I haven’t been here for a while so I called in to grab a crispy pork banh mi. The service here is excellent, always quick and cheerful.
My crispy pork banh mi, was excellent. The bun was crunchy, and the pork cooked perfectly. There was a bit of salad included but the pork was the winner.
This place is so good I could eat these all day hahaha.

This is a busy place and it was time to call in. The see was good and efficient. This place runs like clockwork so the waiting times are minimal. I’ve been here a couple of times now and on not occasions I’ve really enjoyed my time.
For this review I had a BBQ Pork Bahn Mi which was absolutely delicious. The bun was warmed up, something that I’ve not had before and it made a BIG difference. The bun was crunchy, and tasty.
The pork was marinated and extremely moist and tasty, just perfect. The salad was fresh and crunchy and this was a really enjoyable experience. Definitely worth a visit.
Melbourne CBD.Pho Nung serves up all your usual Vietnamese culprits (think rice paper rolls, pho etc) in a relaxed, highly casual setting. of the pork belly bao’s ($4.80) is a must. Think tender juicy pork topped with. mouth-watering crackling, which is then smothered with a generous amount of. their homemade chilli mayo and BBQ sauce.
Love the chicken pho! Portion was good, plenty of meat. Noodles were chewy - overall a very hearty meal. Banh mi was nice too, however the sauce was too sweet for us.
Will be back.

My friends brought me here for my birthday and the food here couldn't be any better! They served a few of our orders incorrectly, but quickly rectified it without any trouble. Will definitely come again!
Points for: good location, quick service, excellent banh mi
Dropped in for a lunchtime meatball banhmi.
The tiger roll was warm and exceptionally crunchy on the surface, but soft on the inside. The meatball wasn't the nemnuong sausage variety, nor was it the typical minced pork in tomato sauce. It was slightly dense, and the pork mince tasted like it was mixed in with a touch of fermented fish. Don't let that put you off, it's a thoroughly delicious meatball.
I order the spicy beef noodle soup. The beef is good and the soup is so great!! Highly recommend it. For me, it is not too spicy so I think is suitable for most of the people. However, we wait for more than 30mints to get our dish which is a bit disappointed. It seems like it is Saturday there are only two staff working in the restaurant.
This spot does some awesome rice paper rolls. Mine were made to order and were massive, featuring chunks of fried tofu and lots of veg. Two made a great snack that was filling yet light and fresh. Space is in a corporate building and isn't super comfortable, but pretty large and light filled.
Food - We had the beef stew and also BBQ pork vermicelli. I absolutely love the beef stew as it provides a hearty meal especially during cold days. I always pick rice to go with it and you have the option of rice, bread or vermicelli to go with it. The BBQ pork vermicelli was also very delicious, perfect for lunch.
Service - We waited for awhile but it was understandable as it was during lunchtime and the place was packed. After seeing another customer next to our table who arrived later than us getting their food first (same order), I stopped and asked the waitress to check our order for us. A couple of minutes later, our food arrived.
Ambience - I like their interior decor and seat placement. I think they do try to maximise seating space without making it feel too crowded.
Overall, it was a good experience!
Follow me for more reviews!
I have visited Pho Nung about 5 times in the last 1.5 years, so its definite time now to give my proper review, seeing my most recent visit to Uncle's was disappointing I really needed a proper Banh Mi fix even though I already had a Banh Mi on the weekend in Richmond hahaha, I love it.
Pho Nung and Heartbaker Bun Me are my favourite places to go in the city for Banh Mi. If anyone knows any other amazing places in the city please do let me know.
🔆LOCATION🔆
Pho Nung Restaurant is located on Little Collins Street between William and King Street.
It is quite a decent size restaurant, very modern and looks like an open food court lay out. There are plenty of seatings and people just eat and leave so will surely be seating available. This place does get quite busy during peak lunch hour on the weekdays (they're closed on weekends) and it is a good sign when a place is packed.
🔆SERVICE🔆
Friendly staff at Pho Nung. They are soo fast and efficient its great. Tables are cleaned promptly, food is delivered fast. When you leave the waiters would step aside and say thank you/bye! So polite.
🔆MENU/PRICE🔆
I have ordered the following items over the course of my last couple of visits and my most recent visit (today) was for Crispy Pork Bahn Mi.
Crispy Pork Bahn Mi (Vietnamese Baguette), $8.50
BBQ Pork Bun (Vermicelli Rice Noodles), $12.50
BBQ Chicken Bun (Vermicelli Rice Noodles), $12.50
3 x Goi Cuo (Rice Paper Rolls), $3.80 each
Lemongrass Beef, Pork & Prawn, BBQ Chicken
🔆VERDICT🔆
The Crispy Pork Bahn Mi is my favourite. The bread roll is very crispy with a nice crunch yet not too hard. The Crispy Pork is really tender and juicy. I wish they put more pate onto the bread as I can hardly taste it but otherwise very tasty and the size of the Banh Mi is really decent portion! Yum!
The BBQ Pork and BBQ Chicken Bun is really good, simple but tasty and its to do with the meat and the marinate. Its fresh and tender which is important. There is never enough fish sauce so always ask for extra, hehe!
Goi Cuo is great! Although I can make it myself at home, there are times we you just want to eat it. My favourite is the Lemongrass beef and the BBQ Chicken.
Pho Nung is one of the best Vietnamese street food restaurants in Melbourne. Must try dishes:
Pho Soup, Goi Cuon, Com. 100% recommended.
Will come again with friends to try other delicious Vietnamese foods at Pho Nung
Amazing place, highly reccomended. Delicious food, great service and good prices. I come during work and service is always quick even when they are busy. Prices are great for the high quality.
Pho Nung is one of those places that you "accidentally find" and you are most than happy that it happened.
We ordered their Rare Beef Pho and it was soo good! Really rich and tasty broth with heaps of cloves and star anise flavour. The only con was that the portion was a bit small for its price ($12.5), but we will definitely come back for more!

