I loved their taro crepe cake, so soft and delicious and I only wished their portions were bigger- it was like 3 mouthfuls big!
Their salted egg and fried karage bowl was very flavourful however a little dry. I do think their salted egg fries are also pretty tasty but nothing too special, there's only a little bit of the toppings on the top of the fries, and then 3/4 is just normal....
Despite being a geared towards a food court type restaurant, omi’s ambience still gives a fancy restaurant vibe suitable for a date. The food is really delicious as well, the salted egg fries and salted egg chicken karaage being a huge highlight. I would definitely be back here to try other rice bowls!
Perfectly cooked wagyu slices blow torched to smoky perfection, accompanied by a jiggly onsen egg, edamame beans, served on a mount of steamed koshihikari rice. I happen to be one that loves every single element in that bowl - flavours that meld and complement each other so well that i may say. Its a raveparty for my taste buds!
Omi is honestly one of my favourite places to eat. There's just something so comforting about a bowl of rice with some meat and an egg. I have so many favourites from here but if I had to pick one it would definitely be the salmon rice bowl with the signature teriyaki sauce. Pork scotch and chicken karaage would be close seconds! The salmon is never dry and is a perfect medium rare and the teriyaki sauce + egg mixed with the seasoned rice makes up for the perfect filling meal. For the price, I think that omi offers amazing deals and I will continue to come back time and time again!
I’ve only heard great things about the restaurant, so I went there to try it (this is when the restaurant in QV food court wasn’t available yet). And the dishes blew my mind!
The signature wagyu beef with the signature sauce was out of this world! The salted egg chicken karaage chicken was the bomb and the aburi salmon was amazing as well! I can’t believe nothing in there was just so-so, everything really surprised me.
I will definitely be back for more!
Been here so many times, it’s my absolute favourite place to go eat. The food is very good and service was just as good. My favourite would be the signature wagyu with teriyaki sauce and the spicy mayo fries.

After a year of being taunted by the delicious fries on the giant billboard at Melbourne Central, we finally got a chance to try out OMI and were delighted to find it lived up to the hype.
A cosy nook at the heart of Chadstone, the restaurant's decor has a sleek modernity that is both elegant and inviting. Although we arrived an hour after the lunch rush, the restaurant was fairly busy. We were seated and our orders taken rather quickly, and our food arrived faster than we expected.
For appetizers, we ordered the truffle fries. The fries were light and perfectly salted. While neither of us were particularly a fan of the truffle flavour, that's just a matter of personal taste.
Our mains were the karaage chicken udon and fish tempura udon. The udon was divine, perfectly light and brimming with subtle flavour. The egg on top was cooked to silkly smooth perfection. The kaarage chicken and tempura were light and crunchy on the outside and perfectly juicy and soft inside. Portions were very generous.
The highlight though was definitely the matcha crepe cake. The matcha cream was perfectly flavoured without overpowering bitterness and the crepe cake was so soft it practically melted in your mouth. I'd love to have a whole cake of this for my birthday.

A nice, quick spot for some Japanese dishes!
The interior is very modern and moody, with black walls and wooden decor. There isn’t a whole lot of space between your table and the table next to you which makes it feel a bit squishy.
FOOD
Signature Wagyu with Teriyaki: A small potion & didn't really look as charred as the photo... Good flavour but not exactly what I expected. I wouldn't order this again.
Teriyaki chicken with Udon: A nice, clean udon broth. Noodles cooked well, and still had a slight chewiness to them. The teriyaki chicken was flavoursome, had a slight charring to it, and the chicken was tender.
Staff were pretty good, in terms of service and speed.
Absolutely love Omi as a place to eat Japanese food. The service was lovely and the food was impeccable. I ordered a soft shell crab with spicy mayo, and I live how well they poach the egg. The rice is well seasoned and the crab is just so soft and delicious. Truffle fries are a must, my favourite dish at this place. Karaage chicken was so soft and delightful as well. Water is self served. Can't find many faults about this place.
Excellent food and great service (which is not common to experience). One of the best places I’ve ever been, in that price range.
Salted egg yolk fries were so good, awesome array of sauces as well; the fries tasted like an Asian version of classic cheesy fries. Found the salmon texture to be too medium for me which are premade for consistency across all dishes. Would come again! Friendly waiters and beautiful interior
My friend recommended me to go to Omi which I never have yet. Me and my bro have wagyu with black truffle sauce and soft shell crab with Singapore chili crab sauce. They taste amazing, especially wagyu. I hope there is an Omi in Perth.
I decided to give omi another go after not really enjoying it the first time around. I felt that ordering the wagyu separate let me enjoy the tender meat better but it is a shame they drown it in sauce. The truffle fries were on point! Overall I really enjoyed this round and will be back for more.

