✅ Fantastic variety of chicken pieces and flavours. I particularly love the “Migoreng Chicken Ribs”, they have a wonderful kick to them.
✅ Chicken is quite succulent and easy to eat from the bone.
✅ Staff are pretty friendly and quick to serve.
⚠️ Sides can be hit and miss, the Mac and Cheese was a bit sour last time we ordered it for takeaway.
⚠️ It’s a fairly small venue so can get quite intimate when it’s busy.

Visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon. No table service here. You order at the bar, take a number. Fries were good. Big serving for the price. Chicken breast was delicious. Drumsticks were a touch on the small side. Thighs were reasonable.
Service was prompt and efficient. Food dropped at the table without much fanfare. Probably a little too greasy for my liking but overall a good offering.

We liked the fried chicken a lot, the wings and ribs. Nice crunch, moist and tender. The prices are pretty good value too. The slaw salad I didn't rate very highly. It was fresh but lacking in flavour and the dressing I found unpleasant.
Luke Beaumont
Quite good chicken. Indomee ribs were by far the best. Personally I find the batter on the fried chicken is too crunchy (I can’t believe I’m saying that), but still good nonetheless. Chips and sweet potato chips were excellent. Really friendly staff and broad drink selection too.

Ordered the signature mi-goreng chicken ribs and mac and cheese. The mi-goreng chicken ribs were really good and the noodles add that crunchiness to the whole thing, together with the really spicy chilli and sweet black sauce. Mac and cheese wasn’t that bad, but with some uneven spread of cheese. Agree with the other reviews that the price here is on the high side as the portion of the chicken ribs and the mac and cheese weren’t too big which I felt wasn’t worth the price I’m paying. Went on a tuesday night at 6pm and it was empty surprisingly, perhaps of the location. Service was good and prompt since I’m the only one. Parking spaces just outside the road.

We came for a late night meal and was excited to try a fried chicken joint that is not Korean or KFC. However we are quite disappointed with the quality of the overall meal. The sauces are pretty average and the Mie Goreng ribs is not as tasty as we thought. The only salvation was the sweet potato chips. They're crispy and battered perfectly.

Oh. My. God! Amazing Mac & cheese
Spicy chicken has got a really nice heat to it and the mi goreng snack pack is ah-mazing!!!
Soooooooooo good!
We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and can't recommend it enough

The Mi Goreng chicken ribs are my favourite. I think they use the mi goreng seasoning as well in the batter which makes it really tasty. The boneless chicken lacks a bit of flavour for me but still nice and juicy.

Rating: 2.5<br/><br/>Food: 2.5<br/>Value: 3<br/>Ambience: 2<br/>Service: 2.5<br/><br/>Although the intriguing name and its unique menu excited me, I was underwhelmed by the whole experience at the restaurant. Staff were super friendly, but professionalism was negligible, as they’d sit around, inattentive of us, and lacked that passionate aura to cook. I loved the themed decor, but I wished it had been cleaner.<br/><br/>They serve a variety of chicken dishes, from regular fried chicken, to even mi goreng wings. We didn’t realise, however, that the portions were so tiny, which didn’t allow us to enjoy the meatiness of the chicken. Especially with the boneless breast, a tiny one bite chicken was not what I had expected for a $7 unit. We ordered 3 sorts of chicken: the sesame soy drumsticks, the sweet chilli garlic wings, and mi goreng noodle ribs. We also ordered some buffalo wings which we will not be talking about since it just wasn't enjoyable. <br/><br/>They were definitely tasty, but not exactly restaurant worthy. The mi-goreng noodle ribs were very interesting, and I loved the idea, but they didn’t highlight the flavour of the chicken nor the mi goreng. <br/><br/>We also ordered the mac and cheese, which was our favourite dish of the night - definitely recommend this if you were coming here. <br/><br/>All in all, it is an average restaurant, good to eat with friends on a late night, but I wish they had the passion to understand and beautify the fusion with chicken.
Eat Good Melbourne
We got here a little late so had to grab take away. Ordered some mi goreng wings, Mac and cheese, fries and hot wings. The chicken had gone a little soggy after a 10 minutes drive home but the fries and Mac and cheese were still fresh! Id recommend eating in for this one.

Another day, another fried chicken escape, this time at Phat Chicks in Footscray.<br/><br/>Set in a cosy lounge-like restaurant, phat chicks allows you to order a variety of chicken niches with a myriad of sauces. We ordered today the sweet potato fries, 5 wings of each flavour, and 5 boneless chicken breasts of each flavour. Whilst the sweet potato chips were outstanding, the chicken breast let us down a little. Great sauces sure, however the meat itself was a little dry, and lacked juiciness. The wings were good, again, great sauces.<br/><br/>Not bad chicken, very good sweet potato fries.<br/><br/>Food: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Ambience: 3.5/5<br/>Value: 4/5<br/><br/>Overall: 3.5/5

