If you are looking for fantastic burgers in South Melbourne, then you can't go past Ziggy's Eatery. This convenient corner location has a funky interior with primary colours adorning the walls and furniture, with cool prints on the walls adding a sense of fun. A window bar overlooks the busy street, or you can sit at one of several tables in the dining area. This restaurant also does a roaring trade in takeaways.
The menu is epic, with a fantastic choice of burgers, wraps and loaded fries; as well as a fantastic selection of salads for the more health conscious. The restaurant is also liscenced, and we started with a beer and a fun canned rosé. Our choice of burger was a spicy beef burger which had a delicious, meaty beef patty, gooey melted cheese, onions and crumbed whole jalapenos. Wow, this had an amazing kick, and wasn't wimpy at all. The bun was soft and fresh, and it absolutely delivered on flavour and satisfaction. A side of spicy loaded fries was also a great choice, with the chilli aioli having a nice zing, and the chips were fantastic and crispy.
I also wanted to try one of the salads, and I was so glad that I did. My chicken salad was a huge serve, with a base of fresh salad leaves topped with tender marinated and grilled chicken, pickled onions, deep fried jalapenos, feta, almonds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. The dressing was tangy and a great sharp contrast to all the fresh ingredients. I loved the spiciness, and was so full after only getting half way through, so had to take the remainder home in a doggie bag.
The staff are sensational. So friendly and chatty, and more than happy to offer suggestions. The service is excellent, and didn't take too long despite everything made fresh. Chatting over our drinks, and taking in the fun ambience made the wait fly by. Ziggy's is the perfect choice for a casual lunch or dinner, and with so many great options available, you could come back constantly, and never tire of it. I know that I can't wait to try more of their delicious burgers.
We love a good burger and Ziggy’s has got us covered! The halloumi burger was so good and so pretty as well with its pink buns! The big blue is definitely a winner if you like strong blue cheese flavour - we definitely do!
They also have some amazing salads like the diablo salad - caution it’s hot!
And when you visit, don’t forget to order their wings and truffle cheese fries to complete your meal!
So glad this place has lasted the distance, great food, lovely guy who runs it
Obviously quite a busy place. I ordered a Haloumi Vegetarian burger, Spicy Tofu Wings and Truffle Fries because of the reviews on Zomato.
Surprisingly a $44.00approx meal. QUITE expensive but their reviews are good and looking forward to seeing and tasting the food....
Second time I’ve been here and they seem to be quite consistent with their quality and delivery.
My wife ordered the chicken shawarma which was quite delicious and I ordered the ZFC hot AF which was decent but was not really spicy at all which was a little disappointing.
The chips were well cooked and crunchy and the sauce was well suited. Definitely go again.
We’ve eaten here a few times so it was time, so it was time to add a piece! Plus we’ve never been disappointed with any of our orders. One main observation is that its often quite when we’ve visited 🤷🏻♀️ maybe it’s due to the smaller seating arrangement? Anywhoo...
The kids meal is a winner - a drink chips and dessert win- win as it’s conveniently all in one. I often share this with my mini as it’s a fair serve.
The chicken salad was fresh and choc full! Leaving you full and satisfied without that all too well know bloated feeling you get after eating a burger 🍔
In need of a quick meal? Then this is for you!
Nice burger joint with a few sides to pick from.
- Texan giant (cooked medium rare 👌🏽 but burger fell apart half way thru)
- truffle cheese fries were perfect and not soggy
- spicy wingz on point.
First time visiting Ziggy’s for lunch and the food was amazing. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken and Just Phat Fries.
The two chicken tenderloins were so generous in size and so succulent. They had the perfect amount of spice and accompanied perfectly with the homemade aioli. This is by far the best chicken I have ever tasted.
The Just Fat Fries were equally delicious. They were crispy yet soft and perfectly seasoned.
This is my new favourite eatery and I can’t wait to return.
I visited Ziggy’s in South Melbourne for the second time and honestly they have one of the best burgers in Melbourne. I’m not a vegetarian but my favourite burger here is actually the Halloumi burger with the beetroot bun which was incredible and nothing like ive had before. Both beef and chicken burgers were also delicious with many options to choose from the menu. The staff were also really friendly which really made the experience even better for us. Thank you
The ZFC for the win. Actually really enjoyed this burger. Great place to grab a beer, burger and chill out with mates. Conveniently it’s around the corner from my work. Thanks team
Awesome burgers and great service. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The burger was pretty amazing. The halloumi with an extra beef patty and cheese really hit the spot. The over saltiness of halloumi is almost completely cancelled out by the rest of the burger which is a great thing.