Wasabi mayo chips were amazing. The karaage and rice was ok. I think it may have been the salted egg flavour I didn’t l like. Salmon appetiser with sambal was not bad. Would I go back? Probably not. Service was a tad poor.

Whatever you order here make sure you order the signature waygu teriyaki ! Amazing! The chicken karaage sambal was also delicious and the fries were cooked to perfection !
On the flip side you would probably want to give the soft shell crab a miss. Very oily.
One of my go to Japanese spots at Chadstone now. Would recommend truffle fries and soft shell crab!

I finally made it to OMI at Chadstone. It was quite a busy night when we came but we only waited for about 5 minutes before getting a table. The service was average, nothing amazing but it was a busy night. So I wasn't expecting a 5-star service.
We ordered the Salted Egg Fries, the Signature Wagyu and the Ultimate Wagyu with the Signature Teriyaki Sauce for both of them. The fries was nice but it was a little bit soggy. Maybe it was because of the Salted Egg on top.
I loved the Wagyu with the Teriyaki Sauce, perfectly cooked and presented. For the price, I was happy with our main meals. I am definitely going to try the Wagyu with different sauces next time!
Food wasnt too bad here but wont be judging so harshly because i didnt order any of the mains!!
Been to this place several times. I love the wagyu with ultimate black truffle sauce and salmon mentaiko. We will definetely b back again whenever we are around.

This little joint at the food court area has some pretty decent food in their menu. I particularly like their wagyu rice bowl, my daughter loves the salted chicken on rice. All the food is quite reasonably priced. A great go-to little place for a tasty quick meal.

We were invited for Omi’s reopening in Chadstone after it’s refurbishment!
We had several rice and noodle bowls which were all really delicious! My favorite for the day was the wagyu beef rice bowl with truffle sauce and the signature curry laksa which really stood out! The wagyu beef was super tender and juicy and the truffle sauce was the icing to it! For the curry laksa, the noodles were smooth and soft and the spice and coconut broth was a great touch to giving the dish an extra kick!
We would definitely visit again to try their other rice bowls!
Yummmmmy!!!! Wonderful Japanese fusion restaurant greatly situated in Chadstone shopping mall! Finally somewhere with above the standard food provided after a long day of shopping! The waygu beef is amazing! The truffle sauce can be a little overwhelming. After going through half of the bowl, it is too salty. We sampled the chicken with salted egg yolk sauce and find that too saucy and rich. Overall, I still enjoy dining in Omi.
I've been wanting to try OMI since they opened but all outlets are so far away from home. So when I was at Chadstone for a little shopping, OMI was first on the agenda. Great quality food with food court convenience. We only waited a couple of minutes for a table. The food is so tasty and the meat is so soft! And truffle fries! Highly recommend! The perfect pit stop for a shopping break.
Finally got a chance to try OMI! I was superr excited to try their black truffle wagyu but unfortunately they didnt have any that night. I did however try the signature wagyu. Very delicious and the wagyu was quite tender. Portion size was on the smaller side though. My partner had the braised wagyu brisket. When it first came out it had an off pungent smell to it. But once you tasted it it was a whole different story. It was beautifully cooked and tasted really good! For the sides, we tried the salted egg fries. I would have liked more sauce on it to be honest. Even though there wasnt much of a salted egg taste to it. Service was quite slow even though it wasnt that busy. Overall, good experience.
after getting exhausted shopping an awesome place to grab some good authentication wagayi food and some sake. I had the chilli softshell crab that was delicious and I will definitely come back the next time I am in Melbourne

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I love the dishes here - I’ve tried the wagyu rice and the fried chicken with rice and they’re both delicious. I honestly think it’s the best kind of rice dish I’ve had before. The fries are always cooked well and truffle tastes delicious.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: service was a little hit or a miss which is a shame - they kept walking back and forth in the store and missing us (in the middle section)

