Decided to have hot pot on a beautiful 37°c day. You have the choice of a small single flavoured hot pot or a large double flavoured hot pot. I opted for a small pork bone broth. I felt the broth was bland. My reccommendation is to try the fish and prawn balls. Definitely the standout. The seafood was fresh.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
+4
My partner rated 4.5 and she found the meat and sea food absolutely fresh. Friendly staff. I rated 4 because i am a vegetarian and the source and herbs is critical to bring the favour out from the tofu and vegetable but sometimes they ran out needing to wait for the staff to refill. $27 all you can eat lunch. Great value for money.
I think they have quite a variety of veggie, meat and seafood to choose from. I find the soup base is a bit plain and have less flavor. Overall this place has a good vibe and very nice location 🙋
We are new to the area and love our Chinese so decided to try this restaurant. Although we didn’t feel like hot pot so decided to try their other menu! Had the Singapore chilli style prawns.....they were delicious. We will be back to try hot pot and a few more things we saw on the menu! Staff were so polite! Our waiter Jason was so friendly and lovely to talk to, he is a credit to this restaurant. Thanks guys!!!
This is definitely a great place to go during this bloody cold weather. The staffs are welcoming and friendly, the ingredients they serve are always fresh. The whole dining experience, I gotta say is cozy and awesome. If you never had hot pot before, the staff will guide you through the menu, and teach you what to do, so you do not look like an idiot. They would even bring out samples of sauces and explains what they are and which ingredients goes best with them, how awesome is that! I am giving them a 5 out of 5 all the way and I will definitely come back soon. :D
All you can eat for $27 with a wide assortment of choices. Superb value. Comes with complementary abalone and oysters (1 & 2 per person).Only thing that lets this place down is its location.
THE BEST HOTPOT IN TOWN!!!!
I often come here with my family, during cold weather especially. It is a all you can eat hot pot.
The seafood is so so fresh, and same for any other ingredients serve here.
The service is lovely. Staffs come around to check on you if you would like to other more ingredients.
MUST BOOKMARK THIS PLACE AND GIVE IT A GO PEEPS
Came here as a large group. Food was delicious and service was quick. It's a bit hard to find and we were the only table there at lunch time on a Tuesday.
Friendly staff, had the yum cha here and the atmosphere is nice, very beautiful theme of gold and white to create a fancy sort of feel. Food itself is amazing, and good quality imo
Visited gold leaf BBQ for their all you can eat hot pot. And found their pork bone broth very plain, despite having a big bone in it. It just had no any flavour.
The choice of ingredients were plenty! Choose from seafood, meat, vegies and more. What's brilliant is that you can make your own sauces and have unlimited access to it. And also have the option of having single hot pots with your choice of broth.
Quality is avg, and finding parking ain't easy. It's value for money.
Would only recommend if you're in the area craving hot pot.
All you can eat hotpot..I went for the lunch because it's cheaper, it cost less than 30AUD for lunch per person while for dinner it's about 40AUD. You can get two oysters (though not fresh enough), one abalone and anything you want on the menu at any amount. I am a big fan of seafood so I really enjoyed it since they offered several choices of them. Goldleaf will be my first choice if I wanna have hotpot next time, it has the greatest value among the hotpot restaurants I have tied in CBD so far.
The hotpot branch of the popular Gold Leaf is situated by the harbour in Docklands, it is all you can eat and each individual can have their own hotpot rather than sharing one large one between everyone.
I've been here quite a few times and everytime I haven't been disappointed. The interior is absolutely lovely and goes well with the 'Gold Leaf' image, golden and white themed with comfortable chairs and customised tables specifically for the restaurant.
We'd often book a table beforehand as there's the possibility of getting the small more private room that's sectioned off with beaded curtains.
Most of the staff know how to speak either Mandarin or Cantonese so it's great for those who can speak those languages and lack English speaking skills. When we walk in we're greeted and seated to the reserved table. We're given a laminated list in which we choose what broth we'd like to have in our hotpot, whether it's small individual ones or a large one or two to share. I always pick the Pork Bone soup which is quite flavoursome.
Then circle on the list what we wanted. Of course, you can pick absolutely everything and the price will stil be the same ($25 per person for lunch). It's a very extensive menu with meats, veggies, noodles, organs, seafood etc and you can ask for more if you run out.
Then you'd cook whatever you wanted in your hotpot and just eat it. Absolutely great for the cooler weather to warm yourself up or whenever you have a huge appetite you want to satisfy. It's quite healthy as well considering you're cooking raw food and produce in a broth. One of the downside is they removed one of my favourite noodles from the menu, I think it was noodles made from some sort of seafood, fish?
The service is pretty good, they're friendly and very efficient as well as attentive when necessary.
TLDR; All in all, I really like this place, all you can eat hotpot near the harbour, lovely interior design to suit the 'Gold Leaf' image, the raw ingredients are pretty fresh, some even look homemade, many choices of ingredients and have choice of soup base, service is efficient, friendly and floor staff can speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin, worth the price if you have a good appetite. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves hotpot and wants to eat more for a good price. Of course I would come back.
Came here with my friends and love the varieties of condiments. Ordered the pork soup base, and it came with a big chunk of bone inside my bowl. After a while, we asked to top up the soup, but i guessed the 'soup' was just plain water poured from the kettle. So we had to mix the condiment and put some more veggies/meat etc to make the soup tasty again.
