Mostly sells snacks, so I chose rice bowl and har gow.. reasonable price for rice bowl. Place is simple and clean, located on Novotel’s ground floor.
Had the Katsu chicken rice bowl and it was fresh and flavourful! Matt the server had a great attitude! Will definitely be back.
I grabbed some lunch from here. The service was really friendly and welcoming.
This cafe is situated next to the foyer of a large hotel chain.
I ordered 3 vegetarian dumplings which were really plump and tasty, although a bit of sauce would have made them perfect. For me anyway.
My first crispy chicken, sriracha kewpie, pickled carrot and coriander bao bun was delicious, just perfect. The chicken was hot, the kewpie yummy and it was really satisfying.
Oddly the second bao bun was still very good but for some reason not as tasty as the first! No idea why, but it was still very good.
This place is definitely worth a visit.
Located on the ground level of the Novotel Melbourne Central. This is handy for guests to grab a casual bite to eat or have a coffee on the go. There is a decent amount of indoor seating so doesn’t feel too cramped. Order up at the register and they’ll bring your order out to you. The service is very friendly.
I visited here for breakfast and had a bit of an appetite. The menu lends itself to Asian inspired dishes and lots of duck dishes caught my eye. I ordered the Breakfast. Bao. It was a pillowy bao bun filled with peking duck and scrambled eggs topped with hoisin sauce. Very tasty and great concept. I then sampled the Vego Dumpling. Three pieces of nicely made dumplings simply filled with an assortment of vegetables I didn’t need any sauce to go with it as delicious on its own. The Peking Duck Toastie had good pieces of duck and noodles sandwich between two slices of bread and flavoured with hoi sin. It was nice to eat but probably preferred the bao. I had a Bubble Tea to drink. My first choice of black pearl had run out so opted for lychee jelly to go with the roasted rice milk tea. It was actually quite a good combo with the lychee jelly liquid popping on each bite.
Even if not staying at the hotel it’s a nice place for a casual meal or drink.
This fusion eatery offers a small range of dumplings, banhmis, baos, toasties, rice bowls and select drinks.
The Master stock beef brisket, slaw and cheese toast- tender beef with slaw that is crisp with the most stretchy cheese. The bread is crunchy.
Bubble teas and coffees also available.
Earl grey milk tea woth rainbow jelly. Aromatic tea with a light sweet taste. The rainbow jelly is chewy with no taste which is perfect as it doesn't change the taste to the milk tea.
What a cute little place I found that did a thai milk tea and some really good dumplings. The service was very fast and efficient.
What a great place for a speedy lunch, and something different to your standard sandwiches! The bao are delicious, with a good range of options (including veggie choices for us plant eaters). Food is served super fresh! St. Ali coffee and a good selection of sweet treats also available.
Got the Tori katsu (panko chicken) toastie. It was of a huge portion and was really filling and nice. The chicken was a bit bitter on the burnt edges but was nice inside.
The Mayo was a bit spicy which was nice with the salad in the toastie.
Really nice toastie but room for improvement.
Executive Chef Michael Smith, and the talented team at Goldie Asian Canteen + Brews are celebrating Pride Month and International Donut Day (7th June) this June with flamboyant additions to their delectable line up of East-meets-West donuts.
Known for their weird but wonderful fillings and playful toppings, the latest Goldie additions certainly deliver on all fronts. Goldie’s Pride embodies the colours and energy of June’s PRIDE festivities adorned with a crown of rainbow sprinkles and colourful Golden Gaytime biscuit. While the Strawberry Daiquiri donut boasts a sweet topping spiked with a splash of white rum
I chose to have the Peking duck toastie. Great flavour and a really large toastie. The staff were really helpful in recommending some star dishes.
Small concise menu that are both carnivore and vegetarian friendly!
I ordered the vegetarian har gow it is delicious! The dumplings are freshly made to order and you can see & taste the freshness of the vegetables.
Ordered the fried eggplant bao bun love the eggplant.
I was tempted to order another one of the veg har gow. It was that good.
The cafe was almost empty but the quality of the food was very good. In the age of instagram the look of the cafe do not translate well. If it had brass gold fitting with millennial pink seats I am sure the place would be packed on a Sunday morning!
Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone who is looking for NOT the usual brunch in Melbourne.
Great coffee and adorable sweets tucked away in the Novotel. The veg-friendly menu of Chinese-inspired breakfast food is everything I want in a cafe. They're doing a great deal at the moment where you pay $30 for a branded KeepCup and 30 prepaid coffees. So glad I have an excuse to frequent this place.
What an interesting menu. The duck and noodle sandwich was definitely the best. Each sandwich had a good crunch to them. Need to go back to try the bobas
Great Peking duck toastie! The noodles in it brought back comfort food memories and the service was fantastic. Kalua and cold brew disguised in a bubble cup hit the spot and fooled the boss too!
When it comes to Asian fare, new kid on the block Goldie Asian Canteen has all bases covered. Flavours of traditional dim sum are nailed to a T, while inventive fusion dishes like Peking duck toasties filled with noodles (yes, you read correctly) keep things rather interesting. Not to mention tasty. These were a childhood invention of Executive Chef Michael Smith, and he’s done Melburnians a huge service by introducing them to the menu.
We absolutely love this charming Asian cafe. Goldie’s modern take on Asian food is fantastic and we loved everything we ordered. Dumplings were plump and juicy, the crepes were delicious too. They also do Asian inspired cocktails - cocktails with pearls like bubble milk tea! Would love to be back to try all the other items on the menu. I recommend anyone who’s around the area to drop by and try them out.

Loves the pork bao! It's a western x asian style cafe located in melbourne cbd. The pork was juicy, and soft! Gonna come back again later!
Nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed the burger and crispy chicken bao bun. The breakfast bao Peking duck was ok.