Wow what a interestingly delicious dish - like nothing I’ve ever eaten before! The first bite (I found) was extremely “interesting” as I had never eaten something quite like this! As I kept eating my way through the dish the flavours grew on my and I really started to enjoy what I was eating! A creamy sauce with perfectly cooked udon which were consistent with texture! I loved how sauce held onto each noodle - and the chilli & beef added extra flavour to each bite!
The truffle fries were drool worthy & the tender blow torches beef in the bowl was next level yum!
I’d DEFINITELY go back and order this dish again, it’s certainly been playing on my mind all day in a GREAT way! Great job @omiaustralia
I never thought the combination of laksa and wagyu would be so good. Salted fries is amazing with a bit of crunchiness, perfect for a pair of spicy udon that has bits of cucumber slices to counter the taste.
The Wagyu beef was melt in your mouth perfection. Everything was so tasty, fresh, and well cooked. They certainly know what they're doing in the kitchen. The place is well presented, staff were friendly, the menu was very well done. For the tier of food we got, the price was almost ridiculously low (but please don't change that!). We honestly had one of the best dinners ever, and our wallet was not much lighter for it.
I did not expect to find this quality in the Chadstone food court. The real deal. Very impressed.

Very nice as a food court restaurant! Uses really fresh and great quality ingredients, especially the wagyu. Particular love the wagyu rice and the truffles fries!
Fantastic flavour for all things considered! I had the Wagyu with black truffle bowl, which was by far one of my favourite bowls I’ve had in Melbourne (pure taste wise). The wagyu was tender and had punchy beefy flavours and the black truffle married with the richness of the meat perfectly. The salmon bowl was also enjoyed to a slightly less extent but was great nonetheless. The salted egg fried chicken may challenge the palate of those who aren’t familiar with asian cuisine, but it was enjoyable despite being on the greasy side. Soft shell crab was a disappointment for me, lacklustre at best compared to the rest. Do consider getting one of the lighter and more refreshing drinks (Japanese soda) as most of the meal was quite heavy and can get overwhelming.
Rating: 4/5 - Will come back and eat if I happen to be in the area or fancying Japanese food.
🤩I am are so obsessed with OMI that even before the official reopening in Chadstone, I had to get my fav mentaiko wagyu bowl 🍛! But having a table full of OMI dishes at the opening really~ satisfied all my cravings🤤!

To start our Omi experience, we ordered the salted duck egg fries which were crunchy, salty and a touch creamy. I could live on these things forever!
The teriyaki salmon rice bowl and chicken karaage rice bowl were prepared with a lot of care. Everything was in place and the egg was perfectly cooked. The sight of the oozing egg yolk just warmed the soul. The salmon was juicy and not over cooked. The chicken was fresh and crispy. The udon was fantastic with the beautiful chicken which had that magical duck egg sauce all over it.
The one and only negative thing about this place was the very cramped surroundings. Omi, we will definitely see you again soon.
The salted egg in the chicken karage taste too artificial for me. It does not taste like the regular salted egg that we can make at home or those we order in authentic asian restaurants. The taste is slighty sweet with a strong onion like taste. The chicken itself is tasty and well cooked.
The beef in the Wagyu Signature is very thinly sliced but does not taste dry at all. The sauce was delicious! The rice is well cooked and served with half cooked egg. The rice taste so good when we mix it with the egg. The Salmon Mentaiko is so tasty! The size of the Salmon is not as big as the one shown in the menu. But the mayonaise taste so good!
For the dessert, we ordered the Houjicha Creme Brullee. The cream was delicious as it was infused with roasted tea. The sugar coating was a bit too much. So it does not break like a glass as what creme brulee supposed to do.
Specialising in wagyu bowls, Omi raises the bar when it comes to shopping centre dining. Stopping by for lunch at the recently reopened Chadstone outlet we ordered the signature wagyu bowl and curry laksa udon.
The wagyu was cooked to perfection, it was tender and full of flavour. I love that the signature wagyu bowl included a 63 degree egg, it combined well with all the other components of the bowl. If rice isn’t you’re thing they’ve now expanded the menu to include some udon dishes, the curry laksa udon was like a creamy stir fry and worked well with the wagyu.
Overall I really enjoyed the food at Omi and give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. I recommend that you check them out.
We loved dining on the new mouth-watering Japanese-fusion menu. The Signature Wagyu Curry Laksa Udon was a real highlight. Al dente ribbons of udon were coated in a thick curry sauce and boasted the most tender and flavoursome morsels of beef. We loved that OMI Australia only uses the highest quality wagyu, sourced from renown local suppliers Sher Wagyu and Robbins Island Wagyu Beef.
Omi has been my restaurant to go ever since they opened in Melbourne. I was really stoked when I heard they're opening one in Chaddie. I love the expanded menu, especially with different options of udon noodles. The price is a couple dollar more expensive than in The Glen but the taste is consistently good! Would definitely recommend!

