An amazing happy hour spot in the heart of the city. Great for a dance after work or to meet new people (plus the bar staff are amazing). Drinks are on POINT and so is the music. All in all a stellar venue with great themed nights and atmosphere.
Great prices.
Staff are welcoming and friendly.security is pretty helpful aswell. Great bunch of blokes and LIZ one of the best venue managers i have come across
I celebrated my birthday here and had the best night. It's an intimate setting with great decor and really good vibes. The staff on the night were super friendly and attentive! The dj on the Saturday night really got the party going, and all in all, I would definitely recommend this venue to others.
Fantastic cocktails (bring back the ginger ninja). The jugs are good value if you have a few people with you. I've been to functions here before where a few of the platters were ordered and the Asian style tapas food they serve is absolutely delicious.
There's some bad service reviews on here but I'm yet to experience that. As an after work drinks spot I find this to be pretty enjoyable but it does get pretty dancey slash club like around the 10pm mark when they turn the music up which is totally fine, but a bit of a different vibe
Friday night drinks. Taco & tequila night. Free taco or tequila shot on arrival. Decent size taco but it was a bit cold. Music was old school but it was 2am dance floor loud, not Friday night drinks loud. Crowd came in waves. Small seating areas scattered around. If you want a seat book ahead because Friday nights book out quickly.
Fantastic venue.
Great prices.
Staff are welcoming and friendly.
Defs a fave for an after work drink. Can get crowded but everyone is pretty relaxed and the vibe is great.
Amazing venue! I had my mates Birthday on the weekend & had a blast, music & vibe was on point! the staff were friendly & prompt with all of my requests in my booth area! I definitely recommend this venue for your next Birthday or event.
One of my absolute favourite places in Melbourne!
Restaurant/Bar: Depending on the night, you'll get a different vibe. I suggest going on Thursdays - Saturdays if you prefer something uplifting but relaxed.
If you enjoy rnb and hip hop, this is definitely the place to be.
Food: The tapas are to die for! Be careful of the tacos though, they do pack quite a kick of flavour (which is amazing!). However, the star of Little Red Pocket would be their buckets of fried boneless chicken! I make it a thing to drop by every Thursday to have a bucket. Immensely succulent pieces of chicken covered in the perfect layer of batter. Definitely beats Gami by miles!
Staff: All of the staff are so wonderful every time I drop by! They're playful with the guests and actually look like they want to be there as opposed to bar tenders at other places.
They're knowledgable about the alcohol they serve and a particular bar tender wowed me with his knowledge on whiskey.
Overall: Definitely drop by for some after work drinks and buckets of chicken! Their cocktails are just perfect after a long day at the office.
Got invited here by a friend. I did not even know that this place served food! I had the Japanese teriyaki chicken with rice and a side of fried chicken. Wow! For a cocktail bar this place really can show up some restaurants! Amazing food! 5/5
Also they had an open mic. It was good to see young Melbourne talent get up on stage and perform while you have a drink or have some yummy food! :)
Had an amazing night at little red pocket on a Saturday night.
I had a table booked pretty last minuet but they still provided great service and made the process easy.
Top of that, all the staff and the Manger(Liz) on duty were amazing ,they were able to help us out when ever we need something.
Definitely recommend checking out (great crowd!) and have a party hosted there!
Love the old rnb tunes there every Friday & Saturday nights. Nice cocktails and great atmosphere! Always have a blast everytime I go there :)
Perfect venue for some after work drinks or even as your first pit stop before heading out for a big night! Service is impeccable with the staff being super friendly and engaging while whipping up your perfect friday night cocktail
Very classy setup, perfect environment for afterwork drinks. Great music with noise level easily accommodating casual conversation whilst getting a boogie on. Great vibes and excellent service. Wait at the bar is never too long. Their cocktails and tapas are delicious also! Must visit spot!
The perfect place for some entertainment with food, drinks and music plus much more during the mid-week trading. If you love your Japanese inspired bars, this is the one to be offering much more than your usual. The customer service is always great and the drinks are served to impress. Come check it out during the week for a a more kicked back vibe or for something more check it out on a Friday or Saturday night.
Best food, awesome cocktails, friendly staff and an incredible vibe all week long. Always something happening at Little Red Pocket. You can't go wrong!
YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT THE SALMON CARPACCIO!! THEY ARE THE BOMMMMMMMMMB DIGGIDY!
Also, I've never been a big cocktail drinker, but LRP has turned me! Mr Miyagi kicks some serious ass and the Kyurri Nushi is nice and refreshing!
Good work guys! Will be back real soon!! and i'll be sure to bring a bigger entourage!!!
Great cosy bar/venue to spend your weekend at, especially when you have one of those night out with the girls. Friendly staff and customer service I can't complain about. Great staff, great people and great fun ;)
Amazing venue with fantastic food and cocktails. The wagyu is a must have on top of the almond prawns. Let's not forget the great range of cocktails to continue a the night.
