Have to agree with what has already been said. This place blew my socks right off! Took the pup and the missus for a walk down a quiet business district after work only to come across this little hidden jem, SO GLAD I DID! Recommend the Slick Rick with the Chick. Be warned, you may need to do a few more laps though, but we'll worth the adventure.
Some of the best prices and absolutely out of this world delicious and tasty food. Don't think there is a "bad" item on the menu. customer service is also exceptional.
Cannot recommend this place enough!
We tried this place for lunch from work and I got the pulled cow burger and it was good. Price is ok in today's burger market but it could have come with some extras I.e small chips or can of drink. This is a place to go for a quick bite or take away. Most of my colleagues didn't dislike their choice of burger but it wasn't something to rave about! Definitely give it a try!
No nonsense place to eat. We go there for lunch during the week. Not much in the way of seating, but the burgers make up for the lack of space. I have tried most burgers on the menu, and can safely say I have not had a bad burger here yet. It's not fast food, be prepared to wait for about 15-20 mins or get there before 12 (or even order on menulog), but it is worth the wait. You won't leave hungry.
Ordered the slick rick and it was a great greasy burger, just what I wanted. Affordable and great service. Will come back even though I'm not from the area.
If you've never been here before, do yourself a favour and give them a shot! I guarantee you'll love the Owner Rick!
Here we have a Slick Rick with a Chickš, Ante Upš and Slick Rick with Two Chickš. Honestly, the fried chicken here is phenomenal and I would break my diet for them! Minor improvements from my first visit with the bacon not being too charred! These guys are epic for dirty filthy burgers, so if you need a hangover cure, head over to The Little Food Hut for a cheap and affordable feed!
Remember to get their fried chicken and have a chat with the owner!
I have only ordered takeaway via delivery from The Little Food Hut so cannot comment on the staff or location, however I will say this...the burgers are fantastic.Ā They are delivered promptly and very well wrapped.Ā The Po' Boy Burger was fantastic...one of the best burgers I've eaten and I loved the soft brioche bun which was a pleasure to eat.Ā The kids loved their Baby Slick burgers which were much bigger than the usual kids burgers you get elsewhere.Ā The Cheese and Bacon Fries were great too and very generously sized.Ā All of us can't wait to try The Little Food Hut again.Ā Great tasting burgers and very good value for money!
If you want big sloppy burgers at a reasonable price this is the place.Ā
Hidden among a cluster of corporate headquarters in Mulgrave is this little gem. Looks like a little truck stop/deli but then you see the line for lunch and know it is something special. Luckily we had a heads up from a work colleague and ordered on menulog half an hour before and jumped the line.
The photo does not give the 'Slick Rick with a Chick' enough justice. This probably represents only a 1/4 of the burger's actual size. It was gigantic and delicious. Polished it off but struggled with the chips after so be warned if getting something on the side.
The place is lacking chairs & atmosphere and we got zero napkins with our meals, which are integral for sloppy feeds but these are little things which did not detract from the overall experience
Must try feed for burger fanatics
Loved the burgers from here, luckily I live local to the shop. strangely enough, I didn't even know there was a shop here until my mate turned around one day and was like "let's go grab a bite in your area" So we did. The burgers were good. Fairly priced, weird location and limited seating although.
Looks can be deceiving! This little tuck shop is hidden in the back corner of Mulgrave's industrial area, seating inside is limited but dont be deterred..
I had the Slick Rick burger and it was excellent. Perfect bun, great cheese and condiments. Friendly and very quick service.
If I had to make suggestions they'd be - large menu boards behind the counter so you can easily decide while you're queing, and the meat patty could be juicier and have more of that falling apart texture. Those things aside, I won't hesitate to go back and try a few more of their burgers.
Tasty! The first word that comes to mind after eating the burger. This place has been on my list for a while and was finally able to get here and boy was I impressed. If you are looking for a Chic place, that pays emphasis to the looks then this place is not for you. This seems to be a small family run place that can feel messy and unkempt at busy times but they try to spruce up the place when they are quite. It's all about the flavor here. You can tell the pride that is put into the products and the taste showcases it as well. Had the Po Boy burger with Extra bacon. I passed on the chips to feel healthier, I am sure they would be nice too. The bun was perfectly toasted and has the right amount of softness to it. All the toppings worked really well with southern fried chicken and by the end of it I was really full. A great hidden gem which I am sure is appreciated by its regular patrons.
Fellow South-East Suburbans! Looking for the best burger fix on this side of town? Look no further than 'The Little Food Hut'. The name says it all, the place is small but the burgers are anything but. Buns are warm, consisting of a brioche texture, patties are how they should be: juicy, thick and cooked to perfection. Sauces can be rich but whats a burger without the added 'kick'?
