This extremely busy and popular Japanese restaurant right in the heart of docklands is the place you wanna go if you wanna explore what japanese delicacies are like.
Been there three times as it's quiet close to my Myer office. All three experiences were different.
The best - Sushi experience was amazing. As an Indian, sushi is something you don't find easily in India. It was my first time I tried sushis and goodness me, they were amazing. I was skeptical about the raw fish ones, but they were brilliant too. They are so sweet, juicy and tender. What I had was - sushi platter with fried barbecue chicken strips.
The alright - teriyaki don was the dish I was overwhelmed with. It was such a big bowl of endless ingredients in it. All kinds of sauted veggies, mushrooms and teriyaki sauce flavoured chicken pieces all over it. There was so much going on in the dish that it can really intimidate and confuse your taste buds. Also the enormous bowl and it's quantity.
The not again - Chicken fried rice, I personally am not a fan of half cooked chicken style dishes. Hence, I couldn't really enjoy that much, but it did have prawns and good amount of vegetables and sweet flavour of rice. Certainly a joy for me if the chicken was of my style.
Went to grab a quick lunch. Turned out to be pretty famous among the others. Service was quick with courteous staff. Food. Food , I was trying Japanese for the first time and I absolutely loved it at the very first time itself. Quantity , taste , price perfectly balanced. Sure to go back again...!
Japanese for obento.. obento for japanese. Have your set with tasty soup side and mains all for $13. Cant go wrong here for yummy Japanese food 👌👌👍👍
Read some horrible reviews for the place, still decided to give it a try. And it was love at first bite ❤️ The vegetarian teriyaki don was to die for! So much flavour and so fresh. The only reason for not giving a perfect 5 is the dish tasted completely opposite when had at home as a takeaway ( the portion was too big to be finished at once). But I don't blame the guys for that. Definitely visiting again!
I had the soft shell crab ramen (Kani ramen) and it was good. It's not the best most authentic ramen I've had in melbourne, but it's not bad either. It is the first time I've had soft shell crab in a ramen, and it was nice. The noodles are average, soup is a bit diluted but still tasty. At 14.50 it's edging to be a bit pricey, but serving sizes here are quite good, in particular curry, udons, and donburis. Overall I would say it's better than average.
I had their unagi with egg rice set. Unagi was a bit too chewy for my liking but I suppose that's personal preference. Other than that, they served up proper sushi rice which was really good and the egg was perfect with rice. Had their teriyaki chicken and avocado sushi roll which were ok as well. Comes in BIG portion which can be shared between two ppl or one really really hungry person! Would come back to try other dishes! And they're always packed during lunch hours!!
You cant go past the teryaki don here. Ive had the chicken and the beef and both are the best ive had anywhere. Good don shouldn't be hard but great teriyaki don is right here!
Beautifully cooked Japanese food that will cater to what you are looking for. Whether its sushi rolls or a proper meal, this place will please your culinary senses. I had a curry katsu don for lunch and it was simply delicious. They have expanded the restaurant so now it is a lot more spacious.
My lunch spot!! Go for the sashimi bowl it's filling and fish quality up to standard for what you pay. Very good for a fast food jap place. The only downside are the mornings. They state they are open but rice isn't ready till almost an hour after opening. Sashimi isn't too. Many dishes aren't in fact. Service is acceptable. Thanks for the consistently great meal
This place was packed when i visited last time, generous serving, some seafood items on menu were overpriced... but its a franchise so i get it. Ordered sushi pack from the counter, it was freshly made.
Don't know why I haven't come here sooner - was a great bento box with teriyaki beef. The gyoza in particular were impressive. Everything very fresh and piping hot.
My favourite Japanese restaurant at the moment. Try the grilled sushi which has a sweet (probably miso) basting and their miso soup is great too. Great lunch option.