Food is ok for what it is, if a little pricey but everything took ages to come out and at arrives at different times. The chips came first and we’re devoured as we all waited for our chicken. Our Mac and Cheese finally arrived when we had just finished eating, not great!<br/><br/>The problem seems to be getting the Uber Eats food out first, which just makes everyone in the restaurant grumpy. The chicken was ok, nothing to get excited about and the chips were burnt/over fried with lots of small broken bits. <br/><br/>Kind of a let down.
StepiiGM
Good place for chicken burgers, and we've come back several times for them. However their boneless breasts were very dry and unpleasant. Comfortable seats inside, great service. They even let the three of us occupy the big sofa at the back to accomodate our baby + pram. Thank you so much for that!
Rene
We had dinner here, we were met with a cold stare and no welcome.<br/><br/>The place didn’t even smell like chicken or food. <br/><br/>Food was really mediocre for so much hype, buffalo wings should’ve been named Sri Racha wings based on its strange fruity flavour, original drumsticks were just that, deep fried drumsticks, bland and boring. <br/><br/>The only saving grace for us was the unique mee goreng ribs.. but even then, it wasn’t mind blowing, just better than the rest of the food we were served. <br/><br/>Overall, very disappointed and would not recommend.
Linda
Came here with an aim to fulfil a fried chicken craving and sample the much hyped mee gore Ng chicken. The buffalo wings and potato cakes are a stand out. The buffalo sauce and blue cheese dip are delicious. Tried all the wings - mee goreng, chilli kettle chips and salt n vinegar chips. However the chips seem to lose their flavour and the chicken could def do with some more seasoning. Would come back for the buffalo wings though.
Withaknifeandfork
We loved 😍<br/>The drumsticks are super juicy and tender. I really liked the sweet chilli one.<br/>The Mac and cheese was a substantial serving but delicious!<br/><br/>We disliked 😖<br/>The mi goreng chicken wings were the hype when they first introduced it but it wasn’t as good as I would have hoped.
Jo N
Meal was okay but not the best! Would give it a 2.5 if I could on the app. Mac and Cheese was dry and sad, chips were okay, chicken was okay, on the dry side and not juicy. Milkshake was nice though.
Vivien Chao
A cosy little venue that serves up plenty of fried chicken. The drumsticks that we ordered had a crispy outer coating, but the chicken inside was a bit dry and lacked flavour. The sesame soy wings were better in terms of having juicer chicken, but we were not a big fan of their buffalo wings. The chips and and corn cheese were average. <br/><br/>Overall it is not a bad fried chicken joint, but there’s definitely many better ones out there.
Hungry Hammy
Came in with the boyfriend on a quiet Thursday night. We ordered 2 drumsticks with spicy and sweet chilli garlic, one of each chicken wing and some mac and cheese!! 🤭 BE WARNED spicy packs quite the punch 👊🏼. Our least favourite marinade was the Soy sauce 😓 and our favourite was definitely the spicy or buffulo sauce 🥰. The mac and cheese was a classic. Overall, it was quite an average feed, I guess were just used to that gami amount of flavour 😣. SUPER GOOD SERVICE THOUGH 💕💕

Not a bad place to get chicken. I’ve definitely had better, I prefer authentic korean fried chicken. I ordered a coke zero and it was warm... all in all, not a bad place.
Natasha I'Anson
Friend had been raving about this place for months, finally tried and loved it! A great range of chicken seasonings. Mi goreng Flavours actually tastes like the noodle dish, with a tender chicken aftertaste! Best Cajun chips I’ve had! Will be returning, thanks Phat Chicks!

Early Saturday dinner. Shared some chicken, sides & milkshake. Cookies & Cream Milkshake was nice & sweet. Original Chicken Breast had a beautifully flavoured crispy top and was plenty for me for dinner. Didn’t really need a second piece of chicken but tried the Sesame Soy Thunder Thigh. Mac & Cheese was awesome, best eaten fresh before it cools.
Burgers Of Melbourne
Went here on a spur of the moment decision. Quite enjoyed it. Was a lazy Sunday and the Buffalo Wings and Soy Drumsticks were quite delicious. Not a large place but ok. Went the 2nd time and not as impressed with the take away - they neglected to put the coleslaw in the burger and we ordered honey soy wings and got satay.
Flying Forward
Bit of a small venue, but the chicken is great.<br/>It’s reasonably priced and so you can mix and match whatever you like from the naughty menu.<br/>The coating on the chicken is very crisp and has all the right nibbly bits. That just means more surface area to catch the flavourings.<br/>Love the idea of the mee goreng ribs, but doesn’t hurt to pump up the flavour a bit more!<br/>The thigh pieces are my favourite – the dark chicken meat is juicy and tasty.<br/>Really refreshing with a side of beer, there’s so many to choose from. <br/>One of my better cheat meals!
SHAZZA A
The mac and cheese is delicious however the fries need seasoning and the chicken lack flavours<br/><br/>If it had the flavours we would have been returning customers.<br/><br/>Overall its good!
Sesame Eats
When I first heard about fried chicken with Mi Goreng in the batter, I was very keen to try this place out. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bit of a let down. While the concept is original, the execution is lacking a bit of love. I ordered the Mi Goreng Chicken Ribs, Thunder Thighs, Chips, and Mac N’ Cheese. The flavour of the chicken was pretty tasty but it was getting cold and not as crunchy as it could’ve been; I feel like they cooked it two hours ago and just left it there. The chips where thick and a bit soft but the chicken salt used was nice, while the Mac N’ Cheese was decent. <br/><br/>The atmosphere was pretty hip in here while the service was alright. Overall, I would’ve rated this place a 4 if the chicken tasted like it were cooked fresh; shame that it didn’t. I would recommend trying here if you’re in the area, but don’t go out of your way.
Foodie McDoodie
Most important thing to know about this place is that it is a very small venue, and it needs to be treated like a high end take away/fast food shop. The service won’t blow you away, but the delicious cost effective food will. Feel free to try any of their chicken and you will walk away happy, but please do your self a favour and get the buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce.<br/><br/>Highly recommended.