It's a YES from me. Little Red Pocket never fails to impress, their events are the talk of the town, scrumptious food, mouthwatering cocktails and the most welcoming staff. Good Vibes Only
Great service! Really welcoming and food is real good quality the wagyu is on point and cocktails made by bartenders are always great! Good for catch up after work or more intimate birthday or celebrations - have become a regular specially on Thursday nights on their live music and great vibes! Always big smiles :) I've recommended to my friends :)
Amazeballs.... Amazing cocktails. The cocktail described as tasting like 'Hello Kitty' actually tastes like a 'Hello Kitty' explosion in my mouth. The food was phenomenal. Full of flavour. Very well thought out. The only downside is That I don't live in Melbourne and can't experience it on an ongoing basis!
Mixed Feelings. When I went for the first time, it was sensational!! Never had Japanese tapas and cocktails quite like it... Second time, was quite a let down and even more embarrassing, I had important guests with me.
Nice place with a great feel and decor, interesting cocktails, and very good food. Not cheap, but worth the cost for the quality. This final sentence only exists to fill the word count.
Best tempura prawns I've ever had!. Also visited with a LivingSocial voucher.
Came the other night with my partner and I haven't been that happy with both the food and customer service in a long time! We were treated like regular customers, if not better- the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food was incredible- the tempura prawns were to die for, the best I've had so far. And the optional spicy mayonnaise was amazing, not spicy at all actually. We also ordered the chicken riblets and the pork gyoza, both were really good too. Considering these are tapa style dishes, the portions are very generous, perfect for two people. Oh! And the Green tea brûlée was amazing too!
I will definitely come back. It's good value for money- on weekdays up to 7pm it's three tapa dishes for $25 and two for $25 after 7pm and they also have various other specials like $10 cocktails on Thursdays.
The only downside was not having much experience with Japanese food, I didn't know how to eat the Edamame beans and was not told by the waiter that you don't eat them whole. I wish I had figured it out sooner because it was horrible trying to munch on the spiky texture of them! I noticed a few other tables hadn't touched their beans too, so I would assume they didn't know either and weren't too impressed after trying to eat them!
Went there with groupon voucher. The oysters are the best. The creme brulee is bad. It's really dark inside.
New Favourite Friday Night Hotspot. Came here for some low-key birthday drinks with a few friends and absolutely loved it! We booked a small lounge so we can have somewhere to sit for the night and with that you get an ipad to order food and drinks on. Fantastic idea - instead of lining up 20 minutes for a drink you can simply order through the ipad and await your order. Also these are the best cocktails I have tried by far. Definately recommend the passionfruit cocktail. Large selection of Japanese-styled tapas too if you're a bit hungry.
Music is also really cool - they play old school rnb on a Friday night, and the crowd is a mixed crowd, not too old, not too young.
I loved it so much, I convinced my work to take us there for after our work function!
10/10!
Yummy cocktails. Cocktails here are AWESOME!!!! Come here quite often for afterwork drinks and mid week catch ups with friends. Food is yummy. Love it.
Went with a living social voucher, the service was very good, the salmon was awesome. Cocktails were delicious, cool and quiet vibe for a tuesday night.
Dumplings For Breakfast
+4.5
Love the cocktail jugs. Went here with the voucher, but we were treated like normal customers, if not better! We tried 4 of the tapas style dishes, and they were great, though not all strictly traditional Japanese. The tempura prawns and the chicken riblets were fantastic, and the tea-smoked salmon and vegetable gyoza were delicious as well.
The cocktail jug we had was amazing as well. We had the Peach Miyabi, a sweet and refreshing sake based cocktail.
Only complaint was the big ugly portable air conditioners they needed to keep the place cool. Will be a much nicer venue when they get real air con.
Loved it!. Went here with Living Social Voucher and it was the best Tempura prawn I've ever had.
The oysters was alsooo soooo good!
Will be back for sure! Staff were laid back and not so pushy.
Been here about three times now and has never failed to please. The pocket oyster are simply mind blowing. I'm not a fan or deep fried things but the tempura prawns are cooked to perfection, you could have 10 and not have that sick feeling. The venue is great, cosy yet classy. I've yet to try all the cocktails but the lychee one has really stood out. A must visit new venue in Melbourne.
My new favourite Friday night joint. This place is my favourite! The bartenders are so friendly and service is impeccable...they know how to serve their drinks and make the cocktails. The atmosphere is great and I've always had a good time here.
It was just amazing, the food was fresh and the bar tender, I think his name was Dave, was so accommodating.
Dark & inviting. Great little (low-lighted) place once up the very nondescipt stairs and you have a table. Ginger Ninja cocktails are delicious although a few places now have similar (Tom Phat, Cookie) . Their edamame - although on the pricey side - very nice.
You read that right. Oyster filled spring rolls. Fresh oysters wrapped in crispy pastry topped with wasabi mayo and tobiko (flying fish roe). Even my seafood-hating dining companion loved them. Soft and juicy with just the slightest bit of crunch coming from the spring roll shells, the small taste left you wanting more. I should move on to the actual feature dish of the bento boxes, however. I ordered the Tea Cured Salmon Bento.
