Review Himalaya Restaurant - Melbourne

Booked a table for iftar buffet in the afternoon over a call. On arrival, we were informed that there was no booking but they happily can accommodate us. Welcomed well with our choice of available table. Liked the food. Lamb kofta was amazing especially. Biryani was tossed saffron and white rice with little spice and less chicken. Lahori fry fish, Pakora, mint chutney, Rooh Afza was good. Also served kheer for the dessert which was delicious. Chai was okay. But what didn't like at all is the overall experience. The poster, the advertisement on FB and online advertising says $22 per person with no asterisk sign anywhere. However, we were charged $50 for two people (a can of coke separately charged including) because of "tax and all". The hidden amount were not marked anywhere. This is the first time had such kind of awkward experience. Didn't feel good at all. Such bad experience makes feel disappointed and cheated. Won't recommend someone else. It's better to check first clarifying all the charges. It's not about the money actually, it is about being clear and your honest customer service. For those who are looking for booking a similar buffet, please contact the team and clarify with the "tax and all" charges total amount.

Went on Sunday night with my family & husband for a special occasion; the food (buffet) was perfect and the customer service was 100%! We were all so happy & full! Would 100% come back again in the near future. It was so nice to see everyone happy, satisfied, having a laugh & most importantly enjoying the delicious food 😁👌🏼

Went for Buffet on Sunday for two families had to pay $170. Food was very old may be cooked many days ago. Biryani was not edible. Chicken bbq was fridge cold Not recommended any kind of eating $2 noodles will be better option.

The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Did not live upto the hype. Lahori fried fish was average. Shahi paneer and naan were good(7/10). Lahori chicken was average (5/10 , the person told us it is their most sold dish). Gajar halwa was not sweet at all. Had a lot of oil and was extremely hot and non edible even after 10 mins of wait. It was microwave heated and bland. Rhey exchanged it with Rasmalai which was ok. Overall 5/10. Would prefer ziyka fr Pakisani food anyday over it. Plus Ziyka is cheaper.

Great food and service. Just opened so always looks empty.. but that shouldn't last long. Had a vegetarian banquet which was delicious and very filling. Not the cheapest Indian food around but you pay little more for quality. Will be back for sure.

My partner and I wasn’t to try a new Indian/Pakistani restaurant to eat at tonight so we chose to try here. When we walked in, the reception lady said hi and we sat down. She then came over and asked for our order in which my partner asked for 5 mins as we only just arrived and weren’t sure what we wanted yet. Within those 5 minutes, she came over 3-4 times and pushed us to order. We asked a few simple questions about the dishes which she had no idea about and had to end up getting the chef to come out himself to speak to us. We finally got our food. First came out the lahori fried fish which were only 7 small pieces and cost $16.50 and then came chicken saagwala which was cold, mainly sauce with 4 small bits of chicken in it and wasn’t cooked properly and cost $17. Then finally there were the naan which were extremely dry and hard which were $3 each for plain naan. This restaurant is way over priced and both the quality and quantity is horrible. Do not recommend at all and will never be coming back here. No wonder the place was completely empty around what is usually the busiest dinner time!

Pleasantly surprised with how tasty the food was. We had the vegetarian banquet. The food was fresh and the portions were generous. Love the naan bread, which was crispy outside and fluffy inside! And the staff and owner were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic meal with very friendly service. We asked the owner to choose for us, and were not disappointed. Sizzling chicken curry dish plus lamb korma. Cheese and garlic naan was amazing, also rice pudding at end of meal was A+++. Highly recommend. Note they’ve only just opened so no eftpos facilities yet, bring cash.

Very delicious curries in standard size bowls and needed more garlic naan for the table. Needed to ask for a refill on the water which was annoying. Served in 20 minutes. Otherwise cheaper and bigger portions would have been higher rated to this reviewer

Should inform the customers about the price change beforehand

Its been great to have a local Indian/Pakistani option. High quality, fresh ingredients make it delicious and great value. Definitely recommend trying it out.