All you can eat hotpot. Hotpot is my favorite winter food. I wish there weren't two places called gold leaf in docklands though. When I invite new friends they often get lost. Individual pots of soup means you wont ve scared of sharing food with that friend who "might" be sick. There's a large selection of meat, veg and mushrooms. There were no quail eggs though ):
There's also a limit of one oyster and abalone per person. However ours didn't look it taste too fresh. We usually also order a beer tower, because why not? Beer for everyone! I can guarantee that every time we go here everyone leaves full and happy and struggling to breathe.
Was walking around Docklands and thought this was the popular dim sum place. Wrong Gold Leaf! But the food was pretty good. Had the special fried rice which was pretty authentic and yummy. Good attentive service.
ALL YOU CAN EAT HOT POT! I am a huge fan of hot pot, especially in the chilly Melbourne weather. Discovered this place from a newspaper clipping and been there a few times since. The soup was delicious and refilled when it started to run low. Great place for the up and coming winter!
I was skeptical about hot pot at a Gold Leaf restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised! All you can eat hot pot, where you can choose to have a small pot each, and lots of seafood. Very good value. The option for sauces are not as wide ranging as the likes of Dainty Sichuan but their ingredients more than made up for it. Everyone had a great time
Great value for all you can eat hotpot especially in the winter time. Good selection of soup bases and food items. Even better with the BYO option. We did get cut off on orders rather early and missed desserts. Not overly packed even for a weekend night, which was nice.
This place has the best all you can eat hot pot. It costs $26.80 per head and you also get an abolone and 2 oysters each. You can choose between individual pots and sharing pots (2pax+ of can get half half). If you dare, try the Supreme Spicy broth with has a bowlful of dried chili in it. The Tom Yum broth is nice as well. There is a self-serve sauce session as well so plenty for you to choose from. You can order by ticking what you want from the menu and they will bring the food out to your table. As you can see, the seafood and meat looks amazing. You can have seconds, thirds and however much you want! Definitely worth every dollar.
Came as a lunch party of 14 and was very impressed by the service and patience of manager and staff. We had the all you can eat hot pot, which was quite good for $26.90 a head.
Had the supreme spicy soup base, which is very spicy (I like) and not for the faint-hearted! The selection of meat and seafood is quite good, they have a fair selection of basics (on average around 7 different types of each meats, seafood, patties, mushrooms, vegetables, etc.) There were also quite a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Orders were delivered quickly to our table and soup topped up. The spicy soup base taste best at the end after all the different flavours are infused. The interior of the restaurant is quite clean and bright. The 4-seater booths also provide a more intimate setting.
Pleasant dining experience. The male staff member was very friendly and helpful. One of my sons has severe allergic reactions to nuts. I had to ask a lot of questions about the ingredients that go into preparation of food. The staff member patiently explained to me what's safe for my son to eat. He even checked with the kitchen staff and confirmed with me. I am so impressed by the staff member who took time to help and make our dining experience a very enjoyable one
One of the best hot pot in Melbourne. Value for money, tasty and fresh.
Great service and fresh ingredients. Having been to many steamboat restaurants in Melbourne, we weren't expecting much from Gold Leaf, however we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and fresh steamboat ingredients. Unlike other steamboat restaurants in the CBD, this restaurant was very clean, it was only $23.80 for all-you-can-eat (includes seafood), and we each got our own steamboat pot with a broth of our choice. There was a wide variety of food to choose from, self-serve condiments, and the homemade meatballs were delicious. The staff were very attentive, and were quick to bring us food and tea whenever we ordered more. The manager even gave a little bow when we thanked him for the great service, this humble nature is so rare to see nowadays! Thankyou Gold Leaf BBQ for the great experience, we will definitely be back again :)
All u can eat hot pot. We came here last week, had all you can eat hot pot. Great service and the amount of food were so much that we could not finish. We each had a private hot pot, tom yum soup was really tasty. We've been here a few times and always satisfied with the service as well as the food. Definitely come back again.
Great food and price. Really good on cold winter days.
Lunch with great value. Spent a pleasant brunch there with families for buffet hot pot, unbelievably worth for its price 23.8 pp(same for weekday and weekend, for dinner it's 38.8pp) and not charge for my nephew coz she's under three.
Unlike many other hot pot buffet, it has a variety of seafood choices and everything provided the same even though it's discounted so much in lunch session ;)
To highlight, I like its baby abalone, scallops (fresh ^¥^), homemade prawn and scallop patties which you can never try elsewhere.
One thing disregarded is that I couldn't try try fish noodle as my cousin recommended. And I ate too full that day, haha.
Definitely recommend friends to go there and go back!
And don't forget to try the dessert of green tea ice cream there ;) it tastes as great as I had in Japan.
Best seafood in the town with reasonable&affordable price.
We had dinner there when my nephew visited Melbourne. I always love eating Seafoods Fondue at this place as the seafoods are quite fresh and there are variety of dipping sauces for your taste. However, it was annoying as there were 5 of us on that night but every time we ordered Beef Ribs we were given only 5 pieces. It was embarrassing that we had to keep asking for more again and again. Our soup bowls were low and we had to find the waiter to fill up for us. The oysters were so small and skinny that night. I wish they will modify their restaurant in future so all seafoods menu can be displayed/layed out for customers to select their own instead of keep ordering/asking the waiter/waitress
The food is amazing and the value is good. And the service is brilliant! Especially Frank is amazing, super friendly! Love this dinning experience! Highly recommended!
The food was great and worth paying for.
And most of the staff were helpful.
Great food, good service. Nice view from the restaurant too. Nice open restaurant too, not too crowded.
Great service and variety of food! Love it