I ordered through uber, really bad old dry chicken, white sauce was off, never had that kind of dip of sauce before. it was a complete waste of money. Their motive is just to make money, but not always. I will never ever going to order again. I ordered three types of chicken dishes, none of them was good. Love the atmosphere & feels of this place it is funky, fun, vibrant.<br/>The chicken was good we had the bites, sweet chilli wings & spicy drumstick, coleslaw & sweet potato fries. Coleslaw for the win it was delicious & complemented the chicken really well.<br/>Good quick service with a smile.<br/>Overall great lunch.

Came on a quiet day, service was quick and good! we ordered the original chicken thighs, sesame soy chicken thighs, mee goreng chicken ribs and sweet chilli chicken wings with a side of salad and onion rings. Would highly the mee goreng chicken ribs, sesame soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce over the chicken! However the salad was abit too bitter as the purple cabbage was not dressed and the original chicken needs abit more flavour with salt or other spices in the batter.

Came here because of their mee goreng fried chicken and that didn't disappoint. Love the mee goreng crust coating the ribs which is crispy and flavoursome. We also ordered a sesame soy and sweet chilli garlic flavoured chicken but the flavours didn't stand out.

We visited this place when it was still fairly new. We tried out a few flavours (sesame soy, cheese and buffalo) and they tasted very nice and crispy. The price was worth your money and we will be back to try out more!
Munch On Melbourne
I was expecting quite a lot from a place that has 'fried chicken' on their name but overall I felt it was very lacking, especially in flavor. We decided to get take away and ordered as many different flavours of chicken on offer. Original was a basic fried chicken, nothing good about it and nothing bad either no distinct crisp coating or distinguishable flavor, mi goreng ribs sounded better on paper the noodle crust felt like I was eating cardboard, sweet chilli drumsticks were basic, buffalo wings was very imbalanced in flavor, very vingary there was no hint of sweetness that typically balances out the hot, sour & sweet the blue cheese sauce also lacked flavor like a watered down runny sour cream with a hint of blue cheese. The salad felt like it was overpowered by canned sweet corn, mac and cheese was good, and chips were standard, they forgot the sweet potato fries and we didn't know until we had returned home! we called to let them know and their response was very lacking and took no responsibility they expected us to drive back to pick it up! fair enough we would have driven back if given an apologetic form of compensation, customer service is quite lacking which they need to improve they didn't even offer a refund. Overall it was a very underwhelming meal that left me hankering for Belles hot chicken even Nene's, although I must commend their purchase per piece system and choosing which chicken body part you prefer, a system I think KFC will benefit from as nobody wants dry breast or that insulting wing piece with very little meat.

We have been here twice now and were quite happy with the food and quality of service. In terms of recommendations from the menu the Mee Goreng Chicken Ribs are a must have as well as the Mac n Cheese. If you have to choose between the corn n cheese or the Mac n cheese route I would skip the corn n cheese as it is a bit too watery. In terms of cuts of chicken I felt the wings and ribs were pretty good but felt the other cuts were a bit dry towards the centre. The beer selection is quite nice and so are the packets of Mee Goreng chips to munch on while waiting for your meal (which won't be too long as service is super quick)<br/>All in all maybe not the best fried chicken place in Melbourne but quite innovative rib options.
WAG
Very tasty fried chicken. And the prices are reasonable. Drink selection could be better. Worth a visit if you’re looking for some grease in West Footscray.
Blergh!
Awesome chicken! Seriously good - who knew that using crushed crisps or ramen noodles would make such great coating?? The prices are a bit high but the food is good! I would love to try the Mac and Cheese next time.
Yuppiehippiechick
They are the only place in the area who do gluten free fried chicken and it tastes good. As someone with dietary issues finding decent restaurants with good food around the area (other than pizza), is hard. I am so very grateful!!

Was utterly disappointed with their customer service especially by their "manager" on the phone who i spoke to. She seamed to think that the blame of their false advertisement was Uber Eats yet their own. They should be aware of the fact that the photo they have chosen to put on Uber Eats is a clear photo of three pieces of chicken breasts with a description not saying a clear amount regardless if its three or one pieces. The worst part was the reaction of their manager on the phone who told me to take it up with Uber eats who was more than understanding of the clear fact that it false under the false advertisements which the manager did not understand. Please look into properly training your staff with proper customer service edict and how to respond with customer issues rather than blame the delivery. Look into studying your products and how it is being promoted on all delivery systems since i am sure i am not the only customer who was shocked to pay $30 for three pieces of chicken.