Well-known for their premium wagyu don, Omi have launched their new eatery, teaming up with Japanese ironchef @ikueiarakane (previously of @taxikitchen) to create a completely new udon range.
The signature wagyu was tender and juicy and my favourite was the truffled beef with the tofu a close second. Next time I'm keen to try the salmon dishes.

I ordered the (signature) curry laksa wagyu beef udon noodles. It’s pretty much stir fried udon in a curry coconut sauce. Wagyu is the highlight, and you can see them flaming them to order. Water available for free, self service.
Service was very good! It was very busy at 7pm on a Thursday yet staff were very friendly and efficient

Over 3 visits both before and after its renovations we’ve had the Mentaiko Wagyu, Salted Egg Salmon, Salted Egg Fries and Crewe Brûlée. The quality of the food was pleasantly surprising but the portions here at Chadstone seems to be slightly smaller that the GW outlet. The truffle fries was really to my liking as it lacked salted egg flavour and were soggy. The ambiance after the renovation has converted the previously food court outlet into a nice casual dining restaurant.

During boxing day, we passed the new food court that has been renovated and saw Omi, but it was closed (We passed there in the morning). We decided to come back and try yesterday.
Place is very comfortable, but there is not enough space between the tables. We sat very close with the table besides us. The menu wasn’t that much, but we even can’t manage to decide which one we would like to try. The service is really good and food comes quick too.
We finally chose Salted Egg Karage Chicken and Signature Wagyu Beef. Portion for both dishes is good. It’s not too much nor too little. They are served with perfect 63 degree egg, edamame, pickled red ginger, and rice that has been mixed with sauces and some herbs.
The skin for the fried chicken is not the one we can say that is very crispy, but it tastes really juicy and mixed well with the salted egg sauce. We can taste a very rich flavor from the fried chicken itself, and the salted egg sauce. It is not a heavy sauce to eat. A very must try for fans of salted egg.
The wagyu beef is very tinder. It melts in your mouth when you first bite it. It has a strong flavour in it that is sweet and smoky flavour. It was cooked perfectly. We don’t have more words to say.
Overall, we will definitely come back and try the other menus. How can we resist to come back after only spending 10 minutes to eat (that fast as it’s too good to be true). Price is not expensive compared with the satisfaction.
Omi just opened at Chadstone - more like Omg! So tasty, with succulent marinated wagyu beef and a 63 degree egg, perfect to fuel your shopping spree! Another favourite was the mala noodles so it’s a must order 😍
Impressed with this place. Thought it would be basic but the simple dishes we ordered were delicious. Truffle fries and the kaarage chicken are amazing! Not to mention the soft shell and wagyu 👌🏼

The menu is huge is available online and hence you can decide before hand what to order! You need to place the order by scanning the QR code present on table and pay at the counter after your meal. Service was pretty quick. All the dishes are available as a meal and side course which is great 💯 I had soft carb meal and unagi as side dish which were mouth watering 🤤
Would definitely recommend this place if you are around Chadstone!
Tip: If you are someone who does not eat with chopsticks, they only have soup spoons which are huge. So, better carry a spoon or fork from home!

Flavourful food, only suggestion would be less greasy. Service is good, interior setting is very modern and atmospheric. Would come again if run out of ideas for lunch at . :) The salted duck fries tasted a little funny though, innovative but not as balanced.
This place was very busy and lack of staff. There was only 1 girl running around in the front on Saturday night.
However, their udon soup is fantastic. Even though I’m not a big fan of udon but OMI made it so alright.
Though the serving looks small but actually it’s the right amount for 1 people.
Their side dish and topping (mentaiko and salted egg crab) were quite salty to me but my friend loved it.

Last week I tried @omiaustralia ‘s Karubi 🥩 range and it really hits the spot as the meat is super tender and juicy 😋
Love how it’s marbled but not overly fatty and you can have it in udon 🍜 or rice don 🍚!
They even have different premium sauces you can choose from 😋
