The noodles in number 7 were nice and the roasted pork was also good. I’m glad the roasted pork wasn’t salty. The size of the dishes are smaller than expected but it does depend on the dish you have ordered. Overall, the food the enjoyable and service was fine but I would say that there is a lot of MSG in the food.
My score 4.0 stars (avg of 2 visits). I got takeaway from here on Thu 5th of March. We had Penang fried kway teow again – just as good!!!3 mains + rice for $12.50 – Huge serve! Curry chicken – generous chicken, nice curry sauce/Beef stirfry w red bean paste – meat was incredibly soft/Bitter melon omelette – yum! Great value!July 2019. Service was nice, helpful. Chicken and potato curry (about $10) – 1 big spud, 2-3 bits of moist chicken (good). Aromatic curry sauce was nice, but not enough of it. It came with roti rather than rice – fluffy, “buttery” (almost oily) but ok despite this (almost like a croissant)!Penang fried kway teow (about $10) – 4 medium prawns (w tails), Egg, Spring onion, lots of clean beanshoots (phew), nice separate narrow noodles, fish cake was yum. Lup cheong was good (a bit large and could have been crispier – still nice to have it though). Overall very good, quite spicy (spicier than curry). Overall a bargain!!!
Absolutely delightful Asian food. No honey chicken or sweet and sour pork but the vegan rice option was perfectly cooked. It took a while to confirm whether the rice was gluten free due to the sheer popularity of the restaurant. No bathrooms which was problematic after helping myself two big servings of rice olbut otherwise cannot fault this place. Five stars from me
Great food, the Hainanese chicken is to die for, I continuously go back for more. However this one is really popular so most of the time you have to go before 4 to get it cause its usually sold out (which is real unfortunate). Staff are really sweet, polite and really nice.
cant believe that i have only found this place last week and i came 3 times already. Definitely worth the money. Came here around 3-4pm when they do 3 dishes for $9.50 only. The portion is huge and service is really good. The sambal they provided there is really spicy and nice also. Already thinking of coming back here again soon
Generous filling quick canteen style eatery
Ambience: The place was not too big or small, since i had takeaway, i didn't pay much attention. It's pretty chill though.
Service: It's like a canteen style service where you pick your size and then choose the dishes you wanted from the displayed options before paying. The staffs were just okay friendly, not smiley or anything but does their job.
Food: First of all, it was a huge portion, maybe it's takeaway but nevertheless huge. I had their large and the rice was a lot, though tiny bit too soft. I had their kung pao chicken, curry fish (they gave 2 pieces) and their stir fried vegs which were all generous. Taste wise I love their curry fish, tasted pretty legit to the original indo/malay taste (love the eggplant addition), their kungpao is okay, bit too flavourful and bit tough but it's pretty good, while their vegs are perfectly cooked and tasted just right.
Price: for the portion, it's worth it.
YUM: curry fish
NAH: none

Sarawak Kitchen opened in place of Bali Bagus and has a cafeteria style layout to it. You can get 2 sides and rice for $9 which is a pretty good deal. I got the steamed fish which was surprisingly spicy for how it looks! Not insanely spicy that I couldn't tolerate it though. The Kung Po chicken was good too although the batter was a little soggy.
Came here dor lunch today, service was a bit slow. Waited 40mins for my food to arrive, but the food brings me back home. Totally recommend people to come here and will be back again.
Came here for quick lunch today from friend's recommendation. I enjoyed it a lot. Economical rice. Good value and yum. The chilli didnt disappoint me! Would definitely recommend this place for those who wants quick, cheap, yum food!
Came here during lunch hour. If you want something inexpensive, value for meal and fast this is your place. There's a buffet style table with over 10(?) Malaysian dishes to chose from. For $9 you can get white rice and two other dishes. Downside is however, MSG (but it's a given), and I would've liked to see more green vegetable options. No not sautéed in chilli oil and hoisin sauce, but just some wholesome steamed greens!
I'm surprised no one has reviewed yet. The Kolo mee is really good and authentic in flavours according to south-east Asian standards of mine. Serving size is big and service is fast. Great place to stop by for a bowl of hot tasty noodles.
Fast and affordable there is a reason that students in the city adore this Chinese institution of food that reminds you of Northern China and Sichuan cuisine.
Take away is also very good as well with deliveries going out regularly the dishes you order rarely arrive unsatisfying.
The restaurant itself does not turn any heads compared to their newer site in Carlton you would think this site is not any good from the look of it, but you would be gravely mistaken. Definitely worth a try!
Favourite dishes of the night Guo Bao Rou (Twice fried pork slices in sweet sauce) and the pork intestine were delicious and came out so fresh and hot.
Awesome value, and delicious Chinese style bbq! Made me feel like I was back in China. The first floor is for hotpot while the basement level is for bbq. Our favourites were the chicken skin and beef skewers.
Not much too look at and hard to find with superb food and home made juices.
I had spiced duck and plum juice and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The menu is innovative modern and varied. There was so much I wanted to try I was lost for choice. This great Melbourne Chinese restaurant is not only inexpensive but also offers great food.
Great food, fast service. Sliced Bean curd dish was really tasty, beef noodles were delicious, and the watermelon milk ice balls were a great desert. Kids ordered Lemonades and got something that looked like ice tea but tasted more like Sprite.
it’s the best place to try out the northern Chinese hotpot!