Overall experience was decent, Cajun fries were nice a little too much seasoning though. The buffalo wings were terrible, drench in sauce and was extremely sour even the blue cheese sauce could not save the taste. Mac and cheese was decent.
Ollie's Mama
Best fried chicken I’ve had in ages! Not to greasy and great sauces available. We had the spicy chicken and mi goreng ribs with Cajun chips, delicious. Would def go back!
Danny Nguyen
Average place for fried chicken here. I literally tried everything on the menu, and the best by far was the drumstick. The mi goreng ribs wasn't that good to me, the breast and thighs were decent and the wings were very good. Decent pricing here as well.
Lexie
We got the onion rings, man and cheese, 2 original thighs, 1 sweet chilli and 1 sesame soy thigh.<br/>They were delicious, the food came quickly but was fresh as, the chicken was piping hot and super crunchy.<br/>The staff were friendly.<br/>Will definitely be back!
Lisa Nguyen
Ordered a spicy thigh, 3 mi goreng ribs, Cajun fries, sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. The dish overall was a bit dry, for all the chicken ordered, we received one small pickle and some jalapenos. The Mac and cheese was the highlight of the meal, it was delicious. The mi goreng ribs were good but nothing special. The spicy thigh was not very spicy and a bit dry. The spice mix on the fries made it very difficult to eat as it was quite powdery and gave the fries an unpleasant texture. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly, crisp but fluffy on the inside. Overall a decent meal, however will have to order sauce next time to avoid the meal being dry. Customer service was good, staff are friendly and attentive.
Tris
The chili chicken breast was quite dry. And it’s literally just chili powder on it. I’d rather buy Hot Star Chicken. The sweet chili drumsticks were dry as. The flavor is not even close to NENE chicken. The food were served really fast.

A very busy little cafe. Food was great. Onion rings perfectly cooked and a good sized serve. Chicken ribs delicious. Not cheap but still felt we got our money’s worth. Would eat here again.

Better than kfc... the only thing they could improve with would be some more salads and maybe a gravey option but apart from that it's the bomb . Com <br/><br/><br/>

How good are the salt n vinegar chips wings and sweet chilli and garlic breast pieces mmmmmmm. Mac n cheese was tasty to. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

Bother! My initial review got eaten by the internet, so this as a second attempt at leaving one.<br/><br/>We decided to try Phat Chicks as they are new in town and the reviews on zomato looked good. Great to see something a little different in this strip.<br/><br/>Our meal might have been better if the uber eats delivery driver didn't take a trip to Footscray first (we are in West Footscray). Tracking the delivery driver is one of the cool things about uber eats.<br/><br/>Our meal was barely warm when it reached us. The chips were kind of soggy. The spicy chicken wings were pretty good but would have been awesome hotter.<br/><br/>For what we got, onion rings, chips and different types of chicken it was a tad expensive. <br/><br/>Perhaps if we ate in and got food straight away we would have been able to give a higher score. I plan to try Phat Chicks again.
Markie Mark
Chicken was dry. It seems like it was sitting in the warmer too long before it was served. Also had the corncheese which a lot of similar restuarants do a lot better.

Footscray has changed over the last ten years. Previously a quiet street, the Barkly Street shopping strip hosting Phat Chicks is bustling. <br/><br/>Uber eats orders were flying out the door and all tables were full. The menu showcases its speciality, chicken.<br/><br/>With a wide range of alcohols, sauces and parts of chicken to choose from, you can't go wrong. Ordering a few pieces with different sauces, some sides and pimped up ribs you can't go wrong. <br/><br/>There's no real table service here, but don't let that deter you from attending. Get down to Phat Chicks and sample their wonderful menu full of comfort food. Can't wait to return and also try some new Footscray spots!
James James
Delicious! <br/><br/>The chicken is amazing! The sides are really big servings also. Great comfort food. Yum! <br/><br/>Would totally recommend giving it a try.
MrMena
Ordered via uber eats, didn't take long to arrive but the chicken was very dry. Didn't have that fresh taste I was expecting. On a positive note, they drum sticks were not as dry as the wings and chicken breast.

A local fried chicken gem in the west! Famous for their Mi Goreng fried chicken and fried chicken in general. This little place gets busy on a Saturday night. Serving up a range of beers and alcoholic ice teas and a wide range of fried chicken from breast, thigh, drumstick, wings and ribs. Most of the fried chicken pieces can be ordered individually making it easy to try different flavours.<br/><br/>Mi Goreng fried chicken was definitely the winner! Must check it out!

My girlfriend and I ate lunch here a few days ago and had a really positive experience - we ordered x2 sesame soy drumsticks and x1 sesame soy thunder thigh, x6 mi goreng ribs (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!), a corn cheese and onion rings... must I say!! Wow! Nothing like this in the west! The chicken was fresh and flavoursome - we really enjoyed the atmosphere they have lovely staff, really captured a homey cosy feel. Going to come back definitely! <br/><br/>Thanks Phat Chicks!!!!

