The chicken curry laksa is super flavourful, however the chicken is more dark meat, which isn’t my favourite. However, the broth is really tasty and the noodles are nice and chewy. I also enjoy the Roti Canai with sauces - big fan of the Dahl that comes along with it, as well as the curry sauce and Sambal. Service is pretty quick too, has become a fave lunchtime spot, with it being close to work too.
A friend brought me here. I had never been to a Papparich before and wasn’t sure what to order. My fried ordered a meaty Char Koay Teow so I ordered the same but vegetarian. And oh I was so amazed! I loved the chilli in it. The flat rice noodles are so fun to eat, even the people not used to chopsticks can pick it up easily. I love broccoli so that was a bonus for me. 10 out of 10 will eat again.
Much smaller and less variety than the QV location, but you can't fault them... They are an express, after all. Happy to see they at least offer mock mutton, as well as the simple but very tasty char koay teow. If you work in the area and need a quick lunch, this place is good. For a longer dinner, check another location.
This is the express version of PappaRich. I would suggest going to the one in QV for the full experience and menu, as the express one is limited. Food is still delicious though!
Not too long ago I had amazing nasi lemak at a nearby restaurant, so I thought it would be interesting to compare it with Papa Rich, particularly since this branch has mixed reviews.
Happy to say, I really enjoyed the nasi lemak here, even though I ordered it take away.
The coconut rice was creamy which went really well with the chicken curry. The curry wasn't spicy so I added the rest of the chilli oil, which was provided in a separate container. There was also a surprisingly good amount of chicken as well.
Nice crunch and saltiness coming from the fried crisp anchovies.
The express restaurant is nice and clean, with a good number of tables given the small space.
I bought a takeaway char kuay teow through the meal pal app.
Im a fan of papparich and usually get the roti. The CKT was pretty good. Decent amount of sauce, enough prawn, egg and fishcake, packed with char and heat. It's all about the char.
The express version of PappaRich is a very good alternative for the working folk.
I stopped by here with a lovely friend to try the limited time only Nasi Lemak burger on a cold afternoon.
It was a welcome change stepping in from the cold and we quickly got a table even though we arrived at peak lunch time.
The Nasi Lemak burger was a medium sized burger that came served on a small wooden board.
It came with a side of fried chicken skin and spicy red sauce! - Although the fried chicken skin itself was DELISH!
The chicken in the burger was super crunchy and flavourful and tasted like slightly like curry. The burger itself is not dry and is moist with the curry like sauce which is not too spicy. I think there was also some may and lettuce although I could not taste it too much. The burger is topped off with a fried egg which breaks and oozes all over the burger and board plate.
For 12.90, I think it is definitely worth a try; the chicken skin is super crunchy and delicious. I would definitely have it again.
Recommendations: Since this is a pretty messy burger to eat because of the fried egg with runny yolk, I think a bigger plate is needed to serve just because the egg can ooze all over the place, especially if you are a messy eater like me.
Other than that, a pleasure to eat.
PappaRich on Collins street is in a perfect sun trap of a location for a quick and easy lunchtime venue. Set up as an express over the full restaurant experience the food is quick and delicious. I ordered the Nasi Lemak with a beef rangdang curry and it was a tasty purchased. Although I was eating in the food came in take away containers (I sat outside so I guess it was takeaway). Good amount of beef and came with egg, peanuts, anchovies and of course coconut rice. There was the option to spice it up also.
Only complaint was that some of the beef in my serve was a little bit fatty. I get that curries are best cooked slow with fattier cuts but perhaps a little more trimming was needed. Only
Minor and certainly wouldn’t stop me coming back or recommending as a quick lunch option.
Lovely little place at a tucked park near busy CBD offices. Tried the char kuey tiauw here. A bit spicy. The portion might seem small, but it was quite filling after eating it.
With the Papparich at QV being pretty much packed all the time, my friend and I decided to try out the food at Papparich Express and we were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and more importantly the food was delicious! The laksa and nasi lemak that my friend and I ordered were served in less than 10 mins. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back!
Most Papparich places gets pretty packed during rush hour. So this Papparich Express was a genius idea as the wait time is significantly reduced! Food comes out super fast and delicious, also super impressed with the new food menu in comparison to the other branches.
Good place to get great Malaysian food at an affordable price! Always packed during lunch time but line clears up really quickly. Would come back again.
The.Swine had a hankering for Laksa on the run and Papa Rich came to the Swine's rescue. Papa Rich Express may not give the full Papa Rich experience however is very convenient. Long Time Listener, First Time Caller here, the Swine thought Papa Rich Express'set up was like a Malaysian cuisine Maccas fast food outlet. Food came out quick and filled the Swine's big fat hole. The Swine likes this and would do it again.
I have Been there many times and the quality is very consistent. Great place to get quick takeaway work lunch :) it can get busy probably not the best for sit down lunch there if you want to have a quiet conversation
I'll be back :)
Went out for lunch with Mum today and decided to try Pappa Rich on Collins Street as I've never had it before. I ordered the seafood laksa and Mum had the curry chicken. We also had 3 pieces of the chicken goyza.
The servings were a good size, the laksa was very filling with some nice seafood, prawns, mussels etc, noodles and soup to enjoy. It was hearty and a bit spicy and I really enjoyed it. The chicken goyza (Hope I spelled that right) was also very tasty.
The place was always full of people coming and going so I'm guessing it's doing well, locals seem to like it and I think it has an authentic taste to it. I will be back to try some of the other things on the menu. :)
The last picture is of Rosie Roulette who has a beautiful singing voice and who I heard singing in the city after I'd had lunch. I know it has nothing to do with food but I'm a Melbournite and I believe in promoting the good things in my city like the art, the music, the culture as well as the great food. :)