Pretty hidden restaurant inside the building on Little collins street.
The banh mi I had was really fresh and spicy as should be. I also had a bao! First time having one .
I got very surprised . I was really delicious ! I’ll be back ! 100% recommended.
Tried this place on a whim and don’t regret it! I’m Vietnamese myself and can be fussy about Vietnamese food but overall really good experience! We had:
- Pho Ga (chicken): nice amount of chicken, noodles were not mushy or over cooked but I do like mine a little more chewier, broth was surprisingly good, a little salty and little more oily than I like but nonetheless a great pho! didn’t taste like it was full of msg like some places. I usually don’t squeeze lemon in my pho but if your broth is a little salty it helps to reduce/cancel out the saltiness flavour
- Pho Bo (beef): same as above
- Crispy pork Banh bao: one of the best bao’s I’ve had in a while, the bao wasn’t soggy (unfortunately something very common in places that offer baos) and super flavourful the only downside is there was very little pork so you’d take like two bites and the pork was gone and you’d have half the bao left with cabbage and mayo
Service was great, super fast and friendly, would come here again!
The crispy pork gua bao is quite nice. The pork was tender with a crunchy top and the salad was refreshing. The prawn and pork rice paper rolls and soft shell crab rice paper rolls were pretty nice as well - enough filling and vermicelli. The only downside is that the traditional hoisin sauce was a bit salty.
Tender beef stew today. The sauce/soup must be spent hours long to slowly cooked. I like the strong flavor. Not a big meal but enough for dinner. Servants are friendly.
Gluten free is no issue here, they understand it and we're happy to help out.
The Pho was delicious and came out super fast.
It is not licensed, although they are hoping the approval will come in soon as they requested it 6 months ago.
I will definitely come back here again.
Best Vietnamese I have found in the CBD. Tofu Banh Mi is always on point and it is well priced. I recommend this place if you are nearby and like Vietnamese. Certainly a lot nicer than Rolld.
I’ve been here few times. The soft shell crab bao is my favourite. The signature Pho is highly recommended as well. This is a good choice of Vietnamese cuisine in Melbourne CBD.
Was looking for a quick bite for lunch today, and stumbled pass this relatively new place and decided to try it out. I only had a BBQ Pork Bahn Mi which was generously loaded, tasty, spicy on nice crunchy roll. It’s a bit pricey though at $8, but tasted great. Will be back to try the other dishes (pho, buns and others) at some stage. The place has got a good vibe with a pretty chill feel. The service was prompt and there were plenty of seats. Will be back!
Pho Nung is a fairly recent addition to Little Collins St. It’s part of the Exchange Tower complex at 530 Little Collins – near the corner of King St. The Dear Luncher spotted it last year but kept on walking after observing that they had no liquor license ...
I had the beef vermicelli noodle salad the other day and it was so delicious! The beef was tender and perfectly cooked, the sauce adds that tang and the serving is very generous. Perfect for a quick work lunch. I loved that the walls are covered in old records too, so so cool!

Light, Fresh & VERY reasonably priced for an evening meal.
Good vibes - with good music, real plants and a nice backdrop for photos.
Very good pho anh banh mi.
Bbh isnt really bbh, because vermicelli noodles instead of bbh noodles, and has rare sliced beef in bbh?! But rhe soup was nice, saving grace therr.
The combo menu under the item menu doesnt go together, although they looked like they go together, i was really confused at first.
Overall really nice food and service though.
Had their BBQ chicken banh mi. It was pretty good, no complaints at all. Actually a lot less dry than most banh mi tend to be! The staff were very friendly as well. Definitely recommend this place, reasonable prices and good food.
Very pleasant staff! This spot makes the best banh mi in Melbourne. Love their fresh and crunchy buns and their crispy pork is exquisite! I eat there every week now. Definitely recommend.