How good is this place? Chicken bits done every which way and loose- amazing ! How do they get the noodles to stick to the ribs? How do they get their buffalo wings so perfect? How do they get the coating to stick so well on the breast? But you know what ,I'm not gonna ask any more questions I'm too busy stuffing my face give it a try .btw it's really really good
Daniel
Best onion rings and cajun fries I've had in a while. An excellent local joint for some Mi Goreng fried chicken. The Rainbow Slaw was a tad salty.
Charlene
Very unimpressed with quality of food. We ordered sesame soy drumsticks, buffalo wings, sweet chilli chicken breast, and mac and cheese. <br/><br/>Sesame soy drumsticks - meat was just really, really tasteless, not sure if it has been marinated long enough. Drumsticks appeared to be drizzled with peanut butter paste (tasted like it, correct me if I am wrong) which didn't go well with sesame soy batter at all. We couldn't even taste sesame soy in the first place. <br/><br/>Buffalo wings - tabasco based sauce really.... just overpowering. <br/><br/>Sweet chilli chicken breast - sauce was ok, compared to buffalo and sesame soy. <br/><br/>Mac and cheese was just average too, nothing to shout about. <br/><br/>Overall - It was just not up to our expectations, we've had better fried chicken's and mac n cheese's. Don't think we'll ever return for more food. <br/>
Tina Salameh
Overall the place was okay. Nothing too amazing, the servings were pretty standard.. i was hungry and asked if 6 pieces was too much which the waitress responded no it's fine if you are hungry between 2 ppl.. we were still hungry after it. Also the food came out barely warm which is a huge peeve for me and way too quick meaning it must've been sitting there. Won't be coming back here. Did like their selection of soft drinks though.
Eating Sushi
Went here on a weekday and we managed to get the last seat in this tiny restaurant at around 6:30pm. They have a good selection of flavours and chicken cuts of your choice. <br/><br/>Food (7/10): I enjoyed the food although I wouldn't call it an American diner at all. It's more of an Asian fusion fried chicken with some American flavours. The sides were huge and you could definitely share it between 3-4 people. My partner and I are big eaters so we went through it all but with a food coma. <br/><br/>Try:<br/>* Mac and cheese: One of the better Mac and cheese around Melbourne and I've been to many American diners.<br/>* Buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese sauce: Don't expect it to be authentic American buffalo wings though. It's just wings marinated in Tabasco sauce. The blue cheese sauce is incredibly thin but has a pungent flavour. <br/>* Mi Goreng chicken ribs: They were very crunchy and well cooked and seasoned. Couldn't really taste the mi goreng flavour though.<br/>* Original chicken drumstick: thin and crispy batter. Cooked well and was very juicy. <br/>* Onion rings: big serving size and came out piping hot<br/><br/>Skip:<br/>* Salad. The salad wasn't refreshing as the dressing seemed too dense to cut through the fried foods. The price of the salad is questionable for such cheap vegetables.<br/><br/>Service (6/10): service was okay. The staff just gave the food without telling us what dish it was. Other than that, we were seated promptly upon our arrival.<br/><br/>Cost for two: $46

The mi Goreng ribs were great. Onion rings were big and crunchy.<br/>Kinda wished the cheese drumsticks/breast had like actual cheesy sauce or something. Instead it had cheese powder flavouring. <br/>Really wanted to try the chicken skin sides that were originally on the menu but it wasn't available the two times I've visited and then they took it off the menu. It was the unique menu items that made me want try this place. <br/><br/>No phone orders? Why though??
Wishar
Ordered sweet potato chips, mac and cheese, cheese drumsticks, sesame soy drumsticks, original drumsticks and sweet chilli wings. <br/><br/>The sweet potato chips were cut perfectly, and went really well with their sweet chilli aioli sauce.<br/>Mac and cheese was amazing!!!! Very rare to find a restaurant that makes good mac and cheese.<br/><br/>The cheese flavoured chicken tastes the same as the original chicken as the cheese is literally just powder sprinkled on top. Don't bother. The sesame soy was okay, prefer the sweet chilli chicken and original chicken more. <br/><br/>The wings were fairly juicy however the drumsticks were a bit dry.
Nina
Ok so I'm still in deep regret that I didn't order 2 of the spicy thunder thighs because damn... one was such a tease! We really should have dined in but we chose to go with ubereats because - LAZY. We ended up ordering: a soy and sesame breast, spicy thigh, mi goreng ribs, sweet chilli wings, buffalo wings and the mac and cheese. Yes.. we were really pigging out last night 😂. Spicy Thunder thigh being my fave! The mi goreng ribs were super flavoursome and creative. The mac and cheese def lived up to its cheesy title! We both didn't like how overly tangy the buffalo wings were.. might've been better balanced had the cheese sauce not spilt all through our bag of food. Anyway will be back for sure! A very welcome addition to the area

Off to a good start, but really needs to work on consistency.<br/><br/>They're enthusiastic and have a nice menu, but three different visits have ended in three different experiences. Service was great each time, but the food varied from excellent to below average.<br/><br/>They must be using warmers because my second order for their boneless breasts came way too fast and was incredibly dry. Another try and it was fresh hot and really juicy.