To complement I suggest the beer battered chips. Thick cut, crunchy with the added salty spices to meet your daily sodium requirements. Service is no frills, you order, you pay then wait till your number is called out. Make sure you attend to your called out number or risk being yelled at, bringing you back to the nostalgia of Year 10 detention.
My review complements all the other positive reviews on this page....besides the one who rated this place based on their coffee. Don't listen to that idiot clown (The Whippeteers)Ā and his/her review based on Little Food Hut's coffee, you come here for the burgers and that is their speciality.
Don't worry about shelling out for 'The Book of Mormon'. If you want a real show, head to The Little Food Hut.Ā
The name describes the venue perfectly, it's a little hut - that serves food.Ā
The owner and his parents (big assumption on their relationship to each other) are the stars here, they are vibrant, loud and will unintentionally put on a spectacular cooking show for you while you wait. Are you the Uber Eats guy waiting for an order; don't let the owner catch you on your phone - or you are going to get yelled at and told to take the food to the starving customer (in slightly more colourful language).
Did you just ask how long your order will take? Wrong question buddy, you will just wait until your order is fulfilled - sit down and wait.Ā
The food? Holy hell it is good. The Po' Boy is why I keep returning, but the fries, fried chicken, and other menu items are just as quality.Ā
My comments regarding customer service above may put you off, but customers are number one here. If you are not happy, the owners are not happy.Ā
Go here, and unlike the guy below, don't review them on coffee. If you don't like that their regular machine is not working "JUST DON'T BUY coffee, hey?".
It is an exciting lunchtime destination and I will continue to go as long as these guys continue to run the show.Ā
"Who ordered the bloody 'Slick Rick'"?!
Finally got round to trying this place. 10 of us went their at 12pm, their busiest time of the day and they were amazing! We phone ordered in advance and the lady was very good with handling our massive order of 11 burgers 4 loaded fries 8 milkshake and southern fried chicken onion rings. They were fast despite getting constant people walking in with orders on top of ours. Slick Rick/Slick rick with a chick were delicious, beef perfectly cooked. Submission burger was exactly right! (with added bacon to make it even better!) and the burger combo of the Pulled cow was on point! Loaded cheese bacon fries were amazing! Milkshake were okay, nothing fancy but did the job! Biggest thank you to Rick and the two lovely people working the front for their awesome work! Would highly recommend this place to friends and family!
Our friend vouches for the quality of burgers this fast food restaurant dishes out, and thus, decided to order burgers the day we were too tired to cook dinner.Ā
Pulled Cow, The Pho Boy and Magic Mushroom were ordered. Each and every burger was very juicy, tasty and filling. Totally easy on the pocket is an advantage as well.Ā
Ā
Easily deserves a 3.5 because of the location but not rating it based on the quality, taste and price would be wrong and thus deserves a 4.0.
Poppie thoroughly enjoyed grazing at the little food hut. Never has he seen such large thick cut chips, delicious and unreal. The submission burger itself was delightful, so much melted cheese, onions, the bun fantastic. The only thing poppie would suggest is to make the beef patties thicker, they're quite thin. Besides this it's a fantastic treat in a quaint industrial location. Definitely worth an eat if in the area. Thumb up š
Easily the best burgers on this side of town! Super friendly and delicious. Favorites are the Po 'boy and Slick Rick. It's even a great quick stop to pick up some lunch. The guy who left a poor review about the coffee has obviously not tried the burgers!
BEST BURGERS I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME! Seriously guys do yourselves a favour and hit this place up because it's this little hidden gem not too far from Monash Uni!!! So the mushroom burger is bloody phenomenal and if you get the Po Boy which is also really really good, add a mushroom to it. Do it. You won't regret it. The burgers are all greasy and delightful and the beer battered fries are pretty decent too. But I cannot finish this review without mentioning the service! It's been up and running since 1990 and they treat all their customers with love and respect and you can tell that they take great pride in what they do. HIT THIS PLACE UP YO!!
Most amazing veggie burgers. Lovely people, unpretentious. Would highly recommend. The other burgers look amazing too. Will be bringing my family and friends to this unassuming burger joint
When my friend said that The Little Food Hut had great burgers, I was skeptical to say the least! I had been past this place many times and had never thought twice about entering. I think the reason for this is because it just looked so damn shabby! It's basically a black portable, like the movable ones they used to use in high school. It's also located in the middle of nowhere, their neighbour is a block of open land with horses on it. I guess I've always pictured it to be a dirty place, with rats running around the kitchen, and salmonella lurking around the corner.
If someone says a place is good and invites me, I would never turn it down. I see it as a sign of disrespect to not at least give it a try. So off I went, putting my body on the line!
Well I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. I ordered the Po'Boy and the southern friend chicken was very tasty indeed! It was juicy, succulent, and had great texture. The burger was not lacking in flavour at all. The Creole slaw, American cheddar and sriracha mayo all worked wonderfully together to make this a quality burger!
