.

It's terribly hard to find a place where they sell delicious salads with generous portions at a reasonable price. When I found out that this humble place sells them, I came back for their salads three days in a row because it was THAT good. For $9, you get to choose 3 salads and I love the portion size because it does fill you up for a good few hours. The two ladies there are always so sweet and helpful as well! I will definitely be back! ❤️

UPDATE 10/10/16: Tried the freshly battered squid w/ chips and it was absolutely delish! Generous portions, and the chips were crisp on the outside, pillowy soft on the inside, and were perfectly seasoned. The battered squid had a great texture and the peppercorn aioli complemented it very well.