I've been here a few times now since the grand opening. You can really tell how much effort the owner has put into the fit-out. The place itself is small, but decked out in a way that feels really cosy and welcoming. Staff are friendly and full of personality, and bonus points (!!) for actually looking like they want to be there! Each visit the chicken has been hot and crispy, juicy, and full of flavour. And the corn cheese and mac and cheese is so so gooey!

was ok for chicken, not good not bad. its something different in the area. yes it did take long to get to the table. busy ... i guess so....

Crispy Fried Chicken and great selection of craft beers, perfect combination? I believe so. Fully enjoyed all the different flavoured coatings and was impressed with the selection. Try the Crispy Noodle coating!

It was a 'Jesus take the wheel' moment...all hands free a must! Deliciousness at a very reasonable cost is rare these days but Phat Chicks delivers. We had sweet potato fries, Mac & Cheese, one original and one sweet chilli breasts, one cheesy and one spicy drumsticks, a beer and a coke all for just under $50 and we both rolled out of the place the sides sizes are more than enough for 2...no worries if you took a third wheel 😊 The chicken was freshly cooked, crispy and juicy.... best I've had in a long time. Service was great the girls were very friendly and the wait time was minimal. We loved and will be back for sure.<br/>Adam Hore

This new fried chicken place is definitely a little hidden gem.<br/>The spicy chicken breast pieces were quite large but fried with good timing, so the pieces were well cooked but still tender with no dry parts. It Combined with a nice balance of spice which evening out a unique taste.<br/>The sesame soy drumsticks were juicy and full of flavours.<br/>The pimped up ribs were well marinated with a good mix of spice. And also well fried with nice crunchy outside layers.<br/>The service was very timely and friendly.<br/>Parking outside can be a challenge on busy hours.

Great buffalo wings and Cajun fries, enjoyed the mi goring ribs too. Can't wait to try more of the menu. Service was quick and friendly. Good selection of local beers.
.
If you like really crispy crunchy chicken then this is the place for you. I got the sesame soy wings, the sesame flavour was definitely there but the soy not so much. That's probably why I felt like it was a tad under salted.
KRS
Chicken was overly crispy and bland. Not enough flavour or dressing on the chicken. Would have expected alot more flavour in a place with this concept. Chicken tastes unmarinated.

Tried this place for the first time today and have to say that both the food and service was ace! There was a short wait for our takeaway food but they kept us occupied with their old school arcade games (so much fun!) They did forget our serve of ribs in our takeaway order but were happy to immediately make up for it when i let them know. As they just opened a few weeks ago, teething issues are understandable and the fact that they fixed it straightaway is what matters. My new FC local 👌

Will not be going back. Check was very undercooked & it was lucky we checked or else we would've definitely had food poisoning, possibly salmonella. Giving one star for the mac & cheese, which was yum.

Burgers and fries, ham and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs. And now … Mi Goreng and fried chicken. One of the more unexpected combinations you’re ever likely to encounter. But it’s a combination that rings bells for many Australians who grew up eating those highly delicious Indomie, MSG-laden noodles. It was as recent as last week, Your Dear Luncher demolished said noodles at his place of employ.

Decided to try Phat Chicks after hearing the hype over the mi goreng flavoured chicken ribs. We ordered the sweet chilli garlic thunder thigh, sesame soy and cheese drum sticks, mi goreng and salt n vinegar ribs, and cajun fries. The chicken was delicious; crispy skin and jooocy tender meat. It wasn't drowned in sauce either, which was a real plus for me personally. They gave a generous serving of cajun chips, which were top notch as well.<br/><br/>Great place, would come again.<br/><br/>

Been looking forward to this place opening, the first time we went it was closed even though we saw reviews. <br/>Migoreng and salt and vinegar chips flavoured ribs are definitely worth a try! <br/>One of the best fried chicken places we've tried <br/>

Amazing chicken, good value, lots of beers! <br/>Quiet and cozy atmosphere! It's nice to have a good fried chicken spot in the west. The buffalo wings were tangy and spicy, just perfect. Staff was attentive and food was very quick and hot when it arrived at our table :)

I like being able to order thighs, ribs , wings, drumsticks or breasts! I'm all about the thigh and wing and I went for lunch with a breast-only man, we both got exactly what we wanted! They had Footscray ale and a hop-house pale on tap which were both good (the hop-house was actually less hoppy in flavour.) the plain chicken was nicely seasoned and served with a couple of cornichons, the buffalo wings had a nice vinegar tang and weren't half as hot as the spicy chicken. This place is good and hardly more expensive than the very much inferior KFC just down the road.

Disappointed!! First time I went there, they forgot a serving of chicken wings... second time, they forgot my sauces... third time... well never going to be a third time!<br/><br/>Takeaway said it was going to be 30 min... 50 min later I had to remind them. And when I received my food, it was cold and dry (see attached)<br/><br/>Lift your game guys!<br/><br/>

Coating on dem ribs.. If americans can use corn flakes to fry chicken why cant asians do mi goreng. Also nothing like this in the westside.. All the best

I went here today around 3pm probably not a smart time to go? (Not sure) because chicken seemed like they were kept in a warmer or something, as there was no crispiness to the batter and the chicken wasn't piping hot and tender inside.<br/><br/>However service was great, the girls there are amazing with there service which I will rate 5 alone!<br/><br/>Cajun fries was the highlight, flavors were there e couldn't get enough of them.<br/><br/>All the chicken variations were a let down because it felt like chicken was kept warm as the batter was hard and chicken wasn't nice to eat, however I did come there around 3pm so I might of got the "end of arvo food"<br/><br/>I'll try again next time.<br/><br/>The Buffalo wings seemed like it was soaked in Tabasco mixture of vinegar (tasting) sauce that you are suppose to dip in blue cheese couldn't do it was too weird for my liking.<br/><br/>Wasnt't impressed with the flavor combination of any of the varieties. I'll give it another shot on a busier night.