My minor criticisms apart from the bun being a bit sweet, is that the burger looked and tasted awfully unhealthy. Now I know some of you guys would say that's how a burger should be, and if I didn't want that then eat something else. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement, but it doesn't take away the feeling that I felt like someone had rolled up a ball of fat and slapped it on my face! I felt a little greased out after the burger, and the Butterbing cookie tipped me over the edge.
This is the style of food served at The Little Food Hut, and anyway who is looking for something healthy should look elsewhere. I cannot think of a better place for a bodybuilder looking for a cheat meal!
Overall great burgers, and I no I did not get salmonella! Shows you can't judge a book by it's cover. FYI, if you don't want to smell like oil then order your food and get the hell out of there! Come back to pick up your burger when it's ready. If you stay inside any longer, you'll smell like a tempura prawn for the rest of the day. You have been warned.

Mulgrave's best kept burger secret! Please spread the word, because it deserves not to be. Burgers are awesome and well worth the price, full of flavour and filling!
I've been coming here a bunch recently, one of my go-to burger places since it's nice and local. Every single time the service has been amazing, the burgers delicious and the price so damn affordable. Any off the menu burger is tasty enough, but don't be afraid to ask Ricky behind the counter if he's got anything special brewing for you. Definitely worth a visit, friendliest staff you'll ever meet.
What a hidden gem. Got the Po Boy and by god it was amazing! Best burger I have had in ages!! Looking forward to hitting up rest of the burgers on the menu.

+4.5
Blink and you'll miss it spot in the industrial area of Mulgrave, pumping out great burgers with super friendly and chatty service. I grabbed a Slick Rick and everything was spot on (check out all that bacon in the photo!) and delivered with a smile. Can't wait to try so more burgers from there. Have been back and the quality is always top notch!
The best burgers that I have found in the area, worth the drive up from Rowville to get a decent burger at a good price. Now doing deliveries in the evenings which is great.
We ordered the Po Boy, Slick Mick, K.I.S.S., Pulled Cow and loaded fries with gravy, cheese, bacon and onion. The Po Boy and loaded fries were AMAZING! Really delicious. The Slick Mick on the other hand wasn't as great, the meat was slightly burnt. All in all awesome customer service and super friendly!
Ventured here on the advice of friends that it was worth checking out. Unfortunately owner Ricky was o/s and they'd been broken into a few nights before but they kept rolling on! Big effort. And the food wasn't mind blowing but good for what they've got to use š
Really great burgers. You wouldn't expect it from the look of the place or even the location but they are delicious. Good prices too and staff are lovely. Really looking forward to go back and try other burgers on the menu. SIDE NOTE: probably don't eat in
Great burgers in the middle of nowhere. Ricky knows his stuff. If you love burgers you'll love this joint. Decor isn't flash, but it doesn't matter
Stopped in after work and got the slick rick burger ($18)
Worth every penny though.. Filled me right up, was a messy feed but all ingredients were top quality
Definitely recommend
A hidden gem. I accidentally visited them while passing through that area. The food is delicious. I tried the lamb souvalaki. The lamb was juicy and had aroma of freshness. Although I would suggest them to keep tomato separately until it is done. I tasted their freshly made pasta and that was splendid. The best thing about this little restaurant are the owners, who are lovely friendly people.
There is plenty of parking outside. The table under the tree was the best place to enjoy a meal.
Located cor of dunlop rd. Small place. The place does not look fancy but the good is amazing. The shop is filled with clients during lunch hour and there is a usually a 20 min wait.
I am very satisfied with my burger and it was one of the best burgers I ever had
I'm not a big burger guy, but I was pleasantly surprised by my order-the pulled cow. Comparing this place to YOMG, I would much rather come here. The pulled beef was moist and coupled magnificantly with the cheese and gravy. Definitely a steal for 12$.
Great place for sharing with friends and it's in a quiet little corner, so it's not too busy too. Didn't have a chance to try the drinks, but I would recommend if you need a good feed at a good price!
I am so sad this place only exists here, what a pleasant little surprise it turned out to be! Classic "don't judge a book by its cover" situation. It may look a little like 'the hood' but I can assure you it is very much top-shelf service and food. The burgers are just divine, with fancy schmancy ingredients to go with their creative names. And not even pretentious, just simply everything flavour-some that you want in a burger. The mum and son duo that own and operate this establishment are the cutest thing you'll see after Betty White. They're dynamic and sassy, oh yes, and they made us feel like queens the second we stepped in. Would give a much higher rating if I could!
Great burgers and fries.. you must try.
Fantastic burgers - great to eat, hard to beat. Will be going back many, many times in the future.
Hands down these guys are the best burger guys in Melbourne! The staff are very friendly and welcoming every single time. my partner and I have never been disappointed with their food. The burger patties are so juicy and full of goodness, buns are always fresh. A must try!
Excellent po'boy burger and great shakes. Friendly staff.