The chicken wings were tangy and smokey and at $10 for 10 wings thats a pretty good deal.
Ziggy’s is one of my favourite burger joints. Now open in South Melbourne, Ziggy’s is slowly infiltrating the burger scene.
I’ve happily paid for Ziggy’s on previous occasions but this time I went with a friend who was reviewing this place for Instagram. The last time I went to Ziggy’s I had ZFC (fried chicken burger) but this time I had the Cheeez – because I like cheese (duh!). We shared a shawarma which was recommended by Ziggy’s and was a pretty tasty wrap (it can get messy tho). My highlight outside of the burgers has to be the truffle cheese fries – as the menu says it’s definitely for sharing.
Ziggy’s is in most burger aficionado’s top 5 burger place in Melbourne and there’s a very straight forward reason why – excellent burgers! As Will Smith would say you need to get Ziggy with it!
No better way to start the day, than with a tasty burger - and Ziggy’s is serving up that juicy beefy goodness! They make it so much better by adding their own secret recipe chip dip - it’s the perfect add on to your fries!! My favourite is the Big Blue which has their incredible blue cheese sauce that just oozes everywhere!
Ziggy’s Eatery is located in Coventry Street in South Melbourne. A great little spot for casual dining & some tables outside in the tree lined street. I’ve been a Ziggy’s fan for a long time & have visited the Balaclava location many times but was my first time at South Melbourne.
We ordered soft drinks although they do have a range of beer as well. We started with the Wingz, chicken wings with bbq sauce & the truffle cheese fries. The wings were tasty & sticky but the truffle cheese fries, oh my lord. Loaded with a cheese, truffle, black peppercorn mushroom sauce, these fries were next level delicious. I will be back for these fries, highly recommend.
We tried the Halloumi Burger, one of the best veggie burgers in Melbourne. The beetroot bun is packed with grilled, marinated halloumi cheese, lettuce, aioli, tomato, shredded beetroot & pickled Spanish onion. It’s full of flavour & freshness & a seriously good burger.
The ZFC is a crispy, crunchy flavour bomb. We added bacon & another piece of Southern fried chicken coz we were feeling a bit extra.
Another really fantastic feed by the Ziggy’s crew, consistently impressive burgers & those truffle fries need to be in my life on the regular. Thanks so much for having us.
Needed a quick decent burger. Google maps brought up Ziggy's. Easy park, donated parking fee to South Melbourne council, honestly it's a Saturday should be free. Heaps of spots. Order Texan burger, nice bun stayed together. Great favours, Ziggy's special sauce. Worth a visit, they look like they did not hold back on the fit out
Ziggy’s has been on our radar ever since their very first opening in Balaclava. Having now expanded to South Melbourne, we are glad to have finally paid a visit to this buzzing new burger joint and sampled some tasty burgers and amazing fries. Just the perfectly sized cheat meal!
We loved the ZFC HOT AF burger. A killer assembly of Southern Fried Chicken, Pickled Jalapeños, Cheese, Lettuce, Aioli and Chilli BBQ Sauce, it's pretty damn good. If burgers aren't your thing these guys do amazing salads and wraps too - get the beef or chicken shawarma in anything. It's just yum.
On the sides front, the truffle cheese fries are crazily addictive and loaded with cheese, truffle, black peppercorn and mushroom sauce.
I was invited to Ziggys last night for what may just be the most spectacular burger I’ve ever eaten. Struggling to choose between beef and chicken, I opted to customise a beef burger with a fried chicken patty and it was pretty much my most ingenious idea to date. That Ziggys bbq sauce is sensational! It was just perfect with the beef and chicken.
We enjoyed some fries with a variety of sauces all of which are house made. I personally adored the aioli but my dining companion favoured the smoky cheese.
We also tried the beef shawarma which was recommended by staff. I was really pleasantly surprised to realise their wraps are equally delicious. I can not fathom how this place wasn’t on my radar before and honestly can’t recommend it enough
What a great place to sit and watch the world go by. We dropped in on grand final eve, the place was quiet which was a nice surprise for us, although there were lots of food to go orders.