Loved it!!! The chicken was hot, fresh and tasty! Had the original thunder thighs, mee goreng ribs and salt and vinegar ribs.... all amazing, fav being the mee goreng!<br/>Had fries and mac n cheese as our sides and they were both delish! Great drinks selection, fast and friendly service... couldn't fault it! Will be coming back again, and again, and again!!

Looooved Phat Chicks! We went with a group of 6 on a Thursday and it was busy but they seated us quite quickly. The chicken was amazing, piping hot, fresh and great flavours. Mi Goreng ribs were a stand out! (dont leave without trying the Bear sauce!) Solid beer list too. Cant fault the staff, all super friendly and fun. Go for the food, stay for the meme filled bathroom. Phat Chicks is a win all round, we'll definitely be back!

I really wanted to love this place as it's local but was sadly very underwhelmed. The place was packed (and it's small to be begin with) which might explain the average food. <br/><br/>We ordered a sweet chilli and garlic breast, along with some wings and ribs and sides. The breast was very tasty but dry. Couldn't taste any salt and vinegar flavor on the ribs which was disappointing. They were rather oily tasting. The Cajun chips were tasty but the mac and cheese was also dry and flavorless (was pretty much pasta with cheese melted on top). <br/><br/>The staff were lovely and I'm not sure if the food quality suffered because of how busy they were. I'd like to give it another go once the place settles a bit but in the meantime, I'll be going elsewhere for chicken. <br/>

Finally a decent fried chicken place in Melbourne.. let alone the Western Suburbs. Tried a bit of everything on the menu and the Mi Goreng Chicken sure did knocked my socks off. <br/><br/>If you're a chicken fan like myself.. be sure to hit Phat Chicks up!

Been hanging to go here and it did not disappoint! Went with 3 young boys and they wolfed the drumsticks, fries and mac and cheese. I had the sesame soy thunder thigh and all three ribs. Everything is delicious and crunchy in all the right parts with the chips having a rocking seasoning on them, but the mac cheese was stand-out. The beer selection looks choice (when will this dry july finish). Bear is lovely as well and very accommodating to 4 boys wanting chicken fried hard!

Firstly the decor of this place is really nice, it's warm looking with good mix of wood, brass and brick. The gold cutlery is a nice touch too. Food-wise we got some drumsticks, a thunder thigh, Cajun fries, sweet potato fries, corn cheese, mac n cheese and the much talked about pimped up ribs. I tried the migoreng and salt & vinegar versions. Nice ratio of meat and batter on these, and it does really taste of migoreng packet noodles! The vinegar factor on the other flavour could be upped though. All the meat across the different cuts were moist however... my fave wasn't a chook dish, but the mac n cheese! Great balance of milky, sweet, savoury along with perfectly cooked pasta. I'm a pasta fiend so I'll go back just for this one dish.

Visted this place a few days ago with a few tomodachis. Tried the mi goreng chicken, juicy and succulent on the inside and extra crispy on the outside. That's the way uh huh uh huh I like it! This place is up there with all the others fried chicken places in Melbourne. In my top 5 for sure. Would recommend to all fried chicken lovers out there! <br/>Marzdog signing out.さようなら. じゃあ、また. (:

So much hype but... Disappointment. Finally Fried Chicken in the West but alas food and service needs to be improved. <br/><br/>The place looked nice and cosy but actually is small and squashed. Upon entry I did not know if I was to be seated or seat myself, I was lucky enough to get a table. Table turnover is slow.<br/><br/>Chicken is ordered in minimum portions apart from thigh and breast, with no options for quarter, half or whole. I ordered a spicy thigh, 2 original drumsticks and a side of fries. <br/><br/>It took 45 mins for the thighs to arrive so you would expect them to be hot and moist but they were warm and dry (for a thigh piece) and not very spicy. The drum sticks came next. Big step up from the thighs, hot moist good fried chicken... but wished for more batter. Chips came last and was the highlight of the meal. All up an hour for all the food to arrive. <br/>Service was pretty questionable with customers wondering where their food was, and playing what have you put on my table as the waitress drops of the food and quickly disappears without a word.<br/> FOH was a also mess, you had a table of four with one person on it (when there were available window seats) - consequently saw groups walk in and out as they could not find a table. with a place so small i would think table turnover and management would be key.<br/>So as it goes still waiting for Fried Chicken in the West.

