Hop into the elevator and head upstairs to one of the coolest little bars in Melbourne. With walls lined with celebrity mug shots, you too could easily be naughty here. A well stocked bar makes for some great cocktails and the wine and beer list is also pretty good.
Cosy and intimate, it's a great spot for a date night; but there are also spots for bigger groups. Staff are really welcoming and fun, and the vibe is chilled and mellow. The sort of bar that you can easily while away a few hours, and if you find yourself without something to talk about, you can always try guessing the celebrities in the cool wallpaper!!
Two words - BOOZY SUNDAES!
Great way to get dessert and drinks at the same time without doing the traditional dessert cocktail option! YUM!
The bartender on the night was friendly and helpful in recommending cocktails and boozy ice cream sundaes. Thank you! I'll be back!
I came here with a friend after work on a Friday night.
It's relatively hidden in that you won't see this place walking in busy Swanston Street. Located in the same building as Cookie, you walk past the little dumpling place to get to the elevator. The interior is quite nice. If you ever wanted to be in a padded cell, then the house of correction is the place to be. I loved the mug shots of celebrities on the wall - it's a nice pop culture reminder.
Happy hour cocktails are a must, they are on every day (bonus points) - well priced and the drinks are tasty. Limited selection but I enjoyed the drinks I had. Limited seating but if you get here early you should be fine. I'll definitely be back.
Such a cool venue! Super trendy and love the celebrity mug shots on the wall! They have a great range of delicious cocktails plus good snack food or dumplings if you are feeling peckish! Defs more a drink place than a food place! Recommend going!

Amazing food, drinks and service 👌🏼 Pictured are the spinach and mushroom dumplings, as well as some sweet potato fries 🍟 Super dooper delish! They also do vegan cocktails 🍹
I like the booth seating in the House of Correction. The booth area is very spacious and the padded walls give you a sense of being in a padded cell.
The highlight was definitely the hot buttered rum cocktail. It comes in a cute cup and it’s the perfect winter drink. The serving of wine was also generous as well.
I heard about House of Correction as a recommendation from a friend. I loved the bar! The cocktails on offer are made by some of Melbourne's friendliest bartenders I've met. The bar is themed like romanticised jail theme which was fun with mug shots around the walls. I had the "midnight Gimlet", a tasty gin number. Would recommend if you're looking for a nice view of the city paired with a good cocktail.
Came for quick drink. The place is really cosy. Seated in a booth area where it gives u the vibe of padded cell. Very unique experience. Service was great! Variety choices of drinks.