The staff are awesome and the food was tasty. I had the chicken shawarma salad, which I must say was huge! We shared a small chips which were just enough. The only thing missing with this place was shakes!
Was so happy to see Ziggy’s open their second location here in South Melbourne and couldn’t wait to try em out. Ordered the Texan Burger and chips and southern fried buttermilk chicken tenderloins as entree. Every bite of my meal was delicious.... these guys certainly know how to make a great burger.... can’t wait to go back for more
Amazing food :) I love the HALLOUMI BURGER :) I have been eating with these guys for a few years now! Amazing product, great flavors and the place itself is beautiful! Great start (or end) to the night!
Couldn't recommend this place more! The beers are amazing, the food is crazy delicious, and the good looking staff are just an extra added bonus!👌🏻
This is by far the best burger joint I have been to! Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating to tricky dietary requirements. The food is out of this world and they have beer on tap. What more could anyone want?!?! Do yourself a favour and make this place your new go to! :)
Been here a couple of times. Really enjoyed the burgers or wraps and the salads are a great option as well. Pretty much every time I've been in there have been new beers on tap which is good for variety.
If you are looking for an amazing feed, don't go anywhere else! The flavour is incredible in every menu item I've had. Great staff and service and cool funky location. I would recommend go try this place if you haven't yet!!! My personal favourite: chilli cheese fries....😈
Can't recommend these guys highly enough! Staff are friendly, atmosphere is awesome and food is absolutely delicious! I had the ZFC burger and was so good, I thought I'd come back today for another!
A-maze-ing! I had been to Ziggys in Balaclava and don’t think it could get better but this place is great! I had the ZFC burger and loved every bite. Chips were surprisingly good - I had heard mixed reviews - but they were delicious
I love everything about Ziggys!! I constantly order from UberEats and it never lets me down. The Halloumi burger is delicious as are the fries and onion rings. In terms of quality and taste, this is 10/10. No complaints.
ordered the fried chicken burger and two mixed shawarma wraps as well as chips with their special sauce.
my burger was suprisingly light and didnt feel heavy or oily. IT had a pleasant flavour however i feel the chicken was a little under seasoned but was extremely tender. my husband enjoyed his shawarma wrap. I loved the chips with the their special sauce was delicious. The beef shawarma salad is seriously delicious!!the smoked almonds bring it all together.
Great and friendly service. food came out quickly. overall would def come back and try other things on the menu
This is the second shop from their original store in St Kilda and a great addition to South Melbourne. The menu is almost the same as the other shop. Burgers are great both for the beef and the chicken burgers. The patty is juicy and not overly meaty. The chicken is moist and the accompanying sauce balances out the burger.

The Zigmac is a great burger! With a 150gram patty on offer its a more balanced burger ( meat - bun ratio), the patties themselves are great and juicy, and the bun not overly buttery or sickly sweet. At $ 10.90 its priced well and I would recommend this place to my friends
What used to be a brunching destination and the home of kippers (for me and hubby anyway!) is now a cute burger bar on hipster Coventry Street. Great to have something different and the team were really welcoming. Just opened there was still some tweaking to be done with the air con and POS and there were reserved tables that no one sat at that was strange but we got our seats in a cool spot and were well looked after.
Hmm, from memory the Ziggy's in St Kilda east was one of my faves in Melbourne. This time around from South Melbourne my fancy wasn't really tickled by either the ZigMac or the ZLT. Maybe it's just the specific burger choices, so I'll have to go back, you know just to make sure.
The Ziggy's Fries on the other hand.... good googly moogly. I could eat them for hours.
I've been to Ziggy's a few times and now it's my new regular burger joint. The patties are juicy, the fries are good and there's a great selection of drinks.
I've tried 4 burgers up to now, but my favourite was the ZigMac. It's not on the menu, but the owners made one up for me. I definitely prefer the beef options over the chicken here. The ZigMac was one of the best burgersThe cafe is small and simple, but that's not the case with the food. I thought the portions were generous and the food was great quality. The service was great and I would definitely return.
Sometimes the cheese could be a bit more melty, but it's nothing to complain about. You should also get a double spanky, I get 2 patties on all my burgers. The interior of the shop is new and very light, there's a nice mirrored wall and a compact bar serving Mountain Goat ales.
Update: I've been smashing loads of chicken burgers lately and the ZFC is my current favourite.