✅ Awesome chicken wings and flavours - I had sweet chilli and sesame soy - loved them! They are super crunchy and packed with flavour. My only criticism is that I think it needs to be cooked a little longer - the meat wasn't raw, but it was a bit bloody at the bone - this would be cooked out with just a few more minutes of cook time.<br/>✅ Greats sides - had the sweet potato fries which were thick and crispy, as well as the Mac and cheese which was very cheesy!<br/>✅ Awesome selection of beers! Bottled and on tap!<br/>✅ Definitely give this place a try if you love chicken!<br/>❌ Small space, with the amount of people coming here this is like sitting in someone's closet. There is literally no concept of personal space here. Avoid the busy dinner periods at all costs!<br/>⚠️ As it's new, this is to be expected, but wait time is long. We lined up for about 15 minutes and food was served within 15. We did hear that takeaway was taking an hour! So naturally, some people left. I'm sure this is just a problem as it's just opened and everyone wants to try!

Today i went there for the first time but i got bad experience. The food take a long time. The order of the next customer after me was coming out before my order come out. I saw that customer and one of the staff know each other, but it is not to be a reason that friend is number one then the other customers. Please be professional.

Came at 11am per their opening hours.<br/><br/>When we arrived we were told they just needed to set up the tables. <br/><br/>At 11:20 we were told they would be done setting up in 10-15minutes.<br/><br/>At 11:40 we were told they will be opening at 12pm from now on.<br/><br/>Terrible communication, they had numerous opportunities to tell us about their new opening hours.

Been on a my radar for a while but finally attended a busy Saturday dinner out here.<br/><br/>It's promising but there's a few things they could iron out in the first few days of opening. I guess part of it is the fact that openings will be busy and I was at the negative side of it all. I think they forgot about my order of chips and sauce because it came out quite a bit after the chooks and having to remind the wait staff. The chips themselves were bad. It was served hot but has near none of the crispiness you enjoy on our favourite potato side. The bear sauce wasn't spectacular either.<br/><br/>Everything else was pretty good. The ribs (3 mee goreng + 1 spicy) wasn't too bad but thinking about it now the spice level and mee goreng-ness, if I could find a better term, could be better on the ribs. The drumsticks were served piping hot and we're a real treat to eat. Flavour levels were good, it was soft, moist, and came with a nice batter.<br/><br/>More than happy to re-rate upon another visit. It's too close and too cheap not to come by again. And again.

While I was the first customer in and the food was complementary, this has not coloured my review. I'd have to say it was a solid round of food all round. Especially the migoreng ribs, and mac and cheese!<br/><br/>I'd describe the chicken similar in style to Nene's Chicken, but crispier from memory - a medium between Korean Fried Chicken and Vietnamese Ga Chien Gion. Cheese and Spicy flavours were delish, original was alright although the sesame soy wasn't to my liking.<br/><br/>They're ['PHAT Crew' IIRC] still working out kinks on their first day: didn't open until a bit after 11 and delays on orders for the people that came in after. However, Jenny the owner was more than friendly and so were the staff, albeit a pretty stressed. PCFC is a welcome addition to the west and fills the niche quite nicely. Good job on the opening and looking forward to coming back when things die down a little.<br/><br/>Solid 4 from me.

The Hungry Moustache
For the longest time the West was missing that little something something. That little ‘Oomph’, or a ‘KAPOW!’ or simply a “BAMF!” that has everyone turning for a double take. West Footscray is an immensely huge cultural tasting plate, largely owing to it’s diverse amalgamation of ethnicities. It’s also a place I call home, a proud foodie of the West!<br/><br/>Barkly Street is quite literally ‘Little India’, that branches off to a slew of famous Vietnamese eateries, local takeaways and a few eccentrically placed midnight kebab trucks for the inebriated and bad decision makers at 2am on a Saturday.<br/><br/>But we were missing something weren’t we? Something that we could truly call our own. Little did I know, a revolution was afoot. The chicken coop was stirring with a fried chicken game so strong, this movement has quickly piqued the interest of locals and The Hungry Mo’ included!<br/><br/>The awesome:<br/><br/> - Thunder thighs – It’s hard to describe great chicken without using words like juicy, moist or orgasmic. But these thighs were exactly that, wonderfully coated and fried. There were some gherkins to cut through the fried goodness.<br/> - Wings – Encrusted well especially with the salt and vinegar chips. I actually thought the coating had cornflakes for crunch but it turned out to be crushed kettle chips! The salt to vinegar ratio was just right. If you’re salt and vinegar fan like I am, you’ll love these.<br/> - Ribs – Two words, MI GORENG. What the flip. So you’re telling me not only can I get ribs but it’ll also taste like mi goreng too?! Shut the front door! These were amazing guys and I’m actually craving them as I write this (usually a good sign). It really does taste like mi goreng but taken to the umpteenth degree with a side of fried chicken.<br/><br/>The not-so-awesome:<br/><br/> - I was slightly disappointed that there were no chicken burgers or loaded fries. However, I was told that if enough people annoy Jenny about it, she might reconsider! -hint hint-<br/> - Fried chicken is bad for me along with everything else that I love in this world.<br/><br/>On a serious note, growing up in West Footscray it’s so great to see so many places opening up in my neck of the woods like Phat Chicks and many other places I haven’t had the chance to visit, yet.<br/><br/>Maybe someone reading this can be inspired and open up say… a hot dog place in the West? I would love you forever.
